  • converting an interface to a type in MVC

    - by danielovich
Hi. I have a small isuse regarding an interface. Consider this code: [HttpPost()] public void Update(IAuctionItem item) { RedirectToAction("List"); } Whenever I call this I get an exception saying I can't create an instance of type which i totally correct. But is there a way of telling what the interface should map to without actually using the concrete type ?

  • Is it possible for a Grails Domain to have no 'id'?

    - by firnnauriel
Is it possible to create a table that has no 'id'? For example, this is my domain: class SnbrActVector { int nid String term double weight static mapping = { version false id generator: 'identity' } static constraints = { } } When I run this SQL statement, it fails: insert into snbr_act_vector values (5, 'term', 0.5) I checked the table and 'id' is already set to autoincrement. I'm thinking that another option is to remove the 'id' itself. Or is there another workaround for this? Please assume that it is not an option to change the givent SQL statement.

  • Clojure: I have many sorted maps and want to reduce in order all there values a super maps of keys -> vector

    - by Alex Foreman
I have seen this but can't work out how to apply it (no pun intended) to my situation. I have a sorted list of maps like this: (note there can be more than two keys in the map) ({name1 3, name2 7}, {name1 35, name2 7}, {name1 0, name2 3}) What I am after is this data structure afterwards: ({:name1 [3,35,0]}, {:name2 [7,7,3]}) Ive been struggling with this for a while and cant seem to get anywhere near. Caveats: The data must stay sorted and I have N keywords not just two.

  • How can I get model names from inside my app?

    - by Cameron
I have a bunch of models in a sub-directory that inherit from a model in the models root directory. I want to be able to set a class variable in another model that lists each inherited model class. i.e @@groups = sub_models.map do { |model| model.class.to_s } Not sure how to get at this info though...

  • Android & Google Maps - close info window with back button

    - by m4ch3t3
I have an activity that holds a fragment with Google Map view in it. App adds several dozens of markers to the MapView, using MarkerManager and ClusterRenderer to form clusters. The problem is that when I have marker's InfoWindow opened and I press hardware Back button, it closes the app. Instead of that, I would like to have the InfoWindow closed. Is there any straightforward way to achieve this?

  • Where is this error message coming from?

    - by jordanpg
Recently switched to a new ISP after a move, running Chrome under OSX 10.7. I see the following error when visiting various sites -- no particular pattern -- from time to time. This is the entire message. It is the only thing that appears in my web browser. The problem fixes itself in a few minutes. Probably a lookup error of some sort, but I don't recognize it. What piece of software is serving this message? What is happening? What is this Reference # referencing? Invalid URL The requested URL "/articles/6517181", is invalid. • Relational Database arrays (H2, Java)

    - by Daddy Warbox
I seem to have two options on how to implement arrays, and I want to know which I should go with: Use the ARRAY data type and (from what I understand) effectively serialize data objects into the database (which in my case are just wrapped primitive types; don't know of another way to make this work). Use a separate table and map with foreign keys for each array item. If you have experience with this (especially with H2), which would you recommend?

  • how to force nhibernate to set the foreign key of the child item?

    - by npeBeg
i have a collection in the mapping: <bag name="Values" cascade="all-delete-orphan" lazy="false" inverse="true"> <key column="[TemplateId]"/> <one-to-many class="MyNamespace.Value, MyLib"/> </bag> the Value object has a foreign key [TemplateId]. both entities has their generator set to "identity". when i call session.Save() for the parent Template object, the Value objects has their [TemplateId] (the foreign key) set to zero, so an SQL exception appears. how do i forse nhibernate to set the FK value for the child items to the value of the inserted parent object?

  • Texture mapping an NGon?

