  • PHP: Recursively get children of parent

    - by Nic Hubbard
I have a function which gets the ids of all children of a parent from my DB. So, if I looked up id 7, it might return an array with 5, 6 and 10. What I then want to do, is recursively find the children of those returned ids, and so on, to the final depth of the children. I have tried to write a function to do this, but I am getting confused about recursion. function getChildren($parent_id) { $tree = Array(); $tree_string; if (!empty($parent_id)) { // getOneLevel() returns a one-dimentional array of child ids $tree = $this->getOneLevel($parent_id); foreach ($tree as $key => $val) { $ids = $this->getChildren($val); array_push($tree, $ids); //$tree[] = $this->getChildren($val); $tree_string .= implode(',', $tree); } return $tree_string; } else { return $tree; } }//end getChildren() After the function is run, I would like it to return a one-dimentional array of all the child ids that were found.

  • Prototype or JQuery change the value of a hidden field?

    - by Nick Faraday
    I'm having some trouble with prototype changing the value of a hidden field. Function: function remove_fields (link) { $(link).next('input[type=hidden]').value = ''; $(link).up(".open_hours").hide(); } If I comment out the $(link).next('input[type=hidden]').value = ''; the hide function works. Trying to set the value gives me an error: $(link).next("input[type=hidden]") is undefined Here is my HTML around the function call: <div class="monday"> <div class ="open_hours"> <li><label for="location_monday">Monday</label> Open: 06:29PM - Close: 04:21PM <a href="#" onclick="remove_fields(this); return false;">remove</a></li> <li class="hidden optional" id="location_monday_open_input"><input id="location_monday_open" name="location[monday_open]" type="hidden" value="18:29:00" /></li> <li class="hidden optional" id="location_monday_close_input"><input class="close" id="location_monday_close" name="location[monday_close]" type="hidden" value="16:21:00" /></li> </div> </div> Not sure what I'm doing wrong here? Thanks Guys!

  • Generating JavaScript in C# and subsequent testing

    - by Codebrain
We are currently developing an ASP.NET MVC application which makes heavy use of attribute-based metadata to drive the generation of JavaScript. Below is a sample of the type of methods we are writing: function string GetJavascript<T>(string javascriptPresentationFunctionName, string inputId, T model) { return @"function updateFormInputs(value){ $('#" + inputId + @"_SelectedItemState').val(value); $('#" + inputId + @"_Presentation').val(value); } function clearInputs(){ " + helper.ClearHiddenInputs<T>(model) + @" updateFormInputs(''); } function handleJson(json){ clearInputs(); " + helper.UpdateHiddenInputsWithJson<T>("json", model) + @" updateFormInputs(" + javascriptPresentationFunctionName + @"()); " + model.GetCallBackFunctionForJavascript("json") + @" }"; } This method generates some boilerplace and hands off to various other methods which return strings. The whole lot is then returned as a string and written to the output. The question(s) I have are: 1) Is there a nicer way to do this other than using large string blocks? We've considered using a StringBuilder or the Response Stream but it seems quite 'noisy'. Using string.format starts to become difficult to comprehend. 2) How would you go about unit testing this code? It seems a little amateur just doing a string comparison looking for particular output in the string. 3) What about actually testing the eventual JavaScript output? Thanks for your input!

  • User authentication using CodeIgniter

    - by marcin_koss
I have a problem creating authentication part for my application. Below is the simplified version of my controllers. The idea is that the MY_controller checks if session with user data exists. If it doesn’t, then redirects to the index page where you have to log in. MY_controller.php class MY_Controller extends Controller { function __construct() { parent::__construct(); $this->load->helper('url'); $this->load->library('session'); if($this->session->userdata('user') == FALSE) { redirect('index'); } else { redirect('search'); } } } order.php - main controller class Orders extends MY_Controller { function __construct() { parent::__construct(); $this->load->helper('url'); $this->load->library('session'); } function index() { // Here would be the code that validates information input by user. // If validation is successful, it creates user session. $this->load->view('header.html', $data); // load header $this->load->view('index_view', $data); // load body $this->load->view('footer.html', $data); // load footer } function search() { //different page } what is happening is that the browser is telling me that “The page isn’t redirecting properly. Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.” It seems like the redirect() is being looped. I looked at a few other examples of user auth and they were build using similar technique.

