  • Mike Cohn-style burndown charts in JIRA

    We use Jira/Greenhopper for our project planning/tracking. The built-in graphs are great, but when a new issue/story is added during a project, the whole burn-down graph moves up rather than increasing the part of the graph when the issue was added. Ideally I'd like to generate a Mike Cohn-style burndown graph, which shows a hump when new issues are added. Does anyone know of any plugins that support this, or been able to extract this data directly from the database?

There are two lists, one list just has one column and the other has two columns, and what I am trying to do is when column A matches column C than take the value in column D and use that to replace column A.     I know the standard way of using the Null coalescing operator in C# is to set default values. string nobody = null; string somebody = "Bob Saget"; string anybody = ""; anybody = nobody ?? "Mr. T"; // returns Mr. T anybody = somebody ?? "Mr. T"; // returns "Bob Saget" But what else can ?? be used for? It doesn't seem as useful as the ternary operator, apart from being more concise and easier to read than: nobody = null; anybody = nobody == null ? "Bob Saget" : nobody; // returns Bob Saget So given that fewer even know about null coalescing operator... Have you used ?? for something else? Is ?? necessary, or should you just use the ternary operator (that most are familiar with)

  • MapReduce results seem limited to 100?

    I'm playing around with Map Reduce in MongoDB and python and I've run into a strange limitation. I'm just trying to count the number of "book" records. It works when there are less than 100 records but when it goes over 100 records the count resets for some reason. Here is my MR code and some sample outputs: var M = function () { book = this.book; emit(book, {count : 1}); } var R = function (key, values) { var sum = 0; values.forEach(function(x) { sum += 1; }); var result = { count : sum }; return result; } MR output when record count is 99: {u'_id': u'superiors', u'value': {u'count': 99}} MR output when record count is 101: {u'_id': u'superiors', u'value': {u'count': 2.0}} Any ideas?

As much as altruism is appreciable, I wonder whether it "counts" as an activity which can be shown and is valued in job applications. If the company is worth your time and working power, which it should be in my honest opinion. So I wonder whether there is something like a common practice in open source projects for this matters.   • Black screen and blinking cursor for a while during Startup

    I've installed the Ubuntu 12.04.1 "rock solid" release. Everything works fine apart from the fact that during start-up the usual purple screen and Ubuntu logo doesn't appear. Only a black screen and blinking cursor is visible. Then after a while, for a fraction of a second, the Ubuntu logo and purple screen comes and disappears to the login page. I tried Plymouth but it didn't help in solving the problem. It did end up changing the logo to a more artistic one. Can any one please help? Ubuntu is installed on my ASUS 1225c netbook.

  • Unable to get screen signal after purge FGLRX

    I thought that my ATI driver was not running well so I wanted to re-instal it completely. I did: sudo apt-get remove --purge fglrx* sudo apt-get remove --purge xserver-xorg-video-ati xserver-xorg-video-radeon and after a boot I wanted to intal the ATI driver BUT at the boot no more signal to my screen. Since, every time I turn on my PC it gets to purple screen and then screen shuts down ! Note that: Even if the screen is off, PC seems to be running almost well: I m still able to use my network to access data shared with NFS. Using live USB I have no screen problem. I tried to plug my screen on an alternative output but it did not work. I tried CTRL+ALT+F1 while being on purple screen but it does not do anything, screen shut down anyway. I m going to try the SHIFT thing and learn from blackscreen wiki...

  • CRT as 2nd monitor goes screwy after start up?

    new install of 12.04 on an old dell with a radeon ATI RV516 video card with monitor out and s-video out. During boot up all is good. Both screens operate and look fine. Then just before the desktop appears the cCRT goes purple and is covered in heavy horizontal lines, but as i said during boot up it was fine and the resolution was fine. The main monitor, an lcd, operates normally. everything else works fine, it's just the picture on the CRT that is screwed up.   • Ubuntu boots to black screen after failed upgrade from 12.04 to 12.10

    This happened when I tried to upgrade from 12.04 to 12.10. I don't know whether the upgrade process had completed downloading and installing packages or whether it was still in progress, but I got a message The application Compiz has closed unexpectedly. At that point, my mouse stopped working so I switched to tty1 by Ctrl+Alt+F1 and rebooted from there. I then found that I could not boot into Ubuntu any more. My screen stayed first purple then black. I went back to tty1 and it said I was running 12.10. I tried some suggestions in this thread on Ubuntuforums: Wubi blank purple screen than blank black screen and this one: How to set NOMODESET and other kernel boot options in grub2 but nothing seemed to work. I can boot Windows as normal. I am using Wubi on Windows7. My laptop is a Lenovo T410i with NVIDA NVS 3100m

    This post will be a part of Visual Studio 2012 series. Before some days Microsoft has released the release candidate version of Visual Studio 2012. Today I got installed Visual Studio 2012 and once I loaded the visual studio 2012 first things I noticed that there is purple color blank strip is there at bottom. After doing some R and D on internet I have found that it is used for the different indication. The purple color indicates that there is no project loaded now. Once you open the project this line will be of blue color like below. Once you run and F5 and debug it, the color will change to orange like below . Isn’t that great?   • Can't start ubuntu 11.10, Stops at login screen!

