  • Display weekday in textbox or label using date from textbox

    - by Niels Schultz
    I have a textbox with calendar extender and a label <label for="<%= tbxFrom.ClientID %>"> From</label> <asp:Label ID="lblWeekDayFrom" runat="server"></asp:Label> <asp:TextBox ID="tbxFrom" runat="server" CssClass="Calendar"></asp:TextBox> <cc1:CalendarExtender ID="extTbxFrom" runat="server" TargetControlID="tbxStartTag"> </cc1:CalendarExtender> and now I would like to show the weekday of the currently selected date, either using a formatting inside the textbox like Th 05/20/2010 or showing the weekday as string using the label on the left side of the texbox (lblWeekDayFrom). There is a calendarExtender to select the date, but I would also like to be able to have the users enter the date manually. I tried to use JQuery to capture changes, but the label is not showing anything, and it triggers the RequiredFieldValidator on every initial page load. $(document).ready(function() { $('#<%= tbxFrom.ClientID %>').change(updateDate($('#<%= tbxFrom.ClientID %>').val())) } ); function updateDate(date) { $('#<%= lblWeekDayFrom.ClientID %>').val(date); }

  • SIP and Java, where to start and with what?

    - by Senne
I want to implement the SIP protocol in java and would want to be able to create different clients (5 or more) and make them connect to a proxy server. This is all for testing purposes so I would like to be able to see well what's happening on a rather low level. The clients should first be able to communicate trough text and later on maybe also by audio. (If I ever get that far) I already read a bit about the JAIN libraries and what I understood from that is that they are not really well suited for the server side? I also didn't really find any proxy server examples, tutorials, using JAIN. I also found this SIP Servlet Tutorial book, I used HTTP servlets in the past but should I prefer servlets or JAIN or ...? I'm quite new to SIP so I don't really know where to start or what to choose in combination with java.

  • How do I learn Java EE? Where to start?

    - by bloodagar
I'm going to be honest with you guys. I want to learn Java EE (and its related technologies) because it offers a lot of job opportunities here (the Philippines) and abroad. The problem is I don't know where to start and what to read or where to learn from. I'm almost finished reading Head First Java and I'm liking the language so far. Any tips that would increase my chances of finding a job would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  • What is your development checklist for Java low-latency application?

    - by user49767
I would like to create comprehensive checklist for Java low latency application. Can you add your checklist here? Here is my list 1. Make your objects immutable 2. Try to reduce synchronized method 3. Locking order should be well documented, and handled carefully 4. Use profiler 5. Use Amdhal's law, and find the sequential execution path 6. Use Java 5 concurrency utilities, and locks 7. Avoid Thread priorities as they are platform dependent 8. JVM warmup can be used As per my definition, low-latency application is tuned for every Milli-seconds.

  • Integer Linear Programming Java: Multiple Open Source and Commercial tools are available. Which one

    - by Sandeep Jindal
Hi, I need to use Integer Linear Programming API/Tool for my application. Though my application is in Java but I don’t mind calling an EXE (Tool) from Java providing input using file (MPS, etc). My search analysis is as follows: There are multiple Open Source and Commercial tools available to solve ILP Following I found and think are useful for my needs. 1. Gnu LP Kit(GLPK): I think this is the oldest and probably most stable and efficient 2. IP_Solve: Has good reviews about it. 3. JavaILP: Found this, but not much reviews about it 4. Apache Common-Math: Supports LP but not ILP, so ruled out. 5. Coin-OR Can you please suggest which one shall be the best in terms of stability, efficiency, acceptance, etc Regards Sandeep Jindal

  • Accessing a file in Windows and Linux when working with JAVA+Eclipse.

    - by Gabriel A. Zorrilla
Hi there. I'm doing some JAVA coding at home and at work. At home i have Linux, work, Windows. The rootpath to X file in Windows is c:\Documents And Settings\User\My Documents\Dropbox\file.xxx and in Linux is something like /media/My Documents/Dropbox/file.xxx So, every time i edit in either system, i have to manually change the root of the file in a new File(FILEPATH) statement. Is there a workaround for this? I bet if the file root is relative to the project resource tree would do the trick, but that's an Eclipse based solution, not JAVA, i believe.

  • How to get vm arguments from inside of java application?

    - by Dmitriy Matveev
Hello, I need to check if some option which can be passed to JVM is explicitly set or is it have default value. To be more specific: I need to create one specific thread with higher native stack size than the default one, but in case then user want to take care of such things by himself by specifying -Xss option I want to create all threads with default stack size (which will be specified by user in -Xss option). I've checked classes like java.lang.System and java.lang.Runtime, but these aren't giving me information about vmargs. Is there any way to get information I need?

  • How to save, retrieve and draw an image using Java and PostgreSQL?

