  • Mediawiki authenication replacement showing "Login Required" instead of signing user into wiki

    - by arcdegree
I'm fairly to MediaWiki and needed a way to automatically log users in after they authenticated to a central server (which creates a session and cookie for applications to use). I wrote a custom authentication extension based off of the LDAP Authentication extension and a few others. The extension simply needs to read some session data to create or update a user and then log them in automatically. All the authentication is handled externally. A user would not be able to even access the wiki website without logging in externally. This extension was placed into production which replaced the old standard MediaWiki authentication system. I also merged user accounts to prepare for the change. By default, a user must be logged in to view, edit, or otherwise do anything in the wiki. My problem is that I found if a user had previously used the built-in MediaWiki authentication system and returned to the wiki, my extension would attempt to auto-login the user, however, they would see a "Login Required" page instead of the page they requested like they were an anonymous user. If the user then refreshed the page, they would be able to navigate, edit, etc. From what I can tell, this issue resolves itself after the UserID cookie is reset or created fresh (but has been known to strangely come up sometimes). To replicate, if there is an older User ID in the "USERID" cookie, the user is shown the "Login Required" page which is a poor user experience. Another way of showing this page is by removing the user account from the database and refreshing the wiki page. As a result, the user will again see the "Login Required" page. Does anyone know how I can use debugging to find out why MediaWiki thinks the user is not signed in when the cookies are set properly and all it takes is a page refresh? Here is my extension (simplified a little for this post): <?php $wgExtensionCredits['parserhook'][] = array ( 'name' => 'MyExtension', 'author' => '', ); if (!class_exists('AuthPlugin')) { require_once ( 'AuthPlugin.php' ); } class MyExtensionPlugin extends AuthPlugin { function userExists($username) { return true; } function authenticate($username, $password) { $id = $_SESSION['id']; if($username = $id) { return true; } else { return false; } } function updateUser(& $user) { $name = $user->getName(); $user->load(); $user->mPassword = ''; $user->mNewpassword = ''; $user->mNewpassTime = null; $user->setRealName($_SESSION['name']); $user->setEmail($_SESSION['email']); $user->mEmailAuthenticated = wfTimestampNow(); $user->saveSettings(); return true; } function modifyUITemplate(& $template) { $template->set('useemail', false); $template->set('remember', false); $template->set('create', false); $template->set('domain', false); $template->set('usedomain', false); } function autoCreate() { return true; } function disallowPrefsEditByUser() { return array ( 'wpRealName' => true, 'wpUserEmail' => true, 'wpNick' => true ); } function allowPasswordChange() { return false; } function setPassword( $user, $password ) { return false; } function strict() { return true; } function initUser( & $user ) { } function updateExternalDB( $user ) { return false; } function canCreateAccounts() { return false; } function addUser( $user, $password ) { return false; } function getCanonicalName( $username ) { return $username; } } function SetupAuthMyExtension() { global $wgHooks; global $wgAuth; $wgHooks['UserLoadFromSession'][] = 'Auth_MyExtension_autologin_hook'; $wgHooks['UserLogoutComplete'][] = 'Auth_MyExtension_UserLogoutComplete'; $wgHooks['PersonalUrls'][] = 'Auth_MyExtension_personalURL_hook'; $wgAuth = new MyExtensionPlugin(); } function Auth_MyExtension_autologin_hook($user, &$return_user ) { global $wgUser; global $wgAuth; global $wgContLang; wfSetupSession(); // Give us a user, see if we're around $tmpuser = new User() ; $rc = $tmpuser->newFromSession(); $rc = $tmpuser->load(); if( $rc && $rc->isLoggedIn() ) { if ( $rc->authenticate($rc->getName(), '') ) { return true; } else { $rc->logout(); } } $id = trim($_SESSION['id']); $name = ucfirst(trim($_SESSION['name'])); if (empty($dsid)) { $result = false; // Deny access return true; } $user = User::newFromName($dsid); if (0 == $user->getID() ) { // we have a new user to add... $user->setName( $id); $user->addToDatabase(); $user->setToken(); $user->saveSettings(); $ssUpdate = new SiteStatsUpdate( 0, 0, 0, 0, 1 ); $ssUpdate->doUpdate(); } else { $user->saveToCache(); } // update email, real name, etc. $wgAuth->updateUser( $user ); $result = true; // Go ahead and log 'em in $user->setToken(); $user->saveSettings(); $user->setupSession(); $user->setCookies(); return true; } function Auth_MyExtension_personalURL_hook(& $personal_urls, & $title) { global $wgUser; unset( $personal_urls['mytalk'] ); unset($personal_urls['Userlogin']); $personal_urls['userpage']['text'] = $wgUser->getRealName(); foreach (array('login', 'anonlogin') as $k) { if (array_key_exists($k, $personal_urls)) { unset($personal_urls[$k]); } } return true; } function Auth_MyExtension_UserLogoutComplete(&$user, &$inject_html, $old_name) { setcookie( $GLOBALS['wgCookiePrefix'] . • What is the function of those film covers on electronic equipment such as mobile screens but also peripheral plastics on a laptop?

