• Internal Code Signing: Key Distribution, or Certificate Server?

  I should first note that we have nobody in IT with significant familiarity with self-signed certification. We have a moderately sprawling network (one forest, many locations), and we are now rolling out internal code signing; until now users have run untrusted code, or we even disabled(!) the warnings. Intranet applications, scripts, and sites will now be signed with self certification. I am aware of two obvious ways we can deploy this: Distributing the keys directly via a group policy, and setting up a cert server. Can someone explain the trade-offs between these two methods? How many certs before the group policy method is unwieldy? Are they large enough that remote users will have issues? Does the group policy method distribute duplicates on every login? Is there a better method I am not aware of? I can find a lot of documentation on certifications and various ways to create them, but I have not been able to find something that summarizes the difference between the distribution methods and what criteria make one or the other superior.

• Creating a test database with copied data *and* its own data

  I'd like to create a test database that each day is refreshed with data from the production database. BUT, I'd like to be able to create records in the test database and retain them rather than having them be overwritten. I'm wondering if there is a simple straightforward way to do this. Both databases run on the same server, so apparently that rules out replication? For clarification, here is what I would like to happen: Test database is created with production data I create some test records that I want to keep running on the test server (basically so I can have example records that I can play with) Next day, the database is completely refreshed, but the records I created that day are retained. Records that were untouched that day are replaced with records from the production database. The complication is if a record in the production database is deleted, I want it to be deleted on the test database too, so I do want to get rid of records in the test database that no longer exist in the production database, unless those records were created within the test database. Seems like the only way to do this would be to have some sort of table storing metadata about the records being created? • virtual web folder served by PHP script

  I am trying to configure my apache to be able to display (virtual) pages like: mywebpage.com/something1 mywebpage.com/something2 mywebpage.com/folder/something3 I would like these "somethingX" and "folder" folders to be only virtual, not physical directories. For a start it would be great to send all requests to mywebpage to one PHP script which will somehow receive the original path information (there is some SERVER array as far as I know) and call necessary PHP functions (so far I use addresses like mywebpage.com/index.php?page=blabla&otherparameters=values...). Is that possible? I am struggling with different combination, currently I am with following file in /etc/apache2/conf.d/something.conf (not working of course). What is the correct way to proceed? • ERROR: Not enough space?

  Now this is a very unspecific question. I'm trying to figure out what this message would mean. Here is the story behind it: I'm installing Oracle enterprise manager cloud control (12c r3) on Solaris 10 (5/09). Installer opens up, i enter all needed information and at the last step click Install. It immediately crashes with only "ERROR: Not enough space" written in log and console and nothing else. Now, this could be java error or Solaris error? I'm thinking it's happening either when it starts to copy files or when it tries to launch a process that would do that. What space is it referring to? disk (have ehough), swap (also), memory (yep)... Any ideas are helpful. Today i want to test my backup possibility, so i restore the backup data to another location not original location. I dismount the database and then delete the all files under the database location. last I copy back the files from back up location to database location. When i want to mount the database. • How to make quicksilver remember custom trigger

  I am trying to make a custom trigger for my shell/apple script file to run so I can just launch my dev environment at the push of a button. So basically: I have a shell script(and some apple script included) in ~ named start_server.sh which does 3 things: start up solr server start up memcached start up script/server I have a saved quicksilver command(.qs) that opens up start_server.sh(so start_server.sh, then the action is "Run in Terminal") I created a custom trigger that calls this saved qs command. I did that then tested it and it works. I then tried to double check it so I quit quicksilver and when I checked the triggers it just said: "Open (null)" as the action. I set the trigger again and when i restarted QS the same thing happened again. I don't know why but my old custom trigger to open terminal has worked since forever so why doesn't this one work? • Upgrading to Java 7u65 breaks my Deployment Rule Set for Oracle applications

  My company uses an older version of an Oracle application that requires Java 6u45. Naturally we want to be secure, so we use a Deployment Rule Set to specify 6u45 for that internal application and let other applications use 7u60. Now that we're ready to upgrade the Java 7 half to 7u67, the Oracle application breaks with "Deployment Rule Set required version 1.6.0_45 not available." Of course it is available, it just can't find it for some reason. As a test, I specified that JavaTester.org should use 6u45 also and it works fine with no issues. But when I try to use the same configuration (7u67 and 6u45) against the Oracle application it fails every time. If I downgrade to 7u60, it works. 7u65 or higher, it breaks. The Oracle application hasn't changed so it must be something different in how 7u65+ is handling Deployment Rule Sets or pathing or something.   Sorry for what is most likely NOT a very intelligent question, but my non-sysadmin brain is struggling to understand what is causing my problem. Basically, I wan't to enable reverse proxying on a IIS8 box. I read though this article: http://www.iis.net/learn/extensions/url-rewrite-module/reverse-proxy-with-url-rewrite-v2-and-application-request-routing And I've installed the ARR extension from here: http://www.iis.net/downloads/microsoft/application-request-routing Now, I enabled the proxying (as explained in the MS tutorial), and I felt the other setting as they where (again, as instructed in the tutorial). My rule looks like the following <rule name="Reverse Proxy to payroll" stopProcessing="true"> <match url="^mytest/(.*)" /> <action type="Rewrite" url="http://localhost:8282/{R:1}" /> </rule> But alas, it doesn't work. If I change it to a "normal" rewrite rule, as in <rule name="Reverse Proxy to payroll" stopProcessing="true"> <match url="^mytest/(.*)" /> <action type="Rewrite" url="/{R:1}" /> </rule> Then it works. So, it must differently be something with the reverse proxy. Any idea what gives?

