  • EMERGENCY! Update Statement for critical mysql production database now running for 18 hours, need help.

    - by Tim
    We have a table with 500 million rows. Unfortunately, one of the columns was int(11), which is a signed int, and it was an incrementing value that just rolled over the 2.1 billion magic number. This immediately caused downtime for about 10.000 users. We discussed many solutions, and decided that we could just roll back this value safely, by say, a billion. But we had to roll it back for every row. Here is what we did: update Table1 Set MessageId = case when MessageId < 1073741824 then 0 else MessageId - 1073741824 end; I tested this on a table with 10 million rows and it took 11 minutes. So I assumed the larger table would take 550 minutes, or 9 hours. This was going to be our biggest downtime in 3 years. (We're a startup). It's now going on 18 hours. What should we do? Please don't say what we should have done. I think we should have updated a few million rows at a time. Is there a way we can see progress? Could Mysql have hung? Using mysql 5.0.22. Thanks!

  • Comparing 128MB GeForce 8600GT and 512MB Radeon X1650

    - by Synetech inc.
    Hi, I'm trying to determine which is the better of these two video cards: 128MB Nvidia GeForce 8600GT card while the other has a 512MB ATI Radeon X1650 card. Both cards are the upper-level mid-range versions of their respective series. On the one hand, the ATI has substantially more VRAM, but the Nvidia supports D3D 10 and SM4.0 as opposed to D3D 9.0c/SM3.0 that the ATI supports. Also, I have always heard better things about Nvidia cards compared to ATI cards. I'm trying to find some advice on which one is better, but I can't find any actual comparisons or anything for these specific cards (the comparisons I can find are only similar ones like the X1650 Pro or 8600GT PCI-E), so I figure that what I need to know is whether the extra VRAM is that important. Looking at the ATI table and the Nvidia table seems to indicate that the Nvidia is better, but then again, the Nvidia table also says that the GeForce 8600GT is a PCI-E card with at least 256MB even though the card in question is an AGP with 128MB. (:-?) (It looks like the ATI card is not supported in Windows 7 while the Nvidia card is, which I suppose is also a factor, though not quite as immediately relevant as performance.) Any ideas? Thanks a lot.

  • Discover intended Foreign Keys from JOINS in scripts

    - by Jason
    I'm inheriting a database that has 400 tables and only 150 foreign key constraints registered. Knowing what I do about the application and looking at the table columns, it's easy to say that there ought to be a lot more. I'm afraid that the current application software will break if I started adding the missing FKs because the developers have probably come to rely on this "freedom", but step one in fixing the problem is to come up with the list of missing FKs so we can evaluate them as a team. To make matters worse, the referencing columns don't share a naming convention. The relationships ARE coded informally into the hundreds of ad-hoc queries and stored procedures, so my hope is to parse these files programmatically looking for JOINS between actual tables (but not table variables, etc). Challenges I foresee in this approach are: newlines, optional aliases and table hints, alias resolution. Any better ideas? (Besides quitting) Are there any pre-built tools that can solve this? I don't think regex can handle this. Do you disagree? SQL Parsers? I tried using Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.SqlParser.Parser but all that is exposed is the lexer - can't get an AST out of it - all that stuff is internal.

  • Team Foundation Server 2012 Build Global List Problems

    - by Bob Hardister
    My experience with the upgrade and use of TFS 2012 has been very positive. I did come across a couple of issues recently that tripped things up for a while. ISSUE 1 The first issue is that 2012 prior to Update 1 published an invalid build list item value to the collection global list. In 2010, the build global list, list item value syntax is an underscore between the build definition and the build number. In the 2012 RTM this underscore was replaced with a backslash, which is invalid.  Specifically, an upload of the global list fails when the backslash is followed at some point by a period. The error when using the API is: <detail ExceptionMessage="TF26204: The account you entered is not recognized. Contact your Team Foundation Server administrator to add your account." BaseExceptionName="Microsoft.TeamFoundation.WorkItemTracking.Server.ValidationException"><details id="600019" http://schemas.microsoft.com/TeamFoundation/2005/06/WorkItemTracking/faultdetail/03"http://schemas.microsoft.com/TeamFoundation/2005/06/WorkItemTracking/faultdetail/03" /></detail> when uploading the global list via the process editor the error is: This issue is corrected in Update1 as the backslash is changed to a forward slash. ISSUE 2 The second issue is that when upgrading from 2010 to 2012, the builds in 2010 are not published to the 2012 global list.  After the upgrade the 2012 global lists doesn’t have any builds and only builds run in 2012 are published to the global list. This was reported to the MSDN forums and Connect. To correct this I wrote a utility to pull all the builds and recreate the builds global list for each project in each collection.  This is a console application with a program.cs, a globallists.cs and a app.config (not published here). The utility connects to TFS 2012, loops through the collections or a target collection as specified in the app.config. Then loops through the projects, the build definitions, and builds.  It creates a global list for each project if that project has at least one build. Then it imports the new list to TFS.  Here’s the code for program and globalists classes. Program.CS using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Framework.Client; using Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Framework.Common; using Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Client; using Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Server; using System.IO; using System.Xml; using Microsoft.TeamFoundation.WorkItemTracking.Client; using System.Diagnostics; using Utilities; using System.Configuration; namespace TFSProjectUpdater_CLC { class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { DateTime temp_d = System.DateTime.Now; string logName = temp_d.ToShortDateString(); logName = logName.Replace("/", "_"); logName = logName + "_" + temp_d.TimeOfDay; logName = logName.Replace(":", "."); logName = "TFSGlobalListBuildsUpdater_" + logName + ".log"; Trace.Listeners.Add(new TextWriterTraceListener(Path.Combine(ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["logLocation"], logName))); Trace.AutoFlush = true; Trace.WriteLine("Start:" + DateTime.Now.ToString()); Console.WriteLine("Start:" + DateTime.Now.ToString()); string tfsServer = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["TargetTFS"].ToString(); GlobalLists gl = new GlobalLists(); //replace this with the URL to your TFS instance. } } else { if (coll.Name.Equals(targetCollection)) { doWork(coll, tfsServer); } } } Trace.WriteLine("Finished:" + DateTime.Now.ToString()); Console.WriteLine("Finished:" + DateTime.Now.ToString()); if (System.Diagnostics.Debugger.IsAttached) { Console.WriteLine("\nHit any key to exit..."); • image processing algorithm in MATLAB

