  New to php and taking a class for it. Bought php6 and mysql 6 bible to get started. Of course the hello world script is the first you get and it doesn't show. • select subquery cause mysql server to be unresponsive

  DELETE FROM item_measurement WHERE measurement_id IN ( SELECT (-id) AS measurement_id FROM invoice_item WHERE invoice_id = 'A3722' ) I've really tried hard to find what's wrong with the code. I tried to run this in a php page, which doesn't respond. I also tried the same line in phpmyadmin, infinite spinning circle and I had to restart the server(MAMP on Mac 10.9). No error was given in browser/ If I run the delete and select separately, they both finish very quickly. I don't think it's a performance issue because the separate run took < 0.1 sec each. Thanks for any help in advance. Edit: I also found that a simple select statement will also suspend mysql: select * from item_measurement where measurement_id in (select -id from invoice_item where invoice_id='A3722')

• Setting cookie for site in http and https under different subdomains in PHP

  Situation: 1. I'm trying run an https store(xcart) under one domain secure.mydomain and I want to have access to a cookie it sets in http www.mydomain 2. I'm Running PHP on apache(MAMP), testing in firefox with firecookie 3. The existing code sets cookies to .secure.mydomain. I'm not sure if this is xcart related, but setcookie is actually called using secure.mydomain. I'm not sure why the "." is appended. Problems: 1. When I try to use setcookie in https to use the domain .mydomain or just mydomain, no cookie is created, whether I'm running the store under http or https. The testing code I'm using is: setcookie('three', 'two', 0, "/", ".mydomain"); If I set the cookie to secure.mydomain or .secure.mydomain it does show up. Is there a reason the cookie isn't showing up?

• Where is the rand php function located? localhost php running, path of default functions?

  I have a local server installed on my Mac (MAMP). My question is, where I can find the php functions in my computer? What is the path to the functions folder? For instance, rand() time() isset() explode(). I would like to se the code to learn of it. I have a while looking for it, but I can't find it. Or is it that is already compiled? • File upload with tdo-miniforms not working

  I am using the TDO-miniforms plugin for wordpress. I have a form set up that lets the user submit files. The files are successfully uploaded to the tmp-folder, but once the post is created they are not copied into the allocated post folder. The only thing that is created in the folder with a post id is a file called array. It seems like the file holds the binary data of the uploaded files. The “correct” urls are appended to the post content I am running wordpress 2.9.2 on snow leopard using Mamp.

• How do I keep folders synced and backed up between two macs using a Linux NAS (rsync?)

  I've got two primary computers, one Mac Pro and one MacBook Pro for when I'm on the go. I've also got a Linux sever which also acts as NAS. Currently I backup the entire computers to an external drive with Time Machine which is rather useless and doesn't sync anything. What I really want to do is to keep my important files synced between both computers and my NAS (which is running RAID 5), that way I'm not backing up easily replaceable systemfiles and I've got all my important files in 3 places where two of them are running raid so at least 5 drives would have to crash at the same time before actual data loss occur. Folders I want to keep synced is basically my photo, documents, development, mamp and work folders and then I want to keep the user library folder backed up but not synced. I'm thinking that I'd have to use rsync but don't know how. Before suggesting Dropbox and similar suggestions I don't want to use them because of several reasons some of them being security (Dropbox obviously proved this), Speed (sometimes I'll sync gigabytes of data and that will be significantly faster locally and probably even through VPN as I have a Gigabit pipe), Space (space on my NAS is cheap and only practically limited by my needs), reliability (even if my internet were to go down I still need to be able to keep my files synced incase I'd need to go somewhere on the fly), price (I already have all the hardware and for the amount of gigabytes and bandwidth I'd need I doubt that there's any free or cheap service). Those are my main reason for wanting to keep it locally. I'm sorry for any spelling or grammatical mistakes that I've might have done. I'm writing this on my smartphone from a shaky train and English isn't my mother tongue. I gratefully appreciate any answers even if only partly solving my problem.

  Hi, I'm looking for any Mac compatibile development tools that are tried and tested. I'm quite sick of my MySQL query browser crashing... And i'm sure there is probably better software out there anyways... At the moment my focus is dedicated to application development using PHP/MySQL/Ajax. (although, I will be learning ActionScript/Flex shortly). Here are the apps I regularly use and a general idea of the environment I work in: Hosting - localhost: Mamp Production: Amazon EC2 IDE - Coda: PHP/Mysql/Javascript Mysql - PHPMyAdmin MySQL query browser FTP - Coda FileZilla X11 is used for connecting to my production environment I am mainly looking for... -tools that will help me better manage (create, edit... whatever) databases. -Version control. This is huge as I'm working with a team of three other developers (we reeeeeeaaally need to standardize our environments..) Although any cool little tools to make my job easier are always a plus! • Correct way to set up office network - 8 workstations, a file server and a staging server