  I have postfix v2.6.6 running on CentOS 6.3, hostname priest.ocsl.local (private, internal domain) with a number of aliases supportpeople: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] requests: "|/opt/rt4/bin/rt-mailgate --queue 'general' --action correspond --url http://localhost/", supportpeople help: "|/opt/rt4/bin/rt-mailgate --queue 'help' --action correspond --url http://localhost/", supportpeople If I leave postfix with its default configuration, then the aliases are resolved correctly/as I expect, so that incoming mail to, say, [email protected] will be piped through the rt-mailgate mailgate command and also be delivered (via the mail server for ocsl.co.uk (a publicly resolvable domain)) to [email protected], user2, etc. The problem comes when I define mydomain = ocsl.co.uk in /etc/postfix/main.cf (with the intention that outgoing mail come from, for example, [email protected]). • Changing the View of a Folder When It Is Opened from Finder

  When I was running OS 10.4 I had all my folders beautifully organized with position and which ones should be opened in View mode and which one in Icon, etc. When I transitioned to 10.6 I found that OS ignored all that information and imposes an awful consequence of changing the view for some folder and that view moving up to all parent folders which don't have their views locked. The only way I can think of to get this functionality back is to either write a program that given a root directory will enumerate it setting the views based upon a static template I have. The other way I thought I could accomplish this is by Folder Actions. Aside from the fact that I don't know AppleScript it seems folder actions cannot be inherited. Since I have 1000s of folders involved here, all being inherited from a single root, I could not possibly manually add that action to each of those folders. What I would like to have is a folder action that whenever I open the folder from Finder, then if it contains any JPG, GIF, etc. type image files that it will automatically open that folder with a view of Icon with a reasonable size to support the number of images. If the folder contains only folders, then to open that folder in the list view. Does anyone have anything that could do this for me? Thank You, -- Mark

• Windows OS level file open event trigger

  Colleagues, I have need to run a script/program on certain basic OS level events. In particular when a file in Windows is opened. The open may be read-only or to edit, and may be initiated by a number of means, either from windows explorer (open or ), be selected from a viewing or editing application from the native file chooser, or drag-n-drop into an editing or viewing application. Further, i need the trigger to "hold" the event from completing the action until the runtime on the program has completed. The event handler program may return a pass state, or fail state. If fail state has been returned, then the event must disallow the initially requested action. Lastly, I need to add to the file in question a property or attribute that will contain metadata that will be used by the above event trigger handler program to make a determination as to the pass/fail condition that will ultimately determine if the user is permitted to open the file. • Web shortcuts (.url) not working on Windows 7

  I'm experiencing several symptoms, but I believe they are all related to web link files not working. First, I can't create we link files anymore. When I try New Shortcut and put an URL, I get the following error message: Second, existent shortcuts are not working. The default context menu action (or double-click) is Print, which simply prints an empty page. If I try to see its properties, there's no URL there. Third, IE bookmarks are also not working. One difference is that the default action is Open, IE does nothing when I click it. Adding a new bookmark only creates one more dead link file. I'm almost sure this problem occurred after I tried to install IE 7 on Windows 7. Unfortunately, it didn't work because the OS seems to be bound to IE 8. I already tried to reinstall/repair IE 8, but it made no difference. Does anyone experienced a similar problem? I need a working solution, but I welcome any reasonable suggestion.

  Hello all, I'm trying to parse some returned html to look for currently playing movies. The pattern I'm trying to match looks like: <span dir=ltr>Clash of the Titans</span> Of which there are several in the returned html. (the html is huge, I've posted a sample at the bottom) I'm trying get an array of the movie titles with the following command: titles = listings_html.split(/(<span dir=ltr>).*(<\/span>)/) But I'm not getting the results I'm expecting. Can anyone see a problem with my approach or regex?   I'm in process of migrating a JSF 1.2 application to JSF 2.x. My application is using the following APIs: maven-jetty-plugin (version 6.1.10) maven-compiler-plugin (version 2.3.1) myfaces-api & -impl (version 1.2.7) jsf-facelets (version 1.1.14) richfaces (version 3.3.3) javax servlet jstl (version 1.2) javax servlet-api (version 2.5) and some other plugins as well. I updated the versions in faces-config.xml file and removed Facelets 1.1.14 libs and replaced MyFaces 1.2 by JSF 2.x libs, however the application didn't work. • iPhone UITextField - Change placeholder text color

  I'd like to change the color of the placeholder text I set in my UITextField controls, to make it black. I'd prefer to do this without using normal text as the placeholder and having to override all the methods to imitate the behaviour of a placeholder. I believe if I override this method.. - (void)drawPlaceholderInRect:(CGRect)rect ..then I should be able to do this. But I'm unsure how to access the actual placeholder object from within this method.

  Basics Hi all, I have see the tableToGrid method (by Peter Romianowski) defined as tableToGrid(selector, options) on the jqGrid wiki, but cannot find anywhere that has documentation of the options Does anyone know about these or where to find them? More What Im actually trying to do is encase the resulting jqGrid in a form, which will submit the checkbox values that are in a column of the table. My problem is that the tableToGrid method appears to be removing the name property from the checkbox elements and hence they are not being submitted with the form post.