    - by user261002
    I am trying to reconstruct an algorithm belong to this paper: Decomposition of biospeckle images in temporary spectral bands Here is an explanation of the algorithm: We recorded a sequence of N successive speckle images with a sampling frequency fs. In this way it was possible to observe how a pixel evolves through the N images. That evolution can be treated as a time series and can be processed in the following way: Each signal corresponding to the evolution of every pixel was used as input to a bank of filters. The intensity values were previously divided by their temporal mean value to minimize local differences in reflectivity or illumination of the object. The maximum frequency that can be adequately analyzed is determined by the sampling theorem and s half of sampling frequency fs. The latter is set by the CCD camera, the size of the image, and the frame grabber. The bank of filters is outlined in Fig. 1. In our case, ten 5° order Butterworth11 filters were used, but this number can be varied according to the required discrimination. The bank was implemented in a computer using MATLAB software. We chose the Butter-worth filter because, in addition to its simplicity, it is maximally flat. Other filters, an infinite impulse response, or a finite impulse response could be used. By means of this bank of filters, ten corresponding signals of each filter of each temporary pixel evolution were obtained as output. Average energy Eb in each signal was then calculated: where pb(n) is the intensity of the filtered pixel in the nth image for filter b divided by its mean value and N is the total number of images. In this way, en values of energy for each pixel were obtained, each of hem belonging to one of the frequency bands in Fig. 1. With these values it is possible to build ten images of the active object, each one of which shows how much energy of time-varying speckle there is in a certain frequency band. False color assignment to the gray levels in the results would help in discrimination. and here is my MATLAB code base on that : clear all for i=0:39 str = num2str(i); str1 = strcat(str,'.mat'); load(str1); D{i+1}=A; end new_max = max(max(A)); new_min = min(min(A)); for i=20:180 for j=20:140 ts = []; for k=1:40 ts = [ts D{k}(i,j)]; %%% kth image pixel i,j --- ts is time series end ts = double(ts); temp = mean(ts); ts = ts-temp; ts = ts/temp; N = 5; % filter order W = [0.00001 0.05;0.05 0.1;0.1 0.15;0.15 0.20;0.20 0.25;0.25 0.30;0.30 0.35;0.35 0.40;0.40 0.45;0.45 0.50]; N1 = 5; for ind = 1:10 Wn = W(ind,:); [B,A] = butter(N1,Wn); ts_f(ind,:) = filter(B,A,ts); end for ind=1:10 imag_test1{ind}(i,j) =sum((ts_f(ind,:)./mean(ts_f(ind,:))).^2); end end end for i=1:10 temp_imag = imag_test1{i}(:,:); x=isnan(temp_imag); temp_imag(x)=0; temp_imag=medfilt2(temp_imag); t_max = max(max(temp_imag)); t_min = min(min(temp_imag)); temp_imag = (temp_imag-t_min).*(double(new_max-new_min)/double(t_max-t_min))+double(new_min); imag_test2{i}(:,:) = temp_imag; end for i=1:10 A=imag_test2{i}(:,:); B=A/max(max(A)); B=histeq(B); figure,imshow(B) colorbar end but I am not getting the same result as paper. has anybody has aby idea why? or where I have gone wrong? • php soapclient responds as 'null' but xml response is ok using __getLastResponse

