  • Making a app show inside a GUI in Java

    - by José
    Hello. I have one problem I've been dealing with for this week. You see, I'm new to Java, so that's probably it... Anyways, I've started a project out of pure curiosity. I had it done in Java, but in plain CMD-style, which is not very pretty. It calls one of my ten programs, chosen by the user using "Case". Eg.: If you type 1, it will go to program 1. After you finish it, it goes back to selection until the user press 0. After that, I've been trying to make a GUI for it. I've been able to create the selector alone and make it respond to the numbers chosen. If you press 1 and click ok, it will tell you you've chosen program 1. I, however, have not been able to make it run the program. I've been trying to make the program show up in a jPanel, part of the main GUI. I failed miserably. The program runs in separate but I can't make them run together like the CMD one. The apps were made in Eclipse SDK 3.5.2 The GUIs were made in Netbeans IDE 6.8 Here's the code for the GUI only (the prints are in PT-BR, my native language): Main program: /* * To change this template, choose Tools | Templates * and open the template in the editor. */ /* * ProgramasGUI.java * * Created on 31/01/2010, 22:56:19 */ package Main; import Main.Prog1; /** * * @author Zeh® */ public class ProgramasGUI extends javax.swing.JFrame { /** Creates new form ProgramasGUI */ public ProgramasGUI() { initComponents(); } /** This method is called from within the constructor to * initialize the form. * WARNING: Do NOT modify this code. Hello All, There are a lot of questions on Stackoverflow about curl but I could not figure out what is that I am doing what I am not supposed to. I am trying to call a RESTful service that I had written using Jersey API and am trying to POST an xml string to it and I get HTTP 415 error which is supposed to be a Media Type error. • Android Get Image Uri from Camera

    - by josnidhin
    Hi I have an application that calls the android phone's default camera to take photo the following is my code. Intent intent = new Intent(MediaStore.ACTION_IMAGE_CAPTURE); startActivityForResult(intent, TAKE_PICTURE); and in the onActivityResult method I am doing the following if ((requestCode == TAKE_PICTURE) && (resultCode == Activity.RESULT_OK)) { Uri photoPath = intent.getData(); // do something with the uri here } The above code works fine on htc Tatto and Sony ericsson's x10 running 1.6 but in on htc G1 running 1.6 the above code causes the following exception 03-08 18:54:25.906: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(4344): Uncaught handler: thread main exiting due to uncaught exception 03-08 18:54:25.966: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(4344): java.lang.RuntimeException: Failure delivering result ResultInfo{who=null, request=1, result=-1, data=Intent { act=inline-data (has extras) }} to activity removed java.lang.NullPointerException 03-08 18:54:25.966: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(4344): at android.app.ActivityThread.deliverResults(ActivityThread.java:3224) 03-08 18:54:25.966: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(4344): at android.app.ActivityThread.handleSendResult(ActivityThread.java:3266) 03-08 18:54:25.966: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(4344): at android.app.ActivityThread.access$2600(ActivityThread.java:116) 03-08 18:54:25.966: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(4344): at android.app.ActivityThread$H.handleMessage(ActivityThread.java:1823) 03-08 18:54:25.966: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(4344): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) 03-08 18:54:25.966: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(4344): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) 03-08 18:54:25.966: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(4344): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:4203) 03-08 18:54:25.966: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(4344): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) 03-08 18:54:25.966: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(4344): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:521) 03-08 18:54:25.966: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(4344): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:791) 03-08 18:54:25.966: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(4344): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:549) 03-08 18:54:25.966: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(4344): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method) 03-08 18:54:25.966: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(4344): Caused by: java.lang.NullPointerException 03-08 18:54:25.966: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(4344): at removed 03-08 18:54:25.966: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(4344): at android.app.Activity.dispatchActivityResult(Activity.java:3624) 03-08 18:54:25.966: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(4344): at android.app.ActivityThread.deliverResults(ActivityThread.java:3220) 03-08 18:54:25.966: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(4344): ... 11 more Any insights into how to solve this problem.   • Support for nested model and class validation with ASP.NET MVC 2.0

