    I've done some initial googling.. and found AMD's A10 6800K supports virtualization via AMD-V. I'd like to install ESXI 5.5 on a USB thumbdrive to drive two+ VM's running Lubuntu. Has anyone seen the AMD A10 APU line used for baremetal hosting? AMD A10 APU 6800K 8GB DDR3 non ECC RAM 350GB HDD old spin drive (Sata I?III? unknown) I want to get started but afraid I'll wipe my current linux instance if it goes bad.

  • import svn history

    I had to wipe our svn server, but I failed to "dump" the repositories before installing a new OS. However, I had a complete backup of every file in each repository. I've since transferred all the old files back over. Unfortunately the version history is completely gone. I still have all the old incremental files, and svn can see each revision with the "verify" command, but I'm wondering if it is possible to import the old history directly from the actual files (not a dump file)?

Windows 7 reports there are no *.DS_Store files in a folder, even though I can see it with the Show hidden files and folders option turned on.   • Adding Windows XP on a macbook pro running MacOS and Ubuntu

    My Macbook Pro already dual boots MacOSX or Ubuntu with ReFit. I would like to add Windows 7 in the mix. I can make enough space in the Mac partition to accomodate that, but just want to be sure the Windows installation is not going to wipe out anything and I will still be able to access both OS. Anything else to watch out for is welcome. (Sorry for not posting a question about an actual problem, but I figured that when I have a problem, it will just be too late).

  • Help installing fedora13 from DvD?

    I have windows xp on my dell but I lost the drivers disk so I want to install linux Fedora 13 instead and wipe the windows xp. I burned the iso to a dvd and loaded up the live session user and used "Install to harddrive" but when I get to the partitioning window there is no harddrives to install to so I cant overwrite the windows drive (/C:).. Help?

  • force unzip to also delete any missing files

    Currently when I unzip into a directory with pre-existing files, I sometimes unzip an archive to update the files, using -f or -u or -o to overwrite any clashes. However I would like the unzip process to also delete any files which were not part of the archive, so that the unzipped version fully matches what was in the zipped archive. (Why not just replace the directory then with a fresh unzip? Because I still want to preserve .svn files, just wipe everything else)

  • Fixing Master Boot Record From Linux After Windows Corrupts It

    I bought a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop, and setup Ubuntu 10.04 to dual boot alongside Windows 7. Regrettably, when activating the wireless, I did something in Windows 7 that caused it to overwrite or corrupt the master boot record, so now when I reboot I get the message "No bootable devices found". Is there an easy way to fix this, perhaps via a Linux LiveCD, or do I have to wipe out everything and reinstall?

    I have made a mess of my Dreamhost slice and want to know if there's a way to clean install/fresh install/wipe everything and start over? Is there a shell script to do this or would I have to do it through the Dreamhost admin panel or even contact Dreamhost to get them to do it for me?   • Can I back-up to partition to restore my computer to factory settings?

    I have a VAIO model VPC-F11JFX/B. I want to restore it to factory settings (instead of formatting it so I can keep the programs it comes with like VAIO Care). I have like 20 GB of data so I can't copy it into my flash drive and it would take up like 7 of my CD's so I can't do that either. So can I make a new partition (called D) and move the files to D from C. Because I don't know if restoring to factory settings is going to wipe the entire drive or just the partition.

Anyhow Dell was not being any help to me on wiping the data. Does anyone know how I get the machine to restore Windows to the factory settings. Also I do not have the system disc that come with the computer, I just have the computer and the power cord.