    - by user146780
I'm not sure how to go about figuring out how to map texture cooridnates for a 2D NGon (N sided polygon) How can this be done? The effect i'm trying to achieve is for the texture to fit on the polygon and stretch out accordingly so the whole texture fits on it. Thanks

  • How to implement table-per-concrete-type using entity framework

    - by SDReyes
Hello Guys! I'm mapping a set of tables that share a common set of fields: So as you can see I'm using a table-per-concrete-type strategy to map the inheritance. But... I have not could to relate them to an abstract type containing these common properties. It's possible to do it using EF? BONUS: The only non documented Entity Data Model Mapping Scenario is Table-per-concrete-type inheritance http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc716779.aspx : P

  • What's the purpose of the rotate instructions (ROL, RCL on x86) ?

    - by lgratian
I always wondered what's the purpose of the rotate instructions some CPUs have (ROL, RCL on x86, for example). What kind of software makes use of these instructions? I first thought they may be used for encryption/computing hash codes, but these libraries are written usually in C, which doesn't have operators that map to these instructions. Has anybody found an use for them? Why where they added to the instructions set?

  • Performance problems - Jira running on Ubuntu over VMware ESX 4.0 maxing out all 4 vCPUs.

    - by Jack T
We are running Jira on a box under VMware ESX 4.0 and performance is vaiable to say the least. The physical box has 12 Gig RAM and 4x Xeon 2.26 GHz CPUs. vCentre is telling us the CPUs are not maxed out at any time, RAM is fine too. When we issue a request to the host it sometimes maxes out all 4 vCPUs. Sometimes it's quick, sometimes very very slow. There doesn't seem to be a pattern. Any ideas?

  • How does lock(syncRoot) make sense on a static method?

    - by Rising Star
The following code is excerpted from the (Windows Identity Foundation SDK) template that MS uses to create a new Security Token Service Web Site. public static CustomSecurityTokenServiceConfiguration Current { get { HttpApplicationState httpAppState = HttpContext.Current.Application; CustomSecurityTokenServiceConfiguration customConfiguration = httpAppState.Get( CustomSecurityTokenServiceConfigurationKey ) as CustomSecurityTokenServiceConfiguration; if ( customConfiguration == null ) { lock ( syncRoot ) { customConfiguration = httpAppState.Get( CustomSecurityTokenServiceConfigurationKey ) as CustomSecurityTokenServiceConfiguration; if ( customConfiguration == null ) { customConfiguration = new CustomSecurityTokenServiceConfiguration(); httpAppState.Add( CustomSecurityTokenServiceConfigurationKey, customConfiguration ); } } } return customConfiguration; } } I'm relatively new to multi-threaded programming. I assume that the reason for the lock statement is to make this code thread-safe in the event that two web requests arrive at the web site at the same time. However, I would have thought that using lock (syncRoot) would not make sense because syncRoot refers to the current instance that this method is operating on... but this is a static method? How does this make sense?

  • T-SQL Self Join in combination with aggregate function

    - by Nick
Hi, i have the following table. CREATE TABLE [dbo].[Tree]( [AutoID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, [Category] [varchar](10) NULL, [Condition] [varchar](10) NULL, [Description] [varchar](50) NULL, CONSTRAINT [PK_Tree] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED ( [AutoID] ASC )WITH (PAD_INDEX = OFF, STATISTICS_NORECOMPUTE = OFF, IGNORE_DUP_KEY = OFF, ALLOW_ROW_LOCKS = ON, ALLOW_PAGE_LOCKS = ON) ON [PRIMARY] ) ON [PRIMARY] GO the data looks like this: INSERT INTO [Test].[dbo].[Tree] ([Category] ,[Condition] ,[Description]) VALUES ('1','Alpha','Type 1') INSERT INTO [Test].[dbo].[Tree] ([Category] ,[Condition] ,[Description]) VALUES ('1','Alpha','Type 1') INSERT INTO [Test].[dbo].[Tree] ([Category] ,[Condition] ,[Description]) VALUES ('2','Alpha','Type 2') INSERT INTO [Test].[dbo].[Tree] ([Category] ,[Condition] ,[Description]) VALUES ('2','Alpha','Type 2') go I try now to do the following: SELECT Category,COUNT(*) as CategoryCount FROM Tree where Condition = 'Alpha' group by Category but i wish also to get the Description for each Element. I tried several subqueries, self joins etc. i always come to the problem that the subquery cannot return more than one record. The problem is caused by a poor database design which i cannot change and i run out of ideas to get this done in a single query ;-(

