  • Help Repainting a Line

    - by serhio
    I am doing a custom control (inherited from VisualBasic.PowerPacks.LineShape), that should be painted like as standard one, but also having a Icon displayed near it. So, I just overrided OnPaint like this: protected override void OnPaint(System.Windows.Forms.PaintEventArgs e) { e.Graphics.DrawIcon(myIcon, StartPoint.X, StartPoint.Y); base.OnPaint(e); } Now, everything is OK, but when my control moves, the icon still remains drawn on the ancient place. Is there a way to paint it properly? The sample code for tests using Microsoft.VisualBasic.PowerPacks; using System.Windows.Forms; using System.Drawing; namespace LineShapeTest { /// /// Test Form /// public class Form1 : Form { IconLineShape myLine = new IconLineShape(); ShapeContainer shapeContainer1 = new ShapeContainer(); Panel panel1 = new Panel(); public Form1() { this.panel1.Dock = DockStyle.Fill; // load your back image here this.panel1.BackgroundImage = global::WindowsApplication22.Properties.Resources._13820t; this.panel1.Controls.Add(shapeContainer1); this.myLine.StartPoint = new Point(20, 30); this.myLine.EndPoint = new Point(80, 120); this.myLine.Parent = this.shapeContainer1; MouseEventHandler panelMouseMove = new MouseEventHandler(this.panel1_MouseMove); this.panel1.MouseMove += panelMouseMove; this.shapeContainer1.MouseMove += panelMouseMove; this.Controls.Add(panel1); } private void panel1_MouseMove(object sender, MouseEventArgs e) { if (e.Button == MouseButtons.Left) { myLine.StartPoint = e.Location; } } } /// /// Test LineShape /// public class IconLineShape : LineShape { Icon myIcon = SystemIcons.Exclamation; protected override void OnPaint(System.Windows.Forms.PaintEventArgs e) { e.Graphics.DrawIcon(myIcon, StartPoint.X, StartPoint.Y); base.OnPaint(e); } } } Nota Bene, for the lineShape: Parent = ShapeContainer Parent.Parent = Panel Update 1 TRACES In this variant of OnPaint, we have traces: protected override void OnPaint(System.Windows.Forms.PaintEventArgs e) { Graphics g = Parent.Parent.CreateGraphics(); g.DrawIcon(myIcon, StartPoint.X, StartPoint.Y); base.OnPaint(e); } Update 2 BLINKS In this variant of OnPaint, we have a blinking image: protected override void OnPaint(System.Windows.Forms.PaintEventArgs e) { Parent.Parent.Invalidate(this.Region, true); Graphics g = Parent.Parent.CreateGraphics(); g.DrawIcon(myIcon, StartPoint.X, StartPoint.Y); base.OnPaint(e); } Update 3: External Invalidation This variant works well, but... from exterior of IconLineShape class: private void panel1_MouseMove(object sender, MouseEventArgs e) { if (e.Button == MouseButtons.Left) { Region r = myLine.Region; myLine.StartPoint = e.Location; panel1.Invalidate(r); } } /// /// Test LineShape /// public class IconLineShape : LineShape { Icon myIcon = SystemIcons.Exclamation; Graphics parentGraphics; protected override void OnPaint(System.Windows.Forms.PaintEventArgs e) { parentGraphics.DrawIcon(myIcon, StartPoint.X, StartPoint.Y); base.OnPaint(e); } protected override void OnParentChanged(System.EventArgs e) { // Parent is a ShapeContainer // Parent.Parent is a Panel parentGraphics = Parent.Parent.CreateGraphics(); base.OnParentChanged(e); } } Even this resolves the problem of the test example, I need this control to be done inside the control, because I can't force the external "clients" of this control do not forget to save the old region and invalidate the parent each time changing a location...

  • Does anyone know of Telerik deals?

    - by Seagull
This may be the wrong forum to ask... But since there are so many Telerik fans here, I was wondering if anyone is aware of discount coupons or upcoming deals the company may have? I ask because VS2010 is coming, and I suspect they may therefore have deals released at a similar timeframe. I am a bit 'cheap' because I am just starting a one-man business...

