  I have a really tricky thing going up here. My project has around 100 tables and they are all mapped by LINQ. Everything works fine in a dev and test environment. These enviroments are MS Win 2008 r2 servers with SQL 2008 sp1 databases. IIS and SQL are on a different machines. Now on production enviroment which is MS Win 2003 x64 web farm + geoclustered SQL 2008 IT DOES not work. All I get is the exception System.IndexOutOfRangeException: Index was outside the bounds of the array. at System.Data.Linq.IdentityManager.StandardIdentityManager.MultiKeyManager3.TryCreateKeyFr>om Values(Object[] values, MultiKey& k) at System.Data.Linq.IdentityManager.StandardIdentityManager.IdentityCache2.Find(Object[] keyValues) at System.Data.Linq.ChangeProcessor.GetOtherItem(MetaAssociation assoc, Object instance) at System.Data.Linq.ChangeProcessor.BuildEdgeMaps() at System.Data.Linq.ChangeProcessor.SubmitChanges(ConflictMode failureMode) at System.Data.Linq.DataContext.SubmitChanges(ConflictMode failureMode) at ERS.IIMP.Services.ExposuresSrv.Update(Int32 ExpID, Int32 AssID) Services\ExposuresSrv.cs` My question is What the hell. They have precisely the same DBML, the DB has exactly THE SAME structure (when I get the DB from prod to TEST and mount it eveything works just great), the binaries on the WEB Server are the same. I seriously do not know what to do.... Did anyone found that Linq works on one env and does not on the second?? I mam really lost here. I really hope You can help me:)

  I have an application that calls a function to send JSON object to a REST API, my problem is how can I handle time delays and repeat this function till i have a response from the server in case of interrupted network connexion ?? • Why are my attempts to open a file using open for writing failing? Ada 95

  When I attempt to open a file to write to I get an Ada.IO_Exceptions.Name_Error. The procedure call is Ada.Text_IO.Open The file name is "C:\CC_TEST_LOG.TXT". This file does not exist. This is on Windows XP on an NTFS partition. The user has permissions to create and write to the directory. • Write binary data as a response in an ASP.NET MVC web control

  I am trying to get a control that I wrote for ASP.NET to work in an ASP.NET MVC environment. Normally, the control does the normal thing, and that works fine Sometimes it needs to respond by clearing the response, writing an image to the response stream and changing the content type. When you do this, you get an exception "OutputStream is not available when a custom TextWriter is used". If I were a page or controller, I see how I can create custom responses with binary data, but I can't see how to do this from inside a control's render functions. To simplify it -- imagine I want to make a web control that renders to: <img src="pageThatControlIsOn?controlImage"> And I know how to look at incoming requests and recognize query strings that should be routed to the control. Now the control is supposed to respond with a generated image (content-type: image/png -- and the encoded image). In ASP.NET, we: Response.Clear(); Response.OutputStream.Write(thePngData); // this throws in MVC // set the content type, etc Response.End(); How am I supposed to do that in an ASP.NET MVC control?

• What type of things can cause sgen msbuild task to fail intermittantly with Access Violation?

  In our MSBuild file for our project we sgen an assembly containing classes used during xml serialization. The classes are generated via xsd.exe. We use the following SGen task configuration. <SGen ToolPath="$(SdkPath)" ShouldGenerateSerializer="true" UseProxyTypes="false" BuildAssemblyName="AssemblyName.dll" BuildAssemblyPath="Outputs" ContinueOnError="false" /> Intermittantly the following error is thrown when executing the msbuild script on our build server. Originally this error might have occurred once out of every 50 (CI) builds, recently the frequency has been increasing and it now occurs maybe 5-6 out of every 10 builds. The size of the assembly that is being Sgenned is about 410k (circa 35,000 lines of generated code), and when successfull the serialization assembly is about 1.7M in size. When it fails, the output is as follows: Unhandled Exception: System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. E:\Path_ToBuild_Workspace\SolutionBuild.MSBuild(74,5): error MSB6006: "sgen.exe" exited with code -1073741819. We are using Hudson to manage our builds, so the msbuild and sgen processes are therefore spwaned by the Hudson.exe. There's not much out there on the interwebs regarding this type of error from SGen. Certainly nothing concrete.