    - by Roger S
    I'm looking for help with a php soapclient call: The call is to a remote panel and I want to pull off the log data. There are various services published via the WSDL and I am able to use several with no issues. Here's the list: array(12) { [0]=> string(77) "GetGPTimerChannelsResponse GetGPTimerChannels(GetGPTimerChannels $parameters)" [1]=> string(74) "GetGPTimerChannelResponse GetGPTimerChannel(GetGPTimerChannel $parameters)" [2]=> string(74) "SetGPTimerChannelResponse SetGPTimerChannel(SetGPTimerChannel $parameters)" [3]=> string(47) "GetSlaveResponse GetSlave(GetSlave $parameters)" [4]=> string(71) "GetLogDataInlineResponse GetLogDataInline(GetLogDataInline $parameters)" [5]=> string(71) "GetLogItemInlineResponse GetLogItemInline(GetLogItemInline $parameters)" [6]=> string(59) "GetAlarmListResponse GetAlarmList(GetAlarmList $parameters)" [7]=> string(50) "GetSyslogResponse GetSyslog(GetSyslog $parameters)" [8]=> string(47) "SetSlaveResponse SetSlave(SetSlave $parameters)" [9]=> string(53) "GetVersionResponse GetVersion(GetVersion $parameters)" [10]=> string(53) "GetTDBInfoResponse GetTDBInfo(GetTDBInfo $parameters)" [11]=> string(53) "GetLogItemResponse GetLogItem(GetLogItem $parameters)" } I am trying to use the GetLogDataInline service which requires four parameters - these I'm passing as an array and all seems OK when doing the connection (the request/response takes around 30 seconds to process). When I look at a var_dump / print_r of the result, it returns NULL, whereas when I do a call to the __getLastResponse all of the data I need to populate my local database is there. Below is the code for the soapclient call: $client = new soapclient ("http://192.168.1.126/cgi-bin/cgi.cgi?WSDL", array("trace" => 1, "exceptions" => true, "cache_wsdl" => WSDL_CACHE_NONE, "features" => SOAP_SINGLE_ELEMENT_ARRAYS )); $params = array ( "ResponseType" => "Xml", "Step" => 15, "Start" => "2012-06-14T12:00:00+01:00", "End" => "2012-06-14T23:59:45+01:00" ); $result = $client -> GetLogDataInline ($params); An extract from the var_dump / __getLastResponse is: var_dump($client) object(SoapClient)#1 (4) { ["trace"]= int(1) ["_features"]= int(1) ["_soap_version"]= int(1) ["sdl"]= resource(4) of type (Unknown) } var_dump($result) NULL __getLastResponse 15 2012-06-14T12:00:00+01:00 2012-06-14T23:59:45+01:00 External Temperature Workshop Lux Level Electricity Pulse 100wh Workshop PIR Active Boiler Flow Temp Outside Lux Workshop_Light_Override_Hours Water Consumption (Litres) Electricity kWh Consumption Water Consumption M3 Gas kWh Consumption Outside Lighting Heating Effective Setpoint Router Reset Workshop Lighting State Heating Run Hours Heating On Receptin Percent RH Reception Temp Reception RH Reception Temp 2012-06-14T12:00:00+01:00 -85.6 2.1 -1.0 Off -91.5 13.8 0.0 -1.0 0.0 0.0 -0.1 Off 21.0 Off Off 0.0 Off 53.0 22.0 53.0 22.0 2012-06-14T12:00:15+01:00 -85.4 2.1 -1.0 Off -91.8 13.8 0.0 -1.0 0.0 0.0 -0.1 Off 21.0 Off Off 0.0 Off 53.0 22.0 53.0 22.0 2012-06-14T12:00:30+01:00 -85.4 2.1 -1.0 Off -91.8 13.8 0.0 -1.0 0.0 0.0 -0.1 Off 21.0 Off Off 0.0 Off 53.0 22.0 53.0 22.0 2012-06-14T12:00:45+01:00 -85.4 2.1 -1.0 Off -91.5 13.7 0.0 -1.0 0.0 0.0 -0.1 Off 21.0 Off Off 0.0 Off 54.0 22.0 54.0 22.0 (this should be xml but doesn't appear to have copied correctly) If you've got this far, thanks for taking the time.   • JAVA BubbleSort Output Plotting

    - by John Smith
    I'm not sure how to plot the output I get with my run time results for BubbleSort. Here's the thing: I've written a working BubbleSort algorithm that does exactly as it should. But I wish to plot the output, to show the following: Best Case, Worst Case, Average Case ... How would I go about plotting it on a graph? Here is the code: public class BubbleSort { static double bestTime = 10000000, worstTime = 0; public static void main(String[] args) { int BubArray[] = new int[]{13981, 6793, 2662, 10986, 733, ... #1000 integers}; System.out.println("Unsorted List Before Bubble Sort"); for(int a = 0; a < BubArray.length; a++){ System.out.print(BubArray[a] + " "); } System.out.println("\n Bubble Sort Execution ..."); for(int i=0; i<10000;i++) { bubbleSortTimeTaken(BubArray, i); } int itrs = bubbleSort(BubArray); System.out.println(""); System.out.println("Array After Bubble Sort"); System.out.println("Moves Taken for Sort : " + itrs + " Moves."); System.out.println("BestTime: " + bestTime + " WorstTime: " + worstTime); System.out.print("Sorted Array: \n"); for(int a = 0; a < BubArray.length; a++){ System.out.print(BubArray[a] + " "); } } private static int bubbleSort(int[] BubArray) { int z = BubArray.length; int temp = 0; int itrs = 0; for(int a = 0; a < z; a++){ for(int x=1; x < (z-a); x++){ if(BubArray[x-1] > BubArray[x]){ temp = BubArray[x-1]; BubArray[x-1] = BubArray[x]; BubArray[x] = temp; } itrs++; } } return itrs; } public static void bubbleSortTimeTaken(int[] BubArray, int n) { long startTime = System.nanoTime(); bubbleSort(BubArray); double timeTaken = (System.nanoTime() - startTime)/1000000d; if (timeTaken > 0) { worstTime = timeTaken; } else if (timeTaken < bestTime) { bestTime = timeTaken; } System.out.println(n + "," + timeTaken); } } The output are as the following ( execution number, time (nano/10^6): Unsorted List Before Bubble Sort 13981 6793 2662 .... #1000 integers Bubble Sort Execution ... 0, 18.319891 1, 4.728978 2, 3.670697 3, 3.648922 4, 4.161576 5, 3.824369 .... 9995, 4.331423 9996, 3.692473 9997, 3.709893 9998, 6.16055 9999, 4.32209 Array After Bubble Sort Moves Taken for Sort : 541320 Moves.   • Calculating negative fractions in Objective C

