    I am using an @Resource annotation in a class instantiated in a ServletContextListener's contextInitialized(...) method, but the member is always null. Here's my sample code.     You can use the URL helper in Code Igniter to load CSS and Javascript with the base_url() method, but what if you have images dynamically being placed into your HTML via javascript? for example in my javascript file I've got var arrowimages={down:['downarrowclass', 'images/down.png', 23], right:['rightarrowclass', 'images/right.png']} and those images will be placed into whatever menu item I've specified has a drop down menu. but that file is a .js file so obviously the server won't load php inside of it. so, how can I set the base url for the JS?   • Why is PLINQ slower than LINQ for this code?

    First off, I am running this on a dual core 2.66Ghz processor machine. I am not sure if I have the .AsParallel() call in the correct spot. I tried it directly on the range variable too and that was still slower. I don't understand why...   • How do I enable code coverage in Visual Studio 2005?

    I have looked at this question; http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2872158/ and the F1 page, but that doesn't help me much. I have set the profiling on and rebuilt, but I can't find the 'Data and Diagnostics' page, or see anything which resembles a coverage data file in the project folder. What I am trying to do get an equivalent to 'gcov' on a Linux platform, get a chart of how much code is being missed by the test suite. I'm using Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition and UnitTest++ as the test framework. Any help would be most welcome.

    I have created an windows service. I want to open some windows based application from this service. But my windows service is unable to start desktop applications. To enable the access I had to do the following steps: Opened the administrative tool "Services" Right clicked on my service and had to select "properties" Then in the "Log On" tab, selected "Allow service to interact with desktop". After that my service can open desired windows based processes. Can I configure my windows service in the code (C#) to access the desktop so that I won't have to change the access permission manually after installation?

    i have a scenario where i draw a network and set all it's paraments on swing based gui, after that i have to translate this network into a python based script which another framework reads and realize this network in the form of virtual machines. Now for now in order to realize the drawn network on java GUI here is what i am doing: I simply take the information from GUI and creates a new python file like the one above using java code and then run this file in mininet, which works fine somehow. I want to know, is this the correct and robust way how i am doing this or should i be looking further into java-python bridge like scenarios to be more effective or so as to say more professional.

    I am trying to get the HTTP status code number from the HttpWebResponse object returned from a HttpWebRequest. I was hoping to get the actual numbers (200, 301,302, 404, etc.) rather than the text description. ("Ok", "MovedPermanently", etc.) Is the number buried in a property somewhere in the response object? Any ideas other than creating a big switch function? Thanks. I was wondering if somehow I could make a public void that would just make the form pop up and ask the user 3 to 5 questions and then once it asks the maximum number of questions, to close and then have a method that returns true if the user won, or false if they didn't. But I literally have no idea how to do that. Edit: So I know a for loop can make code run more than once. But the problem I'm having is, is that I don't know how to make it so that the trivia game asks 3 to 5 questions BEFORE returning something.

    I understand the process of using a 3rd party library to access functions outside of my code base, but how do i actually set up Visual Studio 2005 to include them in the project. I have a 3rd party library with some headers, some cpp's, and some .lib files. In the projects properties I add the top level external library directory as an include directory, I add the additional library directory at the same level put this is project properties too. In the .cpp file where I use the functions, do I put the #include in its header file? In the top level projects header file? in the cpp? I've tried all that, but I get "unresolved external symbol"... grrrrrrrrrrrrr

The desired result is to intercept this instantiation and perform an operation on the public connection that is opened in the ctor of System.Web.DataAccess.SqlConnectionHolder before letting execution continue. Is this possible. If so, an brief example would be appreciated.

    I want to check some things about the state of the session, the user agent, etc, and possibly take action and return a special view BEFORE a controller method gets a chance to execute. For example: Most common: User requests Home/Index System checks to make sure x != 0. x does not equal zero, so the Home/Index controller executes like normal. But, sometimes: User requests Home/Index System checks to make sure x != 0. x DOES equal zero. The user must be notified and the requested controller action cannot be allowed to execute. I think this involves the use of ActionFilters. But I have read about them and I don't understand if I can preempt the controller method and return a view before it executes. I am sure I could execute code before the controller method runs, but how do I keep it from running in some instances and return a custom view, or direct to a different controller method?

  • IE Information Bar, download file...how do I code for this?

    I have a web page (asp.net) that compiles a package then redirects the user to the download file via javascript (window.location = ....). This is accompanied by a hard link on the page in case the redirect doesn't work - emulating the download process on many popular sites. When the IE information bar appears at the top due to restricted security settings, and a user clicks on it to download the file, it redirects the user to the page, not the download file, which refreshes the page and removes the hard link. What is the information bar doing here? Shouldn't it send the user to the location of the redirect? Am I setting something wrong in the headers of the download response, or doing something else wrong to send the file in the first place?
