• E-Business Suite 11.5.10 Fenntartó Támogatással és 12.1 Meghosszabbított Támogatással kapcsolatos külön bejelentés

  Igaz, az idei Oracle Open World (OOW) már régen volt, de akkor ez a blog még nem létezett. Ugyanakkor azóta többektol kaptam kérdést az OOW-n tett E-Business Suite támogatással kapcsolatos bejelentés értelmezésére vonatkozóan. Ezért gondoltam, hasznos lehet a magyar felhasználók számára, ha írok pár sort a bejelentésrol. Az E-Business Suite (EBS) 11.5.10 verzióhoz kapcsolódó bejelentés: Az Oracle Élettartam Támogatási modellje szerint ez a verzió általánosan 2004. novembertol volt elérheto, melyre az Oracle 2010. november 30-ig biztosított Premier Támogatást, 2010. December 1-tol 2013. november végéig pedig Meghosszabbított Támogatást nyújt. Jövo év december 1-tol az EBS 11.5.10 verzió Fenntartó Támogatás szakaszba kerül. Fenntartó Támogatás szakaszban az újonnan felfedezett bug-okat már nem javítja a Fejlesztés. A bejelentés szerint Oracle a 11.5.10 esetében kivételt tesz és a 2013. december 1-tol 2014. november 30-ig terjedo idoszakban az éles üzemet érinto 1-es súlyossági szintu problémák esetében biztosítani fogja új hibák javítását is. Amire ügyelni érdemes, a rendszer a  Doc ID 883202.1 My Oracle Support dokumentumban részletezett minimum patch szinten kell legyen.   Ez a plusz szolgáltatás nem befolyásolja a támogatási díjat. Az E-Business Suite (EBS) 12.1 verzióhoz kapcsolódó bejelentés   Az EBS 12.1 verzió Meghosszabbított támogatásának eredetileg mehírdetett idoszaka 2014. május 1. – 2017. április 30. volt. Oracle ezt az idoszakot 19 hónappal megtoldotta, így ennek a verziónak a Meghosszabbított Támogatása 2018. december 31-ig tart majd. További jó hír e verziót használó Ügyfeleink számára, hogy a Meghosszabbított Támogatás emelt díjától az Oracle eltekint. Standard Oracle árazás szerint a Meghosszabbított Támogatás elso évében a szolgáltatási díj a Premier Támogatás díjának 110%-a, a második, ill. harmadik években a Premier Támogatás díjának 120%-a. Oracle jelen esetben a plusz 10%-tól, ill. a plusz 20 %-tól eltekint. Íly módon a Meghosszabbított Támogatást Oracle a Premier Támogatás díjért biztosítja majd.   I am working on a project where I need to allow a pluggable way to inject business processes in the normal data flow. eg There is an ordering system. The standard flow of the application is A consumer orders an item. Pays for it and card is authorized. Admin captures the payment. Order is marked as complete and item is shipped. But this process may vary (extra steps in between) for different clients. Say a client would need to validate the location of the consumer before he is presented with a credit card form, OR his policies might require some other processes in between. I am thinking of using State Pattern for processing orders, saving the current state of the order in database, and initializing the state of order from the saved state. I would also need some mechanism, where a small plugin would be able to inject business specific states in the state machine. Am I thinking the right way? Are there already implemented patterns for this kind of situation? I am working with Codeigniter and basically this would mean for me, to redirect to proper controller according to the current state of the order. Like, if the state of the order is unconfirmed then redirect the user to details page and then change the state to pending. If some client would need to do some validation, then register an intermediate state between unconfirmed and pending Please suggest.

I was reading this article and I've got a couple of quick questions, How is the constructor for value objects commonly defined? As one that takes in all "data members" as parameters or stick to the default constructor and use mutator / accessor methods to set / get data members? • World Record Oracle E-Business Consolidated Workload on SPARC T4-2

  Oracle set a World Record for the Oracle E-Business Suite Standard Medium multiple-online module benchmark using Oracle's SPARC T4-2 and SPARC T4-4 servers which ran the application and database. • Business Objects: Refresh Data problem with .NET API

  I'm currently using the BO API for .NET to connect to our reports database. In .NET, I'm getting the following error: Your security profile does not include permission to refresh Web Intelligence documents. (WIS 30253) Interestingly enough, I can log into BO, and I can refresh the data and grab prompts as I'm logged in. From .NET, with the same username and password, I can't seem to do so. Anybody have any thoughts on this?

• Pair programming business logic with a non-IT person

  Have you have any experience in which a non-IT person works with a programmer during the coding process? It's like pair programming, but one person is a non-IT person that knows a lot about the business, maybe a process engineer with math background who knows how things are calculated and can understand non-idiomatic, procedural code. I've found that some procedural, domain-specific languages like PL/SQL are quite understandable by non-IT engineers. These person end up being co-authors of the code and guarantee the correctness of formulas, factors etc. I've found this kind of pair programming quite productive, this kind of engineer user feel they are also "owners" and "authors" of the code and help minimize misunderstanding in the communication process. They even help design the test cases. Is this practice common ? Does it have a name ? Have you had similar experiences ?

• Business Analyst vs. Architect [closed]

  I'm a developer of a few years in the financial industry and will soon need to decide what career path to try and row towards. Broadly speaking I have two options: something more 'people' oriented like BAs, or keep coding and try to make more technical decisions like the Architects do where I currently work. Here are my perceptions right now: Business Analysts: get paid way more than devs once they do their job, it seems like they usually have no worries more likely to go REALLY high up in the organization (VPs, etc) Architects: things like certification matters (I see this as a con) called in when things go wrong more than anyone else (weekends & overtime) long career path to get to (dev - senior dev - team lead - architect) I would find the latter more intellectually rewarding, but when I look at it I just can't justify it in terms of lifestyle. Am I wrong / what am I missing? Can you really make a lot of money in a technical role or must you really get out of coding? Thank you for any constructive input.

  I have created a simple MVC java application that adds records through data forms to a database. my app collects data, it also validates it and stores it. This is because the data is being sourced online from different users. the data is mostly numeric in nature. now on the numeric data being stored into database (SQL server) , i wish that my app should be able to perform computations... and display it. the user is not interested in how computations are done so they must be encapsulated. the user must only be able to view the simple computed data which for example A column data - B Column data / C column data etc... and just display it to the user... i know how to write stored procedures for same but i want a 3 tier app I want the data, that I put into the database as a record, worked upon by performing calculations on it. However, the original data should remain unaffected, while the new data, post-calculations, must be stored as a new entity record into the database. Where should I write the code for this background calculation? As it is the rules and business logic... in a new java beans files ?

  So let's say that I've finished programming a simple, indie MMO game similiar to Tibia. I've got a stable server application that is ready to launch, i've got a tested bug-free working client application that is ready to play and the game's official website (ready to host) with payment system and client that is ready to download for free. Let's say none of them break copyright laws, and no matter how impossible it sounds, let's for now say it's true. My game divides accounts into two groups - free and premium. If someone gets premium, he's granted access to all possible game features, that of course, need server authorisation to work properly. Let's say that the "premium account" can be bought on the website for a fixed money/month. Free accounts mean that everyone can actually play, but without paying, you get limited access. This is what the mentioned payment system will be for. Well, I'm completely novice to these business entities issues, so in short: what, in terms of law, are steps from here to the state where my game earns money in a fully legal way ? Also, is there for example, something like verification if game gives the user what it actually offers when paying on its website ? I live in Europe, if it changes something.
