  • Problem with tomcat and getLocalHost exception

    I'm running a Linux server named S1 in a "cloud" server, and when tomcat 6.0.24 starts, I get the exception: org.apache.catalina.connector.Connector pause SEVERE: Protocol handler pause failed java.net.UnknownHostException: S1: S1 at java.net.InetAddress.getLocalHost(InetAddress.java:1353) at org.apache.jk.common.ChannelSocket.unLockSocket(ChannelSocket.java:485) Which then leads to: ERROR ehcache.Cache - Unable to set localhost. This prevents creation of a GUID. Cause was: Sjira1: S1 java.net.UnknownHostException: S1: S1 at java.net.InetAddress.getLocalHost(InetAddress.java:1353) at net.sf.ehcache.Cache.<clinit>(Cache.java:143) My hosts file is: 127.0.0.1 localhost localhost.localdomain (valid-ip-address) S1 S1.(valid domain name) ping S1 and S1.(valid domain name) return valid ip address nslookup S1.(valid domain name) returns valid ip address nslookup S1 throws ** server can't find S1: NXDOMAIN Any ideas about how to fix this ?     Hi, I'd like to know how to configure tomcat 6 in order to be able to replace a file from a war - for instance an image or a jsp - so I don't need to restart the server to keep it updated. I assume I'll have to deploy it as a directory - not just copying the war file to webapp ? Thanks.

    Hi, I'm running ubuntu 9.10 which has gcc4 (libstdc++6) installed, and I need to install a program that requires libstdc++5 that comes with gcc3. I don't see gcc-3 listed when I run "apt-cache search" so: Is it necessary to install gcc-3 to achieve libstdc++5 ? If so where can I get it ? Is there a way to install just libstdc++5 Would a soft link to libstdc++6 do or is it not recommended ? Thanks

    Hi, I recently stopped the postgresql database (that was working perfectly), and after a couple of days, when I try to start it, I get the errors: 2011-01-03 23:56:27 CLST LOG: could not translate host name "localhost", service "5432" to address: Name or service not known 2011-01-03 23:56:27 CLST WARNING: could not create listen socket for "localhost" 2011-01-03 23:56:27 CLST FATAL: could not create any TCP/IP sockets I'm running Ubuntu 9.1, and I'm using the usuals /etc/init.d/postgresql-8.4 start and stop Any hints ?

I have the following time mismatch problem: When apache log to its access-log file, the date/time is correct. When a grails app running on tomcat inserts date-related information in the DB, the time is three hours ahead Any tips on how to fix tomcat's datetime problem ? Thanks

  • Problem starting X in unbuntu 10.10

    Hi, I recently installed ubuntu 10.10 on my old toshiba a100 (where I've been running XP with no problems for ages). The installation went fine, I can log in with my user account, but after that the screen has only the wallpaper (and the mouse is enabled). Any hints on how to troubleshoot it ? These are the Xorg and the messages log files. Thanks When booted in safe graphics mode it worked just fine. Is there a way to set that configuration as the default so I don't have to go through those menus every time I boot ?

  • Turning a (dual boot) Ubuntu 9 into a virtual machine

    I have a dual boot box (Ubuntu 9 and Vista) and I'm about to upgrade Vista to Win 7. Being Ubuntu my main development environment, I'd like to use it as it is from the new environment via VirtualBox or VMWare. I know tools like clonezilla that backup entire drives; in my case, the linux partitions are distributed between several disks which in turn contain both linux and windows data. My intention is to use some backup tool (like Clonezilla if it fits) that allows me to ONLY backup the linux partitions distributed in several disks. Any hints ? Thanks in advance.

    Hi, I developed a page using the latest prototype and scriptaculous versions and after cleaning it up thoroughly, the only browser where my scripts work is ... chrome! Some things don't work at all with ie7(eg BlindUp), and some validations fail with ie8 and firefox 3.5. Any success stories to contradict this ? (Any tips will be appreciated).

    Hi, In a controller, I have populated a map that has a string as key and a list as value; in the gsp, I try to show them like this: <g:each in="${sector}" var="entry" > <br/>${entry.key}<br/> <g:each in="${entry.value}" var="item" > ${item.name}<br/> </g:each> </g:each> The problem is that item is considered as string, so I get the exception Error 500: Error evaluating expression [item.name] on line [11]: groovy.lang.MissingPropertyException: No such property: nombre for class: java.lang.String Any hints on how to fix it other than doing the find for the item explicitly in the gsp ?

    Hi, I'm trying to interate a struts 1.3.8 app with jcaptcha-1.0; I added the jcaptcha jar to the app lib and added <%@ taglib uri="jcaptcha" prefix="jcaptcha"%> to my form The app couldn't find the file, so I added the following to the web.xml file <taglib-uri>jcaptcha</taglib-uri> <taglib-location>/WEB-INF/lib/jcaptcha-1.0-all.jar</taglib-location> </taglib> And now I get the null pointer exception: org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Unable to read TLD "META-INF/taglib.tld" from JAR file Any clues ?     Hi, I have the following xml file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <c1> <c2 id="0001" n="CM" urlget="/at/CsM" urle="/E/login.jsp"> </c2> <c2 id="0002" n="C2M" urlget="/a2t/CsM" urle="/E2/login.jsp"> </c2> </c1> I'm trying to load c2's attributes this way: Document d = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance() .newDocumentBuilder() .parse("epxy.xml"); Element c1 = d.getDocumentElement(); Element c2 = (Element)c1.getFirstChild(); while (c2 != null) { ... c2 = (Element)c2.getNextSibling(); } But I get the exception java.lang.ClassCastException: org.apache.xerces.dom.DeferredTextImpl incompatible with org.w3c.dom.Element in the line Element c2 = (Element)c1.getFirstChild(); before the loop.
