  • Sort a GridView Column related to other Table

    Hello, i have a GridView bound to a DataView. Some columns in the DataView's table are foreignkeys to related tables(f.e. Customer). I want to enable sorting for these columns too, but all i can do is sorting the foreignkey(fiCustomer) and not the CustomerName. I have tried this without success(" Cannot find column ERP_Customer.CustomerName "): <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Customer" SortExpression="ERP_Customer.CustomerName" > A tried also the DataViewManager, but i've a problem to detect the table to sort: Dim viewManager As New DataViewManager(Me.dsERP) viewManager.DataViewSettings(dsERP.ERP_Charge).RowFilter = filter viewManager.DataViewSettings(dsERP.ERP_Charge).Sort = sort 'sort is the GridView's SortExpression Me.GrdCharge.DataSource = viewManager.CreateDataView(dsERP.ERP_Charge) I have to apply the sort on a distinct table of the DataViewManager, but this table would differ on the related tables.   • Can someone please clarify my understanding of a mock's Verify concept?

    Hi folks, I'm playing around with some unit tests and mocking. I'm trying to verify that some code, in my method, has been called. I don't think I understand the Verify part of mocking right, because I can only ever Verify main method .. which is silly because that is what I Act upon anyways. I'm trying to test that my logic is working - so I thought I use Verify to see that certain steps in the method have been reached and enacted upon. Lets use this example to highlight what I am doing wrong. public interface IAuthenticationService { bool Authenticate(string username, string password); SignOut(); } public class FormsAuthenticationService : IAuthenticationService { public bool Authenticate(string username, string password) { var user = _userService.FindSingle(x => x.UserName == username); if (user == null) return false; // Hash their password. var hashedPassword = EncodePassword(password, user.PasswordSalt); if (!hashedPassword.Equals(password, StringComparison.InvariantCulture)) return false; FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(userName, true); return true; } } So now, I wish to verify that EncodePassword was called. FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(..) was called. Now, I don't care about the implimentations of both of those. And more importantly, I do not want to test those methods. That has to be handled elsewhere. What I though I should do is Verify that those methods were called and .. if possible ... an expected result was returned. Is this the correct understanding of what 'Verify' means with mocking? If so, can someone show me how I can do this. Preferable with moq but i'm happy with anything. Cheers :)

    Hello, I am doing web based projects in dotnet. Currently I am implementing security using session variables. I keep current user id and user type in session and authenticate user from these session variables (say Session["UserId"],Session["UserName"] and Session["UserType"]) I do authentications. Please guide me how it is insecure ? I heard such security can be broken and applications can be hacked very easily, like it is possible to get session id and directly connect to that session id etc. Please guide me on this thanks

    As im reading through 3 books about GC , ive notice some strange fact : C# via CLR CriticalFinalizerObject : the CLR treats this class and classes derived from it in a very special manner what ??? "not find enough memory to COMPILE a method? " IMHO - the code should be already compiled... no ? when Im writing c# code - the whole code is compiled to IL before its running... no? but according to the text - at RUNTIME - he MAY find insufficient memory for compile... Help ?

  • Trying to get distinct values from two List<int> objects

    I have 2 List objects: List<int> lst1 = new List<int>(); List<int> lst2 = new List<int>(); Let's say they have values: lst1.Add(1); lst1.Add(2); lst1.Add(3); lst1.Add(4); lst2.Add(1); lst2.Add(4); I need to get an object containing the "distinct" list of both of these; so in this case the return would be List {2, 3}. Is there an easy way to do this? Or do I need to iterate through each value of the lists and compare? I am open to using ObjectQuery, LINQ, etc as these lists are coming from a database, and could potentially be several hundred to several thousand entries long. Thanks!

    This error is so weird I Just can't really figure out what is really wrong! This is what happens: Where and what exactly IS null!? I create the users from a fake repository with moq. I also wrote unit tests, which pass, to ensure the right amount of mocked users are returned. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction here? Top of the stack trace is : at lambda_method(Closure , User ) at System.Linq.Enumerable.WhereSelectArrayIterator`2.MoveNext() at ASP.Index_cshtml.Execute() Is it something to do with linq here? Tell me If I should include the full stack trace.

  • How to run an "empty" Windows Application that only has a NotifyIcon?

    I want to make an Application that only has a NotifyIcon. It doesn't need to have at all a "Main" Form. When I want to achieve something like this, I just create an invisible form and run it, but would there be a more "elegant" way of doing this, I'd like to know it. How do you generally do this? This application can't be a Windows Service, as having the NotifyIcon and its Context Menus is important (each one of them will run a different command). Thanks

  • Entity Framework: Setting EntityReference EntityKey causes exception on save

    I have a table with a ModifiedUserID field that is a foreign key to a User table. In entity framework, I'm loading the first table, but not the users table. I have the user ID of the current user, and would like to set the ModifiedUserID to that value for all entities that have been modified prior to saving. Before calling SaveChanges(), I use the ObjectStateManager to get all modified entities. Since I do not have the user object, but I do have the user ID, I set the EntityReference.EntityKey property as follows: entity.UserReference.EntityKey = New EntityKey("MyContainer.User", "UserID", DatabaseUserID) This works fine, but when I execute SaveChanges(), I receive the following error: A relationship is being added or deleted from an AssociationSet 'FK_Table1_User'. With cardinality constraints, a corresponding 'Table1' must also be added or deleted. Now, I see that setting the EntityReference.EntityKey creates a new AssociationSet entry, but how to I prevent this error?

  • MasterPage Page_Load hits before Grid_ItemCommand

    I am using the session object to store success/error messages based on user actions. On each postback, the message is set on ItemCommend and retrieved on the Page_Load of the master page. Once retrieved, the message is deleted from the session. The problem is that the master page's Page_Load gets called before the ItemCommand gets called so the message does not show up until the next refresh or postback. How is this situation normally handled? Is there some other event we can code against?

Now on the first gird I am fetching data of employee names. Now on the second grid I have to display data of manager names and their comments. The data is on the same table.     I have a project in that we have to represent some graphic objects on a usercontrol in WYSIWYG. Also is required to edit each objects properties(Color, Location, etc). I hesitate between using PropertyGrid ('direct' properties edit) and custom forms on DoubleClick ('indirect' edit). The PropertyGrid is very well but should correspond a some criteria: Only selected properties are Displayed (by e.g. if I have TextRectangle want display only Text and Location); Property names should be customizable and internationalizable (by e.g. TextRectangle Text property should be named "Company Name" or "???????? ???????????"). Now about is it possible I think the answer could be Yes, but is it reasonable to use it if we have not a lot of time. What could be quicker implemented, custom forms or Property panel?