  • SQL Server concurrency and generated sequence

    - by Goyuix
I need a sequence of numbers for an application, and I am hoping to leverage the abilities of SQL Server to do it. I have created the following table and procedure (in SQL Server 2005): CREATE TABLE sequences ( seq_name varchar(50) NOT NULL, seq_value int NOT NULL ) CREATE PROCEDURE nextval @seq_name varchar(50) AS BEGIN DECLARE @seq_value INT SET @seq_value = -1 UPDATE sequences SET @seq_value = seq_value = seq_value + 1 WHERE seq_name = @seq_name RETURN @seq_value END I am a little concerned that without locking the table/row another request could happen concurrently and end up returning the same number to another thread or client. This would be very bad obviously. Is this design safe in this regard? Is there something I can add that would add the necessary locking to make it safe? Note: I am aware of IDENTITY inserts in SQL Server - and that is not what I am looking for this in particular case. Specifically, I don't want to be inserting/deleting rows. This is basically to have a central table that manages the sequential number generator for a bunch of sequences.

  • Help using recursion in Java

    - by Mercer
I have a class Group. In the class I have two fields, idGroup IdGroupGroup. Groups may be part of other groups. My class Group is defined in a HashMap<Integer,Integer>; the key is IdGroupGroup and value is idGroup. I want to search the map for a particular idGroup; can I use recursion to do this?

  • Third monitor randomly defaults to 640 x 480 on startup

    - by ajbdev
I purchased a PowerColor HD 5770 video card so I could get a third monitor working. I have two widescreen monitors, one attached via HDMI and the other attached via DVI. My third monitor is attached from DisplayPort to VGA (using a passive connector like this one) The third monitor is a 19" Hyundai L90D. I was unable to find any Windows 7 (or Vista for that matter) drivers for the monitor, so it's stuck with "Generic Non-PNP Monitor". It's native resolution is 1280 x 1024. Randomly Windows will boot up in the correct native res, but sometimes it boots up in 640 x 480 res. When it does boot up into 640 x 480 res, the screen resolution slider is stuck and I cannot slide it back to 1280 x 1024. I cannot find a pattern for when or why it will do this, I've tried rebooting five or six times in a row at times to get it to boot into native res, but this doesn't always work.

  • How can I exclude a file in a folder from basic auth (regex help)?

    - by simon180
Hi I have a folder on my site which contains admin files and I've added basic auth following a little unwanted attention. This works fine however a couple of the admin functions won't work through basic auth as they handle file uploads and so I want to exclude these files from the auth. It shouldn't have any security implications as any rogue user wouldn't be able to access the pages that could create a session to use these functions. I am using the following basic code to exclude a file: <FilesMatch "(index.php\/myadminfolder\/myurl\/myaction/someotherstuff?)$"> Satisfy Any Order allow, deny Allow from all Deny from none </FilesMatch> The URL exclusion is not working. The URL to exclude is in the form: index.php/directory/subdirectory/action/uniqueid/blah What is the correct URL string to add to FilesMatch to exclude any files that start with the pattern of index.php/directory/subdirectory/action - regardless of what comes after action? Thanks Simon

  • Using Entity Framework V4 - Mapping Stored Procedures with XML output

    - by ericwahner
I have been attempting to implement the Entity framework into my project and unfortunately it seems like mapping an XML result set from SQL is not something that is supported. I also have issues with returning multiple result sets, though I understand that the EFExtensions was created to try to mitigate that issue. Is there a way to take a FOR XML EXPLICIT result from a SQL Stored Procedure and map it using the Entity Framework?