    - by spderosso
Given an object X; I want this object to have an image. The image must be stored in the database. I can't store the path, the actual image must be in the database. My question can be answered by answering the following subquestions: a). What type of field should I put in the database? (e.g VARCHAR) b) What type of object should I use for storing and manipulating the image (at an object layer)? (e.g java.awt.Image) c) How do I create an object of the type selected (answer of question b) from the data obtained from the database? d) How do I save an object of the type selected (answer of question b) to the database? e) How do I draw the image on a web page? I am using PostgreSQL, Java and it is a web application. Thanks!

  • Having a little trouble with this Java code. Beginner probably mixing some things with C#.

    - by Sergio Tapia
package practico1; /** * Programador: Sergio Tapia Gutierrez * Fecha: Lunes 10, Mayo - 2010 * Practico: 1 */ public class Main { public static void main(String[] args) { System.out.println("Esta es una pequena aplicacion para mostrar los"); System.out.println("distintos tipos de datos que existen en Java 6."); //boolean, char, byte, short, int, long, float, double, String ejemplosBoolean(); } public void ejemplosBoolean(){ } } So, I'm just testing some things out, but I'm getting an error claiming that I'm trying to run ejemplosBoolean() in a static context when it isn't a static method. My question is, in Java do methods have to have static in order to use them even if they are in the same class?

  • Format date from SQLCE to display in DataGridView

    - by Ruben Trancoso
hi folks, I have a DataGridView bound to a table from a .sdf database through a BindSource. The date column display dates like "d/M/yyyy HH:mm:ss". e.: "27/2/1971 00:00:00". I want to make it display just "27/02/1971" in its place. I tried to apply DataGridViewCellStyle {format=dd/MM/yyyy} but nothing happens, event with other pre-built formats. On the the other side, there's a Form with a MasketTextBox with a "dd/MM/yyyy" mask to its input that is bound to the same column and uses a Parse and a Format event handler before display and send it to the db. Binding dataNascimentoBinding = new Binding("Text", this.source, "Nascimento", true); dataNascimentoBinding.Format += new ConvertEventHandler(Util.formatDateConvertEventHandler); dataNascimentoBinding.Parse += new ConvertEventHandler(Util.parseDateConvertEventHandler); this.dataNascimentoTxt.DataBindings.Add(dataNascimentoBinding); public static string convertDateString2DateString(string dateString, string inputFormat, string outputFormat ) { DateTime date = DateTime.ParseExact(dateString, inputFormat, DateTimeFormatInfo.InvariantInfo); return String.Format("{0:" + outputFormat + "}", date); } public static void formatDateConvertEventHandler(object sender, ConvertEventArgs e) { if (e.DesiredType != typeof(string)) return; if (e.Value.GetType() != typeof(string)) return; String dateString = (string)e.Value; e.Value = convertDateString2DateString(dateString, "d/M/yyyy HH:mm:ss", "dd/MM/yyyy"); } public static void parseDateConvertEventHandler(object sender, ConvertEventArgs e) { if (e.DesiredType != typeof(string)) return; if (e.Value.GetType() != typeof(string)) return; string value = (string)e.Value; try { e.Value = DateTime.ParseExact(value, "dd/MM/yyyy", DateTimeFormatInfo.InvariantInfo); } catch { return; } } Like you can see by the code it was expexted that Date coming from SQL would be a DateTime value as is its column, but my eventHandler is receiving a string instead. Likewise, the result date for parse should be a datetime but its a string also. I'm puzzled dealing with this datetime column.

  • Switching Timezones in Perl's Template::Toolkit plugin Template::Plugin::Date

    - by aidan
I have a calendar on my website, generated in Perl using Template::Toolkit and Template::Plugin::Date. It highlights the current day. I achieve this by iterating through all the dates (as I print the calendar) and comparing against the current date. Something like this: [% IF cur_date == date.format(format = '%Y-%m-%d') %] ... [% END %] It all works well until someone in Australia looks at it. (They are in a different timezone to me and my server in the UK). What's the best way to get Template::Plugin::Date to use a different time zone? It accepts a 'locale' parameter, but AFAIK this is only used for formatting.

  • MATLAB date selection popup calendar for gui

    - by Doresoom
Does anyone know of a method to display a popup date selection calendar in a MATLAB gui? I know the financial toolbox has a uicalendar function, but unfortunately I don't have that toolbox. I have a hunch I'm going to have to use some Java or some other language for this one, which I know nothing about. I'm looking for something similar to this: which would return a date string after the user selects the date.

  • Casting and getting values from date picker and time picker in android

    - by Rahul Varma
Hi , I have a date picker and a time picker in my app. Can anyone tell me how to get the values of the date and time that are selected??? What i mean to say is, for EditText we can declare as final EditText Name = (EditText) this.findViewById(R.id.nametext); and we can cast the data of it by using Name.getText().toString(). So similarly how can we get the values of date picker and time picker to a string???