    - by Mark Reid
    I've been coding my way through Steve Kochan's Programming in Objective-C 2.0 book. I'm up to an exercise in chapter 7, ex 4, in case anyone has the book. The question posed by the exercise it will the Fraction class written work with negative fractions such as -1/2 + -2/3? Here's the implementation code in question - @implementation Fraction @synthesize numerator, denominator; -(void) print { NSLog(@"%i/%i", numerator, denominator); } -(void) setTo: (int) n over: (int) d { numerator = n; denominator = d; } -(double) convertToNum { if (denominator != 0) return (double) numerator / denominator; else return 1.0; } -(Fraction *) add: (Fraction *) f { // To add two fractions: // a/b + c/d = ((a * d) + (b * c)) / (b * d) // result will store the result of the addition Fraction *result = [[Fraction alloc] init]; int resultNum, resultDenom; resultNum = (numerator * f.denominator) + (denominator * f.numerator); resultDenom = denominator * f.denominator; [result setTo: resultNum over: resultDenom]; [result reduce]; return result; } -(Fraction *) subtract: (Fraction *) f { // To subtract two fractions: // a/b - c/d = ((a * d) - (b * c)) / (b * d) // result will store the result of the addition Fraction *result = [[Fraction alloc] init]; int resultNum, resultDenom; resultNum = numerator * f.denominator - denominator * f.numerator; resultDenom = denominator * f.denominator; [result setTo: resultNum over: resultDenom]; [result reduce]; return result; } -(Fraction *) multiply: (Fraction *) f { // To multiply two fractions // a/b * c/d = (a*c) / (b*d) // result will store the result of the addition Fraction *result = [[Fraction alloc] init]; int resultNum, resultDenom; resultNum = numerator * f.numerator; resultDenom = denominator * f.denominator; [result setTo: resultNum over: resultDenom]; [result reduce]; return result; } -(Fraction *) divide: (Fraction *) f { // To divide two fractions // a/b / c/d = (a*d) / (b*c) // result will store the result of the addition Fraction *result = [[Fraction alloc] init]; int resultNum, resultDenom; resultNum = numerator * f.denominator; resultDenom = denominator * f.numerator; [result setTo: resultNum over: resultDenom]; [result reduce]; return result; } -(void) reduce { int u = numerator; int v = denominator; int temp; while (v != 0) { temp = u % v; u = v; v = temp; } numerator /= u; denominator /= u; } @end My question to you is will it work with negative fractions and can you explain how you know? Part of the issue is I don't know how to calculate negative fractions myself so I'm not too sure how to know. Many thanks.

  • convert remote object result to array collection in flex...........

    - by user364199
    HI guys, im using zend_amf and flex. My problem is i have to populate my advance datagrid using array collection. this array collection have a children. example: [Bindable] private var dpHierarchy:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection([ {trucks:"Truck", children: [ {trucks:"AMC841", total_trip:1, start_time:'3:46:40 AM'}, {trucks:"AMC841", total_trip:1, start_time:'3:46:40 AM'}]) ]}; but the datasource of my datagrid should come from a database, how can i convert the result from remote object to array collection that has the same format like in my example, or any other way. here is my advance datagrid <mx:AdvancedDataGrid id="datagrid" width="500" height="200" lockedColumnCount="1" lockedRowCount="0" horizontalScrollPolicy="on" includeIn="loggedIn" x="67" y="131"> <mx:dataProvider> <mx:HierarchicalData id="dpHierarchytest" source="{dp}"/> </mx:dataProvider> <mx:groupedColumns> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="trucks" headerText="Trucks"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="total_trip" headerText="Total Trip"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumnGroup headerText="PRECOOLING"> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumnGroup headerText="Before Loading"> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="start_time" headerText="Start Time"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="end_time" headerText="End Time"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="precooling_time" headerText="Precooling Time"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="precooling_temp" headerText="Precooling Temp"/> </mx:AdvancedDataGridColumnGroup> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumnGroup headerText="Before Dispatch"> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="bd_start_time" headerText="Start Time"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="bd_end_time" headerText="End Time"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="bd_precooling_time" headerText="Precooling Time"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="bd_precooling_temp" headerText="Precooling Temp"/> </mx:AdvancedDataGridColumnGroup> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="remarks" headerText="Remarks"/> </mx:AdvancedDataGridColumnGroup> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumnGroup headerText="Temperature Compliance"> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="total_hit" headerText="Total Hit"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="total_miss" headerText="Total Miss"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="cold_chain_compliance" headerText="Cold Chain Compliance"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="average_temp" headerText="Average Temp"/> </mx:AdvancedDataGridColumnGroup> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumnGroup headerText="Productivity"> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="total_drop_points" headerText="Total Drop Points"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="total_delivery_time" headerText="Total Delivery Time"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="total_distance" headerText="Total Distance"/> </mx:AdvancedDataGridColumnGroup> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumnGroup headerText="Trip Exceptions"> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="total_doc" headerText="Total DOC"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="total_eng" headerText="Total ENG"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="total_fenv" headerText="Total FENV"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="average_speed" headerText="Average Speed"/> </mx:AdvancedDataGridColumnGroup> </mx:groupedColumns> </mx:AdvancedDataGrid> Thanks, and i really need some help.