  • Trying to modify the text of a document onkeydown is inserting text incorrectly.

    - by Benny
I have the following html: <html> <head> <script> function myKeyDown() { var myDiv = document.getElementById('myDiv'); myDiv.innerHTML = myDiv.innerHTML.replace(/(@[a-z0-9_]+)/gi, '<strong>$1</strong>'); } function init() { document.addEventListener('keydown', myKeyDown, false); document.designMode = "on"; } window.onload = init; </script> </head> <body> <div id="myDiv"> This is my variable name: @varname. If I type here things go wrong... </div> </body> </html> My goal is to do a kind of syntax highlighting on edit, to highlight variable names that begin with an @ symbol. However, when I edit the document's body, the function runs but the cursor is automatically shifted to the beginning of the body before the keystroke is performed. My hypothesis is that the keypress event is trying to insert the new character at a specified index, but when I run the replace function the indices get messed up so it defaults the character insertion point to the beginning. I'm using Firefox to test by the way. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, B.J.

  • Fix an external dependency of a ruby gem

    - by Patrick Daryll Glandien
I am currently trying to install the gem nfoiled, which provides a ruby interface to ncurses. I do this by using gem install elliottcable-nfoiled as suggest in the README. Downloading it manually from the github repository and then installing it with rake install doesn't work because of a problem with the echoe-gem, thus I am bound to use the normal way. Unfortunately it depends on the gem ncurses-0.9.1 which is only compatible with ruby 1.8, and thus I can't install nfoiled either (since it always tries to compile ncurses-0.9.1 first): novavortex:/usr/src# gem install elliottcable-nfoiled Building native extensions. This could take a while... ... form_wrap.c: In function `rbncurs_m_new_form': form_wrap.c:395: error: `struct RArray' has no member named `len' form_wrap.c: In function `rbncurs_c_set_field_type': form_wrap.c:619: error: `struct RArray' has no member named `len' form_wrap.c: In function `rbncurs_c_set_form_fields': form_wrap.c:778: error: `struct RArray' has no member named `len' form_wrap.c: In function `make_arg': form_wrap.c:1126: error: `struct RArray' has no member named `len' make: *** [form_wrap.o] Error 1 Gem files will remain installed in /usr/local/lib/ruby/gems/1.9.1/gems/ncurses-0.9.1 for inspection. How can I install nfoiled without having it recompile ncurses first?

  • Flex 3 Close UrlLoader throws exception

    - by gmoniey
I am trying to simulate a 'HEAD' method using UrlLoader; essentially, I just want to check for the presence of a file without downloading the entire thing. I figured I would just use HttpStatusEvent, but the following code throws an exception (one that I can't wrap in a try/catch block) when you run in debug mode. <mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute" initialize="init()"> <mx:Script> <![CDATA[ private static const BIG_FILE:String = "http://www.archive.org/download/gspmovvideotestIMG0021mov/IMG_0021.mov"; private var _loader:URLLoader; private function init():void { _loader = new URLLoader(); _loader.addEventListener(HTTPStatusEvent.HTTP_STATUS, statusHandler); _loader.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, errorHandler); _loader.addEventListener(SecurityErrorEvent.SECURITY_ERROR, errorHandler); _loader.load(new URLRequest(BIG_FILE)); } public function unload():void { try { _loader.close(); _loader.removeEventListener(HTTPStatusEvent.HTTP_STATUS, statusHandler); _loader.removeEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, errorHandler); _loader.removeEventListener(SecurityErrorEvent.SECURITY_ERROR, errorHandler); } catch(error:Error) { status.text = error.message; } } private function errorHandler(event:Event):void { status.text = "error"; unload(); } private function statusHandler(event:HTTPStatusEvent):void { if(event.status.toString().match(/^2/)) { status.text = "success"; unload(); } else { errorHandler(event); } } ]]> </mx:Script> <mx:Label id="status" /> I tried using ProgressEvents instead, but it seems that some 404 pages return content, so the status event will correctly identify if the page exists. Anyone have any ideas?