  While I playing with the C# 4.0 dynamic, I found strange things happening with the code like this: using System.Dynamic; sealed class Foo : DynamicObject { public override bool TryInvoke( InvokeBinder binder, object[] args, out object result) { result = new object(); return true; } static void Main() { dynamic foo = new Foo(); var t1 = foo(0); var t2 = foo(0); var t3 = foo(0); var t4 = foo(0); var t5 = foo(0); } } Ok, it works but... take a look at IntelliTrace window: So every invokation (and other operations too on dynamic object) causes throwing and catching strange exceptions twice! I understand, that sometimes exceptions mechanism may be used for optimizations, for example first call to dynamic may be performed to some stub delegate, that simply throws exception - this may be like a signal to dynamic binder to resolve an correct member and re-point delegate. Next call to the same delegate will be performed without any checks. But... behavior of the code above looks very strange. Maybe throwing and catching exceptions twice per any operation on DynamicObject - is a bug?

• Bitrate Switching in xml playlist not loading video

  Using JW Player ver 5.4 and JW Embedder. Plugins are grid by Dabbler and fbit (Facebook). The Bitrate switching is not working. Does work fine for one video with HTML5 Video tag. When more than one video, it only shows the first video pic. Works fine with no bitrate switching. • Red5 Unable to Start Distribution.

  I have installed subclipse, Ant, IvyDE, Red5 Plugin for eclipse, All of the Environmental variables are set and the necessary elements have been added to the path. I am attempting to create a Red5 Distribution by using eclipse, opening Build.xml right clicking dist [default] in the outline window and running as and selecting Ant Builder. Eclipse says that the build is Successful. I first stop the Red5 Service, and then I attempt to run the build I create in eclipse it fails, below are the errors that display in the command prompt.   Hi all, On my activity, im getting some big data from web, and while getting this data i want to show the user a ProgressDialog with spinning wheel. That i can do only with putting this code into a thread, right ? the problem is that after im getting this data i need to insert it into my tableLayout as TableRows and it seems impossible to access the TableLayout from the thread. What can i do to show this progress dialog and to be able access the table layout from the thread ?? Is there any event that happens on the end of the thread ?   I have a many-to-many relationship between two tables, let's say Friends and Foods. If a friend likes a food I stick a row into the FriendsFoods table, like this: ID Friend Food 1 'Tom' 'Pizza' FriendsFoods has a Primary Key 'ID', and two non-null foreign keys 'Friend' and 'Food' to the 'Friends' and 'Foods' tables, respectively. Now suppose I have a Friend tom .NET object corresponding to 'Tom', and Tom no longer likes pizza (what is wrong with him?) FriendsFoods ff = tblFriendsFoods.Where(x => x.Friend.Name == 'Tom' && x.Food.Name == 'Pizza').Single(); tom.FriendsFoods.Remove(ff); pizza.FriendsFoods.Remove(ff); If I try to SubmitChanges() on the DataContext, I get an exception because it attempts to insert a null into the Friend and Food columns in the FriendsFoods table. I'm sure I can put together some kind of convoluted logic to track changes to the FriendsFoods table, intercept SubmitChanges() calls, etc to try and get this to work the way I want, but is there a nice, clean way to remove a Many-To-Many relationship with LINQ-To-SQL?

• Use a resource dictionary as theme in Silverlight

  Hello, I have developed an application which allows the user to switch between themes. I'm doing this by including the xaml file as a resource in my project and using the following code: MainTheme.ThemeUri = new Uri("SilverlightApplication1;component/Themes/[ThemeName]/Theme.xaml", UriKind.Relative); This worked well, untill I found these themes: http://timheuer.com/blog/archive/2010/05/17/silverlight-4-tools-released-and-new-application-templates.aspx The difference is that these themes consist of multiple files. So I made a Theme.xaml file that only includes MergedDictionaries so I could still use the code above. This is the Theme.xaml file for the Cosmopolitan theme. <ResourceDictionary xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"> <ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> <ResourceDictionary Source="CoreStyles.xaml"/> <ResourceDictionary Source="SDKStyles.xaml"/> <ResourceDictionary Source="Styles.xaml"/> <ResourceDictionary Source="ToolkitStyles.xaml"/> </ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> </ResourceDictionary> However, when I run the c# code above I get the following exception: System.Windows.Markup.XamlParseException: Failed to assign to property 'System.Windows.ResourceDictionary.Source'.   I installed Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 in an XP Mode VM on Windows 7. Then I created a trivial Silverlight 4 (beta) project and tried to build it. I get the following error: Error 1 The "ValidateXaml" task failed unexpectedly. System.IO.FileLoadException: Could not load file or assembly 'file://\tsclient\d\Users\me\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects\SilverlightApplication2\SilverlightApplication2\obj\Debug\SilverlightApplication2.dll' or one of its dependencies. Operation is not supported.   I cannot for the life of me figure out why I'm getting a NullPointerException. • How to handle missing files on MVC