    - by leladax
I understand it may "protect" an area but I don't get why the customer gets it and then takes it off after it was being protected in a full box anyway. Also, should those film covers that surround the plastics around a laptop screen (and not the screen itself) and maybe also on the keyboard be kept on as much as possible? I noticed if one tries to keep them on as much as possible they tend to go off by themselves anyway, but anyway, what's the status quo about it?

  • the problem only happens when i try create a release...

    - by ace
I'm sorry if im not presenting this right, but i trully cannot understand what the problem is. i have a project to hand in, a code of 600 lines defined within a main, .cpp, and header file. if i compile the project with just a debugger and no release, it's fine. when i create it with the release, the following error occurs, for every function!!! 1st error: |36|multiple definition of `countLines(int&, std::vector const&)'| 2nd error: |36|first defined here| if someone will allow me and i can send them the entire code, that would be awesome - i have to have this done within 3 hours.

  • Intercepting mouse events using a global hook. Stop an action from happening.

    - by fMinkel
I'm attempting to intercept and interrupt mouse events. Lets say I wanted to disable the right mouse button down event, or even the mouse move event. I haven't been able to figure out the interrupting part. I am using the (I assume pretty widely used) following code for Global Hooking of the mouse. • How to use Javascript to create a checked radioButton in IE?

    - by Chris
I was trying to create a checked radiobutton by using following code in IE7. But it doesn't work. var x = document.createElement(""); var spn=document.createElement("span"); spn.appendChild(x); x.checked=true; document.body.appendChild(spn); I found that I could put x.checked=true after appendChild statement to make it work. I also noticed that when I change "radio" to "checkbox", it can be checked without changing the order of statements. I am really confused by these facts. Am I doing something wrong in the above code?

  • how to create Codeigniter route that doesn't override the other controller routes?

  • How to I create a user that is allowed to only add/remove users to distribution lists in Active Directory?

    - by Sorin Sbarnea
I do have a third party product (Jira) that has Active Directory integration via LDAP. I want to enable Jira administrators to edit group memberships and have them syncronized inside Active Directory. This currently works but I needed to use a Domain Administrator service account in order to do this. The question is how can I do this without giving the entire Domain Administrator permission to the service account.

  • C++ is there a difference between assignment inside a pass by value and pass by reference function?

    - by Rémy DAVID
Is there a difference between foo and bar: class A { Object __o; void foo(Object& o) { __o = o; } void bar(Object o) { __o = o; } } As I understand it, foo performs no copy operation on object o when it is called, and one copy operation for assignment. Bar performs one copy operation on object o when it is called and another one for assignment. So I can more or less say that foo uses 2 times less memory than bar (if o is big enough). Is that correct ? Is it possible that the compiler optimises the bar function to perform only one copy operation on o ? i.e. makes __o pointing on the local copy of argument o instead of creating a new copy?

  • How to create and restore a backup from SqlAlchemy?

    - by swilliams
I'm writing a Pylons app, and am trying to create a simple backup system where every table is serialized and tarred up into a single file for an administrator to download, and use to restore the app should something bad happen. I can serialize my table data just fine using the SqlAlchemy serializer, and I can deserialize it fine as well, but I can't figure out how to commit those changes back to the database. In order to serialize my data I am doing this: from myproject.model.meta import Session from sqlalchemy.ext.serializer import loads, dumps q = Session.query(MyTable) serialized_data = dumps(q.all()) In order to test things out, I go ahead and truncation MyTable, and then attempt to restore using serialized_data: from myproject.model import meta restore_q = loads(serialized_data, meta.metadata, Session) This doesn't seem to do anything... I've tried calling a Session.commit after the fact, individually walking through all the objects in restore_q and adding them, but nothing seems to work. What am I missing? Or is there a better way to do what I'm aiming for? I don't want to shell out and directly touch the database, since SqlAlchemy supports different database engines.