  • Entity Relationship Multiple 1:1's

    - by Evan
I have an application where I have a generic object (table) called Hull. Each hull in the table is unique. I have another object that has three hulls, but they are specifically the Port_Hull, Center_Hull and Starboard_Hull. Rather than create a One to Many relationship, I was trying to create a one to one relationship for each one, but this results in numerous errors unless I make the relationship from Hull to Vessel one to many (which it is not). Any idea how I go about this, or should I abandon the concept and make the vessel to hull relationship one to many and deal with lists that always have three entries? p.s. Using uniqueidentifiers as many users can be adding records while disconnected. Hull Table HullID uniqueidentifier (primary key) plus bunch of hull data fields Vessel Table VesselID uniqueidentifier (primary key) MainHullID uniqueidentifier (tried as key and non-key) PortHullID uniqueidentifier StarboardHullID uniqueidentifier plus bunch of Vessel data fields

  • Nullables? Detecting them

    - by Aren B
Ok, im still a bit new to using nullable types. I'm writing a reflecting object walker for a project of mine, im getting to the point where im setting the value of a reflected property with the value i've retrieved from a reflected property. The value i've retrieved is still in object form, and it dawned on me, since i want my object walker to return null when it can't find something, (I thought about throwing an exception, but i want this to soft-fail when something's wrong). Anyway, some of the values im setting/getting are decimal bool etc... so it dawned on me that i should just NOT set a non-nullable value, but I realized I straight up don't know how to tell decimal from decimal? Is it enough to key on if the Type of the property im setting is inherited from ValueType?

  • Problem with Validate Anti Forgery

    - by Mikael Egnér
Hi! I have a problem regarding MVC Anti forgery token. When I do my authentication I have pseudo code like this: var user = userRepository.GetByEmail(email); System.Threading.Thread.CurrentPrincipal = HttpContext.Current.User = user; by doing so I'm able to get the current user in my code like this: var user = HttpContext.Current.User as EntityUser; This works fine until I add the [ValidateAntiForgeryToken] attribute to an action. When I add the attribute I get A required anti-forgery token was not supplied or was invalid. If I comment out this line: System.Threading.Thread.CurrentPrincipal = HttpContext.Current.User = user; The antiforgery validation works fine, but the I don't have my convenient way of getting my "EntityUser" from the HttpContext. Any ideas of how to work around this? Best regards Mikael

  • Appending data into Listview control results

    - by strakastroukas
    In my webpage i use the following in order filling the listview control <asp:ListView ID="ListView1" runat="server"> <layouttemplate> <asp:PlaceHolder id="itemPlaceholder" runat="server" /></layouttemplate> <ItemTemplate> <tr> <td><asp:Label ID="Label1" runat="server" Text = '<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Ans1") %>' Visible = '<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Ans1Visible") %>'></asp:Label> <br /> <asp:Label ID="Label2" runat="server" Text = '<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Ans2") %>' Visible = '<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Ans2Visible") %>'></asp:Label> <br /> <asp:Label ID="Label3" runat="server" Text = '<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Ans3") %>' Visible = '<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Ans3Visible") %>'></asp:Label> <br /> <asp:Label ID="Label4" runat="server" Text = '<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Ans4") %>' Visible = '<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Ans4Visible") %>'></asp:Label> <br /> <asp:Label ID="Label5" runat="server" Text = '<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Ans5") %>' Visible = '<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Ans5Visible") %>'></asp:Label> <br /> <asp:Label ID="Label6" runat="server" Text = '<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Ans6") %>' Visible = '<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Ans6Visible") %>'></asp:Label> </td> </tr> </ItemTemplate> </asp:ListView> Now i would like to add numbers to the labels before they are rendered. For example currently the data displayed are like Tennis Football Basketball Nfl Nba Polo and the output i would like to have is 1. Tennis 2. Football 3. Basketball 4. Nfl 5. Nba 6. Polo Could i use ListView1_ItemCreated or the ListView1_ItemDataBound event to achieve this? If that is true, could you point me a place to start?

  • Stack trace in website project, when debug = false

    - by chandmk
We have a website project. We are logging unhanded exceptions via a appdomain level exception handler. When we set debug= true in web.config, the exception log is showing the offending line numbers in the stack trace. But when we set debug = false, in web.config, log is not displaying the line numbers. We are not in a position to convert the website project in to webapplication project type at this time. Its legacy application and almost all the code is in aspx pages. We also need to leave the project in 'updatable' mode. i.e. We can't user pre-compile option. We are generating pdb files. Is there anyway to tell this kind of website projects to generate the pdb files, and show the line numbers in the stack trace?

