  I just began with SQL Server 2011 Denali CTP1. The very first thing, I realized that there is no AdventureWorks Sample Database available for Denali. I quickly searched online and reached to Microsoft documentations where it provides information of the how to install (restore) AdventureWorks for SQL Server 2011 for Denali. Download the AdventureWorks from here. Run following script (replace your path of mdf file. CREATE DATABASE AdventureWorks2008R2 ON (FILENAME = 'C:\SQL 11 CTP1\CTP1\AdventureWorks2008R2_Data.mdf') FOR ATTACH_REBUILD_LOG ; When you run above script it will give you following message and you are DONE! File activation failure. The physical file name "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\DATA\AdventureWorks2008R2_Log.ldf" may be incorrect. New log file 'C:\SQL 11 CTP1\CTP1\AdventureWorks2008R2_log.ldf' was created. Converting database 'AdventureWorks2008R2' from version 679 to the current version 684. • How do I install the latest version of Mupen64?

  Alright, I can't figure out how to install Mupen64 on Ubuntu 12.04. I'm gonna be moving in ~2 days with no internet connection for an indefinite amount of time, so that's why I'm asking for answers here instead of figuring it out myself (I don't have time right now to sit and fiddle with figuring out emulators). I'd like to know how to properly install the latest version of Mupen64 (Stable. No beta or anything like that) and how to be able to use a controller with it. I've heard rumor that the latest version of M64 no longer has a GUI, but that there are ways to add a GUI to it after installation, so I'd also like to know how to add the Mupen64Py UI to it. I am not totally Ubuntu savvy. I do not know how to compile stuff from source, I don't necessarily know a lot of terminology, I'm not very handy with the terminal, etc. So it would be helpful if you explain each step in an easy to understand manner. Thanks in advance to anybody who helps out. EDIT: I've already seen How do I install mupen64plus?, just so you guys know. I just need instructions that are more detailed. • Can I upgrade my ubuntu version and change to be primary OS after originally installing with Wibu?

  I have recently installed Ubuntu 12.04 using Wubi 12.04 and I now wish to upgrade to a full installation of Ubuntu 14.04, Before attempting to upgrade through the update center I did some research on upgrading from a Wubi installation (alongside windows) to a full installation making Ubuntu primary and only OS and found that it is in fact doable through the update center however it is just highly recommended to perform a full backup before doing so. I have now finished backing up all the data I need to worry about and began the upgrade process through the update center and received the following error: Your graphics hardware may not be fully supported in Ubuntu 14.04. Running the 'unity' desktop environment is not fully supported by your graphics hardware. You will maybe end up in a very slow environment after the upgrade. Our advice is to keep the LTS version for now. For more information see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Bugs/UpdateManagerWarningForUnity3D Do you still want to continue with the upgrade? My questions are as follows: A. Isnt 14.04 a LTS version??? B, What are your recomendations in order to ensure my graphics driver is installed correctly and im not stuck with bad configs/install?

  Requires keyring and authentication to install and unistall programs or update anything. I just want to restart from scratch so i can clean it up anyways. Can anyone help? Also, on start up a list on a black screen will come up saying Ubuntu with linux version 26.32-40 generic or recovery version and at the bottom of different versions has one Window 7 loader option. When I get into recovery menu to try and restore to factory settings my netbook has no restore option. I've tried pressing alt-f10 and holding alt and repeatedly tap f10 but nothing seems to work, and my acer asks for a password login to even load windows 7 which I don't have. Any ideas? I've looked a lot on the internet for help but I'm getting to my last resort, to get of this thing for once and for all. I want to be able to personalize and add programs as I please, this is all bs to go through to unistall one freaking game or get rid of ubuntu gnome keyring!! Please help!! Thank you. :)

• Adapting existing HTML/Javascript model to Titanium's latest release (v 0.9)

