• Ruby on Rails / PostgreSQL - Library not Loaded error when starting server- libq.5.dylib

  I have app that is running Ruby 1.9.2, Rails 3, and postgreSQL 8.3. It was originally setup and working with postgreSQL 9.1, but I uninstalled 9.1 and installed and changed to 8.3 insure compatibility on a Heroku shared database setup. It was running ok, but it's not now Now, when working on this app, when I run a database upgrade I get this error: dlopen(/Users/michaeljmccoy/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.9.2-p290/gems/pg-0.12.2/lib/pg_ext.bundle, 9): Library not loaded: libpq.5.dylib Referenced from: /Users/michaeljmccoy/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.9.2-p290/gems/pg-0.12.2/lib/pg_ext.bundle Reason: no suitable image found. • Crypted_password is null when using Authlogic to save a user

• Rails Passenger Nginx cannot load such file -- bundler

  I have set up Rails, Passenger, nginx, and PostgreSQL on Ubuntu Server 12.04LTS. Upon trying to access the application/website, however, I am greeted with an error page saying that the application could not be started because a source file is missing. Error message: cannot load such file -- bundler. My nginx config (/opt/nginx/conf/nginx.conf): user railsapp; worker_processes 1; events { worker_connections 1024; } http { include mime.types; default_type application/octet-stream; sendfile on; keepalive_timeout 65; passenger_root /home/railsapp/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.9.3-p194/gems/passenger-3.0.14; passenger_ruby /home/railsapp/.rvm/rubies/ruby-1.9.3-p194/bin/ruby; server { listen 80; server_name fitness_schedules.local; root /home/railsapp/fitness_schedules/public; passenger_enabled on; rack_env development; } } Here is the error message: A source file that the application requires, is missing. • Using Bundler along with preinstalled gems

  So I've got thin installed the old fashioned way: gem install thin I put an app on the server and installed all of its required gems via bundler: bundle install But, when I tried to start the app with thin start, it can't find any of the bundler-installed gems since they're not installed in the default gems directory. My question is: how do I make this work? Do I need to install thin via bundler as well? Will that still set up the thin executable in /usr/bin so I can start it from the command line like normal? Thanks!

  In a fresh new Ubuntu machine, I have installed ruby with sudo apt-get install ruby1.8 and then installed rubygem1.8 with : sudo apt-get install rubygems and after that installed rails3.2.8 with : gem install rails The procedure was very simple.   I've got a Sinatra app that I'm trying to run on Dreamhost that makes use of pony to send email. In order to get the application up and running at the very beginning (before adding pony), I had to gem unpack rack and gem unpack sinatra into the vendor/ directory, so this was my config.ru: require 'vendor/rack/lib/rack' require 'vendor/sinatra/lib/sinatra' set :run, false set :environment, :production set :views, "views" require 'public/myapp.rb' run Sinatra::Application I have already done gem install pony and gem unpack pony (into vendor/). Afterwards, I tried adding require 'vendor/sinatra/lib/pony' to config.ru only to have Passenger complain about pony's dependencies (mime-types, tmail) not being found either! There has to be a better way to use other gems and tone down those long, ugly, redundant requires. Any thoughts?

• Open Source Chef Server can't upload cookbook

  I just setup the open source chef server on an Ubuntu 12.04 EC2 instance, I've setup my webui and am able to get responses from my knife commands ie: knife node list, knife client list, knife user list, etc... I'm able to update roles, databags, environments, etc... but I cannot upload any cookbooks. I'm running my workstation on Mac OSX. I keep getting this output at the end of my command knife cookbook upload -VV curl.
