• Best/Most Comprehensive API for Stocks/Financial Data

  What is the most recommended free/public API for accessing financial market stats and stock quotes (preferrably real-time quotes)? I'm not too picky about how it's exposed (SOAP, REST, some proprietary XML setup, etc.), as long as it's got some decent documentation. I'm planning to build a simple web dashboard in PHP with some basic data (basically a quick-n-dirty homepage), but may want to grow it into a full blown web app eventually. Any thoughts? • iPad split controller that doesn't hide the left pane in portrait

  I am trying to implement a split view controller like UISplitViewController on the iPad, but I don't want the left pane to be hidden when the device is in portrait orientation. So I've created a UIViewController subclass for this in IB and it works fine without any sub-view controllers. Now I'm trying to wrap my head around what is required to setup and manage the two UIViewController objects for the left and right panes. In my app, they are going to both be UINavigationController with a UITableView in them. I've hit a mental road block about how to set this up and was hoping someone could point me to some sample code or give me a recommendation for architecture here...

  I am using Unity with MVC and NHibernate. Unfortunately, our UnitOfWork resides in a different .dll and it doesn't have a default empty .ctor. • Netbeans 6.8 groovy files in src/main/java

  I have a new netbeans maven/groovy project, and I actually prefer to mix my java and groovy files in src/main/java and src/test/java (I find it easier to navigate this way and my pom reflects this configuration). However, when I have my project setup this way in Netbeans 6.8, it always shows the generated-sources folder in error. The stubs generated from groovy files in src/test/java can't be opened by netbeans and given an error that they can't be parsed. However, in windows explorer the files are in tact. Netbeans can run the project but it continues to prompt me that some files are in error (even though I know they're not). It's like netbeans isn't refreshing itself. Any thoughts on how to fix this? thanks, Jeff

• How do I alter the URL?

  I'm currently working on a big web application for a company and we are about 4 months in, but we have a harmless(but annoying) problem that we have just left because we didn't time to change it. The way we setup our MVC is leaving us with the Servlet being stacked one after the other endless amounts of times on the URL so if we had a Servlet named "ControllerServlet" and I did something on the website I would get a result such as this the first time. WebsiteXXXXXXX.com/XXX/ControllerServletXXXX And the next time I were to do something everything will work fine, but the URL will stack the ControllerServlet Path like this.. WebsiteXXXXXXX.com/XXX/ControllerServlet/ControllerServlet/XXXX WebsiteXXXXXXX.com/XXX/ControllerServlet/ControllerServlet/ControllerServlet/XXXX and so on.... Although it is working perfectly fine, something is obviously not right. I imagine this is an easy fix, but could really use somebodies help. Thanks alot

• How to sync with eclipse target management?

  I've been using the Jcraft SFTP plugin for Team Synchronisation up till now but I ran across a rumour it's being deprecated by "Target Management". Still, despite my best efforts I haven't found any information on HOW you are supposed to setup a sync with RSE/Target Management. Can anybody provide a step-by-step guide or at least clarification on whether this is actually possible right now or just a planned feature. I do my testing locally then sync to the remote - which may have changes made by other users. I want to be able to see differences and deal with conflicts etc just like with the current Team Synchronization framework.

• c# Bitmap.Save transparancy doesn't save in png

  I'm trying to save a Bitmap class that has transparancy as a png file with transparancy. I'm having no luck. The bitmap has transparancy, it just doesn't save with transparancy. this is what I'm doing bitmap setup Bitmap ret = new Bitmap(bWidth, bHeight, System.Drawing.Imaging.PixelFormat.Format32bppArgb); saveing ret.Save(filename, ImageFormat.Png); I also tried saving the file with a filestream, and that made no difference. When the image is in a Picture box the transparancy exists, but when I save i I just get a black background. I really don't want to use any 3rd party code, they found a way to do it, I'd like to also. thanks.

• CodeIgniter Project Giving 303/Compression Error

  Trying to setup a CodeIgniter based project for local development (LAMP stack), and once all the config file were updated (meaning I successfully had meaningful bootstrap errors for CodeIgniter), I get this error in my browsers: Chrome Error 330 (net::ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILED): Unknown error. Firefox Content Encoding Error: The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression. Just using wget to fetch the file works fine, no errors and I get the content I'm expecting. Not sure if this is something with CI and the Server, or just something weird with the project. Has anyone seen this before?

  I'm trying to setup my Xcode project to be instrumented with gcov so I can determine the code coverage of my unit tests. All of the documentation I find online talks about settings that I don't find in Xcode 3.1, though. An example: To work with Coverstory, first you need to set up your target to work with gcov. This requires turning on "Instrument Program Flow", "Generate Test Coverage Files" and linking with the gcov library. (Using Coverstory) The closest thing I can find to "Instrument Program Flow" and "Generate Test Coverage Files" in my build settings is "Generate Profiling Code", which doesn't appear to do what I want it to do. Am I looking in the wrong place for these settings or are all of the examples I'm finding online stale?

• NAVT WordPress Plugin - Not working on index.php

  Hi there, I need to move my wordpress home page onto the actual index.php file but for some bizarre reason the NAVT plugin doesn't work on there. It also doesn't work on index.php when I put it in the header.php file. It works on all other pages as normal. ALSO, it does work in the footer.php file when viewing the index.php file so this is what makes it all the more confusing. Any ideas what it could be? I've disabled every other plugin so I'm pretty sure there's nothing conflicting. It's rather basic setup and I'm using NAVT default settings. Thanks, Michael.

