  Hi All, I am trying to calculate difference(in seconds) between two date/times formatted as following: 2010-05-11 17:07:33 UTC 2010-05-11 17:07:33 EDT time1 = '2010-05-11 17:07:33 UTC' time2 = '2010-05-11 17:07:33 EDT' delta = time.mktime(time.strptime(time1,"%Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S %Z"))-\ time.mktime(time.strptime(time2, "%Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S %Z")) The problem I got is EDT is not recognized, the specific error is "ValueError: time data '2010-05-11 17:07:33 EDT' does not match format '%Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S %Z'" Thanks,

  Hi all. I'm using ubuntu linux, and I use bash from with a terminal emulator every day for many tasks. I would like to know how to find a string or a substring within a file that is within a particular directory. If I was knew the file which contained my target substring, I would just cat the file and pipe it through grep, thus: cat file | grep mysubstring But in this case, the pesky substring could be anywhere within a known directory. How do I hunt down my substring ?

  Can someone explain to me why when I perform a LIKE select in SQL (T-SQL) on a varchar column I can do the following: SELECT * FROM Table WHERE Name LIKE 'Th%' to get names beginning with Th, but when I do the same on a datetime column I need a % before the year, like: SELECT * FROM Table WHERE Date LIKE '%2013%' to get dates in 2013. The datetimes are stored in yyyy-MM-dd hh:mm:ss format. I know I could use a DATEPART style query but I was just interested in why I need the extra % here.

  I am attempting to make a program in C which presents a GUI and allows the user to select from a list of applications, which to install on the computer. I can manage the gui, but I've never been taught how to actually issue command line commands. I know with bash its just apt-get install firefox for example, but how do I do such a thing with C? i.e. on click, the program runs 'apt-get install The other problem is I'm not familiar with the proper name for this interaction, so it is hard to search. I could do this with a UNION (first select would locate the record I want, and the other select would display all other records), but I'm wondering if is there perhaps a better way?
