  In my class, I want to use a dictionary with the following declaration: Dictionary<string, T[]> Since the operations of my class are exactly the same for all generic types, I do not wish to define my class as generic (which means I would have to create a separate instance of my class for each generic type I insert into the dictionary ?). One alternative I'm attempting is to use Dictionary<string, object> instead: public void Add<T>(string str, T value) { // Assuming key already exists var array = (T[]) dictionary[str]; array[0] = value; } However, when iterating over the dictionary, how do I cast the object value back to an array ? foreach(string strKey in dictionary.Keys) { var array = (T[]) dictionary[strKey]; // How to cast here ? //... array[0] = default(T); } Thanks.

  I'm trying to set up a Rails Template that would allow for comprehensive set-up of a specific Rails app. Using Pratik Naik's overview (http://m.onkey.org/2008/12/4/rails-templates), I was able to set up a couple of scaffolds and models, with a line that looks something like this ... generate("scaffold", "post", "title:string", "body:string") I'm now trying to add in Delayed Jobs, which normally has a migration file that looks like this: create_table :delayed_jobs, :force => true do |table| table.integer :priority, :default => 0 # Allows some jobs to jump to the front of the queue table.integer :attempts, :default => 0 # Provides for retries, but still fail eventually. table.text :handler # YAML-encoded string of the object that will do work table.text :last_error # reason for last failure (See Note below) table.datetime :run_at # When to run.   Hi guys, I have started to work on a site without url rewriting. Now, the request is to use friendly urls so i started to use Intelligencia.UrlRewriter. So no longer return "~/Site/Categorii.aspx?category=m1" but "~/Site/Categorii/m1" without beeing needed to modify its structure? I mean, i have about 30 methods like the one from the above; it would be extremely helpfull if i can be guided to use a regex at the output of the methods iso modifying the url construction...   seems like a call to $this->_redirect('*/*/myaction',$myargs); does not properly escape the arguments so if $myargs=array(p1=>'string that has + or / within it') the created URL will be something like: ..../myaction/?p1/string%20that%20has%20+%20or%20/%20within%20it causing the getParams collection on the action to have p1 with value 'string that has or ' <- plus sign missing and value broken and ' within it' with no value or something similar. is there any standard way I should handle the arguments before passing them to _redirect ?   Hello, please, does any of you knows and can share an easy/clean way to find a substring within a string, but ignoring some specified characters to find it. I think an example would explain things better: string: "Hello, -this- is a string" substring to find: "Hello this" chars to ignore: "," and "-" found the substring, result: "Hello, -this" Using Regex it's not a requirement for me, just added the tag because it feels related.

• Why won't C# accept a (seemingly) perfectly good Sql Server CE Query?

Logically, I would assume that I have erred somewhere with the syntax involved in parameterizing this query, however, my double and triple checking (as well as, my past experience at doing this) insists that everything looks fine here. Have I messed up the syntax involved with parameterizing this query, or is something else at play here that I am overlooking? I know I can tell you, for sure, as it has been previously tested, that the value I am getting from the query string is, indeed, what I would expect it to be, but as there really isn't much else on the .cshtml page yet, that is about all I can tell you.

• Java: Generics, Class.isaAssignableFrom, and type casting

  This method that uses method-level generics, that parses the values from a custom POJO, JXlistOfKeyValuePairs (which is exactly that). The only thing is that both the keys and values in JXlistOfKeyValuePairs are Strings. This method wants to taken in, in addition to the JXlistOfKeyValuePairs instance, a Class<T> that defines which data type to convert the values to (assume that only Boolean, Integer and Float are possible). It then outputs a HashMap with the specified type for the values in its entries.   Hi, am new to Json so a little green. I have a Rest Based Service that returns a json string; {"treeNode":[{"id":"U-2905","pid":"R","userId":"2905"}, {"id":"U-2905","pid":"R","userId":"2905"}]} I have been playing with the Json.net and trying to Deserialize the string into Objects etc. I wrote an extention method to help. public static T DeserializeFromJSON<T>(this Stream jsonStream, Type objectType) { T result; using (StreamReader reader = new StreamReader(jsonStream)) { JsonSerializer serializer = new JsonSerializer(); try { result = (T)serializer.Deserialize(reader, objectType); } catch (Exception e) { throw; } } return result; } I was expecting an array of treeNode[] objects. • ASP.NET MVC 2 - Checkboxes