  • How to implement dynamic binary search for search and insert operations of n element (C or C++)

    - by iecut
    The idea is to use multiple arrays, each of length 2^k, to store n elements, according to binary representation of n.Each array is sorted and different arrays are not ordered in any way. In the above mentioned data structure, SEARCH is carried out by a sequence of binary search on each array. INSERT is carried out by a sequence of merge of arrays of the same length until an empty array is reached. More Detail: Lets suppose we have a vertical array of length 2^k and to each node of that array there attached horizontal array of length 2^k. That is, to the first node of vertical array, a horizontal array of length 2^0=1 is connected,to the second node of vertical array, a horizontal array of length 2^1= 2 is connected and so on. So the insert is first carried out in the first horizontal array, for the second insert the first array becomes empty and second horizontal array is full with 2 elements, for the third insert 1st and 2nd array horiz. array are filled and so on. I implemented the normal binary search for search and insert as follows: int main() { int a[20]= {0}; int n, i, j, temp; int *beg, *end, *mid, target; printf(" enter the total integers you want to enter (make it less then 20):\n"); scanf("%d", &n); if (n = 20) return 0; printf(" enter the integer array elements:\n" ); for(i = 0; i < n; i++) { scanf("%d", &a[i]); } // sort the loaded array, binary search! for(i = 0; i < n-1; i++) { for(j = 0; j < n-i-1; j++) { if (a[j+1] < a[j]) { temp = a[j]; a[j] = a[j+1]; a[j+1] = temp; } } } printf(" the sorted numbers are:"); for(i = 0; i < n; i++) { printf("%d ", a[i]); } // point to beginning and end of the array beg = &a[0]; end = &a[n]; // use n = one element past the loaded array! // mid should point somewhere in the middle of these addresses mid = beg += n/2; printf("\n enter the number to be searched:"); scanf("%d",&target); // binary search, there is an AND in the middle of while()!!! while((beg <= end) && (*mid != target)) { // is the target in lower or upper half? if (target < *mid) { end = mid - 1; // new end n = n/2; mid = beg += n/2; // new middle } else { beg = mid + 1; // new beginning n = n/2; mid = beg += n/2; // new middle } } // find the target? if (*mid == target) { printf("\n %d found!", target); } else { printf("\n %d not found!", target); } getchar(); // trap enter getchar(); // wait return 0; } Could anyone please suggest how to modify this program or a new program to implement dynamic binary search that works as explained above!!

Does it have a solution or should I just choose to import from an excel sheet, thats better? Tried with if else and functions fun1 <- function() { print('You have selected option 1') my <- as.character((readline("enter the variable name \n"))) gg1 <- aggregate(cbind(get(my))~Mi+hours,a, FUN=mean) names(gg1)[3] <- my #print(names(gg1)) ggplot (gg1,aes_string(x="hours",y=(my),group="Mi",color="Mi")) + geom_point() } my <- as.integer(readline("enter a number")) ifelse(my == 1,fun1(),"") ifelse(my == 2,print ("its 2"),"") ifelse(my == 3,print ("its 3"),"") ifelse(my != (1 || 2|| 3) ,print("wrong number"),"") Not working either...:(

  • PHP and XPath Loop

    - by user1794852
    Thank you all in advance. I've got some great answers to my sometimes stupid questions, so thank you again. I'm trying to parse a SOAP response using PHP, Xpath (namespaces) and SimpleXML. Down below is a snippet of the Response. What I need to do is loop through each <ns1:file></ns1:file> and add it to a DB. But I'm not sure how to do that. Please help! Namespace Stuff $x = simplexml_load_string($response); $x->registerXPathNamespace('ns1', 'http://ws.icontent.idefense.com/V3/2'); Here's the response: <ns1:mal_files> <ns1:file> <ns1:id>2895144</ns1:id> <ns1:md5>2189c3d3857ba0cabd19c8aa031d63cd</ns1:md5> <ns1:sha1>c20b26148caa059ecf85e9b29df4e28e8354d655</ns1:sha1> <ns1:path>%WINDIR%\Temp\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\K9ANOPQB\1219831[1].htm</ns1:path> <ns1:size>110</ns1:size> <ns1:code_available>true</ns1:code_available> <ns1:len_char>fixed</ns1:len_char> </ns1:file> <ns1:file> <ns1:id>2895147</ns1:id> <ns1:md5>a533825ef1752630a300125b3eef6825</ns1:md5> <ns1:sha1>ec7feb1414b3c2e720f6c06e2750421b73634f87</ns1:sha1> <ns1:path>%WINDIR%\Temp\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\4PMB8T67\bg[1].jpg</ns1:path> <ns1:size>707</ns1:size> <ns1:code_available>true</ns1:code_available> <ns1:len_char>fixed</ns1:len_char> </ns1:file> <ns1:file> <ns1:id>2895155</ns1:id> <ns1:md5>c88724e985efcc82173c0d3aa0b77dfd</ns1:md5> <ns1:sha1>ecc042ca06aac988cd4593bb2b25fa39c4b2a819</ns1:sha1> <ns1:path>%WINDIR%\Prefetch\24604775.EXE-3ADEC0C2.pf</ns1:path> <ns1:size>44940</ns1:size> <ns1:code_available>true</ns1:code_available> <ns1:len_char>fixed</ns1:len_char> </ns1:file> <ns1:file> <ns1:id>2895158</ns1:id> <ns1:md5>422a011793af6195ea517c2c4a26bdbc</ns1:md5> <ns1:sha1>f449240c091c27e2531342d6b291d6a7e4655834</ns1:sha1> <ns1:path>%WINDIR%\Temp\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\KPYV0TM7\gamesleap[1].png</ns1:path> <ns1:size>2676</ns1:size> <ns1:code_available>true</ns1:code_available> <ns1:len_char>fixed</ns1:len_char> </ns1:file> </ns1:mal_files> PHP Code $md5 = $x->xpath('//ns1:mal_files/ns1:file/ns1:md5'); // Returns array :( The PHP code returns an Array of all MD5 for every <ns1:file></ns1:file> and that's not what I need. And obviously the PHP I'm using returns an array, which doesn't work here. Hopefully I've made my question clear... I appreciate any help. Thanks!

