eclipseFP2 haskell unix haveing issues connectiong to Scion Server

I am having troubles with using FP2 for eclipse and getting it to connect with the server. Performance of Java matrix math libraries?

We are computing something whose runtime is bound by matrix operations. (Some details below if interested.) This experience prompted the following question: Do folk have experience with the performance of Java libraries for matrix math (e.g., multiply, inverse, etc.)? For example: JAMA: http://math.nist.gov/javanumerics/jama/ COLT: http://acs.lbl.gov/~hoschek/colt/ Apache commons math: http://commons.apache.org/math/ I searched and found nothing. Details of our speed comparison: We are using Intel FORTRAN (ifort (IFORT) 10.1 20070913). We have reimplemented it in Java (1.6) using Apache commons math 1.2 matrix ops, and it agrees to all of its digits of accuracy. (We have reasons for wanting it in Java.) (Java doubles, Fortran real*8). Fortran: 6 minutes, Java 33 minutes, same machine. jvisualm profiling shows much time spent in RealMatrixImpl.{getEntry,isValidCoordinate} (which appear to be gone in unreleased Apache commons math 2.0, but 2.0 is no faster). Fortran is using Atlas BLAS routines (dpotrf, etc.). Obviously this could depend on our code in each language, but we believe most of the time is in equivalent matrix operations. In several other computations that do not involve libraries, Java has not been much slower, and sometimes much faster.

Firstly, I went here ( http://code.google.com/p/struts2-examples/downloads/list and I downloaded Hello_World_Struts2_Mvn.zip) and I run that example. Why can I query with an int but not a string here? PHP MySQL Datatypes

I am working on an Asset Database problem. I receive $id from $_GET["id"]; I then query the database and display the results. This works if my id is an integer like "93650" but if it has other characters like "wci1001", it displays this MySQL error: Unknown column 'text' in 'where clause' All fields in tables are of type: VARCHAR(50) What would I need to do to be able to use this query to search by id that includes other characters? Php code works on every browser but not on IE8, help please

Text editor(FCKEditor) ruby on rails/ PHP

I have an application that is running on Rials so now I want to add the text editor(FCKEditor/TinyMCE) to adit text/uploading images on website. I have google the internet until I got FCKeditor for Rails(http://rubyforge.org/projects/fckeditorp/) "which has a function of uploading pictures but ones you uploaded the images you can't delete/rename them :( " I tried to look for another solution and I got another FCKEditor - Ajax File Manager plugin for PHP(it works fine on my Rails Application) but the problem is I need some information from rails to use it in php e.g: session for the current login user. 1.) is there anyone got an Idea on how to get those Ruby sessions in php script? 2.) I looked at saving it in javascript session and access it in php via javascript cause both can talk to Javascript. 3.) or is there any Rails text editor which has a functionality of uploading/deleting the images? 4.) Or any better way of doing this... cause the only thing I need is the text editor that will allow me to uploaded/delete images NOt via the url but the one that will save the images on the server. Bulk Insert of hundreds of millions of records

What is the fastest way to insert 237 million records into a table that has rules (for distributing the data across 84 child tables)? First I tried inserts. No go. Then I tried inserts with BEGIN/COMMIT. Not nearly fast enough. Next, I tried COPY FROM, but then noticed the documentation states that the rules are ignored. (And it was having difficulties with the column order and date format -- it said that '1984-07-1' was not a valid integer; true, but a bit unexpected.) TinyMce imagemanager won't generate image path when used with an iframe

I have successfully setup tinymce to work on a page within an iframe. Everything works perfectly. However, when you use imagemanager to pick an image to be inserted or replaced in the editor it will not copy the path(and filename) of the image to the "Image URL" input in the "Insert/edit image" box. The box will either remain empty or keep the address of the previous image. Personal Cache vs Memcache?

I have a personal caching class, which can be seen here ( based off WordPress' ): http://pastie.org/988427 I recently learned about memcache and it said to memcache EVERYTHING: http://highscalability.com/blog/2010/5/17/7-lessons-learned-while-building-reddit-to-270-million-page.html My first thought was just to keep my class with the current functions and make it use memcache instead -- is there any downside to doing this? The main difference I see is that memcache stays on with the server from page to page, while mine is for 1 page load. The problem I see arising, and this is with any system, is that they're dynamic. They change all the time. Whether its search results, visible products, etc. etc. If it's all cached, won't the create a problem? Is there a way to handle this? Obviously if something is bringing back the same results everytime it would be cached, but that's why I was doing it on a per page load basis. I'm sure there is a way to handle this, or is the cache time usually set between 5 minutes and an hour?

Uncaught exception while using xdebug

I'm not too great with xdebug so forgive me if this is a stupid question. But I installed it on a separate machine and it performed some magic for me like formating my var_dump() output and catching any uncaught exceptions. It also fails to format the stack traces, outputting plain text which is extremely hard to read. As I am learning the Lithium PHP Framework I am required to use php5.3, on my other machine I compiled from the source but on this machine I'm using the precompiled packages from dotdeb.org. As far as I can tell the only difference is that this is a slightly newer version of php and it comes with the Suhosin patch. The other odd thing is that the xdebug functions such as xdebug_var_dump() work, aside from poor formatting. This is an Ubuntu machine, so I don't know if it could be anything to do with the dotdep packages, but I have installed xdebug through pecl, the downloadable tarball and from the SVN repository. But to no avail. You can see my php.ini and output of php -i in the following gist. I copied php.ini from /etc/php5/apache2/php.ini over to /etc/php5/cli/php.ini so php -i should reflect my apache setup. http://gist.github.com/391675 Any help is appreciated. Rich

Sanitizing user input that will later be e-mailed - what should I be worried about?

