  • Escaping Problem in bash using isql

    Hi there, I am currently working on a little backup script from some firebird databases and I've come up with a weird escaping problem that I don't seem to be able to solve. Here's the thing in my script I create a variable called sqllog in which I would like to put the output of a chain of commands, here it is. sqllog=echo "SELECT * FROM RDB\$DATABASE;" | isql -u SYSDBA -pass mypasswd localhost:mydatabase | tail -n 2 | head -n 1 | wc -l if I try to execute this in shell I get the following error Statement failed, SQLCODE = -204 Dynamic SQL Error -SQL error code = -204 -Table unknown -RDB -At line 1, column 15. Table unknown RDB means it didn't take my try to escape the $. thx for any help :)

If I remove the echo the script does not work. Any suggestions?

  • How do I list all cron jobs for all users?

    Is there a command or an existing script that will let me view all of a *NIX system's scheduled cron jobs at once? I'd like it to include all of the user crontabs, as well as /etc/crontab, and whatever's in /etc/cron.d. It would also be nice to see the specific commands run by run-parts in /etc/crontab. Ideally, I'd like the output in a nice column form and ordered in some meaningful way. I could then merge these listings from multiple servers to view the overall "schedule of events." I was about to write such a script myself, but if someone's already gone to the trouble...

    I'm using the Colorbox module in Drupal 7. I'm opening an external website. I can make it work with a link. Click here, then click the "colorbox popup" link at the bottom, middle column. The client would like this to open automatically when the page opens.     I am testing my noscript tags which display content when javascript is disabled, this works in Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Camino, IE6, IE7, IE8, IE9, basically everything but Opera (I'm running version 11, not sure if its isolated to that version). In Opera 11 nothing is displayed... is the noscript tag not supported? and what is the alternative?     I'm working on a Python script that transforms this: foo bar Into this: [[Component foo]] [[bar]] The script checks (per input line) if the page "Component foo" exists. If it exists then a link to that page is created, if it doesn't exist then a direct link is created. The problem is that I need a quick & cheap way to check if a lot of wiki pages exist.I don't want to (try to) download all the 'Component' pages. I already figured out a fast way to do this by hand: Edit a new wiki page. paste all the 'component' links into the page, press preview, and then save the resulting preview HTML page. The resulting HTML file contains a different link for existing pages than for non-existing pages. So to rephrase my question: How can I save a mediawiki preview page in Python?

    I have an R script file that executes a second R script via: source("../scripts/second_file.R") That second file has the following lines: myfiles <- list.files(".",pattern = "*.csv") ... rm(myfiles) When I run the master R file I get: > source("../scripts/second_file.R") Error in file.remove(myfiles) : object 'myfiles' not found and the program aborts. I think this has something to do with the environment. I looked at ?rm() pages but less than illuminating. I figure I have to give it a position argument, but not sure which.

  • How might one detect the first run of a program?

    In my web application, users can download a .tar.gz archive containing the app files. However, because the MySQL database won't have been configured then, the user needs to run the install script located in ./install. I "catch" the user upon first run of the app by checking to see if the ./install directory exists. If so, the index.php page redirects the user to the install script. However, I was wondering if there were a more elegant way to "catch" a user upon first-run of a program. Someone on IRC suggested the web-server create a file .installed upon completion, but because the web server might not have write privileges to the web root directory, I can't rely on that. How would you go about solving this problem, or is my solution workable?

  • Should I use DATE and TIME as fields rather than DATETIME

    I have a project on going for a TV guide, called mytvguide in the database - I use PHPMyAdmin. This is the structure for one table, which is called tvshow1: Field Type channel varchar(255) date date No airdate time No expiration time No episode varchar(255) setreminder varchar(255) but am not sure how to get DATE, TIME to work with the pagination script (below is the script, which works for the version with DATETIME): http://pastebin.com/6S1ejAFJ However, although the DATETIME one works - it shows programmes that air on the day itself like this: Programme 1 showing on Channel 1 2:35pm "Episode 2" Set Reminder Programme 1 showing on Channel 1 May 26th - 12:50pm "Episode 3" Set Reminder Programme 1 showing on Channel 1 May 26th - 5:55pm "Episode 3" Set Reminder but I'm not quite sure how to replicate that for the fields that use DATE, TIME functions as seen above. Any advice on this is appreciated, thanks!

They give you javascript code that you embed in your pages (whichever event you wish to track) and voila..you're done. I have written a native application for Android phones, which is actually an adaptation of the actual web site. Now, I am required to setup Analytics and tracking for this native application. Question: How to do setup a native application for Analytics? We have Java Script code(not Google Analytics but for some other engine) that works for the original web site. Is there a way to incorporate that in the native application? I know Android supports Java Script via WebViews(Webkit);my application does not have webviews, it is native! I will have case where i'll have multiple Ojbect, so i want to display all of them, how to do that ? for (i=0;i < data.length;i++) Does it look right ? Bonus question : i understand function(data, textStatus, XMLHttpRequest) that in case of success this function is triggered, the data is what the script recieved from his request, but i have no idea what textStatus or XMLHttpRequest are here too and why ?! '<br>'; ?> Need some light here, ultimately I would like to create a web service to return json format and access that data from my iOS application using NSJSONSerialization class.
