If so, how?

  • Using Tcl DSL in Python

    I have a bunch of Python functions. Let's call them foo, bar and baz. They accept variable number of string arguments and does other sophisticated things (like accessing the network). I want the "user" (let's assume he is only familiar with Tcl) to write scripts in Tcl using those functions. Is this possible to do in Python? If so, how? from Tkinter import *; root= Tk(); root.tk.eval('puts [array get tcl_platform]') is the only integration I know of, which is obviously very limited (not to mention the fact that it starts up X11 server on mac).

  • Compiling scipy on Windows 32-bit

    Has anyone tried compiling SciPy on Windows using numpy-1.3.0 that was built with the pre-built ATLAS libraries (atlas3.6.0_WinNT_P4SSE2.zip) linked in the installation document.   • Image Steganography

    Hi, I'm working on Steganography application. I need to hide a message inside an image file and secure it with a password, with not much difference in the file size. I am using Least Significant Bit algorithm and could do it successfully with BMP files but it does not work with JPEG, PNG or TIFF files. Does this algorithm work with these files at all? Is there a better way to achieve this? Thanks.

    Hi, I have a raw YUYV422 buffer with 8-bit 4:2:2 Component Y’CbCr format (Y0, Cb, Y1, Cr order). I know that ffmpeg's PIX_FMT_YUYV422 only handle 16-bit buffers.So I am getting Bad memory error when scaling that buffer into YUV420P. Can any one give me a clue, how can I use this buffer with ffmpeg to covert into YUV420. Thanks, Raghu

    The advantage of writing a Makefile is that "make" is generally assumed to be present on the various Unices (Linux and Mac primarily). Now I have the following Makefile: PYTHON := python all: e installdeps e: virtualenv --distribute --python=${PYTHON} e installdeps: e/bin/python setup.py develop clean: rm -rf e As you can see this Makefile uses simple targets and variable substitution. Can this be achieved on Windows? By that mean - without having to install external tools (like cygwin make); perhaps make.cmd? Typing "make installdeps" for instance, should work both on Unix and Windows.

  • Reasonably faster way to traverse a directory tree in Python?

    Assuming that the given directory tree is of reasonable size: say an open source project like Twisted or Python, what is the fastest way to traverse and iterate over the absolute path of all files/directories inside that directory? I want to do this from within Python (subprocess is allowed). os.path.walk is slow. So I tried ls -lR and tree -fi. For a project with about 8337 files (including tmp, pyc, test, .svn files): $ time tree -fi > /dev/null real 0m0.170s user 0m0.044s sys 0m0.123s $ time ls -lR > /dev/null real 0m0.292s user 0m0.138s sys 0m0.152s $ time find . > /dev/null real 0m0.074s user 0m0.017s sys 0m0.056s $ tree appears to be faster than ls -lR (though ls -R is faster than tree, but it does not give full paths). find is the fastest. Can anyone think of a faster and/or better approach? On Windows, I may simply ship a 32-bit binary tree.exe or ls.exe if necessary. Update 1: Added find

I've written the following query, but I'm wondering if there is any better way to do this? When I looked at the response in the firebug it says the content-type is html.   • Should I host my site on my own hardware for streaming media site?

    Hi, We are developing a new movie review site, more or less similar to RottenTomatoes. Now since there will be a lot of streaming of movie trailers and we are expecting medium traffic, do you think 3rd party web hosting will cost a lot? Should we rather go for our own hardware server software? We expect around 10GB of streaming to happen per month from 2 - 6 months of web site launch. Less before and more after that period.     I used, for(id value in values) to get the value from an NSArray. Now I want to store it in 2 dimensional float array[][]. When I try to assign the values to array it is giving error:incompatible types in assignment. I tried to cast the value but I got error: pointer value used where a floating point value was expected. I need to store the values in an 2 dimensional array . How can I make it ?