    I have been trying to dual boot ubuntu with windows 7 via WUBI on my custom built pc but without success. When i start the computer i can choose windows or ubuntu i choose ubuntu and when i should get to the login screen the screen just stays purple/pink. Tried safe mode but cant get in there either. I have tried reinstall but did not work either. :( The second time i install ubuntu the screen was purple/pink and the screen was cut of so the left side was on the right side and right side on left side (hard to describe) Third time installing (The last time) it is just like the first time please help!!!! cant get nowhere without help i am kinda new at ubuntu and its creepy commands. Had ubuntu on my old computer. I think the problem is my hardware so here is my computer specs: Amd Fx 6100 Amd HIS Radeon HD 6950 ICEQ X Asus Sabertooth 990fx 1TB Harddrive I have no idea the name on it Please Help me!!     Purchased a new msi ge 70 series labtop. nvidia card gtx 765m. updated driver after install, and ran update manager. All seems well. restarted as required. Now i have a solid purple screen, even if i use boot menu to recovery mode. all i can do is access grub menu 3.10. live cd will run but i get purple screen and cant see choices. please help and im still learning ubuntu. noob talk prefered. i hate making more mistakes. Thanks also tryed changing lines of kernal code using "e" on boot menu, nomodeset and the like. not helping. any way to fix problem through grub?

    I have an ASROCK which uses Intel G31 graphics. Ubuntu says my graphics chipset is G33. Should I look for another driver or are they from the same family? I am also having problems booting and that purple screen stuck so for this I asked this question. I have partially fixed the purple screen stuck by enabling (uncommenting) this line in grub: GRUB_TERMINAL=console But Ubuntu still hangs at start up for about 15 minutes with a black screen and only the '_' prompt.     Hello I have an application which uses a servlet to read an intialization parameter from web.xml for the location of a property file. The serlvet then creates an instance of a class which stores the location of the file for other programs to read as required. This class has appropriate get and set methods. But my question concerns access to the properties: should the physical property file be read by each program as at runtime or should the properties be stored in memory instead? The properties are not currently altered at runtime but this could change? I've seen various alternative approaches but am not sure which is best. Thanks Mr Morgan

    Hello Does anyone know a better way of getting the number of rows in a Java resultset returned from a MySQL database? I'm currently using this: public static int getResultSetRowCount(ResultSet resultSet) { int size = 0; try { resultSet.last(); size = resultSet.getRow(); resultSet.beforeFirst(); } catch(Exception ex) { return 0; } return size; } But am open to alternatives. The resultset returned is not going to be the total number of rows read from the database so I don;t think I can use SQL COUNT. Thanks Mr Morgan.

    Hello I'm new to JPA and using persistence in Java anyway and I have two questions I can't quite work out: I have generated tags as: @JoinColumn(name = "UserName", referencedColumnName = "UserName") @ManyToOne(optional = false) private User userName; @JoinColumn(name = "DatasetNo", referencedColumnName = "DatasetNo") @ManyToOne(optional = false) private Dataset datasetNo; But in one of the constructors for the class, no reference is made to columns UserName or DatasetNo whereas all other columns in the class are referenced in the constructor. Can anyone tell me why this is? Both columns UserName and DatasetNo are 'foreign keys' on the entity Visualisation which corresponds to a database table of the same name. I can't quite work out the ORM. And when using entity classes, or POJO, is it better to have class variables like: private User userName; Where an instance of a class is specified or simply the key of that class instance like: private String userName; Thanks Mr Morgan.

  • Filter Calendar view SharePoint WWS 3.0

    Hi all, I have a SP site with a calendarview and would like to filter this on the basis of the current user. Don't be afraid I already figured out how do to this with a list customizing some excisting jScripts and working with Content Editor WebPart. Yet this jScript does not work in a Calendar. To paint a picture I have columns like: Judge1 Lawyer Clerk (example). Underneath these columns there are names ofcourse. However these are not shown in Calendar view, so it is hard to filter on something that is not displayed only the casenumbers. Now I've been thinking (not always wise) perhaps I can adjust the aspx page of calendar/list by adjusting a filter I applied in SharePoint. This would also solve the issue of displaying all the content before it filters with Java, since it should not be possible for users to see the entire listcontent (security). I went to Modify list view and created a filter where judge1 = Mr. J. Jenkins. Then I went to SharePoint Designer and opend the Calendar aspx page. To my expectation I found Mr. J. Jenkins with the following code: Since I can't display image because i'm new, not very handy discrimination I have to give you a url. Code can't be pasted either is completely messes it up even with codemode on. Hyperlink CODE IMAGE Keep in mind I just posted a very tiny part of the code (only the part I want to change). Now I have no idea what kind of code this is above this text (SP wss 3.0 uses for aspx pages), but I would like to change Mr. J. Jenkins into a jScript var/val. Since I already managed to get the current user that is logged in content. var user = jP.getUserProfile(); var userinfspvalue = user.Department; There is more code around that one 2 ofcourse, yet to give you a picture. The var userinfspvalue is what I would like to replace the text Mr. J. Jenkins into. This would mean the calendar would be dynamically filtered based upon the current user that is logged on.