  What is your preferred way to handle hits to files that does not exist on your MVC app. I have couple of web apps runing with MVC and they are constantly getting hits for files folders etc. that does not exist in the app structure. Apps are throwing exception: The controller for path could not be found or it does not implement IController I am trying to find out the best way to handle this. I have 3 global routes on my global.asax file (see below) and at this point I am happy with that simple definition.   I have a WCF service which can run as Console App and a Windows Service. See the inner FaultException for the fault code and detail." • h2 (embedded mode ) database files problem

  There is a h2-database file in my src directory (Java, Eclipse): h2test.db The problem: starting the h2.jar from the command line (and thus the h2 browser interface on port 8082), I have created 2 tables, 'test1' and 'test2' in h2test.db and I have put some data in them; when trying to access them from java code (JDBC), it throws me "table not found exception". A "show tables" from the java code shows a resultset with 0 rows. Also, when creating a new table ('newtest') from the java code (CREATE TABLE ... etc), I cannot see it when starting the h2.jar browser interface afterwards; just the other two tables ('test1' and 'test2') are shown (but then the newly created table 'newtest' is accessible from the java code). I'm inexperienced with embedded databases; I believe I'm doing something fundamentally wrong here. My assumption is, that I'm accessing the same file - once from the java app, and once from the h2 console-browser interface. I cannot seem to understand it, what am I doing wrong here?

• WCF Callback Faulted - what happens to the session?

  Just trying to get my head around what can happen when things go wrong with WCF. I have an implementation of my service contract declared with an InstanceContextMode of PerSession... [ServiceBehavior(InstanceContextMode = InstanceContextMode.PerSession, ConcurrencyMode = ConcurrencyMode.Multiple)] The calls happen as follows: My client calls the server and calls GetServerUTC() to return the current UTC time of the server. This is a one way call and the server will call the client back when its ready (trivial in this instance to simply return the current time!) The server calls back to the client and for test purposes in the callback implementation on the client I throw an exception. This goes unhandled in the client (for test purposes) and the client crashes and closes down. On the server I handle the faulted event handler on the ICommunicationObject... obj.Faulted += new EventHandler(EventService_Faulted); Questions... Will this kill off the session for the current connection on the server. I presume I am free to do what I want in this method e.g. logging or something, but should I do anything specific here to terminate the session or will WCF handle this? From a best practise view point what should I do when the callback is faulted? Does it mean "something has happened in your client" and thats the end of that or is there something I a missing here? Additionally, are there any other faulted handlers I should be handling. Ive done a lot of reading on WCF and it seems sort of vague on what to do when something goes wrong. At present I am implementing a State Machine on my client which will manage the connection and determine if a user action can happen dependant on if a connection exists to the server - or is this overkill. Any tips would be really appreciated ;)

• [ASP.NET] Difficulties using custom control - RichTextEditor

  I am working on a school project that uses ASP.NET. I found this TextEditor control ( http://blogs.msdn.com/kirti/archive/2007/11/10/rich-text-editor-is-here.aspx ) that I am trying to include but it isn't working. The error I am getting is: Error Rendering Control - TextEditor. An unhandled exception has occurred. Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. Parameter name: index. I see this error when I go Design part of the editor. I just don't understand this error at all. Also I am a lil bit confused as there is no parameter called index. :( What I have done is reference the binary in my project and then on the page I am trying to use it have registered its namespace and assembly with this line: <%@ Register Assembly="RichTextEditor" Namespace="AjaxControls" TagPrefix="rtt" %> I then go ahead and try to add the control to the page with this line of code: <rtt:richtexteditor ID="TextEditor" Theme="Blue" runat="server" /> Any help would be much appreciated. I haven't done anything like add a custom control before.