  • Cyclic References and WCF

    - by Kunal
I have generated my POCO entities using POCO Generator, I have more than 150+ tables in my database. I am sharing POCO entities all across the application layers including the client. I have disabled both LazyLoading and ProxyCreation in my context.I am using WCF on top of my data access and business layer. Now, When I return a poco entity to my client, I get an error saying "Underlying connection was closed" I enabled WCF tracing and found the exact error : Contains cycles and cannot be serialized if reference tracking is disabled. I Looked at MSDN and found solutions like setting IsReference=true in the DataContract method atttribute but I am not decorating my POCO classes with DataContracts and I assume there is no need of it as well. I won't be calling that as a POCO if I decorate a class with DataContract attribute Then, I found solutions like applying custom attribute [CyclicReferenceAware] over my ServiceContracts. That did work but I wanted to throw this question to community to see how other people managed this and also why Microsoft didn't give built in support for figuring out cyclic references while serializing POCO classes

  • Application Server or Lightweight Container?

    - by Jeff Storey
Let me preface this by saying this is not an actual situation of mine but I'm asking this question more for my own knowledge and to get other people's inputs here. I've used both Spring and EJB3/JBoss, and for the smaller types of applications I've built, Spring (+Tomcat when needed) has been much simpler to use. However, when scaling up to larger applications that require things like load balancing and clustering, is Spring still a viable solution? Or is it time to turn to a solution like EJB3/JBoss when you start to get big enough to need that? I'm not sure if I've scoped the problem well enough to get a good answer, so please let me know. Thanks, Jeff

  • 3 tier application pattern suggestion

    - by Maxim Gershkovich
I have attempted to make my first 3 tier application. In the process I have run into one problem I am yet to find an optimal solution for. Basically all my objects use an IFillable interface which forces the implementation of a sub as follows Public Sub Fill(ByVal Datareader As Data.IDataReader) Implements IFillable.Fill This sub then expects the Ids from the datareader will be identical to the properties of the object as such. Me.m_StockID = Datareader.GetGuid(Datareader.GetOrdinal("StockID")) In the end I end up with a datalayer that looks something like this. Public Shared Function GetStockByID(ByVal ConnectionString As String, ByVal StockID As Guid) As Stock Dim res As New Stock Using sqlConn As New SqlConnection(ConnectionString) sqlConn.Open() res.Fill(StockDataLayer.GetStockByIDQuery(sqlConn, StockID)) End Using Return res End Function Mostly this pattern seems to make sense. However my problem is, lets say I want to implement a property for Stock called StockBarcodeList. Under the above mentioned pattern any way I implement this property I will need to pass a connectionstring to it which obviously breaks my attempt at layer separation. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I might be able to solve this problem or am I going about this the completely wrong way? Does anyone have any suggestions on how I might improve my implementation? Please note however I am deliberately trying to avoid using the dataset in any form.

  • 2 different routes on one page?

    - by Dejan.S
Hi I'm pretty new with MVC2 or MVC in general. If it's one thing I get caught up with it's routes. Like now I got this scenario. Im going from the regular site to Admin. My navigation is the same partialview on both I just do a check which data to render something like this. <% if (!Request.RawUrl.Contains("Admin")){%> <% foreach (var site in Model) { %> <%= Html.MenuItem(site.BelongSite, "Sida", "Site", site.BelongSite) %> | <%} %> <%} else {%> <%= Html.ActionLink("Konfig", "Konfigurera", "Admin") %> <% } %> My route looks like this routes.MapRoute( "Admin", // Route name "Admin/{action}/{name}", // URL with parameters new { controller = "Admin", action = "konfigurera", name = UrlParameter.Optional } // Parameter defaults ); On my View called Konfigurera I got Edit sites and they use the route above and it works great. The navigation tho dont get no action assigned to it. It's just <a href='Admin/'> The navigation is in the shared folder, and it is a strongly typed. Any Ideas? I been struggling with this for about a hour now Thanks for any input

  • How to determine the path of the current web site

    - by Velika2
I wanted to create a function which would return the path of the current web site. This is what I thought was working while running in the IDE: Public Shared Function WebsiteAbsoluteBaseUrl() As String Dim RequestObject As System.Web.HttpRequest = HttpContext.Current.Request Return "http://" & RequestObject.Url.Host & ":" & _ RequestObject.Url.Port & "/" & _ RequestObject.Url.Segments(1) End Function Does this seem like it should work? Is there a more straight forward way?