  In pre-0.9 versions of Titanium, one could simply specify an .html file (local or remote) in the tiapp.xml file and interact with it in the same manner as one would on a website. As of version 0.9, that is no the longer case. One creates their entire app dynamically. Unfortunately, this broke my previous implementation and, other than an updated Kitchen Sink, much of the new model and API calls are not covered in the documentation (e.g., createLabel). So, my question is this... What are the simplest steps for re-creating the previous effect (knowingly forgoing some of the advantages of the Titanium's latest approach if necessary)? My previous implementation was exactly as it functions on the website. The website has a single index.html file with no content other than links to JavaScript and style files. The document body's onload event called the first JavaScript function (located in the main script) and, from that point forth, the entire content was dynamically created. How can I set up the latest version of Titanium so that I am poised to do the exact same thing? BTW: Whereas I previously had the choice to keep the files local or remote, I don't believe that remote access (e.g., simply using the webView widget to point to the website) is viable. That's because pages displayed via the webView do not have access to most of the API. Since the iPhone and Safari browsers do not support the file input type, the only means for uploading files (something my app requires) is calling Titanium's function. Thanks in advance.

• DDMS plugin not loading GPX files

  I am unable to load a GPX file in the DDMS eclipse plugin. When specifying a GPX file, no points are added to the emulator control list. I have tried adding KML files as well, generated in Google earth. Is there a way to get these files to work? • How to add video into a webpage for mobile web browsers.

  Our company is making a mobile version of our website. We have several product videos we want to show on the mobile version. When I try to use <a href="video.wmv">video</a> I get sound playing but a black screen on my htc incredible android os phone. I'm thinking that the video is playing but in a different browser window. I need it to display all in one window without having to switch to a different window. I tried the html embed tags and get no video or sound at all, from what I've read these tags are not very realiable cross browser. I also just tried the html5 video tags below. I get an icon identifying that it's a video file but it doesn't play. <video src="video.wmv" controls="controls"> your browser does not support the video tag </video> Is there a special format the video file needs to be in? Should I be using the href or embed tags, what other options do I have? If it helps to know, I'm using the mobile doctype on my webpages. Thanks

• Accept All Cookies via HttpClient

  So this is currently how my app is set up: 1.) Login Activity. 2.) Once logged in, other activities may be fired up that use PHP scripts that require the cookies sent from logging in. I am using one HttpClient across my app to ensure that the same cookies are used, but my problem is that I am getting 2 of the 3 cookies rejected. I do not care about the validity of the cookies, but I do need them to be accepted. I tried setting the CookiePolicy, but that hasn't worked either. This is what logcat is saying: 11-26 10:33:57.613: WARN/ResponseProcessCookies(271): Cookie rejected: "[version: 0] [name: cookie_user_id][value: 1][domain: www.trackallthethings.com][path: trackallthethings][expiry: Sun Nov 25 11:33:00 CST 2012]". Illegal path attribute "trackallthethings". I understand that the reason my cookies are being rejected is because of an "Illegal path attribute" (I am running a script at /mobile-api/login.php whereas the cookie will return with a path of just "/" for trackallthethings), but I would like to accept the cookies anyhow. Is there a way to do this?

• How to provide i18n service for developer and end user

  Many android applications have quite poor i18n-support, and for an understandable reason, as it adds much work for the developer. From a both intuitive and cultural point of view it would be a good thing if end-users could translate the apps themself, and OTA share the translation, without reinstalling the app itself. In concept; as wikipedia, some add content easily, others only use what's there. It's of course important that the service is as easy as possible to use, both for app-developers, and people willing to transcribe. To keep it simple, this is the solution I'm concidering; Developer perspective: Developer uses a customized setContentView when open activities/layouts that will seach for thanslations of xml-entries. (below) The customized version is provided as a free downloadable library/class..., turning the i18n feature to more or less a one liner. User perspective: User downloads app without any translation As app launches, it checks locale running at phone, and will look for a translated xml-file at shared space in SD. If no or old transcribed xml (above), try to download new from internet-service (ansync). This is all done by library above, no need for intents. Translator perspective: Separate app to provide translations for any app using the i18n service above. (Could be just a webapp), with some form of QA on translators/input. QUESTION: Now, for this to work efficiently, it has to be AeasyAP for the developer to even bother, and the most fluent solution would be a customized version of setContentView, that simply loads the translated values from external xml, instead of the ones in the apk. Is this possible at all, and if not, what's your suggested solutions? • What happens if I just add a second IP to a domain?