  • Binary operator overloading on a templated class (C++)

    - by GRB
    Hi all, I was recently trying to gauge my operator overloading/template abilities and as a small test, created the Container class below. While this code compiles fine and works correctly under MSVC 2008 (displays 11), both MinGW/GCC and Comeau choke on the operator+ overload. As I trust them more than MSVC, I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Here is the code: #include <iostream> using namespace std; template <typename T> class Container { friend Container<T> operator+ <> (Container<T>& lhs, Container<T>& rhs); public: void setobj(T ob); T getobj(); private: T obj; }; template <typename T> void Container<T>::setobj(T ob) { obj = ob; } template <typename T> T Container<T>::getobj() { return obj; } template <typename T> Container<T> operator+ <> (Container<T>& lhs, Container<T>& rhs) { Container<T> temp; temp.obj = lhs.obj + rhs.obj; return temp; } int main() { Container<int> a, b; a.setobj(5); b.setobj(6); Container<int> c = a + b; cout << c.getobj() << endl; return 0; } This is the error Comeau gives: Comeau C/C++ 4.3.10.1 (Oct 6 2008 11:28:09) for ONLINE_EVALUATION_BETA2 Copyright 1988-2008 Comeau Computing. All rights reserved. MODE:strict errors C++ C++0x_extensions "ComeauTest.c", line 27: error: an explicit template argument list is not allowed on this declaration Container<T> operator+ <> (Container<T>& lhs, Container<T>& rhs) ^ 1 error detected in the compilation of "ComeauTest.c". I'm having a hard time trying to get Comeau/MingGW to play ball, so that's where I turn to you guys. It's been a long time since my brain has melted this much under the weight of C++ syntax, so I feel a little embarrassed ;). Thanks in advance. EDIT: Eliminated an (irrelevant) lvalue error listed in initial Comeau dump.

  • How can I hit my database with an AJAX call using javascript?

    - by tmedge
    I am pretty new at this stuff, so bear with me. I am using ASP.NET MVC. I have created an overlay to cover the page when someone clicks a button corresponding to a certain database entry. Because of this, ALL of my code for this functionality is in a .js file contained within my project. What I need to do is pull the info corresponding to my entry from the database itself using an AJAX call, and place that into my textboxes. Then, after the end-user has made the desired changes, I need to update that entry's values to match the input. I've been surfing the web for a while, and have failed to find an example that fits my needs effectively. Here is my code in my javascript file thus far: function editOverlay(picId) { //pull up an overlay $('body').append('<div class="overlay" />'); var $overlayClass = $('.overlay'); $overlayClass.append('<div class="dataModal" />'); var $data = $('.dataModal'); overlaySetup($overlayClass, $data); //set up form $data.append('<h1>Edit Picture</h1><br /><br />'); $data.append('Picture name: &nbsp;'); $data.append('<input class="picName" /> <br /><br /><br />'); $data.append('Relative url: &nbsp;'); $data.append('<input class="picRelURL" /> <br /><br /><br />'); $data.append('Description: &nbsp;'); $data.append('<textarea class="picDescription" /> <br /><br /><br />'); var $nameBox = $('.picName'); var $urlBox = $('.picRelURL'); var $descBox = $('.picDescription'); var pic = null; //this is where I need to pull the actual object from the db //var imgList = for (var temp in imgList) { if (temp.Id == picId) { pic= temp; } } /* $nameBox.attr('value', pic.Name); $urlBox.attr('value', pic.RelativeURL); $descBox.attr('value', pic.Description); */ //close buttons $data.append('<input type="button" value="Save Changes" class="saveButton" />'); $data.append('<input type="button" value="Cancel" class="cancelButton" />'); $('.saveButton').click(function() { /* pic.Name = $nameBox.attr('value'); pic.RelativeURL = $urlBox.attr('value'); pic.Description = $descBox.attr('value'); */ //make a call to my Save() method in my repository CloseOverlay(); }); $('.cancelButton').click(function() { CloseOverlay(); }); } The stuff I have commented out is what I need to accomplish and/or is not available until prior issues are resolved. Any and all advice is appreciated! Remember, I am VERY new to this stuff (two weeks, to be exact) and will probably need highly explicit instructions. BTW: overlaySetup() and CloseOverlay() are functions I have living someplace else. Thanks!

