  • Error authenticating git repository with Redmine

    - by woni
I've setup Redmine 2.1 on my Debian Squeeze server following this Tutorial HowTo configure Redmine for advanced git integration (I tried to use the grack path). Redmine server is running properly, but I have a problem granting users access to git repositories. When I try to clone a repository it says: error: The requested URL returned error: 500 while accessing The apache error.log shows this entry: [Fri Sep 28 15:50:56 2012] [crit] [client xx.xx.xx.xx] configuration error: couldn't check user. Check your authn provider!: /repo.git/info/refs It also asks me for user and password when cloning, but it shouldn't if I understand the tutorial right. I'm using the Redmine authentication module: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName my.server.at DocumentRoot "/var/www/my.server.at/public" PerlLoadModule Apache::Redmine <Directory "/var/www/my.server.at/public"> Options None AllowOverride None Order allow, deny Allow from all </Directory> SetEnv REMOTE_USER=$REDIRECT_REMOTE_USER" SetEnv GIT_PROJECT_ROOT /var/git/my.server.at/ SetEnv GIT_HTTP_EXPORT_ALL ScriptAlias /git/ /usr/lib/git-core/git-http-backend <Location /> Order allow, deny Allow from all AuthType Basic AuthName Git Require valid-user AuthBasicAuthoritative Off AuthUserFile /dev/null AuthGroupFile /dev/null PerlAccessHandler Apache::Authn::Redmine::access_handler PerlAuthenHandler Apache::Authn::Redmine::authen_handler RedmineDSN "DBI:mysql:database=redmine;host=localhost" RedmineDbUser "user" RedmineDbPass "password" RedmineGitSmartHttp yes </Location> </VirtualHost> Can someone help me please and explain the error and what I can do to solve my problem?

  • Use a RAID Controller without drivers?

    - by cian1500ww
Ordered an Adaptec 1420SA RAID card for my Debian Squeeze media server but didn't check to see if it was compatible, turns out it's not because it uses something called hostRAID which requires special drivers that aren't available for Debian. Could I still use the card as an ordinary controller and just use OS software RAID?? I'm not looking for speed, just need to mirror some drives that will be used for storage, the OS will reside on a disk connected to the server's onboard controller so the system won't be booting from any drives on the Adaptec controller.

  • Using SSH, transfer webURL to remote machine

    - by AlanTuring
Hi so i was doing some research in the library so i could use some pictures later on my Desktop computer in my room. I have space on my Lab account which i usually SSH into, and i was wondering if URL's can be directly transferred over to a remote machine and saved on the hard disk. I was thinking something like this: scp http://click.si.edu/images/truncatedurl.jpg /home3/etc.../filename.jpg is this possible? Thanks in advance.

  • Small maximum number of connections on a Linux router

    - by Eugene
I have a Linux box acting as a router with no iptables or other firewall and no networking applications running on it, just pure router. I've put it in a test environment that generates many TCP connections, each having unique source and destination IP, and those connections go through this router. I'm observing that number of connections successfully created rise to approximately 500 and then no more connections can be created for several minutes, then another 100 connections can be created and there is another pause, and so on. If 10 connections for each source-destination pair are created, then maximum numbers go about 10 times up, so the problem is probably with many connections from different IPs. As traffic is simply routed, it doesn't have to do with number of file descriptors, iptables connection tracking and other things often proposed to check in similar cases. The box has plenty of free RAM and CPU, both NICs are gigabit. The kernel is 2.6.32. I've already tried increasing net.core.*mem_max, net.core.netdev_max_backlog and txqueuelen on both NICs, with completely no effect. What else should I check ? Is there some rate-limit in the kernel itself ?

  • Why do my VMware Images get so large?

    - by stevebot
Hi, I have a Centos VMware Image that I have recreated a couple times, and I notice that after a while it gets pretty large. It starts out at 8 GBs when I make it, and a week or two later it is 25GB and then a month later it is a whole 50GB or so. I am not installing anything crazy on it, and my disk usage on the VM is pretty low. Is there an option that could be affecting the size of these VMs?