  • How to test the expectation on the eventSpy

  • QUnit Unit Testing: Test Mouse Click

    - by Ngu Soon Hui
I have the following HTML code: <div id="main"> <form Id="search-form" action="/ViewRecord/AllRecord" method="post"> <div> <fieldset> <legend>Search</legend> <p> <label for="username">Staff name</label> <input id="username" name="username" type="text" value="" /> <label for="softype"> software type</label> <input type="submit" value="Search" /> </p> </fieldset> </div> </form> </div> And the following Javascript code ( with JQuery as the library): $(function() { $("#username").click(function() { $.getJSON("ViewRecord/GetSoftwareChoice", {}, function(data) { // use data to manipulate other controls }); }); }); Now, how to test $("#username").click so that for a given input, it calls the correct url ( in this case, its ViewRecord/GetSoftwareChoice) And, the output is expected (in this case, function(data)) behaves correctly? Any idea how to do this with QUnit? Edit: I read the QUnit examples, but they seem to be dealing with a simple scenario with no AJAX interaction. And although there are ASP.NET MVC examples, but I think they are really testing the output of the server to an AJAX call, i.e., it's still testing the server response, not the AJAX response. What I want is how to test the client side response.

  • jQuery Collapse (with cookies), default open instead of closed?

    - by Christian
    Hi. I've got a jQuery snippet which basically allows a user to toggle a div, open or closed - their preference is saved in a cookie. (function($) { $.fn.extend({ collapse: function(options) { var defaults = { inactive : "inactive", active : "active", head : ".trigger", group : ".wrap-me-up", speed : 300, cookie : "collapse" }; // Set a cookie counter so we dont get name collisions var op = $.extend(defaults, options); cookie_counter = 0; return this.each(function() { // Increment cookie name counter cookie_counter++; var obj = $(this), sections = obj.find(op.head).addClass(op.inactive), panel = obj.find(op.group).hide(), l = sections.length, cookie = op.cookie + "_" + cookie_counter; // Look for existing cookies for (c=0;c<=l;c++) { var cvalue = $.cookie(cookie + c); if ( cvalue == 'open' + c ) { panel.eq(c).show(); panel.eq(c).prev().removeClass(op.inactive).addClass(op.active); }; }; sections.click(function(e) { e.preventDefault(); var num = sections.index(this); var cookieName = cookie + num; var ul = $(this).next(op.group); // If item is open, slide up if($(this).hasClass(op.active)) { ul.slideUp(op.speed); $(this).removeClass(op.active).addClass(op.inactive); $.cookie(cookieName, null, { path: '/', expires: 10 }); return } // Else slide down ul.slideDown(op.speed); $(this).addClass(op.active).removeClass(op.inactive); var cookieValue = 'open' + num; $.cookie(cookieName, cookieValue, { path: '/', expires: 10 }); }); }); } }); })(jQuery); Demo: http://christianbullock.com/demo/ I'm just wondering how I can display the list open as default, and have the div collapse when the header is clicked? Many thanks. Christian.

