• LIghtspark Playback Crashes [on hold]

  My introduction is for my personal health: I hate Flash and then HTMLs finally wil be the only standard around =)(/)$§%&$%$ I installed Lightspark from a repository. Butt no video playback in FF oder Chromium. In FF I usually get one of the following messages within the black playback box (I can't copy it) Cause: Unhandled action script exception Cause: args[0]&&args[0]->getClass && args[0]->getClass(isSubClass) Can't read more since the error message is bigger than the playback frame. I am currently reading a book named "3D Graphics with XNA Game Studio 4.0" by Sean James and have some questions to ask : If i create a effect parameter named lets say SpecularPower and have in my effect a variable named SpecularPower , if i do something like effect.Parameters["SpecularPower"].SetValue(3) That wil change the SpecularPower variable in my effect ? And a second question, not regarding the book : If i have a spaceship and i've created a "boost" functionality that speeds up my spaceship, what effects should i implement to create the impresion oh high speed ? • ETPS/" Elantech Touchpad fails detecting single finger

  I have a new laptop with an "ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad". A single finger is only detected, if it is held in such a way that a big area touches the pad. If one touches the pad only with the fingertip, it wil not be detected, both for clicking and for moving the pointer. Strangley, two-finger gestures are detected even if the pad is only touched with the fingertips. On ubuntuusers.de I found that Elantech touchpads require to reload the psmouse-module by: sudo modprobe -r psmouse sudo modprobe psmouse proto=imps If I do this, one finger finally gets detected as it should, but all two or more finger gestures stop working. Also grep -B 5 mouse /proc/bus/input/devices tells that the touchpad now is identified as a mouse, while before the changes it was identified correctly as ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad.

• OpenGL ES 2.0: Mixing 2D with 3D

  Is it possible to mix 2D and 3D graphics in a single OpenGL ES 2.0 game, please? I have plenty of 2D graphics in my game. The 2D graphics is represented by two triangular polygons (making up a rectangle) with texture on them. I use orthographic matrix to render the whole scene. However, I need to add some 3D effects into my game. Threfore, I wish to use perspective camera to render the meshes. Is it possible to mix orthographic and perspective camera in one scene? If yes, is there going to be a large performance cost for this? Is there any recommended approach to do this effectively? I wil have 90% of 2D graphics and only 10% of 3D. Target platform is OpenGL ES 2.0 (iOS, Android). I use C++ to develop. Thank you.

• Common light map practices

  My scene consists of individual meshes. At the moment each mesh has its associated light map texture, I was able to implement the light mapping using these many small textures. 1) Of course, I want to create an atlas, but how do you split atlases to pages, I mean do you group the lm's of objects that are close to each other, and load light maps on the fly if scene is expected to be big. 2) the 3d authoring software provides automatic uv coordinates for each mesh in the scene, but there are empty areas in the texel space, so if I scale the texture polygons the texel density of each face wil not match other meshes, if I create atlas like that there will be varying lm resolution, how do you solve this, just leave it as it is, or ignore resolution ? Actually these questions also applies to other non tiled maps.

• Does SharpSVN have an API to manage repository permissions

  Does anyone know if there is any API exposed to manage repository permissions within SharpSVN? For example, programatically adding read and write permissions on a per repository basis. Alternatively, any other thoughts on managing permissions with other SVN APIs? Worst case wil be manually managing the contents of svnaccessfile but this is a last resort. Thanks.

• How does ruby's rb_raise stop the execution of the c function calling it?

  If you write a ruby method as a function in C that uses rb_raise, the part of the function after the call will not get excecuted and the program will stop and you will think that rb_raise used exit(). But if you rescue the exception in ruby, like: begin method_that_raises_an_exception rescue end puts 'You wil still get here.' The ruby code will go on, but your function will stop excecuting. How does rb_raise make this happen?

• Compact Framework targeting

  If a smart device project is set to target CF 2.0, Windows CE 5.0, should this same application run on Windows Mobile 6 with CF 3.5 installed? I was able to install it (the CF 2 app), but when running received an error stating that the assemblies could not be loaded and that CF might not be installed. This has led me to belive that smart device projects wil ONLY work on the framework they target, not any versions lower or greater. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  so the problem is, i have a contenteditable div, with a keyup function binded. everytime somebody puts a youtube url in it, it has to be replaced by an embedded movie. i came up with a regex like this : content.match(/http:\/\/\w{0,3}.?youtube+\.\w{2,3}\/watch\?v=.*?(?=\s)/g); firefox wil do the replace after a whitespace, but in ie it won't work. any suggestions? thnx in advance!

  my server down random every day 4-5 time cause get high load very quick.. I have install csf and with some config server now stable.. load around 5. BUT the big isuse is : the real user very hard to access website specially from IE browser you can test at xaluan.com the flowing is config using in csf: SYNFLOOD = "1" SYNFLOOD_RATE = "100/s" SYNFLOOD_BURST = "10" CONNLIMIT = "80;30" PORTFLOOD = "80;tcp;70;5" CT_LIMIT = "29" # other config may same as default i playing around with this config for a week but still not work around.. If increase the rate SYNFLOOD_RATE = "140/s" or more.. the website response very fast.. be side have bad effect of server load increase so fast normal 20 and may be up to few hundred in peck time .. my need is response time fast but load still low.. please help thanks ps: server runing nginx frontend, apache, mysql, php ,, the home page has around 70 elements which will cached in browser in fist time access..

• Tweaking log4net Settings Programmatically

  A few months ago, I had to dynamically add a log4net appender at runtime.  Now I find myself in another log4net situation.  I need to modify the configuration of my appenders at runtime. My client requires all files generated by our applications to be saved to a specific location.  This location is determined at runtime.  Therefore, I want my FileAppenders to log their data to this specific location – but I won't know the location until runtime so I can't add it to the XML configuration file I'm using. No problem.  Bing is my new friend and returned a couple of hits.  I made a few tweaks to their LINQ queries and created a generic extension method for ILoggerRepository (just a hunch that I might want this functionality somewhere else in the future – sorry YAGNI fans): public static void ModifyAppenders<T>(this ILoggerRepository repository, Action<T> modify) where T:log4net.Appender.AppenderSkeleton { var appenders = from appender in log4net.LogManager.GetRepository().GetAppenders() where appender is T select appender as T;   foreach (var appender in appenders) { modify(appender); appender.ActivateOptions(); } } Now I can easily add the proper directory prefix to all of my FileAppenders at runtime: log4net.LogManager.GetRepository().ModifyAppenders<FileAppender>(a => { a.File = Path.Combine(settings.ConfigDirectory, Path.GetFileName(a.File)); }); Thanks beefycode and Wil Peck. • Problems in "Save as PDF" plugin with Arabic numbers

  I use the "Save as PDF" plugin with Word 2007 to generate a PDF document from a DOCX document. It works great except that the Arabic numbers in the Word file have been converted to English numbers in the PDF document. Kindly find two links containing two screen shots explaining the problem. The first image is the generated PDF file with the English numbers highlighted. The second image is the original word file with the Arabic numbers highlighted. Update: Thanks very much Isaac, ChrisF and Wil. I changed the Numeral at word to Context and confirmed that all the numbers are Arabic at the Word file. I still have the problem as the PDF file still have English numbers. (Note: The Arabic numbers called Hindi numbers). I also tried changing the font to Tahoma with no hope.