  • How would I create a VIM or Vi command to delete all text after a certain character for every line i

    - by Jason Down
Scenario: I have a text file that has pipe (as in the "|" character) delimited data. Each field of data in the pipe delimited fields can be of variable length, so counting characters won't work (or using some sort of substring function... if that even exists in VIM). Is it possible, using VIM / Vi to delete all data from the second pipe to the end of the line for the entire file? There are approx 150,000 lines, so doing this manually would only be appealing to a masochist... e.g. Change the following lines from: 1111|random sized text 12345|more random data la la la|1111|abcde 2222|random sized text abcdefghijk|la la la la|2222|defgh 3333|random sized text|more random data|33333|ijklmnop to: 1111|random sized text 12345 2222|random sized text abcdefghijk 3333|random sized text I'm sure this can be done somehow... I hope. TIA UPDATE: I should have mentioned that I'm running this on Windows XP, so I don't have access to some of the mentioned *nix commands (CUT is not recognized on Windows).

  • How do I create a point system in a Rails/Twitter app that assigns points to users and non-authentic

    - by codyvbrown
I'm building a question and answer application on top of twitter and I'm hitting some snags because I'm inevitably dealing with two classes of users: authenticated and non-authenticated. The site enable users to give points to other users, who may or may not be authenticated, and I want to create a site-wide point system where the application stores and displays this information on their profile. I want to save this point data to the user because that would be faster and more efficient but non-authenticated users aren't in our system, we only have the twitter handle. So instead we display the points in our system like this: @points = point.all( :select => "tag, count(*) AS count", # Return tag and count :group => 'tag', # Group by the tag :order => "2 desc", :conditions => {:twitter_handle => params[:username]}) Is there a better way to do this? Is there a better way to associate data with non-authenticated users?

  • New to Drupal -- how should I create a main page with a mix of dynamic and static content?

    - by Erode
I apologize for the terribly basic question but I'm not even a particularly adept web dev. I've read that Drupal is great if you know exactly what you want to do (then the API is handy) but I don't even know what I need yet. That is what I am hoping to gain from this discussion. I want a main content page which has a fancy content slider (using jQuery or something) which will be a selector for showing some basic information on these 2 or 3 subjects. I'm stuck on where I should be writing this mix of markup. In the template? Create "content" through a content type? Since there's a fair share of CSS and markup required to do this, I don't know if I can do that through the "basic page" content type that was there. I'm looking for pointers that can teach me how I would become aware of what Drupal can and can not do. Thanks for reading, let me know if I need to clarify anything.

  • How can I create "My Computer" toolbar at the top of the Desktop in Windows 7?

    - by user8875
In previous versions of Windows, I have been able to "drag and drop" the My Computer icon to the top or sides of the desktop and convert it into a toolbar. The toolbar could be set "always on top" or "autohide". I found this a very convenient way to have instant access to all my drives with NO clicks. Windows 7 does not appear to have this functionality. Is there any way to recreate a My Computer toolbar at the top of the Desktop in Windows 7?

  • What does this PHP (function/construct?) do, and where can I find more documentation on it?

    - by Rob
    Simple question. Here is this code. $r = rand(0,1); $c = ($r==0)? rand(65,90) : rand(97,122); $inputpass .= chr($c); I understand what it does in the end result, but I'd like a better explanation on how it works, so I can use it myself. Sorry if this is a bad question. If you're unsure of what I'm asking about, its the (function?) used here: $c = ($r==0)? rand(65,90) : rand(97,122);

  • How to create a zip file and keep entries for directories?

    - by NathanZ
    I would like to create a zip archive from a folder and keep entries for (non-empty) directories. In the code below, FileInputStream throws a FileNotFoundException when a directory is passed to AddToZip. I have tried to put a condition around the actual writing of bytes but it makes the whole archive invalid. How can I add directory entries to the archive? public static void addToZip(File directoryToZip, File file, ZipOutputStream zos) throws FileNotFoundException, IOException { String zipFilePath = file.getCanonicalPath().substring(directoryToZip.getCanonicalPath().length() + 1,file.getCanonicalPath().length()); System.out.println("Writing '" + zipFilePath + "' to zip file"); ZipEntry zipEntry = new ZipEntry(zipFilePath); zos.putNextEntry(zipEntry); FileInputStream fis = new FileInputStream(file); // Throws a FileNotFoundException when directory byte[] bytes = new byte[1024]; int length; while ((length = fis.read(bytes)) >= 0) { zos.write(bytes, 0, length); } zos.closeEntry(); fis.close(); }

  • How do I create an ant builder file (build.xml) for an existing Java project?