    - by Diep-Vriezer
    I'm trying to validate a model containing other objects with validation rules using the System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations attributes was hoping the default MVC implementation would suffice: var obj = js.Deserialize(json, objectInfo.ObjectType); if(!TryValidateModel(obj)) { // Handle failed model validation. } The object is composed of primitive types but also contains other classes which also use DataAnnotications. Like so: public class Entry { [Required] public Person Subscriber { get; set; } [Required] public String Company { get; set; } } public class Person { public String FirstName { get; set;} [Required] public String Surname { get; set; } } The problem is that the ASP.NET MVC validation only goes down 1 level and only evaluates the properties of the top level class, as can be read on digitallycreated.net/Blog/54/deep-inside-asp.net-mvc-2-model-metadata-and-validation. Does anyone know an elegant solution to this? I've tried xVal, but they seem to use a non-recursive pattern (http://blog.stevensanderson.com/2009/01/10/xval-a-validation-framework-for-aspnet-mvc/). Someone must have run into this problem before right? Nesting objects in your model doesn't seem so weird if you're designing a web service.

  • popView from UITabBarController inside UINavigationController

    - by Manu
    Hi, I'm building an application based on the Utility template from Xcode, to which I have added some more views. My application structure would be as follows: MainView (the app menu) Flip-side view (a calculator) UINavigationController Settings view viewDiDLoad: UITabBarController - Tab1 view (options) - Tab2 view (information text) I can navigate correctly from my MainView to my Flip-side view, which is also the root view of the Navigation Controller. From my Flip-side view, I push a second view of my Navigation Controller (Settings view) that is configured to show an UITabBarController, with two tabs, as soon as it loads (with viewDidLoad). If I remove the UITabBarController, I can return with no problems to my Flip-side view using "popViewController" from my Settings view. The problem comes if I load the UITabBarController in viewDiDLoad in my Settings view... the tabs work perfectly, but I'm not able to return to my Flip-side view (root view of the Navigation Controller) anymore. I CAN return if I use the Navigation Bar of the Navigation Controller, but I want to configure my own buttons and have the Navigation Bar hidden. So far I've tried the following methods: [self.navigationController popViewControllerAnimated:YES]; [self.navigationController popToRootViewControllerAnimated:YES]; [self.navigationController popToViewController:FlipSideViewController animated:YES]; But they don't seem to work. The first two just do nothing (the screen remains as it was), and the third one does not recognize the "FlipsideViewController" (maybe because it's a delegate of the MainViewController?). Is there a way to check what is exactly doing the "back" button of the Navigation Bar if I activate it? Should I be using delegates? Can I call a popViewController method in my Settings view from any of the two Tab views? This is my Flip-side view: - (IBAction)showSettingsView { SettingsViewController *controller = [[SettingsViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"SettingsView" bundle:nil]; controller.title = @"Settings"; [self.navigationController pushViewController:controller animated:YES]; [controller release]; } This is my Settings view: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; tabBarController = [[UITabBarController alloc] init]; Tab1ViewController* vc1 = [[Tab1ViewController alloc] init]; Tab2ViewController* vc2 = [[Tab2ViewController alloc] init]; NSArray* controllers = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:vc1, vc2, nil]; tabBarController.viewControllers = controllers; [self.view addSubview:tabBarController.view]; } And the method to return in one of the Tab views: - (IBAction)backFromTab1View { [self.navigationController popToViewController:FlipSideViewController animated:YES]; } Thanks very much and sorry if the question is too basic!

  • Tables created programmatically don't appear in WebBrowser control

    - by John Hall
    I'm creating HTML dynamically in a WebBrowser control. Most elements seems to appear correctly, with the exception of a table. My code is: var doc = webBrowser1.Document; var body = webBrowser1.Document.Body; body.AppendChild(webBrowser1.Document.CreateElement("hr")); var div = doc.CreateElement("DIV"); var table = doc.CreateElement("TABLE"); var row1 = doc.CreateElement("TR"); var cell1 = doc.CreateElement("TD"); cell1.InnerText = "Cell 1"; row1.AppendChild(cell1); var cell2 = doc.CreateElement("TD"); cell2.InnerText = "Cell 2"; row1.AppendChild(cell2); table.AppendChild(row1); div.AppendChild(table); body.AppendChild(div); body.AppendChild(webBrowser1.Document.CreateElement("hr")); The HTML tags are visible in the OuterHTML property of the body, but all that appears in the browser are the two horizontal rules. If I replace div.AppendChild(table); with div.InnerHtml = table.OuterHtml then everything appears as expected.