• Determining full XHR request URL on a Google Chrome XHR Breakpoint

  I am initiating a jQuery ajax ($.ajax) post, within the Google Chrome browser. I have setup a XHR breakpoint in the "XHR Breakpoints" section of the "Scripts" tab within the Developer Tools. The criteria of the breakpoint is "get" ie. I want the debugger to break on all XHR requests which contain the word "get" in them (somePage.asmx/getListOfAnimals) is an example. The breakpoint is being correctly hit, however I am unable to determine what the exact URL that is being requested. I realize I can remove the breakpoint and see what URL is being requested from the "Network" tab, but I want to know this at the time the breakpoint is hit. I have tried stepping through the XHR request once it has been hit in Chrome, but I must be missing a Javascript object/property which contains the fully requested URL. Google Chrome has detected that the XHR requested URL contains "get" but how do I get to this URL from within the debug session before the request is made?

• Why am I getting 404 in Django?

  After installing this python Django module: http://code.google.com/p/django-compress/wiki/Installation I am getting 404's in my media static files. This Django module is supposed to "compress" the javascript/css files. That's why I'm getting 404 I guess. The problem is, I don't want this anymore. And when I installed this program, I did "python setup.py install" How do I install it? I just want to revert it back to normal so I don't get any 404 errors.

• Why won't asp.net create cookies in localhost?

  Okay, this is really kinda starting to bug me. I have a simple Web project setup located at: "C:\Projects\MyTestProject\". In IIS on my machine, I have mapped a virtual directory to this location so I can run my sites locally (I understand I can run it from Visual Studio, I like this method better). I have named this virtual directory "mtp" and I access it via http://localhost/mtp/index.aspx. All this is working fine. However, whenever I try to create a cookie, it simply never gets written out? I've tried this in FF3 and IE7 and it just plain won't write the cookie out. I don't get it. I do have "127.0.0.1 localhost" in my hosts file, I can't really think of anything else I can do. • Drupal 5: CCK fields in custom content type

  I have module that implements custom content type via NodeAPI hooks (hook_insert, hook_update etc). I want to add CCK field to this content type and populate it via hook_nodeapi calls like create or update (to show content nodes in Views). Problem is, I cannot access CCK fields for this content type. Sure, it's enabled on "Manage Fields" page, but when I load any node of this type with Devel module, I cannot see field attribute (field_flag) in node object. I can see it under "Dev Render" tab as part of "content" attribute, like $node-content['field_flag']['#value'], but if I assign value to $node-field_flag or $node-content['field_flag']['#value'] and call node_save, CCK fields are not saved. Maybe I must call some other function to save CCK fields? Or what may be wrong with this setup?

User b gets access to all of user a's data and can brows the site as user a. Note: user b does not log in. User b just hits the site, and the site returns as if user b is already logged in as user a. Note 2: user a and user b are on distinct computers. Also, static variables are not involved in the code. Setup: IIS 6 .Net 2.0 OutputCache off for the pages in the site

  Hi, i'm looking to show detail about sensors in an Actvity but when i put my app in to my phone i manage to view only details about the accellerometer, but the program says that i have 4 sensors: Accellerometer, Magnetic field, Orientation and Temperature. • send dbmail on @@error from sql server 2005

  Hi, I am trying to send database mail when error occurs inside the transaction.My setup for dbo.sp_send_dbmail is correct , when I execute the proc I do get an email within 1 min. However when I try to use dbo.sp_send_dbmail inside another proc within transactions than I do not get the email. Sql server does show in the result window that "Mail queued" but I never receive it.   I need some directions for the following problem: I have a lot of InDesign files and i have to setup a process that will track if a certain paragraph or text block has changed between diferent versions of the file. If the text block has changed i want to extract that text block in a "portable" format (html, pdf, txt). Is there an Adobe product that would do that ? Is there any public API to access an InDesign file ? Is there the posibility to export InDesign to, say, html ?

  I have setup Riak on a Ubuntu machine, and it seam to work if I do riak ping. Now I would like to use the Riak Java client to store an object, but it doesn't work. I get com.basho.riak.client.response.RiakIORuntimeException when I try to store an object. What am I doing wrong? Is there a way to test if I can access riak from my java client?   Given multi-tenant application, How are vendors implementing email notifications from an email account setup and programming perspective: Sending emails could come from a generic account: eg [email protected] or [email protected], this seems reasonable considering reply addresses and lilnks can be contained within the email contents. Receiving Emails: How would an application receive email, for instance; to generate support tickets or assign comments in an email to a project/task. I have seen ID's within the subject and some reply to addresses containing the account name eg: [email protected] I realise one can programatically connect to a pop3 server and receive emails and look for the IDs with the subject, but is there a way of setting up and receiving email to a single pop3 account from multiple sub-host name email addresses (not sure on terminology there) eg: [email protected] or [email protected] and check the Account Name from the address? (similar to checking subdomains on a URL) Any practices, experience, comments or sughestions? (not sure its relevant, but using C# asp.net-mvc and services etc)

  I really enjoy attending unconference/BarCamp type events and getting to meet developers, designers etc. from different backgrounds and sharing ideas in person. However, I have trouble finding events as there does not seem to be one place where they are listed. Does anyone know of such a place? I also want to setup a Google Technology User Group in Bristol but again other that putting it on Linkedin, Facebook, Meetup.com etc. I don't really know how to get the information out to what would essentially be a niche group of developers. Any ideas?
