  • Which methods are good to overwrite when creating custom NSManagedObject subclasses?

    The Core Data Programming Guide talks a lot about what not to overwrite. So the question is: What is good to overwrite? Like I see it, I can't overwrite -init or -initWithEntity:insertIntoManagedObjectContext: So where else would be a good overwrite point to set up some basic stuff? Or is it generally not needed to do custom initialization? Does the whole thing rely only on accessing properties which then start to do fancy things? So no custom initializations?

  • Are there any lightweight analogues to CORBA/RPC for embedded programs?

    I am writing embedded applications for different hardware (avr, arm7, tms55xx…) and different rtoses (freeRTOS, rtx, dsp/bios). And every second of them needs to communicate with PC or another digital device. Sometimes interactions logic is very advanced. So I'm interesting in common methodology (like state-machine programming style), protocol specification or library, that could simplify developing such things.

Now I'm looking learning a bit more, such as what libraries are commonly used? I want to start getting into Threading but have no idea to start.     I was just reading a bit about the HQ9+ programming language ( http://esolangs.org/wiki/HQ9 , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HQ9%2B and http://www.cliff.biffle.org/esoterica/hq9plus.html ), and it tells me something about a so called 'accumulator' which can be incremented, but not be accessed.     Does MySql 5.1 and SQL Server 2008 (Web edition, Standard) have any functional password limitations other than length limits? Are metacharacters in any form a bad idea to use, like bang, pipe, hash, any slash, carrot, and so on? I know that MySql 5.1 has a password length limitation of 16 characters that is hardcoded, but I was wondering, are any metacharacters (i.e. non alphanumerics) a bad idea to use? And is this true in SQL Server 2008 Web edition, Standard? So specifically: can symbols like: /`~:}{[]^ be used successfully? I would hope it doesn't matter to the database, but I don't understand enough about password storage in enterprise database systems yet to know for sure, and I was looking for confirmation or an explanation.

  • VS 2008, is there a way to search properties like the old vb6/EVB? CTRL+SHIFT?

    I really miss the CTRL+SHIFT+CHAR searching of a property in VS 2008 that older IDE's had... typing CTRL+SHIFT+T got you to "tabindex" then Tag when pressed again. They dropped it in VS 2002 I believe, and the closest I could find to restoring any functionality like it was acorn's property window filter, which isn't exactly functional. Does anyone know of a way to get this functionality back? I hate having to browse through 30-40 properties in design mode, when a CTRL+SHIFT+T would get me right to text. Thanks!

EDIT newly I hear that there is 2 versions of using MVC in servlet programming, I hear that in MVC1 there is kind of coupling between controller and view , but in MVC2 they overtake it, if someone know whether this is right or wrong I'll be very thankful.