  • Obtaining YouTube video ID in a URL and inputting selected video ID into a URL

    - by Dave
I've been having trouble in trying to figure this out. What I am trying to do is, obtain the ID of a video from YouTube, and input the 11 character ID into the css of a div of a specific id by using jquery. I know the URL for the thumbnail of any video, but I just need to be able to change the ID to display different video thumbnails. <script> $(document).ready(function() { function(data){ videoID = data.split('www.youtube.com/v/')[1].split('&amp')[0]; $("#304817679").append(videoID); }); $("#304817679").replaceWith("<div id=\"304817679\" style=\"background: url(http://img.youtube.com/vi/"+ $.function(data) +"/0.jpg) no-repeat middle; width: 15px; height: 150px;\"></div>"); }); }); </script> <div id="304817679"> <div style="display: none;"><object width="248" height="222"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/vy90n2nNRKQ&amp;rel=0&amp;egm=0&amp;showinfo=0&amp;fs=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/vy90n2nNRKQ&amp;rel=0&amp;egm=0&amp;showinfo=0&amp;fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="248" height="222" allowFullScreen="true" wmode="transparent"></embed></object></div> </div> Trying to explain this better, I want the 11 Character YouTube Video ID from the embedded code, and put it into the URL of the thumbnail (http://img.youtube.com/vi/"+ function(data) +"/0.jpg). Which, would then also replace the original div (div id="304817679"). Am I on the right track with my script? I'm entirely new to this, and I would appreciate some of the help that's offered here.

  • Strange EListError occurance (when accessing variable-defined index)

    - by michal
Hi, I have a TList which stores some objects. Now I have a function which does some operations on that list: function SomeFunct(const AIndex: integer): IInterface begin if (AIndex > -1) and (AIndex < fMgr.Windows.Count ) then begin if (fMgr.Windows[AIndex] <> nil) then begin if not Supports(TForm(fMgr.Windows[AIndex]), IMyFormInterface, result) then result:= nil; end; end else result:= nil; end; now, what is really strange is that accessing fMgr.Windows with any proper index causes EListError... However if i hard-code it (in example, replace AIndex with value 0 or 1) it works fine. I tried debugging it, the function gets called twice, with arguments 0 and 1 (as supposed). while AIndex = 0, evaluating fMgr.Windows[AIndex] results in EListError at $someAddress, while evaluating fMgr.Windws[0] instead - returns proper results ... what is even more strange, even though there is an EListError, the function returns proper data ... and doesn't show anything. Just info on two EListError memory leaks on shutdown (using FastMM) any ideas what could be wrong?! Thanks in advance michal

  • Custom Jquery slideshow doesn't want to reset?

    - by Jared
Hello, Under $(document).ready(function(), I have the following code: num = $("#mainContentCategoryLinksWrapper > div").size(); This makes num equal the length of the children of #mainContentCategoryLinksWrapper. Currently, this equals 4. Above the $(document).ready(function( I have this: var timesRun = 0; function slideshow(){ if(timesRun < num){ $(".arrowIn").stop().animate({color: "#a12324", textIndent: "30px", backgroundPosition: '0px 0px'}, 100, function(){ //the first child in the series has a class of "arrowIn" $(".arrowIn").next().addClass("replaceMe"); //Adds the ".replaceMe" placeholder the the next element. $(".arrowIn").removeClass("arrowIn"); //Deletes the class on the current element $(".replaceMe").addClass("arrowIn").removeClass("replaceMe"); //reassigns ".arrowIn" over ".replaceMe" timesRun = timesRun + 1; //increases number of times run }).prev().animate({color: "#000000", textIndent: "25px", backgroundPosition: '0px -25px'}, {duration: 50}); //puts the previous element back to it's original position }else{ timesRun = 0; $(".arrowIn").removeClass("arrowIn"); $("#mainContentCategoryLinksWrapper:first-child").addClass("arrowIn"); //this is supposed to reset timesRun, and set the first child in the series back to the original ".arrowIn" } } setInterval( 'slideshow()', 1000 ); So here is the what the code does: 1) Animates the first in the series of 4 (#1) timesRun = 1 2) Animates the second in the series of 4 (#2) timesRun = 2 3) Animates the third in the series of 4 (#3) timesRun = 3 4) Animates the fourth in the series of 4 (#4) timesRun = 4 5) timesRun is now longer less than num. Reset class names back to original to .arrowIn, set timesRun to 0. However, when the slideshow() is reexectuted, it doesn't start over. Any ideas? See www.raceramps.com/v3 for an example.