  Our office had this old school windows 2003 domain setup, our server caught fire, and now we are looking to do it right from scratch. Here is what we need: 5 PC and 3 Mac workstations for web development, they will each have WAMP/MAMP setup on them, managed by their developers. We will have a file server for assets, and a LAMP server with an external IP for staging. Here is what we have to work with: 5 IP addresses, brand new PC file server with windows 2008 SE, D-Link DSS-16+ 16 port switch, belkin 5 port wireless router, cable modem with 4 ports. How I have it set up now (this is a temporary makeshift setup): Cable modem = LAMP server, wireless router Wireless router = Switch = All of the workstations and file server (setup as a workgroup). We have noticed our internet is very slow with us all plugged in to the switch, and the switch plugged in to the router. I am not positive, but I think it is because our router does not have NAT. We are also having problems with the MACs connection to the network drive - it keeps disconnecting. I want this done right, and we have a ~$600 budget to buy anything else we need. Does anybody have any advice for me? Should I set up a domain or workgroup?

• Getting Windows (VMware) to load from OSX's localhost without an Internet Connection

  I'm using MAMP to host my local sites, and VirtualHostX so that I can access sites during local development via a convenient URL like mysite.dev I'm also running Windows XP via VirtualBox, and it would be great to be able to load up any of my local sites within windows while offline as currently often working without access, on the move, unfortunately. I know that I can append my IP and a nice domain name to the host file in C:/WINDOWS/system32/drivers/etc ... and i can find my IP simply through terminal with "ifconfig" while I'm online. The problem is that when I'm not online, there's no IP. Even if there is an IP (when i have a connection), I still have grab it and update the windows hosts' file all the time, since I'm developing from a laptop and have a new IP at the drop of a dime. I found a tutorial where the author is able to get a permanent IP. He uses VMware Fusion as his VMachine, which is the only difference between his setup and mine. By running the terminal command "ifconfig vmnet1" he gets: a secret IP the virtual machine uses to talk to OSX And that doesn't change - which is awesome. I'm assuming it exists even if he's offline. • Use Mac OS X Server As Development Environment

  I've installed Mac OS X Server 10.6.3 on my laptop to use as my normal OS. I do a lot of web development and thought it would be handy to run OS X Server so I could more easily manage my local development environment (Apache Virtual Hosts, Hostnames for each local site, etc). I'm really enjoying the new setup except for one problem. DNS. My ideal situation would be to add a site (some-site.local) in the Web Service and then go to the DNS Service and add a primary record for the new site. I actually got this working at one point but after a reboot it stopped working! The records look the same as they did before the reboot but the site doesn't come up in Safari. Here is a list of my needs: Need to be able to add new domains at a whim Domains always map to a site on the same box's Web Service Local & External IPs often change It would nice if it worked on any network (i.e. WiFi at the airport or coffee shop) Sites only need to be accessible locally Configuration should stay put even after rebooting I've done some googling and used this as a bit of guide. In the past I've used MAMP and then just a local Apache/PHP/MySQL install with a manually managed hosts file. I'd rather not go back.

• Mac Mini's internet very slow, every other device fine (PC, iPhone, Xbox 360)

  I recently haven't used my Mac Mini for about 5 days (however it was left on). I seem to be able to connect and get great download / upload speeds through my PC, Xbox 360, iPhone and parents' laptop. However, my Mac Mini is very slow. OS X's Mail.app is downloading mail at 0.4kbps and then dropping to 0. Skype file transfers are doing the same. Browsing the net is a terrible experience. It is taking 30 seconds or more to download basic pages. All of my devices connect wirelessly to a Netgear router / modem. I have tried giving the Mac Mini a manual IP, and renew DHCP lease, as well as flush DNS in Terminal. I have also rebooted the router / modem twice, and the Mac Mini twice. Do you know what could be causing this? Thanks Update This is very weird. It is also very slow accessing localhost (setup through MAMP) and also slow to access the Netgear router config pages.

My code in the lobster project is PHP with the CodeIgniter framework. Trying to load http://lobster.dev:81/ gives me: 400 Bad Request Normally, I'd go check my logs to see what caused it, yet my logs are empty! I looked in both /private/var/log/apache2/error_log and /private/var/log/apache2/lobster_error, and neither records ANY message relating to the 400. I have LogLevel set to debug in /private/etc/apache2/http.conf. Removing the rewrite rules gets rid of the error, but these same rules work on my MAMP host. I've double-checked and rewrite_module is loaded in my default Apache installation. My http.conf can be found here: https://gist.github.com/1057091 What gives? Let me know if you need any additional info. NOTE: I do NOT want to add the rewrite rules to .htaccess in the project directory (it's checked into a git repo and I don't want to touch it).