  I'm using string[] roles = Roles.GetAllRoles() to get a string[] of all the ASP.NET membership roles for my application. I'm sending the roles to my view in ViewData and using a foreach to create a set of Checkboxes using <%: Html.CheckBox("RoleCheckBox") %>. There are 3 roles and my view does render 3 checkboxes. When I do a View/Source, I see the checkboxes and their corresponding hidden tags. They all have the same, so there are 6 tags with the name "RoleCheckBox" - 3 that render the checkboxes and 3 that are hidden. The problem comes when I post the form back to my controller and bind the results - something like public ActionResult Create(Person person, string[] RoleCheckBox). I get FOUR strings and I have no idea where the fourth string ("false") is coming from. I could do some testing by trying various combinations of checks to see which one (hopefully) doesn't change and ignore it but that's just ugly. Does anyone know why this would be happening?   Hello I've been looking for a method to strip my XML content of apostrophes (') like: <name> Jim O'Connor</name> since my DBMS is complaining of receiving those. But it generates way too much queries, because I need to save lots of settings at a time, and it really affects perfomance. Is there a way to do this using one update query?

• Improve heavy work in a loop in multithreading

  I have a little problem with my data processing. public void ParseDetails() { for (int i = 0; i < mListAppInfo.Count; ++i) { ParseOneDetail(i); } } For 300 records, it usually takes around 13-15 minutes. I've tried to improve by using Parallel.For() but it always stop at some point. public void ParseDetails() { Parallel.For(0, mListAppInfo.Count, i => ParseOneDetail(i)); } In method ParseOneDetail(int index), I set an output log for tracking the record id which is under processing.   I have a JComboBox on my Panel. One of the popup menu items is 'More' and when I click that I fetch more menu items and add them to the existing list. After this, I wish to keep the popup menu open so that the user realizes that more items have been fetched however, the popup closes.   I am writing a dirty little extension method for HtmlHelper so that I can say something like HtmlHelper.WysiwygFor(lambda) and display the CKEditor. I have this working currently but it seems a bit more cumbersome than I would prefer. I am hoping that there is a more straight forward way of doing this. • Php/ODBC encoding problem

  I use ODBC to connect to SQL Server from PHP. In PHP I read some string (nvarchar column) data from SQL Server and then want to insert it to mysql database. When I try to insert such value to mysql database table I get this mysql error: Incorrect string value: '\xB3\xB9ow...' for column 'name' at row 1 For string with all ASCII characters everything is fine, the problem occurs when non-ASCII characters (from some European languages) exist. So, in more general terms: there is a Unicode string in MS SQL Server database, which is retrieved by PHP trough ODBC. Then it is put in sql insert query (as value for utf-8 varchar column) which is executed for mysql database. Can someone explain to me what is happening in this situation in terms of encoding? At which step what character encoding convertions may take place? I use: PHP 5.2.5, MySQL5.0.45-community-nt, MS Sql Server 2005.

I have the following custom server control: [ParseChildren(true)] public class MyControl : WebControl, INamingContainer { [PersistenceMode(PersistenceMode.InnerProperty)] public string MyProperty { get;set; } } It works perfectly with the following mark-up: <acme:MyControl runat="sever"> <MyProperty>Test String</MyProperty> </acme:MyControl> But if I try to localise the property string, I get a parse error: <acme:MyControl runat="sever"> <MyProperty><%=(string)GetLocalResourceObject("MyResourceKey") %></MyProperty> </acme:MyControl> Even if I cast the type, ASP.NET indicates that the property cannot accept controls as children. How should the expression look like if I want to localise it? I can make the property accessible as an attribute of the control's tag, but I prefer the mark-up above, it looks more elegant and clean.
