• Why Doesn't This Java Code Skip Lines with #?

  I'm trying to allow an external .txt file that is read by a Java script be able to have some comments in the beginning of the file so others can easily edit it and add more to it. But if the file contains # (the sign designated for a line that is a comment) it just returns the error that there is a "Format Error in file" (the IOException - so it is getting past that first "IF"...) Can someone help?   Hello, I am using prototype to load external js file (actually it is php file) dynamically. But if some different file is called, all the functions from previous one are preserved. And I don't want that. Anybody knows how to "unload" first js file when second one is called? (I also tried using Ajax.Updater function but the result is the same.) Update: It turns out that there is bigger problem: it only loads if function "UpdateJS" is in window.onload that is why it doesn't load anything else after that. So prototypes update it's maybe not such a good way for this...

• Fixing "Lock wait timeout exceeded; try restarting transaction" for a 'stuck" Mysql table?

  From a script I sent a query like this thousands of times to my local database: update some_table set some_column = some_value I forgot to add the where part, so the same column was set to the same a value for all the rows in the table and this was done thousands of times and the column was indexed, so the corresponding index was probably updated too lots of times. I noticed something was wrong, because it took too long, so I killed the script. I even rebooted my computer since them, but something stuck in the table, because simple queries take a very long time to run and when I try dropping the relevant index it fails with this message: Lock wait timeout exceeded; try restarting transaction It's an innodb table, so stuck the transaction is probably implicit. How can I fix this table and remove the stuck transaction from it?

• How can I replicate the functionality of the Flash Builder's release tool in ant?

  I want to build an ant script that does exactly the same compilation actions on a Flash Builder 4 (Gumbo) project as the Project->Export Release Build... menu item does. My ant-fu is reasonably strong, that's not the issue, but rather I'm not sure exactly what that entry is doing. Some details: I'll be using the 3.x SDK (say, 3.2 for the sake of specificity) to build this. I'll be building on a Mac, and I can happily use ant, make, or some weird shell script stuff if that's the way you roll. Any useful optimizations you can suggest will be welcome. The project contains a few assets, MXML and actionscript source, and a couple of .swcs that are built into the project (not RSL'd) Can someone provide an ant build.xml or makefle that they use to build a release .swf file from a similar Flex project?

What my problem is, I am using this script in a form which will have some other fields too. So after uploading the image, when I click submit at the end of the form, the form is submitted to the file which was opened in iFrame. As I am not an expert in JS, can you guys help me with this? I tried changing the action attribute and tried to completely remove the form too, but nothing helped.

I will be running the script on a cronjob and then displaying the tweets on my site from the database to prevent hitting the limit on the twitter API. So I don't want to have duplicate tweets in my database, I understand I can use 'INSERT...ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE' to achieve this, but I don't quite understand how to use it. My database structure is as follows. Table - Hash id (auto_increment) tweet user user_url And currently my SQL to insert is as follows: $tweet = $clean_content[0]; $user_url = $clean_uri[0]; $user = $clean_name[0]; $query='INSERT INTO hash (tweet, user, user_url) VALUES ("'.$tweet.'", "'.$user.'", "'.$user_url.'")'; mysql_query($query); How would I correctly use 'INSERT...ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE' to insert only if it doesn't exist, and update if it does? • Recommended formats to store bitmaps in memory?

  I'm working with general purpose image rendering, and high-performance image processing, and so I need to know how to store bitmaps in-memory. (24bpp/32bpp, compressed/raw, etc) I'm not working with 3D graphics or DirectX / OpenGL rendering and so I don't need to use graphics card compatible bitmap formats. My questions: What is the "usual" or "normal" way to store bitmaps in memory? (in C++ engines/projects?) How to store bitmaps for high-performance algorithms, such that read/write times are the fastest? (fixed array? with/without padding? 24-bpp or 32-bpp?) How to store bitmaps for applications handling a lot of bitmap data, to minimize memory usage? (JPEG? or a faster [de]compression algorithm?) Some possible methods: Use a fixed packed 24-bpp or 32-bpp int[] array and simply access pixels using pointer access, all pixels are allocated in one continuous memory chunk (could be 1-10 MB) Use a form of "sparse" data storage so each line of the bitmap is allocated separately, reusing more memory and requiring smaller contiguous memory segments Store bitmaps in its compressed form (PNG, JPG, GIF, etc) and unpack only when its needed, reducing the amount of memory used. Delete the unpacked data if its not used for 10 secs.

• Is is possible to parse a web page from the client side for a large number of words and if so, how?

  I have a list of keywords, about 25,000 of them. I would like people who add a certain < script tag on their web page to have these keywords transformed into links. What would be the best way to go and achieve this? I have tried the simple javascript approach (an array with lots of elements and regexping/replacing each) and it obviously slows down the browser. I could always process the content server-side if there was a way, from the client, to send the page's content to a cross-domain server script (I'm partial to PHP but it could be anything) but I don't know of any way to do this. Any other working solution is also welcome.