    - by Amir Rachum
Hi all, I am working on an Java assignment for a software design course in my university. It's not really complicated and it includes some classes, interfaces and jUnit test cases. We we're now told we should supply a build.xml file as an input for an ant builder. I have never heard of or used ant before. I also saw Eclipse supports it. My question is - What does build.xml does? How does Eclipse builds my project and why not do the same instead of using ant? And most important - how to create this file with Eclipse? Thanks.

  • Does iPhone SDK Objective C support functions inside of functions?

    - by Moshe
I know that javascript, for example supports functions inside of functions, like so: function doSomething(){ function doAnothingThing(){ //this function is redefined every time doSomething() is called and only exists inside doSomething() } //you can also stick it inside of conditions if(yes){ function doSomethingElse(){ //this function only exists if yes is true } } } Does objective-c support this? Theoretical example: -(void) doSomething:(id) sender{ -(void) respondToEvent: (id) sender{ //theoretically? ... please? } } BONUS: What is the proper term for a "local" function?

Could anyone please advise me on what I am doing wrong? Thank you!

  • lua metatable __lt __le __eq forced boolean conversion of return value

    - by chris g.
Overloading __eq, __lt, and __le in a metatable always converts the returning value to a boolean. Is there a way to access the actual return value? This would be used in the following little lua script to create an expression tree for an argument usage: print(_.a + _.b - _.c * _.d + _.a) -> prints "(((a+b)-(c*d))+a)" which is perfectly what I would like to have but it doesn't work for print(_.a == _.b) since the return value gets converted to a boolean ps: print should be replaced later with a function processing the expression tree -- snip from lua script -- function binop(op1,op2, event) if op1[event] then return op1[event](op1, op2) end if op2[event] then return op2[event](op1, op2) end return nil end function eq(op1, op2)return binop(op1,op2, "eq") end ... function div(op1, op2)return binop(op1,op2, "div") end function exprObj(tostr) expr = { eq = binExpr("=="), lt = binExpr("<"), le = binExpr("<="), add = binExpr("+"), sub=binExpr("-"), mul = binExpr("*"), div= binExpr("/") } setmetatable(expr, { __eq = eq, __lt = lt, __le = le, __add = add, __sub = sub, __mul = mul, __div = div, __tostring = tostr }) return expr end function binExpr(exprType) function binExprBind(lhs, rhs) return exprObj(function(op) return "(" .. tostring(lhs) .. exprType .. tostring(rhs) .. • How do Go web apps function from a server perspective?

    - by Metropolis
Hey Everyone, I followed the directions on how to create web applications using Go, and I was able to get an application working great. One thing I am confused about though is, when you run the application (./8.out), the terminal will sit there and listen on port 8080 until somebody accesses a page. Does the terminal need to stay up all of the time to run the web application? Does the application act like apache? Does apache need to be run next to this app? Setting this up on a server environment seems very confusing to me right now because I dont understand what the best way to do this is. Thanks for any help on this, Metropolis

  • How can I create a macro that acts on a relative reference rather than an absolute reference to cell A1?

    - by Bruce
I have a master rent statement in an Excel 2007 (macro enabled) spreadsheet that shows all tenants in rows with columns formed by the months. Each tenant then has a separate rent statement sheet like the one below that pulls the data through from the master rent statement and all I do then is to copy the last 4 columns to the right and add them to the right, just renaming the month labelled as ‘rent due’ with the current month and then hiding the previous last 4 columns to the left so that the statement always shows the previous month's activity and the amount due for the current month: I used a macro to speed up the creation of these statements, but then found that in some cases the result was wrong and needed major correction because the macro use absolute references i.e. its starting position was relative to cell A1 whereas some of my rent worksheets commence from a different column and in some cases from a different column and a different row. I have tried recording the macro with 'Use relative references' but when trying to use the macro it only gets part way through its operation before it stops and the message appears: Run time error '1004' Application defined or object defined error with the option to End or Debug or go to Help and then I'm stuck as I don't know how to debug and work in VBA or understand what has gone wrong. I want to record a single macro that always remains relative to the last 'Total Due' column heading (in the sample, it’s cell FF3 but on another worksheet could be cell GA26) and thus enables me regardless of where on the worksheet the rent statement is placed to add through my recorded macro a further four columns with updated dates and a repositioned 'Total Due' summary (in the sample in cells FE23 and FF23). The contents of cells FE23 and FE22 are always the same number of rows from the 'Sample Rent Statement, Service Charge and Sub Total' rows. I've searched on the web and in the help files of Excel 2007 but have been totally stumped by this, so currently I have to re-record a quantity of macros each month to cover all of the permutations of the worksheets in my Excel rent workbook, which is starting to become pointless in terms of saving time. Does someone know a solution to this problem please?!
