  • How to determine the size (in bytes) of a file downloading using NSURLConnection?

    - by RexOnRoids
    I need to know the size of the file I am downloading (in bytes) into my app using NSURLConnection (GET). Here is my bytes recieved code below if it helps. What I need to know is how to get the filesize in bytes so that I can use it to show a UIProgressView. - (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)theConnection didReceiveData:(NSData *)data // A delegate method called by the NSURLConnection as data arrives. We just // write the data to the file. { #pragma unused(theConnection) NSInteger dataLength; const uint8_t * dataBytes; NSInteger bytesWritten; NSInteger bytesWrittenSoFar; assert(theConnection == self.connection); dataLength = [data length]; dataBytes = [data bytes]; bytesWrittenSoFar = 0; do { bytesWritten = [self.fileStream write:&dataBytes[bytesWrittenSoFar] maxLength:dataLength - bytesWrittenSoFar]; assert(bytesWritten != 0); if (bytesWritten == -1) { [self _stopReceiveWithStatus:@"File write error"]; break; } else { bytesWrittenSoFar += bytesWritten; } while (bytesWrittenSoFar != dataLength); }

  • Is it okay to programmatically create UITouch and UIEvent objects to emulate touch events?

    - by mystify
    I want to simulate some touches on my UI, without using private API. So one simple way to do it is to simply call those -touchesBegan:withEvent:, -touchesMoved:withEvent:, -touchesEnded:WithEvent: and -touchesCancelled:withEvent: methods inside my custom controls. For that, I would have to create UITouch and UIEvent dummy objects with appropriate data inside. Is this fine with them? Or would they reject my app?

  • Is ther anyone familiar with Erica Sadun's APIKit(app private api scanner)?

    - by user262325
    Hello everyone I'm trying to use APIKit to scan my codes to detect if there is private API. apiscanner should run as ./apiscanner ~/Desktop/MyPath/myapp.app I used command 'cd' go to the directory where apiscanner is. But if I call ./apiscanner ~/Desktop/MyPath/MyApp.app on terminal it reports Last login: Sun Jun 13 07:22:07 on ttys002 unknown required load command 0x80000022 Trace/BPT trap logout Even if I copy the files apiscanner and doit to MyPath, then execute, I get the same problem. I think there is something wrong when I run apiscanner under Mac OS X. Welcome any comment Thanks

    - by Mohammed Sadiq
    HI , I am getting a issue when trying to access the kABPersonInstantMessageProperty. The code is as follows : ABMultiValueRef IMS = ABRecordCopyValue(record, kABPersonInstantMessageProperty); CFRetain(IMS); if(IMS) { int IMSCount = ABMultiValueGetCount(IMS); MWLOG(5, @"**** IMS COunt **** : %d", IMSCount); for(int iIM =0; iIM < IMSCount; ++iIM) { MWLOG(5, @"index *** : %d", iIM); CFDictionaryRef dict = ABMultiValueCopyValueAtIndex(IMS, iIM); NSString* label = (NSString*)ABMultiValueCopyLabelAtIndex(IMS, iIM); NSString* service= (NSString*)CFDictionaryGetValue(dict, kABPersonInstantMessageServiceKey); NSString* username= (NSString*)CFDictionaryGetValue(dict, kABPersonInstantMessageUsernameKey); if(label) CFRelease(label); if(service) CFRelease(service); if(username) CFRelease(username); if(dict) CFRelease(dict); } CFRelease(IMS); } But I am getting the following error in console : 2010-03-13 12:39:16.731 mwp[1464:4f0b] * -[CFString retain]: message sent to deallocated instance 0x1582820 2010-03-13 12:49:12.219 mwp[1464:4f0b] * -[CFString _cfTypeID]: message sent to deallocated instance 0x15f0bf0 The stacktrace in the debugger is as follows : **#0 0x3026e017 in forwarding #1 0x3024a0a2 in __forwarding_prep_0___ *#2 0x30201368 in CFRetain * #3 0x325bdb6d in ABCCopyDictionaryWithTypes #4 0x325bdbe3 in ABCMultiDictionaryCreateCopy Is that the issue is with the api.   • pushViewController causes memory leak

    - by hookjd
    The Leaks application tells me that the following function is causing a memory leak and I can't figure out why. -(void)viewGameList { GameListController *gameListViewController = [[GameListController alloc] initWithNibName:@"GameListController" bundle:nil]; gameListViewController.rootController = self; [self.navigationController pushViewController:gameListViewController animated:YES]; [gameListViewController release]; } It tells me that this line causes a 128 byte memory leak. [self.navigationController pushViewController:gameListViewController animated:YES]; Am I missing something obvious?

