• Different animations for Jquery ui tabs

  I'm using jquery ui tabs widget. I've not used a jquery theme as i prefer to do my own css and stuff. I've got it working, but what i'd like is to have a different animation effect for the tab content when a different tab is clicked. What i'd like is for the new tab content to slide in from the left. At the moment i have: $("#tabs").tabs({ fx: {slide: 'slow' } }); }); I know the code above is just slide and not slide left but it doesn't even do a slide! I have downloaded the slide effects as part of my custom ui download. I don't know why it isn't working! Is it some css that i'm lacking?! I don't know!!!

• jQuery: I need something like ':visible' that works even if the parent is display=none

  I have a list where elements are hidden for multiple reasons, each corresponding to a css class i.e: <style> .filteredOut { display: none; } .somethingElse { display : none; } ... </style> I want to apply alternating css classes via .filter(':even').addClass('even') but only to classes that are visible. The problem is that the parent is hidden when this happens so .filter(':visible') returns 0 elements. I need something like .filter(':visibileEventIfParentIsNot') Further more, I'd rather not have to call a function with this in it every time I call a function that changes what's visible in a list. This may be a pipe dream, but is there a way to do this ala live() or something similar? I'm open to off the wall ideas.

So, i'm need to each articles of the page (these articles are dynamic) and verify, in a local xml how articles are read.To article read i'm set a determinated css class,and if not, another css class.   I'm trying to display some large images with HTML img tags. At the moment they go off the edge of the screen; how can I scale them to stay within the browser window? Or in the likely event that this is not possible, is it possible to at least say "display this image at 50% of its normal width and height"? The width and height attributes distort the image -- as far as I can tell, this is because they refer to whatever attributes the container may end up with, which will be unrelated to the image. I can't specify pixels because I have to deal with a large collection of images each with a different pixel size. Max-width doesn't work.

  Hello. I am designing a 960px wide layout with an unordered list. Each list item is 240px wide, so 4 list items fit horizontally in a row. I have about 20 rows on the page.... I want every other list item to have a background of #ececec, so my css would be: ul li:nth-child(2n+2){ background-color:#ececec; } This works. The only problem is because there are 4 items in a row (an even #), the next row would be identical, thus rendering background colors on every 1st and 3rd list items in a row. This is not the effect I am looking to achieve. I want the background colors to alternate, creating a grid-like effect. What is the correct css to do so (think a checker board). Thanks!

• problem with the drop down menu with jquery

  I have a tabled view in a while loop, where a user can view information on books. For example, book ISBN, book name, read status... Basically, when the user sets their 'readstatus' to 'complete' I want that specific table row to become grey! The logic is very straight forward, however I can't get my IF statement to recognise this: $readstatus = $_GET['readstatus']; if ($readstatus == 'complete') { echo '<tr class="completed">'; } else if ($readstatus != 'complete') { echo '<tr class="reading">'; } I'm obviously doing something wrong here, but all I need is the CSS class of the table row to change if the value of 'readstatus' = 'complete', if not, then output the default CSS table row color ('reading') Should I be putting $result as the variable or something?   Since I don't know much about jquery mobile, CSS, i don't know what we call this. I want to create a splitview like Android gmail app (image attached). but i am not sure how to create arrow cut on the active (clicked) listview only (like shown in the image) and other listview are normal. Can someone guide me how to approach it. Sorry for confusing everyone. Updated the image with black circle. the nice inward arrow (shown under black circle) is what i am looking for. As you see this inward arrow will appear only for the active left side listview only and others will have a straight line, also left side has a distinct appearance. I want to know the approach for these using jquery mobile, jquery, css etc.

  I'm trying to draw text on NSView subclass. I'm using an NSTextStorage, an NSLayoutManager, and an NSTextContainer.   I have the datalist = 62, 76, 80, 72, 71, 75, 77 that i want to present as a 2D line drawed point to point. In my Wpf application i have a canvas with the height: 173 and width: 455. How do i go about it and draw a line by my datalist and use almost the whole height of the canvas? as it is now the data is just represented on a line at the bottom at the canvas, not using (and therefor giving a bad representation of the data) whole heigh of the canvas. It would also be nice to place it in the center of the box too...

  A similar question was already asked, but does not have a satisfying answer. I want to change the CSS style for the map type selection buttons (which are actually DIVs that don't have a CSS class). The links in the referenced question show how to subclass controls, but the examples don't seem to work for GMapTypeControl. Tried the following function CustomGMapTypeControl() {} CustomGMapTypeControl.prototype = new GMapTypeControl() CustomGMapTypeControl.prototype.setButtonStyle_ = function(button) { button.style.backgroundColor = "red"; } but the setButtonStyle_ function doesn't even get called. • Javascript Animation Toogle

  I am new to JavaScript (I had some lessons in school but those were basically basics of all basics :) ) and I am seeking for help with this animation made from scratch. Here is a code that I wrote: http://jsfiddle.net/bPZeH/1/. What it basically does is that it animates height of one div. What I would like to know is, how to write the function startAnimation(), so that if I click on the div while it is being animated, it will reverse animation (for instance: instead of animating height from 150px to 400px it will stop at the current value and then animate back to 150px). I basically want to make toogle from one value to the other. It would also be okay if it were able to toogle only after the animation has finished, but I would prefer the first option.   Is anyone aware of a website or download to reference for the size of UI elements or standard iphone interface stuff? What I mean is something that gives the height of elements like the status bar, tab bar, navigation bar, default tableviewcell height (and such things as width of accessory view, indentation, etc), default icon sizes, default font sizes for UI elements (if they need to be mimicked, for instance), etc etc etc. It's amazing how many times I have to go back to find a reference or estimate the size and position of a standard element. It seems like it would be an invaluable resource that could fit on a printed page or two.

• Using Javascript to detect the bottom of the window and ignoring all events when a request is loading

  I have an anonymous function to detect the user has scrolled to the bottom of the window. Inside of the anonymous function, I have a call to a database that takes a while to complete. var allowing_more = 1; $(window).scroll(function() { if (allowing_more == 1){ if ($(window).scrollTop() + $(window).height() == $(document).height()) { allowing_more = 0; //query allowing_more = 1; } } }); In this time, if the user scrolls to the bottom of the window again, it seems a queue is made holding the occurences the user scrolled to the bottom of the window while the query was loading. Upon completing of the query, these occurences are then executed. I have a boolean statement to detect if the anonymous function is accepting more query requests but this seems to be ignored. Is there some sort of way to ignore an anonymous function temporarily and re-enable it?

Note that these change depending on the product loaded. These are not constants. I would guess the first thing to do was to add the thickbox class. Then I am lost as to what to do next. Basically I need to open up an thickbox iframe with the modified markup.
