  I've been digging around the NHibernate sources a little, trying to understand how NHibernate implements removing child elements from a collection. I think I've already found the answer, but I'd ideally like this to be confirmed by someone familiar with the matter. So far I've found AbstractPersistentCollection (base class for all collection proxies) has a static helper method called GetOrphans to find orphans by comparing the current collection with a snapshot. The existence of this method suggests NHibernate tries to find all oprhaned elements and then deletes them by key. Is this correct, in terms of the generated SQL?

  Moles is an isolation framework created by Microsoft. A cool feature of Moles is that it can "mock" static/non-virtual methods and sealed classes (which is not possible with frameworks like Moq). Below is the quick demonstration of what Moles can do: Assert.AreNotEqual(new DateTime(2012, 1, 1), DateTime.Now); // MDateTime is part of Moles; the below will "override" DateTime.Now's behavior MDateTime.NowGet = () => new DateTime(2012, 1, 1); Assert.AreEqual(new DateTime(2012, 1, 1), DateTime.Now); Seems like Moles is able to modify the CIL body of things like DateTime.Now at runtime. Since Moles isn't open-source, I'm curious to know which mechanism Moles uses in order to modify methods' CIL at runtime. Can anyone shed any light?

• Decimal numbers works in iPhone simulator but NOT on iPhone device

  Hi everybody, I noticed a weird behaviour of iPhone OS when using decimal values. The simulator parse them from strings in a correct way but when I test the app on my iPhone it lose the decimal part.   I've created an C# class that contains 2 static method and I successfully created an Assembly in SQL 2005. When I try to create a table-valued function from that Assembly I get the following error: Msg 6509, Level 16, State 36, Procedure , Line 2 An error occurred while gathering metadata from assembly '' with HRESULT 0x80004005. We have other CLR functions that are that are with in the same dll and seem to work fine. I tried to emulate what the other functions are doing, but I can't seem to get this function to work. All the documentation online doesn't seem to help

• Is there a way to automatically make a makefile from a template toolkit template?

  My static web pages are built from a huge bunch of templates which are inter-included using Template Toolkit's "import" and "include", so page.html looks like this: [% INCLUDE top %] [% IMPORT middle %] Then top might have even more files included. I have very many of these files, and they have to be run through to create the web pages in various languages (English, French, etc., not computer languages). This is a very complicated process and when one file is updated I would like to be able to automatically remake only the necessary files, using a makefile or something similar. Are there any tools which can parse template toolkit templates and create a dependency list for use in a makefile? Or are there better ways to automate this process?

  Hello, I have not been able to find detailed documentation about the Microsoft Flight Simulator SDK, so I have a couple of questions regarding its capabilities. I am currently running FS2004(could buy FSX if needed) and would like to know if I could add moving or static boats through the SDK. Ideally, the boat's position would be controlled by an external program at runtime. Secondly, can i access the flight management system through the SDK? I would like to upload a custom flight path through an external program while the plane is flying. • Page Footer not showing in Crystal Report

  Hello, I am using Crystal Reports in Visual Studio 2008. I have about 5 pages worth of static text that needs to appear at the top of my report, so I put it in the report header section. I have a page footer section on the page that shows the page number. This does not show, and I suspect it has something to do with the long report header. How can I make the page footer show with a large report header? Edit: The Page Footer is actually appearing once on the last page. The Report Header takes up 5 pages and there isn't a page footer on any of those pages.

• Decoding a GIF question

  For a personal project I'm creating a static gif decoder. Everything works well so far, except I'm having trouble understanding one concept from the specification: This block is REQUIRED for an image. Exactly one Image Descriptor must be present per image in the Data Stream. An unlimited number of images may be present per Data Stream. (Spec) Unlimited images per data stream? There can be more than 1? I'm assuming they don't mean an animated GIF because in the same specification they state, that they don't recommend gif's be used for animation. I've read a lot of other sites documenting the gif format and they all state something similar. Heres another link: There might be an unlimited number of images present in a GIF. Any ideas?

And lastly, if I can find the ListViewItem and set it to be Selected, won't that fire my SelectionChanged event each time I set a ListViewItem to be Selected?

• Overriding classes/functions from a .dll.

  Say I have class A and class B. B inherits from class A, and implements a few virtual functions. The only problem is that B is defined in a .dll. Right now, I have a function that returns an instance of class A, but it retrieves that from a static function in the .dll that returns an instance of class B. My plan is to call the created object, and hopefully, have the functions in the .dll executed instead of the functions defined in class A. For some reason, I keep getting restricted memory access errors. Is there something I don't understand that will keep this plan from working?

  Running Visual Studio 2008 Professional it is possible to enable static code analysis using the /analyze flag (even though this is not supported for the Professional version according to the documentation). In Visual Studio 2010 Professional this no longer works. Instead there is a default /analyze- flag added (one I can't find a GUI setting for). This does not work as well as the VS2008 version (or at all). Can anyone shed some light into this? What does the new /analyze- flag do and is there any way to enable the old analysis?