  • Trouble with installing Ubuntu 14.04 alongside Windows 8.1

    - by user3121138
I work with Windows 8.1 and today I installed Ubuntu 14.04 alongside it, but now I can't set the boot menu to display both OS. When I boot the system it normally loads Windows 8.1 without opening the boot menu. I created a boot USB with Yumi. When booting with Yumi and selecting "boot from hard disk", Ubuntu turned on. My drives: My laptop is a Fujitsu Lifebook AH532/G52 and the BIOS is a Phoenix v1.10

  • Installing ArchLinux into Ubuntu 12.04 root

    - by Johnny
Is it possible to install 2 linux distros into 1 root, so they share same uuid and guid, configs and packages + same user /home folder ? For example: I have Ubuntu and Windows 7 already in dual boot on my laptop. Could I install Arch's base, base-devel and kernel, so it won't conflict with Ubuntu on the same root folder? P.S I don't feel like repartitioning my drive again, 'cause there's very complicated hierarchy, which occupies the entire disk. =)

  • How to move the files of a replicated database (SQL Server 2008 R2) to a different drive

    - by ileon
I would appreciate if someone could help me with the following problem: We use two SQL Server 2008 R2 databases under transactional replication: transactional publication with updatable subscriptions. because we run out of disk space we need to move the database files into a new drive. But I don't want to break the replication. What I'm looking for are the required steps that will help me to move the files to the new drive. Thanks

  • What is the fastest method to restore MySQL replication?

    - by dwhere
I have a MySQL (5.1) master-slave replication pair and replication to the slave has failed. It failed because the master ran out of disk space and the relay-logs became corrupt. The master is now back online and working properly. Since there is this error in the log the slave process can't simply be restarted. The server has a single 40GB InnoDB database and I would like to know what is the fastest method for getting the slave back in sync to minimize downtime.

  • Howto get exit code of a script started in screen session

    - by Bettina
Hi folks, I am currently creating a backup script which uses screen to start a backup job with rsync inside a screen session. The backup jobs are started as follows. screen -dmS backup /usr/bin/rsync ... As soon as the rsync job is finished, the screen session is terminated automatically. To make sure, that the backup was successful, I would like to check the exit code of the rsync job but unfortunately I really don't know how to get the exit code after the screen was terminated. Does someone have a good idea how to automatically check, if the rsync job was successful or not? Would be great if someone does. I already thought about using a temp file but like this: screen -dmS myScreen "rsync -av ... ; echo $? /tmp/myExitCode" but this unfortunately does not work. Then I thought about using stderr like in the example below: screen -dmS myScreen "rsync -av ... 2 /tmp/rsync-sterr None of my ideas worked out so far, since stderr is not written when I use the command above. :-( ? Would be great if someone has a good idea or even a solution. Cheers, Bettina

  • .php file blank - .php5 files works

    - by Kleidi
I have a problem with a server of mine. I've installed virtualmin/webin on it for administration and I have 1 domain on it. DNS management is external. On this domain I only have an html "Under Construction" index and 5 subdomains. In all those subdomains I have PHP systems running perfectly. I've tried to install Wordpress on the main domain and I'm having some issues: None .php files loads. I have made a phpinfo file on it to check it and it won't work either; only a blank page appears. When I check the source code of it in browser, appears the code. I have changed the extensions to .php5 and it worked perfectly. Something is going wrong with it but I can't figure out what. I have checked the apache error and nothing appears. 3 Days ago I upgraded from php 5.2.* to 5.4.21. Server is running CentOS 5.10.

  • slow startup of event viewer on windows 7 but fast on server 2008

    - by Tim
Hi, Since switching to Windows 7 for my desktop I've started to get really p***ed off at the length of time it takes to start the event viewer to display the application event log (typically 20-30 secs or disk griding - presumably to load and cache all the events) I've just noticed that on server 2008 R2 it seems instantaneous. Is my experience typical? Is there any setting I can tweak to make it fast on Windows 7 as well? Tim

  • Windows 7 reboot and freezing, possible power problems?