  • Problem with date parameter - Oracle

    - by Nicole
Hi everyone! I have this stored procedure: CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE "LIQUIDACION_OBTENER" ( p_Cuenta IN NUMBER, p_Fecha IN DATE, p_Detalle OUT LIQUIDACION.FILADETALLE%TYPE ) IS BEGIN SELECT FILADETALLE INTO p_Detalle FROM Liquidacion WHERE (FILACUENTA = p_Cuenta) AND (FILAFECHA = p_Fecha); END; and my c# code: string liquidacion = string.Empty; OracleCommand command = new OracleCommand("Liquidacion_Obtener"); command.BindByName = true; command.Parameters.Add(new OracleParameter("p_Cuenta", OracleDbType.Int64)); command.Parameters["p_Cuenta"].Value = cuenta; command.Parameters.Add(new OracleParameter("p_Fecha", OracleDbType.Date)); command.Parameters["p_Fecha"].Value = fecha; command.Parameters.Add("p_Detalle", OracleDbType.Varchar2, ParameterDirection.Output); OracleConnectionHolder connection = null; connection = this.GetConnection(); command.Connection = connection.Connection; command.CommandTimeout = 30; command.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; OracleDataReader lector = command.ExecuteReader(); while (lector.Read()) { liquidacion += ((OracleString)command.Parameters["p_Detalle"].Value).Value; } the thing is that when I try to put a value into the parameter "Fecha" (that is a date) the code gives me this error (when the line command.ExecuteReader(); is executed) Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException : ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error ORA-06512: at "SYSTEM.LIQUIDACION_OBTENER", line 9 ORA-06512: at line 1 the thing is that te date in the data base is saved like a date but it's format is "2010-APR-14" and the value I send is a datetime that has this format: "14/04/2010 00:00:00" could it be that??? I hope my post is understandable.. thanks!!!!!!!!!!

  • Date since 1600 to NSDate?

    - by Steven Fisher
I have a date that's stored as a number of days since January 1, 1600 that I need to deal with. This is a legacy date format that I need to read many, many times in my application. Previously, I'd been creating a calendar, empty date components and root date like this: self.gregorian = [[[NSCalendar alloc] initWithCalendarIdentifier: NSGregorianCalendar ] autorelease]; id rootComponents = [[[NSDateComponents alloc] init] autorelease]; [rootComponents setYear: 1600]; [rootComponents setMonth: 1]; [rootComponents setDay: 1]; self.rootDate = [gregorian dateFromComponents: rootComponents]; self.offset = [[[NSDateComponents alloc] init] autorelease]; Then, to convert the integer later to a date, I use this: [offset setDay: theLegacyDate]; id eventDate = [gregorian dateByAddingComponents: offset toDate: rootDate options: 0]; (I never change any values in offset anywhere else.) The problem is I'm getting a different time for rootDate on iOS vs. Mac OS X. On Mac OS X, I'm getting midnight. On iOS, I'm getting 8:12:28. (So far, it seems to be consistent about this.) When I add my number of days later, the weird time stays. OS | legacyDate | rootDate | eventDate ======== | ========== | ==========================|========================== Mac OS X | 143671 | 1600-01-01 00:00:00 -0800 | 1993-05-11 00:00:00 -0700 iOS | 143671 | 1600-01-01 08:12:28 +0000 | 1993-05-11 07:12:28 +0000 In the previous release of my product, I didn't care about the time; now I do. Why the weird time on iOS, and what should I do about it? (I'm assuming the hour difference is DST.) I've tried setting the hour, minute and second of rootComponents to 0. This has no impact. If I set them to something other than 0, it adds them to 8:12:28. I've been wondering if this has something to do with leap seconds or other cumulative clock changes. Or is this entirely the wrong approach to use on iOS?

  • Date Picker Blue

    - by Matt Winters
I'm successfully setting a date-picker with an initial date from a plist, but I see some unwanted blue values in the month, day, and year components, presumably corresponding to current date. So if today is April 18, 2010 and initial date being set is March 19, 2008, it looks like this (bold represents the blue): January 17 2006 February 18 2007 ------------------------------ March 19 2008 ------------------------------ April 20 2009 May 21 2010 First question is: How do I get rid of the blue? And second question: Ideally, how do I get it to look like this? January 17 2006 February 18 2007 ------------------------------ March 19 2008 ------------------------------ April 20 2009 May 21 2010 Third question, totally unrelated and not as important: How could I have gotten the above to show in blue rather than bold? I see blue in code snippets all the time. Matt

  • How do I set TargetNullValue to a date?

    - by Bryan Anderson
I'm using the WPF toolkit's Calendar control to allow users to select a date. If the date is not yet selected then the property the SelectedDate is bound to is Null. This makes the Calendar default you January 1, 0 AD. I'd like to do something like SelectedDate="{Binding UserPickedDate, TargetNullValue=Today, Mode=TwoWay}" But both "Today" and "Now" throw binding errors. Can I use TargetNullValue to set the default date to Today or Now?