  • C# performance varying due to memory

    - by user1107474
    Hope this is a valid post here, its a combination of C# issues and hardware. I am benchmarking our server because we have found problems with the performance of our quant library (written in C#). I have simulated the same performance issues with some simple C# code- performing very heavy memory-usage. The code below is in a function which is spawned from a threadpool, up to a maximum of 32 threads (because our server has 4x CPUs x 8 cores each). This is all on .Net 3.5 The problem is that we are getting wildly differing performance. I run the below function 1000 times. The average time taken for the code to run could be, say, 3.5s, but the fastest will only be 1.2s and the slowest will be 7s- for the exact same function! I have graphed the memory usage against the timings and there doesnt appear to be any correlation with the GC kicking in. One thing I did notice is that when running in a single thread the timings are identical and there is no wild deviation. I have also tested CPU-bound algorithms and the timings are identical too. This has made us wonder if the memory bus just cannot cope. I was wondering could this be another .net or C# problem, or is it something related to our hardware? Would this be the same experience if I had used C++, or Java?? We are using 4x Intel x7550 with 32GB ram. Is there any way around this problem in general? Stopwatch watch = new Stopwatch(); watch.Start(); List<byte> list1 = new List<byte>(); List<byte> list2 = new List<byte>(); List<byte> list3 = new List<byte>(); int Size1 = 10000000; int Size2 = 2 * Size1; int Size3 = Size1; for (int i = 0; i < Size1; i++) { list1.Add(57); } for (int i = 0; i < Size2; i = i + 2) { list2.Add(56); } for (int i = 0; i < Size3; i++) { byte temp = list1.ElementAt(i); byte temp2 = list2.ElementAt(i); list3.Add(temp); list2[i] = temp; list1[i] = temp2; } watch.Stop(); (the code is just meant to stress out the memory) I would include the threadpool code, but we used a non-standard threadpool library. EDIT: I have reduced "size1" to 100000, which basically doesn't use much memory and I still get a lot of jitter. This suggests it's not the amount of memory being transferred, but the frequency of memory grabs?

  • linked list problem (with insert)

    - by JohnWong
    The problem appears with the insert function that I wrote. 3 conditions must work, I tested b/w 1 and 2, b/w 2 and 3 and as last element, they worked. But b/w 3 and 4, it did not work. It only display up to the new added record, and did not show the fourth element. Efficiency is not my concern here (not yet). Please guide me through this debug process. Thank you very much. #include<iostream> #include<string> using namespace std; struct List // we create a structure called List { string name; string tele; List *nextAddr; }; void populate(List *); void display(List *); void insert(List *); int main() { const int MAXINPUT = 3; char ans; List * data, * current, * point; // create two pointers data = new List; current = data; for (int i = 0; i < (MAXINPUT - 1); i++) { populate(current); current->nextAddr = new List; current = current->nextAddr; } // last record we want to do it sepeartely populate(current); current->nextAddr = NULL; cout << "The current list consists of the following data records: " << endl; display(data); // now ask whether user wants to insert new record or not cout << "Do you want to add a new record (Y/N)?"; cin >> ans; if (ans == 'Y' || ans == 'y') { /* To insert b/w first and second, use point as parameter between second and third uses point->nextAddr between third and fourth uses point->nextAddr->nextAddr and insert as last element, uses current instead */ point = data; insert(()); display(data); } return 0; } void populate(List *data) { cout << "Enter a name: "; cin >> data->name; cout << "Enter a phone number: "; cin >> data->tele; return; } void display(List *content) { while (content != NULL) { cout << content->name << " " << content->tele; content = content->nextAddr; cout << endl; // we skip to next line } return; } void insert(List *last) { List * temp = last->nextAddr; //save the next address to temp last->nextAddr = new List; // now modify the address pointed to new allocation last = last->nextAddr; populate(last); last->nextAddr = temp; // now link all three together, eg 1-NEW-2 return; }

  • iPad Split View Controller - Master View and Detial View contain TableViews

    - by vman9999
    Hi, I've managed to read some values into a table view and display them in the Master View of a SplitViewController. What I would like to do is to tap on a row of the Master View and display the details on the detailViewController but in a TableView. When I tap on the row in the MasterView table, I can't seem to get the detail to populate the detailview TableView. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

  • How to Export data to Excel using LINQ to Entity?

    Hi I have the data coming from Entity Data model table on my ASP.NET page. Now I have to export this data into Excel on button click. If it is using OLEDB, it is straight forward as it is here: http://csharp.net-informations.com/excel/csharp-excel-oledb-insert.htm Here is my function to read data from inquiries table: var model = from i in myEntity.Inquiries where i.User_Id == 5 orderby i.TX_Id descending select new { RequestID = i.TX_Id, CustomerName = i.CustomerMaster.FirstName, RequestDate = i.RequestDate, Email = i.CustomerMaster.MS_Id, DocDescription = i.Document.Description, ProductName = i.Product.Name

