• Upgrading PEAR from 1.9.0 to 1.9.1 fails

  Hi All, I'm willing to install phpunit 5.3 with MAMP 1.9 and there for I need to upgrade PEAR to version 1.9.1. The current version installed is 1.9.0. When I try the to upgrade I get the following: sudo pear channel-update pear.php.net sudo pear upgrade pear Could not get contents of package "/Applications/MAMP/bin/php5.3/bin/pear". Invalid tgz file. upgrade failed When I force the upgrade It still doesn't work: sudo pear upgrade --force PEAR downloading PEAR-1.9.1.tgz ... • VirtualName-based local development host behind corporate proxy (MAMP)

  I am behind a corporate proxy server/firewall, and this firewall seems to not be too happy with my idea of local development. On my home computer (Mac/Leopard), I have MAMP running, with a rule in /etc/hosts that directs dev.example.com to 127.0.0.1, and I have a virtualhost set up in the httpd.conf file which works great for me. However, at work, I set up the exact same configuration, but am not able to access dev.example.com, likely due to some address/DNS translation going on via the proxy server. Here are the relevant details from Terminal: $ ping dev.example.com PING dev.example.com (127.0.0.1): 56 data bytes 64 bytes from 127.0.0.1: icmp_seq=0 ttl=64 time=0.025 ms $ host dev.example.com Host dev.example.com not found: 3(NXDOMAIN) I've tried adding dev.example.com to the list of bypass addresses in System Preferences (the 'Bypass proxy settings for these Hosts & Domains' list), but that had no effect. Is there any way I can develop locally using name-based hosts at work? I can access localhost, but can't get to the dev.example.com (or any other custom virtualhosts) here at work, which complicates other matters related to the sites on which I'm working...

• Cannot change default path to php on OS X Snow Leopard

  I have installed MAMP on OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.8) and I want to change the default path for PHP. I tried both of the answers on this question, and on this question, and in this thread but when I'm trying which php in Terminal I still get /usr/bin/php. I'm starting to get the impression that I'm doing something profoundly wrong, so any idea about what that might be, will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

• Can't diagnose my MySQL root user problem

  Hi all, I have a problem with the MySQL root user in My MySQL setup, and I just can't for the life of me work out how to fix it. It seems that I have somehow messed up the root user, and my access to databases is now very erratic. For reference, I'm using MAMP on OS X to provide the MySQL server. I'm not sure how much that matters though - I'd guess that whatever I've done will require a command-line fix to solve it. I can start MySQL using MAMP as usual, and access databases using the 'standard' users I have created for my PHP apps. However, the root user, which I use in my MySQL GUI client, and also in phpMyAdmin, can only access the "information_schema" database, as well as two I have created manually, and presumably (and mistakenly) left permissions wide open for. My 15 or so other databases cannot be accessed my the root user. When I load up phpMyAdmin, the home screen says: "Create new database: No Privileges". I certainly did at some stage change my root user's password using the MAMP dialog. But I don't remember if I did anything else which might have caused this problem. I've tried changing the password again, and there seems to be no change in the issue. I've also tried resetting root password using the command line, including starting mysql manually with --skip-grant-tables then flushing privs, but again, nothing seems to fix the issue. I've come to the end of my ideas, and would very much appreciate some step-by-step advice and diagnosis from one of the experts here! Many thanks for your help.

• Mac OS X 10.6 Setup for Apache/MySQL/Perl

  I just got a new Mac and have been trying to setup a local development environment for my perl applications for a few days now with no luck. I'm getting no where fast so I hope someone else who has done this successfully could help. I started by installing MAMP which I thought would take care of everything for me but unfortunately it doesn't take care of some important perl modules. I used CPAN to install all our required modules except that it seems DBD::mysql doesn't install correctly through CPAN. • need to stop mysql server on my mac os x

  I just installed xampp on my mac os x. When I tried start mysql it display a message that mysql is already running on this computer. In order to start mysql stop first mysql. • Wordpress + VMware CSS path problem

  I posted a similar question earlier today but this question is clearer. I want to locally develop my Wordpress websites (on my Mac) and test them in Internet Explorer (6,7,8) on Windows XP. I can get the MAMP welcome screen to show in Windows XP, so I know VMWare is doing it's thing. The local URL for my site (on my Mac) is: URL (http://d3creative:8888/) But the local URL under VMware/Internet Explorer is: URL (http://192.168.2.1:8888/d3creative/) This is the only way I can get it to show up, problem is all the CSS styles are referencing the local Mac URL (http://d3creative:8888/) So understandably the CSS isn't showing up. Is there a way to tell Windows that "http://192.168.2.1:8888/d3creative/" should equal "http://d3creative:8888/" I've tried editing the "hosts" file within in Windows XP and I've rebooted after making any changes, but nothing is working. My software: MAMP Pro (v1.8.2) Wordpress (v2.8.6) Windows XP (SP3) Internet Explorer (6, 7, 8) Any help would be much appreciated. Stephen Meehan

• Can't install Acquia Drupal Commons locally

  Working on a MacbookPro OS 10.6.6 , using MAMP Pro 1.9.4. I'm attempting to install Acquia's Drupal Commons locally. The installation progress bar goes all the way, I can check in phpMyadmin that the database has been populated, but before the site configuration screen , I get a 500 Server Error! Standard Drupal 6 or 7 install without any problem & I was able to install Drupal Commons on my web server. So it seems that some form of conflicts happens between my server configuration ( Mamp Pro ) and Drupal Commons. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

