• Check IMAP via PHP for mesages in order to interact with them via PHP?

  I use Google to administer my e-mails and I run Nginx + PHP. If I want to check incoming mail to interact with each message subject (to trigger an action), as far as I know, I have only two options: 1) access Google via IMAP PHP / cron job or 2) forward the messages to my server where I can have a subdomain set to pipe the messages to a PHP script. Frankly, I'd preffer the first option because I have already all the IMAP functions tested and done. And if the second solution is really the best, I'd preffer to use Postfix. However, id like some light grom somebody who has already browsed this unknown waters. Thank you.

• ubuntu12.04 hangs at checking battery state

  My 12.04 system hangs at "Checking battery state". At this stage, no commands work eg: ctrl+alt+f1, alt+f5. I ran recovery mode, I ran the command sudo mount -o remount, rw sudo dpkg-reconfigure gdm and gdm was the only one installed so I didn't get a GUI screen. I have an integrated graphics card "Intel Corporation Mobile 4 chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07)". So I cannot install nvidia drivers as everyone else suggests. I have gone through several similar questions but everyone suggests reconfiguring gdm or reinstalling graphic drivers. I did sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade to get the latest x-swat drivers. The system still hung at the same line. The other option is to reinstall ubuntu, which is out of the question, since we have a very specific install for our project where the settings are very hard to duplicate. Suggestions/Comments welcome.

• Why my AD domain doesn't work on my laptop

  I have installed Windows Server 2008 R2 on a virtual machine with a bridged network card and installed Active Directory. I configured it and when I try to connect my laptop to the domain name, in this case, creationsmicroweb.ca (doesn't exist, don't try, for local only), I can't get connected. My laptop just doesn't see it. I don't know why! There's a resume of my config: Domain Name: creationsmicroweb.ca Forest: new, principal domain controller IP: Fixed (192.168.1.100) DNS Name: none (just for local, I ignored them) NETBIOS name: MICROWEB If someone as found why, please help me! This is for my business that I'm starting and I can't find why it doesn't work!

• Meraki's Accounting-Requests to RADIUS server

  I'm running a RADIUS server with some Meraki APs, the process of Authentications is fine... But it seems that the Meraki Cloud Controller is just sending the authentication packets and not the accounting requests. I've tested the RADIUS sending accounting requests with the radclient tool (locally) and it worked. I think that maybe my RADIUS server is ignoring the accounting requests from the MCC because there are some Vendor Specific Attributes that my RADIUS doesn't know. should I add a Meraki's dictionary to my RADIUS configurations? I'm kind of desperate, any idea?

• Experience with MQ File Transfer Edition?

  We've got several processes that move files across servers - SFTP, FTP, SCP; Windows, Linux, AIX; there is a workflow component (usually require a control file with filenames and hash values to move a batch of related files). The action is often initiated on our servers to get the files, so we need to make sure they're done being written. We have some homegrown scripts to do this, but they don't always work properly, and troubleshooting, maintenance, and log review is not easy this way. There's a lot of servers, and our scripts don't have central logging or a dashboard/console/etc. We're looking into commercial products to do this. Has anyone used MQ File Transfer Edition? Another team in our company is using Aspera, does anyone have any thoughts on that, or other favored products? I have no idea what our budget is for this, yet. Just trying to get a handle on the product space from the perspective of other admins.

• Creating a new Active Directory account with an InfoPath form

  I am setting up a business partner portal in our Sharepoint server. There will be an AD group with permissions limited to viewing and possibly contributing to the specific business partner site and employees of our business partners will have accounts created for them as needed. Now we would like to let our business development group(BDG) have control over the partner accounts. Ideally they should be able to add and delete accounts and change permissions on them. The BDG are not domain admins so we don't want to give them access to the domain controller. We want to create an Infopath form that will allow them to do all this. Is it possible to create and manage AD accounts from within an Infopath form on the sharepoint server? I searched this site and MSDN and can not find anything specifically related to my question.

• Group policy to disable notifications of particular errors?