Here are a few points to check: In config.inc.php, try to leave the $cfg['PmaAbsoluteUri'] directive empty. See also FAQ 4.7. Maybe you have a broken PHP installation or you need to upgrade your Zend Optimizer. See http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=31134. If you are using Hardened PHP with the ini directive varfilter.max_request_variables set to the default (200) or another low value, you could get this error if your table has a high number of columns. Adjust this setting accordingly. (Thanks to Klaus Dorninger for the hint). In the php.ini directive arg_separator.input, a value of ";" will cause this error. Replace it with "&;". If you are using Hardened-PHP, you might want to increase request limits. The directory specified in the php.ini directive session.save_path does not exist or is read-only. I did tried with php.ini to make sure that I've session.save_path = "/tmp" I'm using Mac Xserver and running with MAMP I did tried everything to restart my server and nothing help. • Problems with bash script, mysql inserts and launchd

  ========= I am developing a automated system, which consists of 3 parts: mysql, bash and launchd. Bash script takes folders of work related stuff, zips, archives and puts info about them into database that is located on a local MAMP server. Everything works as expected when I run the script from terminal. But when I use Launchd to automatically run this script, it functions without errors and it does not put the values into database. I've tried to make logs of returned messages, but the logs end up being empty as the command has run the way it was supposed to. • WAMP running extremely slow on WIndows 7

  After 2 days of tough fight trying to figure out what the problem is with my Windows 7 32-bit machine at work i have nearly given up. The issue is that the pages are loaded extremely slow, the performance is both when accessed locally (127.0.0.1) or from another computer in the intranet. First to explain the system: WAMP version: Apache 2.2.22 – Mysql 5.5.24 – PHP 5.4.3 XDebug 2.1.2 XDC 1.5 PhpMyadmin 3.4.10.1 SQLBuddy 1.3.3 webGrind 1.0 DocumentRoot: Located on network drive MySQL: InnoDB Pages: PHP, MySQL, AJAX etc. So basically the changes i have made in order to get a greater performance: Changed C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts: 127.0.0.1 localhost 127.0.0.1 127.0.0.1 Modified my.ini: innodb_flush_log_at_trx_commit = 2 Modified httpd.ini: EnableMMAP on EnableSendfile on Modified php.ini: realpath_cache_size= 4m How i measure the performance is the overall loadtime of the page. I run it locally on my Mac OS X machine aswell (MAMP), and typically the frontpage loadtime is 0.06seconds but on the Windows 7 machine it is 6-10seconds. I have verified the loadtime with developertools in Chrome aswell. Furthermore the result is identical in XAMPP.

• Eclipse Helios - Not Stopping at Breakpoints (Help!)

  Dear Eclipse Expert, I recently upgraded from Eclipse Galileo to Helios. Helios stops at breakpoints ONLY when debugging "as a PHP Script", but not when debugging "as a Web Page". When debugging as a web page, it looks like the correct debug query string to start a debug session is getting tacked on to the url, like so: http://localhost/hello.php?XDEBUG_SESSION_START=ECLIPSE_DBGP &KEY=129798139020511 but elipse does not stop at the breakpoints. It just zooms thru the code and displays the output in the browser. A Database Error Occurred Error Number: 1054 Unknown column 'sceclub_exclaim2007.EU.admins_id' in 'on clause' SELECT EL.log_actions, EL.log_date, EL.log_value, EL.log_type, EA.admins_name, EU.users_name, EU.users_matric FROM events_log EL JOIN events_users EU USING (users_id) JOIN events_admins EA USING (admins_id) ORDER BY EL.log_id DESC LIMIT 0, 20 This is based on CodeIgniter 1.7.2 and both production and development are running the same set of database. • Trying to save file from Flash to PHP using $GLOBALS["HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA"]

  Let me start by saying PHP isn't my forte, I'm usually reluctant to try working with it because of problems exactly like this. The code works fine on my local machine under MAMP and on my server, but doesn't on the clients server :'( So what am I trying to do, well - save an image from Flash onto the server, simple right?! I'm using the method described on this site here: http://designreviver.com/tutorials/actionscript-3-jpeg-encoder-revealed-saving-images-from-flash/ but have made a small alteration so that instead of echoing the jpg causing the browser to download it locally, I do an fwrite and an fclose to save it to the server. Here is my PHP: $imageFile = '../images/' . $_GET['name']; $imageHandle = fopen($imageFile, "w"); fwrite($imageHandle, $jpg); fclose($imageHandle); } ? I've dona a phpinfo() on my clients server and it's running 5.2.2 my host is running 5.2.11 I don't know if much can have changed in those 9 minor revisions? I've also read another question on here which suggests making suer always_populate_raw_post_data is set to ON, but it's set to OFF on all of the server environments I've been testing in. I'm doing some XML saving using file_get_contents('php://input') which I've tried but failed to get working with images. Any help would be gratefully received, I'm happy to post the AS3 as well but it's EXACTLY the same as example I've linked above and works locally. As far as I can tell the problem lies with the PHP. • Apache local configuration to resolve files correctly