  Hello guys, I've installed MAMP on my MacBook PRO Leopard OS. Phpmyadmin is working fine but I would like to use the terminal or bash to practice MySQL. I seem to have a problem with it. When I say: "mysql -h localhost -u root -p" / "mysql -h localhost -u root", it gives the following error. • netbeans 6.8 php, xdebug, mamp - cannot establish a connection

  I'm having no luck whatsoever with debuggers either on Zend Studio or NetBeans. I cannot believe the difficulty I'm having with these IDE's. I've read all the prior questions on netbeans-xdebug problems. According to those answers, my configuration is correct. Nonetheless, when I try to run xdebug, NetBeans hangs. I cancel the connection and get the popup dialog: "There is no connection, blah blah blah..." Here's my php.ini [xdebug] ; Xdebug config for Mac OS X and NetBeans IDE zend_extension=/Applications/MAMP/bin/php5/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613/xdebug.so xdebug.remote_enable=on xdebug.remote_handler=dbgp xdebug.remote_mode=req xdebug.remote_host=127.0.0.1 xdebug.remote_port=9000 xdebug.idekey=netbeans-xdebug In NetBeans preferences, my session ID = netbeans-xdebug.   Hello All Python Pro's , I'm using mamp server for testing out all my web pages. I'm new to python. I'm able to run a script in python interpreter that will normally print a hello world. print "Hello World!" So i used the same line in a file with name test.py . So how should I run this on web. As am new to python, i tried some normal things, placing test.py in /htdocs/cgi-bin/ and trying to open it. But it says forbidden page. Anyone please help me making this work. Thanks

  Hi, I'm experimenting (and having problems!) with codeigniter. In particular, links do not work. even if they are correct (eg. http://localhost/ci-book/welcome/cat/3, where welcome is controller, cat the method), they can't be open and chrome says "Oops! This link appears to be broken...." Someone suggested to check that mod_rewrite is working. How can I do that? I'm using Mamp. thanks, P.

• Versions. "Is not a working copy"

  A little background first: I'm a designer/developer and decided to use subversion for a personal project. I'm the only one working on this project. I've setup a Beanstalk account and installed Versions on Mac. Locally I have MySQL and PHP running through MAMP. What I want to do is develop locally and push code into Beanstalk. I'm not planning on deploying from Beanstalk to my live server at this moment. In Beanstalk I created a repository and imported all my code. I then installed Versions and added a bookmark to the Beanstalk repository. So far so good. Next I guess (this is a wild guess) I need to add a so called 'working copy bookmark' so that Versions can watch my local copy for changes and commit it to my Beanstalk repository. Problem: When I click 'Create working copy bookmark' in Versions and I select a folder on my computer I get the error: '/Applications/MAMP/www_mydomain' is not a working copy' I have no clue what that means and now I'm stuck. How can I tell Versions to keep track of changes of a local folder?

• Trouble tunneling my local Wordpress install to the mysql database on appfog

  I've set up a wordpress install on appfog (using rackspace), and cloned the install to my local machine for development. I know the install works (using MAMP) because I created a local mysql database and changed wp-config.php to point to it. However, I want to develop without having to change wp-config.php every time I commit. After doing some research, it seems like the Appfog service Caldecott lets me tunnel into the mysql database on the server, using af tunnel. Unfortunately, I'm having issues with getting it working. Even if I change my MAMP mysql port to something like 8889, and tunnel mysql through port 3306, it looks like it's connected but I still get "Error establishing a database connection" when loading my localhost Wordpress. When I quit the mysql monitor (using ctrl+x, ctrl+c), I get a message stating "Error: 'mysql' execution failed; is it in your $PATH?'. Originally, no, it wasn't, but I've fixed my PATH variable on my local machine so that when I go to Terminal and just type mysql, it loads up. So I guess my question is 2 parts: 1.)Am I going with the right approach for Wordpress development on my local machine and 2.)If so, why is the tunnel not working?

It works great with jpg and jpeg files of any size, but not with png.   I'm trying to install Image Magick on MAMP. And I'm seriously out of my depth. I've installed MacPorts, and opened the terminal. I've typed in sudo port -v selfupdate per the instructions on http://www.macports.org/install.php#pkg But the response I get from the Terminal is Unrecognized action "sudo" I've googled and googled, but can't find anything that makes a slab of sense. • Web App fails when moved to production environment. Which server permissions do I need?

  I have developed a small web app. This app allows users to upload images. It also produces text files with the names of those images (the names are stored and retrieved to/from an MySQL Database.) I have developed this app using MAMP. To create the uploaded image files I use the PHP function imagejpeg('my/path/name.jpg') and to delete the files I use the PHP function unlink('folder1/folder2/name.jpg') to write to the text document I am using the function fopen('folder1/folder2/name.txt', 'w') all three of these functions produce errors related to permissions - now the site has been moved to a live hosting environment. Why is this? and what permissions do I need to set the folder's folder1 and folder2 to? I know that permission 777 is generally bad because it opens up your server to the public. However what I have found is that the functions fail to work unless I use 777 on the folders. Can anyone shed any light on my dilemma?

• Subversion: What to do with branches, tags and trunk folders?

I've setup a Beanstalk account and installed Versions on Mac. Locally I have MySQL and PHP running through MAMP. First thing I did in Versions is click the 'checkout' button. I selected my webroot folder and a folder has been created with three subfolders: branches, tags, trunk. I don't understand what to do with this. My code lives in the webroot and a bunch of subfolders and I can't move my code to any of the three folders without breaking things. So, my question is, how do I tell Versions that my code is in the webroot folder and not in the folder it created itself?