  • Wait for a single RabbitMQ message with a timeout

    - by Evgeny
    I'd like to send a message to a RabbitMQ server and then wait for a reply message (on a "reply-to" queue). Of course, I don't want to wait forever in case the application processing these messages is down - there needs to be a timeout. It sounds like a very basic task, yet I can't find a way to do this. I've now run into this problem with both py-amqplib and the RabbitMQ .NET client. The best solution I've got so far is to poll using basic_get with sleep in-between, but this is pretty ugly: def _wait_for_message_with_timeout(channel, queue_name, timeout): slept = 0 sleep_interval = 0.1 while slept < timeout: reply = channel.basic_get(queue_name) if reply is not None: return reply time.sleep(sleep_interval) slept += sleep_interval raise Exception('Timeout (%g seconds) expired while waiting for an MQ response.' % timeout) Surely there is some better way?

  • Non-uniform snap interval on flex slider?

    - by Breck Fresen
    I'm currently using the Flex HSlider control. I'd like the slider to only allow the user to pick the values: [0, .5, 1, 2] I can get it close to what I want by setting the snapInterval to .5 and by explicitly providing the tickValues. But that still allows the value 1.5 to be selected. Is there a way to provide explicit snapValues or to only allow entries in tickValues to be selected? Or do I have to roll my own slider? Thanks in advance, -- Breck

  • "Best" language /architecture for browser-based app with ODBC and sockets? (subjective)

    - by mawg
    Sorry to ask a subjective question, but I would welcome some advice. I am an experienced programmer of embedded s/w, but haven't done much network programming, although I have done a fair bit of hobbyist PHP. Anyway, I have to develop what is probably a fairly general type of app, as shown in this crude diagram --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Browser / user interface Takes input from user form and writes data to d/b. | | Also gets data and updates browser contents when when d/b contents are changed | | because of info received over TCP/IP. | |________________________________________________________________________________| | ODBC | |_______________________________________________________________________________| | database | |_______________________________________________________________________________| | ODBC | |_______________________________________________________________________________| | Socket (TCP/IP) | | Send data out when d/b is updated from browser. | | Also, update d/b when data are received over TCP/IP. | |_______________________________________________________________________________| As I say, I imagine this to be a fairly typical architecture? Am I right? Then client is insisting on MSIE - unless I can show compelling technical reasons for FireFox or other then it will have to be MSIE (are there any compelling technical reasons?). So, with MIE (almost) a given, I had though to use PHP, since I know it, but the client seems awfully keen on Java (which ought to be OK since I am conversant with C++) it woudl seem to make sense to use the same language for the "upper" interface between the web pages (which that app generates) and the d/b, and for the "lower" interface between the d/b and the socket. (a single language means a single set of tools since text approach, etc) So, the (probably highly subjective) question is "which language shoudl I choose". As I say, the client is keen on Java. Any compelling reason why not? Is it generally a good choice for the sort of thing described here? Any other hints & tips gratefully appreciated (and up-voted): URLs, books, tool chain suggestions, etc, etc

  • Call a web service and parse xml response in blackberry

    - by Nirmal
    Hello All... Currently I have a ready design for blackberry application. Now, I need to call the web service in my app, and that web service will give me some xml response. So, I need to parse that response from xml to some POJO. So, for parsing the xml response should I go with the basic DOM praser, or should I use any other J2ME specific prasing concept ? If anybody have any sample tutorial link for the same then it would be very much useful to me. Thanks in advance....

  • Java: JPQL date function to add a time period to another date

    - by bguiz
    SELECT x FROM SomeClass WHERE x.dateAtt BETWEEN CURRENT_DATE AND (CURRENT_DATE + 1 MONTH) In the above JPQL statement, SomeClass has a memebr dateAttr, which is a java.util.Date and has a @Temporal(javax.persistence.TemporalType.DATE) annotation. I need a way to do the (CURRENT_DATE + 1 MONTH) bit - it is obviously wrong in its current state - but cannot find the doc with the date function for JPQL. Can anyone point me in the direction of a doc that documents JPQL date functions (and also how to do this particular query)?

  • What is the meaning of NSXMLParserErrorDomain error 5.?