  How do i disable the notifications of particular errors? A little background to my issue. During the installation of the Kaspersky, it disables all the windows firewall for all except the domain. I have remedied this by creating an offline policy in Kaspersky which enables the Kaspersky firewall when out of the office (ie not connected to the office network). The problem now is that users in the office now see a notification showing that the firewall is disabled even though it’s enabled in all scenarios. It’s just that work and home show as disabled when the clients are connected to the office LAN. • Cross-Forest Trust

  I am looking at testing a cross-domain trust we can have two domain controllers (with different forests and domain names) setup so we can move everyone onto the new domain. We do NOT run exchange on site and we do not have any links to O365 to AD currently. Onto the problem: I have setup two DCs in a Virtual Machine: They are on the same network 192.168.0.* The Windows 2003 server: Name: OLDSRVR "Clone" of our current Domain Controller IP: 192.168.0.1 Domain: internal.test.com The Windows 2012 server: Name: ADCTEST01 Brand new domain setup from scratch separate to internal.test.com Domain: internal.test2.com IP: 192.168.0.2 OLDSRVR can only see ADCTEST if it has dynamic IP set. If I set a static IP it cannot see it. If I try using the dynamic IP and try to join it gets to the end then complains "??The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed" Any ideas?

  Hi, when in console, if I press a key, some interrupt controller sends code of that key to CPU, which looks into some table and than represent that keypress by printing some charracter to stdout. But, is keyboard sending an ASCII code of that key, or just some standardised code? Since there is so many languages and extra characters, OS must further translate its code into some character according to user selected scheme, I guess. I ask, becouse I am from Czech Republic, and we use some characters that do not exists in standart ASCII code. So I was thinking, if I enter this character into a console, and then print it, lets say in C++ using cin and cout, and I have set locale to Czech, stdin must actually send some non-ASCII code of the character I pressed to input stream. Am I right?

• Launch apps or run commands on Windows via shortcuts

  Is it possible to register shortcuts on Windows 7 so that regardless where you are looking (Desktop, a folder etc) the shortcut gets "heard" and the appropriate action is performed. For example, creating a shortcut in the System32 folder which will work if you use Run with the shortcut's name, will not work if you set a key combination when focus is set on the Desktop for example. Is there a native way of registering top-level shortcuts or even an application for enabling this? Example of things I want keyboard shortcuts for: open a specific folder like %path% create a new .js file in the current folder launch an application eventually with its path set to the current location if the app supports this (e.g. command prompt) Thank you.

• Can't add HKCU entries via GroupPolicy Preferences

  2008 R2, XP and W7 64 bit workstations. Trying to add/modify two registry entries for Lync2010 for each user. Created using GP Management, User Configuration, Preferences, Registry. If the two registry entries already exist, then the policy works correctly. If they don't exist, nothing changes. GPReults reports it was successful. If I import the .reg file manually, it also works, so I don't believe it is a rights issue. I have tried the Update, Create, and Replace as the Action. I am not familiar with ADM templates, is that the only way to do it?

• Multiple test Active Directory envirovments hand in hand with production domain controllers

  What's the best approach of having multiple test environments next to production one? We have multiple programming teams that build solutions that use Active Directory very often. We have tried different approaches, starting with their own domain controllers (in same subnet), or additional OU's in our production AD that the team gets control over and can create/delete accounts within that one OU. We thought of possible 4 solutions: Setting up separate OU's in ou production env. Creating subdomains for our contoso.com domain like test.contoso.com, something.contoso.com and delegating control to the teams (would we need additional DC's or the two that we have already would be enough to hold this? Setting up additional test domain controler that has a trust to our main domain and all teams can use the test domain controler as they please. Setting up single domain controller for every team/project. We're taking in consideration amount of resources needed, security (for example having multiple domain controlers with multiple passwords may lead users to use simpler passwords) and overall best practices for this scenario.

  I've read quite a few questions on SuperUser of people having laptop shutdown problems but mine is different. My laptop specs: Intel Core i7 3610QM (IvyBridge) NVIDIA GT630M 2GB and Intel GMA4000 8GB RAM Windows 7 64 Bit My laptop occasionally shuts down when playing FarCry 3. It's around 5 months old. I've played games like Crysis and it never shuts down unexpectedly. Since I experienced this shut down recently, I decided for GPU-Z to log the temperatures. The final log value at the time of shutdown were thus: GPU Core Clock [MHz] - 797.3 GPU Memory Clock [MHz] - 896.8 GPU Temperature [°C] - 89.0 GPU Load [%] - 99 Memory Controller Load [%] - 36 Video Engine Load [%] - 0 Memory Usage (Dedicated) [MB] - 535 Memory Usage (Dynamic) [MB] - 53 VDDC [V] - 1.0620 My drivers are up-to-date and I didn't encounter any BSODs at the time of shut down.   I just moved my projects into a new workstation. I'm having trouble getting my Apache installation to acknowledge my .htaccess files. This is my /etc/apache2/conf.d/dev config file: <Directory /home/codemonkey/dev/myproject/> Options -Indexes AllowOverride All Order Allow,Deny Deny from all </Directory> I know the config file is being included by Apache because it complains if I put erroneous syntax in it (Action 'configtest' fails). My project is reachable through Apache by a symlink in the /var/www directory. The server is running with my user and group, so it has my permissions. My entire dev folder has permissions set to 770 recursively. Despite all this, I'm still getting an indexed display of my project folder when I visit http://localhost/myproject. Why isn't the above config making it impossible to view the folder in the browser?