I'm interning for an NGO in India (Seva Mandir, http://sevamandir.org) and trying to fix their broken "subscribe to newsletter" box. Because the staff isn't very sophisticated and our web host isn't great, I decided to send the relevant data to the publications person via mail() instead of storing it in a MySQL database. I know that it's best to treat user input as malicious, and I've searched the SO forums for posts relevant to escaping user data for sending in a mail message. I know the data should be escaped; what should I be worried about and what's the best way to sanitize the input before emailing it? Form flow: 1. User enters email on homepage and clicks Submit 2. User enters name, address, more information on second page (bad usability, I know, but my boss asked me to) and clicks "Submit" 3. Collect the data via $_POST and email it to the publications editor (and possibly send a confirmation to the subscriber). I am going to sanitize the email in step 2 and the other data in step 3. Axis webservice calls fail sometimes, access.log shows content!

Hi, our app is a webservice client (axis 1) to a third party webservice (also axis 1). We use it for some years now. Since a few weeks, we (as a client) get sometimes HTTP status 400 (bad request) or read timeouts when calling the webservice. Strangely, the access.log of the service shows part of the request or the response instead of the URL. cookie name is truncated in Servlet 3.0 HttpServletRequest (Glassfish V3)

I'm porting our Web authentication/authorization middleware for use in containers implementing the new servlet 3.0 API (Glassfish V3 in this case). The middleware pulls cookies from the HttpServletRequest filtering on cookies with names of the form "DACS:FEDERATION::JURISDICTION:username". This works fine in the version 2.5 servlet API but is broken in 3.0. The cookie names in 3.0 are being truncated at the first ":" in the name. I understand that the servlet 3.0 implementation defaults to RFC 2109 cookies which are more restrictive about cookie names than the old Netscape spec (":" is among the characters not allowed in RFC 2109 cookie names). Digging into the servlet 3.0 source code, it appears that the use of RFC2109 names can be disabled by setting a System property "org.glassfish.web.rfc2109.cookie_names_enforced" to false. I've tried this to no avail. But besides that, the code that uses checks cookie names is in the constructor for Cookie, and it would appear that the truncation is occurring elsewhere. So - finally - the question. Have others bumped into such issues in the servlet 3.0 API and have you found a work around?

Python 3.0 IDE - Komodo and Eclipse both flaky?

heya, I'm trying to find a decent IDE that supports Python 3.x, and offers code completion/in-built Pydocs viewer, Mercurial integration, and SSH/SFTP support. Anyhow, I'm trying Pydev, and I open up a .py file, it's in the Pydev perspective and the Run As doesn't offer any options. It does when you start a Pydev project, but I don't want to start a project just to edit one single Python script, lol, I want to just open a .py file and have It Just Work... Plan 2, I try Komodo 6 Alpha 2. I actually quite like Komodo, and it's nice and snappy, offers in-built Mercurial support, as well as in-built SSH support (although it lacks SSH HTTP Proxy support, which is slightly annoying). However, for some reason, this refuses to pick up Python 3. In Edit-Preferences-Languages, there's two option, one for Python and Python3, but the Python3 one refuses to work, with either the official Python.org binaries, or ActiveState's own ActivePython 3. Of course, I can set the "Python" interpreter to the 3.1 binary, but that's an ugly hack and breaks Python 2.x support. So, does anybody who uses an IDE for Python have any suggestions on either of these accounts, or can you recommend an alternate IDE for Python 3.0 development? Cheers, Victor

Retrieve property from classpath inside POM

For my current project I want to integrate a maven plug-in for database migrations. For this plug-in to work, however, I have to obtain the database settings inside my POM. My database settings are currently placed inside a hibernate.properties file, positioned in a directory that is marked as maven resource. For a variety of reasons I do not want to duplicate my database configurations in both the pom and hibernate.properties. I'm aware that maven offers a "filtering" ability which makes it possible to specify the database settings as property inside my POM, and reference them inside my hibernate.properties as ${property_name}. But as I'm using multiple maven profiles, with different property resources, this is not a suitable solution. Instead I'd like my database configurations to be loaded from a property file inside my classpath (e.g. classpath:hibernate.properties), and use these properties in my migration plug-in configuration. I have already tried the org.codehaus.mojo » properties-maven-plugin, but this plug-in only accepts absolute locations. Is there a plug-in which can scan all my maven resources for a certain property?

Why can't I wrap the ServletRequest when trying to capture JSP Output

I am trying to dispatch in a servlet request handler to the JSP processor and capture the content of it. I am providing wrapper instances for the ServletRequest and ServletResponse, they implement the corresponding HTTPServletRequest/-Response interfaces, so they should be drop-in replacements. All methods are currently passed to the original Servlet Request object (I am planning to modify some of them soon). Additionally I have introduced some new methods. (If you want to see the code: http://code.google.com/p/gloudy/source/browse/trunk/gloudyPortal/src/java/org/gloudy/gloudlet/impl/RenderResponseImpl.java) The HttpServletResponse uses it's own output streams to capture the output. When I try to call request.getRequestDispatcher("/WEB-INF/views/test.jsp").include(request, response); With my request and response wrappers the method returns and no content has been captured. When I tried to pass the original request object it worked! But that's not what I need in the long run... request.getRequestDispatcher("/WEB-INF/views/test.jsp").include(request.getServletRequest(), response); This works. getservletRequest() returns the original Request, given by the servlet container. Does anyone know why this is not working with my wrappers?