    - by mobibob
    Ok, I am back on this task. I have my XML properly download from my webserver with a URL pointing to the server's file, however, when I detect the network is 'unreachable' I simply point the URL to my application's local XML and I get the following error (N.B. the file is a direct copy of the one on the server). I cannot find detail description, but I think it is saying that the URL is pointing to an inaccessible location. Am I storing this resource in the wrong location? I think I want it in the HomeDirectory / Library?? Debug output loadMyXml: /var/mobile/Applications/950569B0-6113-48FC-A184-4F1B67A0510F/MyApp.app/SampleHtml.xml 2009-10-14 22:08:17.257 MyApp[288:207] Wah! It didn't work. • RubyQT QGraphicsview scale images to fit window

    - by shadowskill
    I'm trying to make an image scale inside of a QGraphicsView and having zero success. I did find this C++ question with what seemed to be the same problem:http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2489754/qgraphicsview-scrolling-and-image-scaling-cropping I borrowed the approach of overriding the drawback/foreground. However when I run the script I'm greeted with a method_missing error: method_missing: undefined method drawPixmap for #<Qt::Painter:0x7ff11eb9b088> QPaintDevice: Cannot destroy paint device that is being painted What should I be doing to get the QGraphicsView to behave the way I want? class Imageview < Qt::GraphicsView attr_reader :pixmap def initialize(parent=nil) # @parent=parent super() @pixmap=pixmap Qt::MetaObject.connectSlotsByName(self) end def loadimage(pixmap) @pixmap=pixmap end def drawForeground(painter, rect) #size=event.size() #item= self.items()[0] #Qt::GraphicsPixmapItem.new #pixmap=@pixmap #painter=Qt::Painter.new [email protected](Qt::Size.new(rect.width,rect.height),Qt::KeepAspectRatio, Qt::SmoothTransformation) # painter.begin(self) painter.drawPixmap(rect,sized,Qt::Rect.new(0.0, 0.0, sized.width,sized.height)) #painter.end() # item.setPixmap(sized) #painter.end self.centerOn(1.0,1.0) #item.scale() # item.setTransformationMode(Qt::FastTransformation) # self.fitInView(item) end def updateSceneRect painter=Qt::Painter.new() drawForeground(painter,self.sceneRect) end end app=Qt::Application.new(ARGV) #grview=Imageview.new pic=Qt::Pixmap.new('pic') grview=Imageview.new() grview.loadimage(pic) scene=Qt::GraphicsScene.new #scene.addPixmap(pic) grview.setScene(scene) #grview.fitInView(scene) grview.renderHint=Qt::Painter::Antialiasing | Qt::Painter::SmoothPixmapTransform grview.backgroundBrush = Qt::Brush.new(Qt::Color.new(230, 200, 167)) grview.show app.exec

  • Merge aspnetdb database with another one?

    - by Xaisoft
    I have an aspnetdb and I have created another aspnetdb for another website, but instead of starting from scratch, I would like to import all the data from the one that has users and other data into the new aspnetdb. Is there a way to do this? Are any tools available?

  • Integrating Google Analytics into GWT application

    - by Domchi
    This should be totally simple but I can't get it working no matter what I try. I'm trying to use Google Analytics with GWT application. From what I understood, there are two way to do it: First is synchronous, by inserting tracking code at the end of <head> section HTML page and then calling this method: public static native void recordAnalyticsHit(String pageName) /*-{ pageTracker._trackPageview(pageName); }-*/; Second is asynchronous, by inserting tracking code just after <body> tag and then calling this method: public static native void recordAnalyticsHit(String pageName) /*-{ _gaq.push(['_trackPageview(' + pageName + ')']); }-*/; When running each of those methods, however, I get this exceptions in hosted mode: [ERROR] [myproject] Uncaught exception escaped com.google.gwt.core.client.JavaScriptException: (ReferenceError): pageTracker is not defined [ERROR] [myproject] Uncaught exception escaped com.google.gwt.core.client.JavaScriptException: (ReferenceError): _gaq is not defined When observing site in Firebug, I see that ga.js gets loaded, but that's about it. Did anyone get Analytics working with GWT? Also, does _gaq accept page name as trackPageview parameter, since all the examples I've seen use this call: _gaq.push(['_trackPageview()']); (Of course, that also doesn't work for me.)