  Hello, I am new at this so bare with me. I have just configured Apache and PHP to work on my local Mac OS X computer. Now PHP works fine, except when I try to load the files for my live sites. The live sites have separate directories and are sorted by client name etc. I've created symlinks in the default root for the local web server documents. My issue is that Apache doesn't seem to want to load any of the relative paths that are found in the HTML pages. For example, I have src="/css/main.css" but Apache doesn't load the file, similarly for images, it just resolves as a file not found 404 error. I then thought it might be the symlinks so I copied the full directory into the Apache document root, and still had the same result. I would really love to setup my local development environment to run Apache, PHP, MySQL to develop locally then publish when ready. I also tried the MAMP installation, and had the same issues. Any help at all in this would be greatly appreciated. If my explanation wasn't clear please let me know. Thanks! Alex.

• How can I open VLC via browser with PHP (Mac OS X)

  I'm trying to open VLC via browser and make it instantly play the given video file on Mac OS X. This runs on my local server and is only meant to run locally - therefore I already run apache (MAMP) with my username and with group "staff" (defined in httpd.conf). YES - I do know that VLC has http interface - however that is not what I need, so do not suggest that... My current system works without any problems when I run it via Terminal: php /var/www/Movies/index.php - This leads to VLC opening and video starts playing fullscreen like intented. Problems start when I run the same PHP-page with browser. Then the VLC-process starts, but there's no GUI for it, video file won't start playing and the VLC-process takes nearly 100% of CPU. Both; terminal and browser started VLC-processes run with the same user (mine) Both have "Parent process" bash VLC-process begun with Terminal has empty "Process group" (only process id-number) and browser started has "httpd" + (id-number) VLC-process started via browser makes 1000-times more "Mach System Calls" than it's Terminal-started counterpart. • What is your preferred tool stack for PHP development in the Windows Environment?

  I have been developing basic web sites for awhile now with some PHP thrown in for getting dynamic stuff done. However, I recently decided that it was time I got my hands a little dirtier so I wanted to start to play with the underpinnings of Wordpress and other such apps. I work on a Mac at home and have been using Coda for most of my editing needs and I love it. Also, to manage the services stack I use MAMP at home. However, I've begun to realize that for heavy PHP and Web work (AJAX, etc.), more is needed. I'm very interested to hear the kinds of tools more experienced web developers use on a day to day basis to manage the entire work flow. I found this article over on developer tutorials and decided to go with XAMPP (for the moment) for managing the services. However, IDE, Source Control, Debugger, etc. are all up for grabs. Anyway, your thoughts are much appreciated. And, if at all possible, try to describe your entire stack with what each tool fulfills for your development process.

• How to run R through PHP with exec?

  I am going to ask something, that I know that it has been asked already some times. But since, all of the past posts are quite old and none of them answer my problem..I try again. I am completely new in R language and relative new in php. What I want to do is to use the exec() function from php in order to execute a R script. Most of the people here will start talking about rapache, rserve and I don't know what else..but since I am not familiar with all these technologies, I prefer just using exec. The code I will show here is working just fine when I run it with Rscript from the terminal. # R script png("temp.png") plot(5,5) dev.off() But when I try to run it either with Rscript or with R CMD BATCH from PHP, like this: echo exec("Rscript my_rscript.R"); //OR //echo exec("R CMD BATCH my_rscript.R"); I get nothing back. I have checked if exec() function is available and if it works. Everything is ok with this. I read also, that I might have to change the permissions of the webserver...but I don't know how to do this in mamp. I hope I am clear with my problem and someone can help. Thanks Dimitris

• joomla! migration

  I have a Joomla! installation on a remote site and I want to run it locally. I'm running Joomla! locally on a Mac through a standard MAMP installation: Joomla 1.5.12 PHP 5.2.6 MySQL 5.0.41 Apache 2.0.59 OS X 10.5.8 I've added a configuration file to the local Joomla! directory with all the correct local settings, database name, database user-name, database password etc. etc. I've tried a lot of different settings. I've also recreated the remote database locally, ensuring everything copied correctly. I followed a few different sets of instructions with roughly the same steps on how to do the migration. All of the above has not worked for me; at best I get bits of text from the site rendered in the browser. Other times I get SQL errors. What I want is for an already set up remote Joomla! installation to run on my own local machine. Does anyone have any advice as to how to get this working, it'd be very much appreciated? Thanks.