  • Memory leak involving jQuery Ajax requests

    - by Eli Courtwright
    I have a webpage that's leaking memory in both IE8 and Firefox; the memory usage displayed in the Windows Process Explorer just keeps growing over time. The following page requests the "unplanned.json" url, which is a static file that never changes (though I do set my Cache-control HTTP header to no-cache to make sure that the Ajax request always goes through). When it gets the results, it clears out an HTML table, loops over the json array it got back from the server, and dynamically adds a row to an HTML table for each entry in the array. Then it waits 2 seconds and repeats this process. Here's the entire webpage: <html> <head> <title>Test Page</title> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3/jquery.min.js"></script> </head> <body> <script type="text/javascript"> function kickoff() { $.getJSON("unplanned.json", resetTable); } function resetTable(rows) { $("#content tbody").empty(); for(var i=0; i<rows.length; i++) { $("<tr>" + "<td>" + rows[i].mpe_name + "</td>" + "<td>" + rows[i].bin + "</td>" + "<td>" + rows[i].request_time + "</td>" + "<td>" + rows[i].filtered_delta + "</td>" + "<td>" + rows[i].failed_delta + "</td>" + "</tr>").appendTo("#content tbody"); } setTimeout(kickoff, 2000); } $(kickoff); </script> <table id="content" border="1" style="width:100% ; text-align:center"> <thead><tr> <th>MPE</th> <th>Bin</th> <th>When</th> <th>Filtered</th> <th>Failed</th> </tr></thead> <tbody></tbody> </table> </body> </html> If it helps, here's an example of the json I'm sending back (it's this exact array wuith thousands of entries instead of just one): [ { mpe_name: "DBOSS-995", request_time: "09/18/2009 11:51:06", bin: 4, filtered_delta: 1, failed_delta: 1 } ] EDIT: I've accepted Toran's extremely helpful answer, but I feel I should post some additional code, since his removefromdom jQuery plugin has some limitations: It only removes individual elements. So you can't give it a query like `$("#content tbody tr")` and expect it to remove all of the elements you've specified. Any element that you remove with it must have an `id` attribute. So if I want to remove my `tbody`, then I must assign an `id` to my `tbody` tag or else it will give an error. It removes the element itself and all of its descendants, so if you simply want to empty that element then you'll have to re-create it afterwards (or modify the plugin to empty instead of remove). So here's my page above modified to use Toran's plugin. For the sake of simplicity I didn't apply any of the general performance advice offered by Peter. Here's the page which now no longer memory leaks: <html> <head> <title>Test Page</title> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3/jquery.min.js"></script> </head> <body> <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- $.fn.removefromdom = function(s) { if (!this) return; var el = document.getElementById(this.attr("id")); if (!el) return; var bin = document.getElementById("IELeakGarbageBin"); //before deleting el, recursively delete all of its children. while (el.childNodes.length > 0) { if (!bin) { bin = document.createElement("DIV"); bin.id = "IELeakGarbageBin"; document.body.appendChild(bin); } bin.appendChild(el.childNodes[el.childNodes.length - 1]); bin.innerHTML = ""; } el.parentNode.removeChild(el); if (!bin) { bin = document.createElement("DIV"); bin.id = "IELeakGarbageBin"; document.body.appendChild(bin); } bin.appendChild(el); bin.innerHTML = ""; }; var resets = 0; function kickoff() { $.getJSON("unplanned.json", resetTable); } function resetTable(rows) { $("#content tbody").removefromdom(); $("#content").append('<tbody id="id_field_required"></tbody>'); for(var i=0; i<rows.length; i++) { $("#content tbody").append("<tr><td>" + rows[i].mpe_name + "</td>" + "<td>" + rows[i].bin + "</td>" + "<td>" + rows[i].request_time + "</td>" + "<td>" + rows[i].filtered_delta + "</td>" + "<td>" + rows[i].failed_delta + "</td></tr>"); } resets++; $("#message").html("Content set this many times: " + resets); setTimeout(kickoff, 2000); } $(kickoff); // --> </script> <div id="message" style="color:red"></div> <table id="content" border="1" style="width:100% ; text-align:center"> <thead><tr> <th>MPE</th> <th>Bin</th> <th>When</th> <th>Filtered</th> <th>Failed</th> </tr></thead> <tbody id="id_field_required"></tbody> </table> </body> </html> FURTHER EDIT: I'll leave my question unchanged, though it's worth noting that this memory leak has nothing to do with Ajax. In fact, the following code would memory leak just the same and be just as easily solved with Toran's removefromdom jQuery plugin: function resetTable() { $("#content tbody").empty(); for(var i=0; i<1000; i++) { $("#content tbody").append("<tr><td>" + "DBOSS-095" + "</td>" + "<td>" + 4 + "</td>" + "<td>" + "09/18/2009 11:51:06" + "</td>" + "<td>" + 1 + "</td>" + "<td>" + 1 + "</td></tr>"); } setTimeout(resetTable, 2000); } $(resetTable);

  • Using DisplayTag library, I want to have the currently selected row have a unique custom class using

    - by Mary
    I have been trying to figure out how to highlight the selected row in a table. In my jsp I have jsp scriplet that can get access to the id of the row the displaytag library is creating. I want to compare it to the the id of the current row selected by the user ${currentNoteId}. Right now if the row id = 849 (hardcoded) the class "currentClass" is added to just that row of the table. I need to change the 849 for the {$currentNoteId} and I don't know how to do it. I am using java, Spring MVC. The jsp: ... <% request.setAttribute("dyndecorator", new org.displaytag.decorator.TableDecorator() { public String addRowClass() { edu.ilstu.ais.advisorApps.business.Note row = (edu.ilstu.ais.advisorApps.business.Note)getCurrentRowObject(); String rowId = row.getId(); if ( rowId.equals("849") ) { return "currentClass"; } return null; } }); %> <c:set var="currentNoteId" value="${studentNotes.currentNote.id}"/> ... <display:table id="noteTable" name="${ studentNotes.studentList }" pagesize="20" requestURI="notesView.form.html" decorator="dyndecorator"> <display:column title="Select" class="yui-button-match" href="/notesView.form.html" paramId="note.id" paramProperty="id"> <input type="button" class="yui-button-match2" name="select" value="Select"/> </display:column> <display:column property="userName" title="Created By" sortable="true"/> <display:column property="createDate" title="Created On" sortable="true" format="{0,date,MM/dd/yy hh:mm:ss a}"/> <display:column property="detail" title="Detail" sortable="true"/> </display:table> ... This could also get done using javascript and that might be best, but the documentation suggested this so I thought I would try it. I cannot find an example anywhere using the addRowClass() unless the comparison is to a field already in the row (a dollar amount is used in the documentation example) or hardcoded in like the "849" id. Thanks for any help you can provide.