  • Localization with separate Language folders within Views

    - by Adrian
I'm trying to have specific folders for each language in Views. (I know this isn't the best way of doing it but it has to be this way for now) e.g. /Views/EN/User/Edit.aspx /Views/US/User/Edit.aspx These would both use the same controller and model but have different Views for each language. In my Global.asax.cs I have routes.MapRoute( "Default", // Route name "{language}/{controller}/{action}/{id}", // URL with parameters new { language = "en", controller = "Logon", action = "Index", id = UrlParameter.Optional }, // Parameter defaults new { language = @"en|us" } // validation ); This works ok but always points to the same View. If I put the path to the Lanagugage folder it works return View("~/Views/EN/User/Edit.aspx"); but clearly this isn't a very nice way to do it. Is there anyway to get MVC to look in the correct language folder? Thanks and again I know this isn't the best way of doing Localization but I can't use resource files.

  • Can Response.Redirect work in a private void MVC 2 Function?

    - by user54197
    I have a private void function set for some validation. Should my validation fail, I would like to redirect to another ActionResult and kill the process for the ActionResult that was being used. Response.Redirect("controllerName") does not help. Any ideas? [Accept(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult NerdDinner(string Name) { testName(Name); ... Return RedirectToAction("ActionResultAAA"); } private void testName(string name) { if(name == null) { //Response.Redirect("ActionResultBBB"); } }

  • How do I get many, but not all, property values from View to Presenter in WebFormsMvp?

    - by andrej351
Hey there, What is the best way to get a number of property values of a business object from the View to the Presenter in a WebFormsMvp page? Here is what i propose: The scenario is, I have a business object called Quote which i would like to load form the database, edit and then save. The Quote class has heaps of properties on it. The form is concerned with about 20 of these properties. I have existing methods to load/save a Quote object to/from the database. I now need to wire this all together. So, in the View_Load handler on my presenter i intend to do something like this: public void View_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { View.Model.Quote = quoteService.Read(quoteId); } And then bind all my controls as follows: <asp:TextBox ID="TotalPriceTextBox" runat="server" Text="<%# Model.Quote.TotalPrice %>" /> All good, the data is on the screen. The user then makes a bunch of changes and hits a "Submit" button. Here is where I'm unsure. I create a class called QuoteEventArgs exposing the 20 properties the form is able to edit. When the View raises the Submit button's event, I set these properties to the values of the controls in the code behind. Then raise the event for the presenter to respond to. The presenter re-loads the Quote object from the database, sets all the properties and saves it to the database. Is this the right way to do this? If not, what is? Cheers, Andrej.

  • What are windows IPC methods

    - by Quandary
Question: I have a dll that I can load in another program. Now the dll has access to all data/functions in the other program. Which technology can I use that now an external program can send data/commands to that dll, to steer the other program, or get data from it ? I mean, in the past that meant DDE, I think that was back in Windows 3.11/95 times. What can I use today? Which one is easiest ? Which one is fastest?

  • Error Messaged and Error Code design

    - by Ved
We are designing set of web services which will return XML string in response. These are RESTFul services so I will have to send exception inside element. I am planing to design set of Error code which can help me determine where level occured just by looking at the code. For Example 1000 - Application Level 2000 - DB level 3000 - Network level so if I have error message then I can know right away that this was an application level error and it came from 1st business module. I am not very experience in this so I would love to here your thoughts and criticism. Thanks

  • Why would a error get thrown inside my try-catch?

    - by George Johnston
I'm pushing a copy of our application over to a new dev server (IIS7) and the application is blowing up on a line inside of a try-catch block. It doesn't happen locally, it actually obey's the rules of a try-catch block, go figure. Any idea why this would be happening? Shouldn't it just be failing silently? Is there something environmental I need to enable/disable? Exception Details: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Line 229: Try Line 230: Here >> : _MemoryStream.Seek(6 * StartOffset, 0) Line 232: _MemoryStream.Read(_Buffer, 0, 6) Line 233: Catch ex As IOException End Try Although it doesn't matter for answering this question, I thought I would mention that it's third party code for the Geo IP lookup.