  We have two servers that are in constant sync. We have two applications that connect to them. Each app to different server. We devised a new version of those apps that will read a dns entry and get a list of IP addresses and try them in order. Now problem is old apps. We have noticed that some ppl still use the old ones even if we have released the new. If we were to add two IP's to each domain would they receive the IP's in the order we set them or random? Either way it will still work for us but I'm just curious. If first server goes offline will the client application try the other? To be noted for old version: Interruption does not affect in any way the continuation once connection is reestablished. Each communication is independent of previous ones. Applications connect at set intervals of time anywhere between 5 seconds to 1 hour. Connection is done simply using an http post to the URL in question.

  I'm trying to save and run my android project in eclipse, but every time I do, I get a pop up with the following message/error: Save Failed, Illegal Value -1. I'm not sure why i'm getting this error; I did just make some changes but none of them were extreme or major and it was working just a bit ago. The worst part is that i'm not receiving any kind of pointer, console or logcat, towards what is causing it. Has anyone experienced this before? If so, what can I do? Thanks in advance!

  In the Android docs on AlertDialog, it gives the following instruction and example for setting a custom view in an AlertDialog: If you want to display a more complex view, look up the FrameLayout called "body" and add your view to it: FrameLayout fl = (FrameLayout) findViewById(R.id.body); fl.add(myView, new LayoutParams(FILL_PARENT, WRAP_CONTENT)); First off, it's pretty obvious that add() is a typo and is meant to be addView(). I'm confused by the first line using R.id.body. It seems that it's the body element of the AlertDialog ... but I can't just enter that in my code b/c it gives a compile error. Where does R.id.body get defined or assigned or whatever?

  I get an error when build static lib with NDK on Windows platform: process_begin: CreateProcess( "PATH"\android-ndk-r8b\toolchains\arm-linux-androideabi-4.6\prebuilt\windows\bin\arm-linux-androideabi-ar.exe, "some other commands" ) failed. make (e=87): The parameter is incorrect. make: *** [obj/local/armeabi-v7a/staticlib.a] Error 87 make: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs.... All source files build successfully, and this error occur when compose object files. I don't get this error when build this project in Ubuntu, it occur only on Windows. I suppose I found the issue: second parameter of CreateProcess Win API function lpCommandLine has max length 32,768 characters. But in my case it is more than 32,768 characters. How I can solve this issue?

• How can I place a SurfaceView inside one or more scrollviews ?

  Hello, I'm making a 2D game for Android and I've encountered the following problem: - I have made a class that extends SurfaceView and draws my graphics (the size of the canvas that I use has to be 1664x864). This is ofcourse too big for the screen so I needed scrolling, I chose to use google's ScrollView and HorizontalScrollView (nested) for this, But whenever I add my SurfaceView to a ScrollView (whether it's 1 or 2) via AddChild it only draws the ScrollView , SurfaceCreated() isn't even called on the SurfaceView. (Drawing the SurfaceView in a layout without adding it to a ScrollView does work.) I realize that there are other options for scrolling like a screen-sized canvas and bitmap offsets but this would really be my preferred way to go. I would really appreciate some help to make this work.

• how mount userdata.img or userdata-qemu.img in osx

  Disk Utility in OSX easily mounts an SD Card image as a device, but not so the other img files. I want to get the database I just created in the Android Emulator off the drive and into my osx file system. I updated my system with qemu using macports but no combination I try succeeds. Anyone figured out how to do this? Obviously one way I can do this is run the app on my phone than mount the phone as a USB drive. But I don't wanna. I wanna get it off the drive the emulator uses :-) Thanks in advance, folks. Michael

• Handle existing instance of root activity when launching root activity again from intent filter

  Hi, I'm having difficulties handling multiple instances of my root (main) activity for my application. My app in question has an intent filter in place to launch my application when opening an email attatchment from the "Email" app. My problem is if I launch my application first through the the android applications screen and then launch my application via opening the Email attachment it creates two instances of my root activity. steps: Launch root activity A, press home Open email attachment, intent filter triggers launches root activity A Is it possible when opening the Email attachment that when the OS tries to launch my application it detects there is already an instance of it running and use that or remove/clear that instance?

  I have an HttpResponse object for a web request I just made. The response is in the JSON format, so I need to parse it. I can do it in an absurdly complex way, but it seems like there must be a better way. Is this really the best I can do?