  • UIModalTransitionStylePartialCurl not rotating

    - by Mongo
    I've got a modal view controller that is being displayed using UIModalPresentationFullScreen with the TransitionStyle set as UIModalTransitionStylePartialCurl. This works beautifully. My problem is that when the device is rotated, my view rotates (as intended), but the "curl" effect does not. Does anyone know if this is by design, or is there something else that needs to be done? Thanks.

  • Subview appears behind tableview

    - by Banjer
    When I add a subview to my UITableViewController, it seems to be underneath the tableview. I may be loading my subview incorrectly, or calling addSubview in the wrong place. The subview I'm referring to is the red area above the tabbar that also contains the "Click me" button: You can see that the cell lines kind of overlap. Here is where I'm adding the subview in my TableViewController: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; CGRect hRect = CGRectMake(0, 170, 320, 480); HomeScreenOverlayView *homeView = [[HomeScreenOverlayView alloc] initWithFrame:hRect]; [self.tableView addSubview:homeView]; [homeView release]; } Any ideas? Thanks!

  • MKMapView Not Loading When Called on an NSThread?

    - by Chris
    I am creating a MKMapView in a method named "generateMap". From inside viewDidLoad, this works: [self generateMap]; but this causes the map to quickly load and then disappear, leaving only the blank grey grid: [NSThread detachNewThreadSelector:@selector(spinTheSpinner) toTarget:self withObject:nil]; Any ideas why this might be happening when I call the method through a thread?

  • XCode newb -- #include can't find my file

    - by morgancodes
    I'm trying to get a third party audio library (STK) working inside XCode. Along with the standard .h files, many of the implimentation files include a file called SKINI.msg. SKINI.msg is in the same directory as all of the header files. The header files are getting included fine, but the compiler complains that it can't find SKINI.msg. What do I need to do to get XCode to happily include SKINI.msg?

  • Memory leak using NSMutableArray in RootViewController called from App Delegate

    - by Lauren Quantrell
    I've written code to restore the state of my app, but there's a memory leak in the NSMutableArray. I'm new to Xcode so I apologize if this is something trivial I have overlooked. Any help is appreciated. lq AppDelegate.m - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { [rootViewController restoreState]; } RootViewController.h @interface rootViewController : UIViewController { NSMutableArray *offendingNSMutableArray; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableArray *offendingNSMutableArray; RootViewController.m @synthesize offendingNSMutableArray; - (void)restoreState { // Gets an array stored in the user defaults plist NSUserDefaults *userDefaults = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; self.offendingNSMutableArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithArray:[userDefaults objectForKey:kArrayValue]]; } - (void)viewDidUnload { self.offendingNSMutableArray = nil; } - (void)dealloc { [offendingNSMutableArray release]; }

  • How To Detect "Touch Down" in superview of UIScrollView?

    - by wgpubs
    I have a UIView that contains a UIScrollView and I want to be able to capture the "Touch Down" event in the UIView any time the user taps on the UIScrollView. I've tried including all the touchesBegan/Ended/Cancelled handlers in my UIViewController but none of them get fired when tapping inside the UIScrollView contained in the main UIView. What is the best way to accomplish this?

  • release does not free up memory in low-memory condidtion

    - by user322945
    I am trying to follow the Apple's recommendation to handle low-memory warnings (found in Session 416 of WWDC 2009 videos) by freeing up resources used by freeing up my dataController object (referenced in my app delegate) that contains a large number of strings for read from a plist: - (void)applicationDidReceiveMemoryWarning:(UIApplication *)application { [_dataController release]; _dataController = nil; NSLog([NSString stringWithFormat:@"applicationDidReceiveMemoryWarning bottom... retain count:%i", [_dataController retainCount]]); } But when I run ObjectAlloc within Instruments and simulate a Low-Memory Condition, I don't see a decrease in the memory used by my app even though I see the NSLog statements written out and the retain count is zero for the object. I do pass references to the app delegate around to some of the view controllers. But the code above releases the reference to the _dataController object (containing the plist data) so I would expect the memory to be freed. Any help would be appreciated.