Hello all, I'm trying to load an aspx page using Iframe in VB.net. I'm trying to do it(setting the source of Iframe) with the help of Ext(JavaScript). aspx code: < div id="container" > < iframe id="pane" name="pane" src="Empty.aspx" frameborder="0" >< /iframe> < /div > Javascript code: Pane = function() { var pane; return { init: function() { if (!document.body) { return; } pane = Ext.get('pane'); if ( something ) { this.load(); } else { this.navigateTo('Page.aspx?id=' + a.ID); } }, load: function() { pane.dom.src = 'HTTPURL'; }, navigateTo: function(url) { var agt = navigator.userAgent.toLowerCase(); if (agt.indexOf("firefox") != -1) { document.getElementById('pane').src = url; } else { pane.dom.src = url; } } }; } (); This works fine with IE and Ifrma gets loaded wuth page.aspx every time the parent page is requested. But with FireFox it doesn't. With FireFox the src attribute remains "Empty.aspx" when the page is loaded but when i refresh the page i.e. in post back event the scr attribute changes to "page.aspx?id=a.id" and iframe gets loaded properly. Has anyone faced such kind of problem before? and knows the solution please help me, it's killing me big. Thanks in Advance. Maddy.

My aspx code: <div id="container"> < iframe id="pane" name="pane" src="Empty.aspx" frameborder="0" > </iframe> </div> My Javascript code: Pane = function() { var pane; return { init: function() { if (!document.body) { return; } pane = Ext.get('pane'); if ( something ) { this.load(); } else { this.navigateTo('Page.aspx?id=' + a.ID); } }, load: function() { pane.dom.src = 'HTTPURL'; }, navigateTo: function(url) { var agt = navigator.userAgent.toLowerCase(); if (agt.indexOf("firefox") != -1) { document.getElementById('pane').src = url; } else { pane.dom.src = url; } } }; } (); This works fine with IE and Iframe gets loaded with page.aspx every time the parent page is requested. But with FireFox it doesn't. With FireFox the src attribute remains "Empty.aspx" when the page is loaded but when I refresh the page i.e. in post back event the src attribute changes to "page.aspx?id=a.id" and iframe gets loaded properly. Has anyone faced such kind of problem before? If you know the solution please help me, it's killing me big. Thanks in advance. Maddy.

  • Javascript callback not firing when AJAX operation complete

    - by MisterJames
Given the following code on an ASP.NET MVC View: <% using (Ajax.BeginForm("AddCommunity", new AjaxOptions { UpdateTargetId = "community-list", OnSuccess = "BindCommunityHover" })) { %> Add Community: <input type="text" id="communityName" name="communityName" /> <input type="submit" value="Add" /> <% } %> And the following JavaScript method in the file: function BindCommunityHover() { $(".community-item-li").hover( function () { $(this).addClass("communityHover"); }, function () { $(this).removeClass("communityHover"); } ); }; Is there any reason why BindCommunityHover is not being called when the AJAX result comes back? The community-list div is properly updated (the action returns a partial view). I have also tried setting OnComplete (instead of OnSuccess) to no avail. The BindCommunityHover method is called in a $(function(){...}); block when the page first loads, and for all existing .community-item-li elements, it works. The partial result from my controller replaces all items in that div with more of the same class. The OnSuccess method is supposed to fire after the document is updated. Update: k...this gets weird. I added the following to the BindCommunityHover method: alert($(".community-item-li").size()); I'm getting 240 in the alert when the page loads and when the callback fires. So, the callback IS firing, jQuery is matching the elements but not applying the styles...

  • How do I make PHP's Magic __set work like a natural variable?