    - by mikelbring
My Gateway LX Series desktop is about 6-8 months old. When I bought it, it had Windows Vista. I then put the RC version of Windows 7 on it. About 3 months after I bought it, it would randomly start to reboot, actually just shut off. I monitored the temperature levels and they seemed normal. So I installed a fresh Windows 7 Ultimate OEM 64bit. It actually got worse and would reboot more frequently. I then contacted Gateway and they said my machine was built for Windows Vista (made me chuckle), and told me to update my BIOS. So I did, and it was fixed for a good couple months. Recently, it started to do it again. Now I noticed early on it was doing it most often, if not every time when I was either watching a flash video or playing a flash game. So I decided to download the drivers again and I also downloaded my motherboard drivers. Seemed to be okay. A week later it started doing it again. And now it's doing it even more frequently. Sometimes I would turn it on, login into Windows and *BAM!* it would shut off. Now I am at the point where I can hardly get it to turn on. It would freeze at the point where it says "Starting Windows", with the Windows logo. Sometimes it would say "Checking disk for consistency" or whatever and freeze there (not shut off, just freeze). I even got the prompt to launch startup repair. But that also freezes when it says starting Windows. It does not really freeze, just never loads up. I am kind of lost as to what's going on. I have a few ideas but nothing I want to pursue (graphics card? hard drive?). Another thing I did try was to boot into a live disk of Ubuntu and try to launch every program I could and get on the internet but I never got it to reboot. So it sounds like to me it's a Windows thing, but I have no idea. I am just stuck and would like to see if any one has any ideas or could lead me in the right direction.

  • How do i play nicely with MS SQL/SQL Server 2008

    - by acidzombie24
Big problem. I have nearly given up. I am trying to port my prototype to use MS SQL so it will work on a server once i get it (the server will be SQL Server 2008, shared, i dont know any more info). So i tried to connect to SQL Server via visual studios IDE and had no luck. I enabled TCP and named pipes and restarted the service (and computer) with still no luck. I remembered about mdf files so i made that after an obstacle of not being able to make the connect string require i figure out visual studio has it in its properties and successfully connected with that. Then i had a problem with nested transactions. After not being able to figure out how to check i wondered if i can configure it to allow it somehow. I always thought all of MS were the same except for limitations but sql server seems to support nested transactions so theres no point trying to work around the problem with .mdf files since i wont need them and really just used it to port the base of my sql code and to check if syntax is correct. I tried installing SQL Server Management Studio since people mentioned it several times (as a solution or at least help). When installing it on windows 7 it says it may not be compatible. After running it, it launched SQL Server Installation Center (64-bit) which doesnt seem to be the same thing as i dont see a way to modify any of my server (networking) configurations or edit user permissions, etc. I am clueless what to do next. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm posting here bc i think my problem is more configurations and sql server then programming.

  • Minimize writes to SSD disks with Windows 7

    - by mfn
Most people use their SSD as their primary system installation disk with Windows 7. W7 already has a lot of optimizations for SSDs, both in terms of performance and lifetime. Minimizing writes increases the lifetime of SSDs, so post each suggestion as an answer and let others vote on them.

  • How to create a ghost environment?

    - by manwood
I want to create a ghost or image of a fresh Windows XP development environment with all the various bits of software installed and ready to go, so that when the OS gets clogged or the main disk fails I can simply install the ghost rather than having to run through the entire install and setup process all over again. What is the best way to go about doing this? Cheers.

    - by user23950
I'm trying to clone my windows xp installation. If I back it up using clone zilla and the my xp machine is infected by virus/spyware would I also be bringing the whole mess when I try to back it up. Do I need the whole partition/ whole disk if I use an external hard drive to backup. Would the data be formatted on the partition that I choose?

  • Windows7: Gaining administrator rights in CLI without being prompted for password

    - by liori
Hello, I am trying to write a script which includes disk defragmentation as one of its steps. defrag needs administrative rights to work. I tried to use runas /user:Administrator, but it always asked me for password (even though there isn't one set). The script needs to run unattended for a long time, and it needs to be started from standard user account (it is actually being run by cygwin), so I'd like to get rid of that prompt. Is this possible? Thanks,
