    Can anyone suggest a good implementation of a generic collection class that implements the IBindingListView & IBindingList interfaces and provides Filtering and Searching capabilities? I see my current options as: Using a class that someone else has written and tested Inheriting from BindingList, and implementing the IBindingListView interfaces Write a custom collection from scratch, implementing IBindingListView and IBindingList. Obviously, the first option is my preferred choice. Thanking you.

  • Problem with Landscape and Portrait view in a TabBar Application

    I have an TabBar app that I would like to be in landscape and portrait. The issue is when I go to tab 2 make a selection from my table then select tab 1 and rotate the device, then select tab 2 again the content does not know that the device rotated and will not display my custom orientated content correctly. I am trying to write a priovate method that tells the view what orientation it is currently in. IN viewDidLoad I am assuming it is in portrait but in shouldAutoRotate I have it looking in the private method for the correct alignment of the content. Please Help!!   • how to time out an ant task

    Without writing a custom ant task is there a way to use a timeout on a regular ant target? To give some background info ... we are using the delete task to remove all contents of a given directory. Sometimes this directory is massive with lots of generated folders and files. We wanted to have that task say timeout after 5 minutes. I could not find anything online anywhere ... any ideas?

  • Composite Views and View Controllers

    Hi, I'm somewhat new to Android and am in the process of designing an application with a couple fairly complex views. One of the views is intended to involve a complex view displaying information associated with model objects and segregated into several different views; the navigation of which is meant to be achieved using sliding effects (i.e. sliding one's finger across the screen to traverse from one screen to the next, etc). The view itself will be used to host multiple sets of views for varying types of model objects, but with a general structure that is reused between them all. As a rough example, the view might come up to display information about a person (the model object), displaying several details views: a view for general information, a view displaying a list of hobbies, and a view displaying a list of other individuals associated with their social network. The same general view, when given a model object representing a particular car would give several different views: A general view with details, A view containing photo images for that vehicle, a view representing locations which it could be purchased from, and a view providing a list of related cars. (NOTE: This is not the real data involved, but is representative of the general intent for the view). The subviews will NOT cover the entire screen real-estate and other features within the view should be both visible and able to be interacted with by the user. The idea here is that there is a general view structure that is reusable and which will manage a set of subviews dynamically generated based upon the type of model object handed to the view. I'm trying to determine the appropriate way to leverage the Android framework in order to best achieve this without violating the integrity of the framework. Basically, I'm trying to determine how to componentize this larger view into reusable units (i.e. general view, model-specific sub-view controllers, and individual detail views). To be more specific, I'm trying to determine if this view is best designed as a composite of several custom View classes or a composite of several Activity classes. I've seen several examples of custom composite views, but they typically are used to compose simple views without complex controllers and without attention to the general Activity lifecycle (i.e. storing and retrieving data related to the model objects, as appropriate). On the other hand, the only real example I've seen regarding a view comprised of a composite of Activities is the TabActivity itself, and that isn't customizable in the fashion that would be necessary for this. Does anyone have any suggestions as to the appropriate way to structure my view to achieve the application framework I'm looking for? Views? Activities? Something else? Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    If i have DataGrid which looks like: Col 1 Col 2 ------- ------- 1 a 2 b 3 c ... ... n n Can the order be reversed easily without sorting? So that n is first, and 1 is last. I have custom sort implemented from this article, but sorting the same column twice in a row calls sorting function twice (which is slow), so just reversing the order should be faster and have the same effect.

  • Difficulty adding widgets to django form.

    I have a django app that tracks activities that can benefit a classroom. Using the django examples, I was able to build a form to enter this data. But when I try to add widgets to that form, things get tricky. What I want is a calendar widget that lets the user enter the 'activity_date' field using a widget. If I use Admin interface. The AdminDateWidget works fine. however. This particular user isn't allowed access to the admin interface so I need a different way to present this widget. Also I couldn't figure out how to make the bring the admin widget over into non-admin pages. So I tried a custom widget. This is the first custom widget I've built, so I'm not quite sure what is supposed to be going on here. Any Expert Advice?     I'm creating a PHP CMS, one that I hope will be used by the public. Security is a major concern and I'd like to learn from some of the popular PHP CMS's like Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal, etc. What are some security flaws or vulnerabilities that they have they had in the past that I can avoid in my application and what strategies can I use to avoid them? What are other issues that I need to be concerned with that they perhaps didn't face as a vulnerability because they handled it correctly from the start? What additional security features or measures would you include? Please be as specific as possible. I'm generally aware of most of the usual attack vectors, but I want to make sure that all the bases are covered, so don't be afraid to mention the obvious as well. Assume PHP 5.2+.

  • Flex / ZendAMF / PHP app, corrupted data with some linux clients problem

    Hello, i'm buiding a survey web application, using Flex for the front-end (nice forms), and a MySQL database for the storage, linked by PHP with the help of ZendAMF. I largely borrowed from this nice tutorial by Alan Gruskoff : http://digitalshowcase.biz/wordpress/?page_id=26 (The only one tutorial i've found to work with the last version of Flex). The app seems to works nicely in my tests, except on certain linux boxes : the data is somehow corrupted : there is no error message, no glitch, but the response of the forms are not what the user selected. I tried to reproduce the error on a fresh installed ubuntu VM, but it works fine. I've asked friends for some tests, and several linux users showed the same problem, on ubuntu and suse machines, all freshly updated and functionnal. The application was targeted to be the survey tool for my doctoral thesis, so i'm quite desperate here, and before i'm dumping it to start anew with php only, i'm asking here in case someone can help, thanks :-) Please excuse my english, by the way.   • Linq to Sql get SqlCommand when stored procedure execution fails

    Hi all, currently I'm assigning a TextWriter to the Log property of my Linq to Sql data context (per request instancing) and write this to my logging when an exception is thrown while executing a stored procedure (is strongly typed mapped in the context, so not executing a custom command) however when using ADO.NET we normally inspect the SqlCommand upon unhandled exception to read out the parameters and log them is it possible to access the SqlCommand that was used for executing a Stored Procedure in L2S so we can reuse that existing logging component? This would be far nicer than the current Log TextWriter solution.... greetings, Tim

  • Continuous Deployment with a C#/ASP.NET website?

    I have a website in C#/ASP.NET that is currently in development. When we are in production, I would like to do releases frequently over the course of the day, as we fix bugs and add features (like this: http://toni.org/2010/05/19/in-praise-of-continuous-deployment-the-wordpress-com-story/). If you upload a new version of the site or even change a single file, it kicks out the users that are currently logged in and makes them start over any forms and such. Is there a secret to being able to do deployments without interfering with users for .NET sites?

I wonder, how to implement unique-field validation using custom data-annotation ? For example, I have a view model that need the user to register a new login name, is there way to check (using Model.IsValid) whether the name is not existed before calling the db submit?