  • UIButtonTypeRoundedRect as an accessoryView

    - by phunehehe
    Hello, I have a table view and I want to put a label on the right of each cell, so in - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath I'm having some code like this UIButton *button = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect]; button.titleLabel.text = @"title"; cell.accessoryView = button; However, the button is not displaying at all. Anyone know why? I am sure that the declaration is correct, because if I replace the button declaration with UIButton *button = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeDetailDisclosure]; then the button appears, which make me think that the rounded rectangle should also appear.

  • Automatically created NSManagedObject subclasses don't use ARC

    - by Jordan
    My project is ARC enabled (the build settings have Objective-C Reference Counting set to YES). There are no file exceptions to this, it is enabled project wide. (Latest stable version of Xcode). When I create an NSManagedObject subclass via File New for a Core Data entity, the generated header uses the following in its property declarations: @property (nonatomic, retain) But 'retain' is not ARC!! Is this a bug, or is there something I'm missing or not understanding? There are no build warnings - if this is a bug though, how can I remedy it?

  • Setting an NSMutableArray in AppDelegate to be an NSMutableArray in

    - by aahrens
    What i'm trying to accomplish is to have an NSMutableArray defined in the AppDelegate. I then have two UIViewControllers. One view is responsible for displaying the array from the AppDelegate. The other view is used to add items to the array. So the array starts out to be empty. View1 doesn't display anything because the array is empty. The User goes to View2 and adds an item to the array in AppDelegate. Then when the user goes back to View1 it now displays one item. Here is how I'm trying to accomplish this @interface CalcAppDelegate : NSObject <UIApplicationDelegate> { UIWindow *window; UITabBarController *tabBarController; NSMutableArray *globalClasses; } @property (nonatomic,retain) NSMutableArray *globalClasses; My other view In the viewDidload I set the array in my View to be the one in the AppDelegate. In an effort to retain values. allCourses = [[NSMutableArray alloc]init]; CalcAppDelegate *appDelegate = (CalcAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; allCourses = appDelegate.globalClasses; Then I would update my allCourses array by adding a new item. Then try to set the array in the AppDelegate to be equal to the modified one. CalcAppDelegate *appDel = (CalcAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; NSLog(@"Size before reset %d",[appDel.globalClasses count]); appDel.globalClasses = allCourses; NSLog(@"Size after reset %d",[appDel.globalClasses count]); What I'm seeing that's returned is 2 in the before, and 2 after. So it doesn't appear to be getting updated properly. Any suggestions?

  • Drawing and Animating with UIView or CALayer?

    - by Markus
    hello, i am trying to implement a graph which a uiview draws. There are 3 UIViews to animate a left/right slide. The problem is, that i can't cancel the UIView animation. So I replaced the UIViews by CALayer. Now, the question is if CALayer is appicable for this? Is it normal to draw on a CALayer like this? And why is a CALayer so slow when I manipulate the frame properties. CGRect frame = curve.frame; frame.origin.x -= diffX; [curve setFrame:frame]; Is there a alternativ? P.S. I am a german guy. Sorry for mistakes.

  • Striping Rows of a UITableView

    - by Dan Brown
    Hello, I've read posts here on SO about striping a UITableView's cells, but have not been able to work out the details. My code is: - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { // Setup code omitted cell.textLabel.text = @"Blah Blah"; cell.detailTextLabel.text = @"Blah blah blah"; cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryDisclosureIndicator; if ([indexPath row] % 2 == 1) { cell.contentView.backgroundColor = [UIColor colorWithRed:0.9 green:0.9 blue:0.9 alpha:1.0]; cell.textLabel.backgroundColor = [UIColor colorWithRed:0.9 green:0.9 blue:0.9 alpha:0.0]; cell.detailTextLabel.backgroundColor = [UIColor colorWithRed:0.9 green:0.9 blue:0.9 alpha:1.0]; cell.accessoryView.backgroundColor = [UIColor colorWithRed:0.9 green:0.9 blue:0.9 alpha:1.0]; } return cell; } And my result is: Any ideas why this is happening? Thanks!