    - by Navarr
Basically, what I want to do is create a class called Variables that uses sessions to store everything in it, allowing me to quickly get and store data that needs to be used throughout the entire site without working directly with sessions. Right now, my code looks like this: <?php class Variables { public function __construct() { if(session_id() === "") { session_start(); } } public function __set($name,$value) { $_SESSION["Variables"][$name] = $value; } public function __get($name) { return $_SESSION["Variables"][$name]; } public function __isset($name) { return isset($_SESSION["Variables"][$name]); } } However, when I try to use it like a natural variable, for example... $tpl = new Variables; $tpl->test[2] = Moo; echo($tpl->test[2]); I end up getting "o" instead of "Moo" as it sets test to be "Moo," completely ignoring the array. I know I can work around it by doing $tpl->test = array("Test","Test","Moo"); echo($tpl->test[2]); but I would like to be able to use it as if it was a natural variable. Is this possible?

  • jQuery ajax not preloading images

    - by George Wiscombe
I have a list of galleries, when you click on the title of a gallery it pulls in the contents (HTML with images). When the content is pulled in it preloads the html but not the images, any ideas? This is the JavaScript i'm using: $('#ajax-load').ajaxStart(function() { $(this).show(); }).ajaxStop(function() { $(this).hide();}); // PORTFOLIO SECTION // Hide project details on load $('.project > .details').hide(); // Slide details up / down on click $('.ajax > .header').click(function () { if ($(this).siblings(".details").is(":hidden")) { var detailUrl = $(this).find("a").attr("href"); var $details = $(this).siblings(".details"); $.ajax({ url: detailUrl, data: "", type: "GET", success: function(data) { $details.empty(); $details.html(data); $details.find("ul.project-nav").tabs($details.find(".pane"), {effect: 'fade'}); $details.slideDown("slow"); }}); } else {$(this).siblings(".details").slideUp();} return false; }); You can see this demonstrated at http://www.georgewiscombe.com Thanks in advance!

  • jQuery Validation plugin results in empty AJAX POST

    - by user305412
Hi, I have tried to solve this issue for at couple of days with no luck. I have a form, where I use the validation plugin, and when I try to submit it, it submits empty vars. Now, if I remove the validation, everything works fine. Here is my implementation: $(document).ready(function(){ $("#myForm").validate({ rules: { field1: { required: true, minlength: 5 }, field2: { required: true, minlength: 10 } }, messages: { field1: "this is required", field2: "this is required", }, errorLabelContainer: $("#validate_msg"), invalidHandler: function(e, validator) { var errors = validator.numberOfInvalids(); if (errors) { $("#validate_div").show(); } }, onkeyup: false, success: false, submitHandler: function(form) { doAjaxPost(form); } }); }); function doAjaxPost(form) { // do some stuff $(form).ajaxSubmit(); return false; } As I wrote this does not work when I have my validation, BUT if I remove that, and just add an onsubmit="doAjaxPost(this.form); return false"; to my HTML form, it works - any clue??? Now here is the funny thing, everything works as it should in Safari, but not in firefox 3.6.2 (Mac OS X)!

  • How to inherit from a non-prototype object

    - by Andres Jaan Tack
The node-binary binary parser builds its object with the following pattern: exports.parse = function parse (buffer) { var self = {...} self.tap = function (cb) {...}; self.into = function (key, cb) {...}; ... return self; }; How do I inherit my own, enlightened parser from this? Is this pattern designed intentionally to make inheritance awkward? My only successful attempt thus far at inheriting all the methods of binary.parse(<something>) is to use _.extend as: var clever_parser = function(buffer) { if (this instanceof clever_parser) { this.parser = binary.parse(buffer); // I guess this is super.constructor(...) _.extend(this.parser, this); // Really? return this.parser; } else { return new clever_parser(buffer); } } This has failed my smell test, and that of others. Is there anything about this that makes in tangerous?