• Installing a new SQL Server instance fails

  I've previously in my setup installed SQL Server Express 2005. Now I've switched to SQL Server Express 2008. I updated the command line parameters to those documented for the latter. If the comp already has SQL Server Express 2008 installed, my installer should create a new instance. The command line parameters are as follows: /ACTION=Install /FEATURES=SQLEngine /QS /INSTANCENAME=ABCD /SECURITYMODE=SQL /SAPWD=CunningPassword The requested instance name does not exist on the target machine. This will end in an error -2068643838. The logs show the following error: "No features were installed during the setup execution. The requested features may already be installed." If I remove the /QS parameter and try to install interactively, I'll get as far as the Feature Selection page. The UI shows three options, Instance Features, Shared Features and Redistributable Features. Whatever I select, clicking Next results in the same error (There are validation errors on this page). Any ideas anyone?

• 4TB HGST SATA drive only shows 1.62 TB in Windows Server 2012

  I'm using a Supermicro X9SRE-3F motherboard with the latest BIOS and 2x 4TB drives connected to the on-board SATA controller. If I set the BIOS to RAID and create a RAID 1 array, the array shows up in the BIOS as 3.6TB. However when I boot Windows (on a separate RAID 1 array), the 4TB drives show up individually in disk manager as 2x 1.62TB drives. I could use Windows 2012 to set up software RAID 1, but when I set the BIOS back to 2x individual drives, they still show up in Windows as 2x 1.62TB drives. How do I access the full capacity of these drives? Thanks, Brian Bulaw

  Hi I have a domain controller that I have installed active directory onto and have set up an account that I want to use for my SQL server installation on another computer that is linked onto the domain. I can search for the account in active directory and I am able to select it into the add new user section in MSSMS, however, when I click add I get 'Windows NT user or group 'DOMAIN\user' not found. Check the name again. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 15401) I have googled the Error code and I havent found a solution that has fixed the error. If you have any help I would be greatful Thanks :)

• Twitter 2 for Android crash every time I try uploading multi photos [closed]

  Hello, I'm using the new Twitter 2 on Android 2.1. Whenever I hit the button which enables me to upload multiple photos in a single tweet, I always get the error "The application Camera (process com.sonyericsson.camera) has stopped unexpectidly. Please try again". However, uploading a single photo using the camera button in Twitter have no problem, it works. My phone is Sony Ericsson x10 mini pro. I tried signing out and back in, same result. Anything I can do to fix this?   I found a guide for setting up a bridge in Fedora and was trying this: $ nmcli connection delete p33p1 $ nmcli connection add con-name br0 type bridge ifname br0 autoconnect yes $ nmcli connection add con-name p33p1 type bridge-slave ifname p33p1 master br0 autoconnect yes I found that $ nmcli con delete uuid [uuid here] accomplished the first step. nmcli connection does not have an 'add' action in this distribution. Please help me do the 2nd and 3rd steps. Context: I am trying to set up a virtual machine. I believe this is a necessary step for the VM to access my network and the internet. Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong! BTW, I am a linux newbie, tech oldie. Thank you.

• nvidia twinview in ubuntu with large resolutions not working

  i bought an external monitor and can't get it to work properly with my laptop screen. my laptop screen has a resolution of 1920x1200 and the new monitor has 1920x1080 when i open nvidia-settings and select the maximum resolution for each of the screen, one screen will always stay blank. if i select a smaller resolution for one of the two it will work. 1920x1200 + 1440x900 = works 1680x1050 + 1920x1080 = works 1920x1200 + 1920x1080 = doesn't work (but that's what i want to have!) my graphics card is an 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation Quadro FX 360M (rev a1) (output from lspci), driver is proprietary nvidia driver, operating system is ubuntu. any help greatly apreciated

Short of pausing the Windows Update service, is there anyway to stop this restart from happening? ---update--- Looks like the "restart" is all talk and no action! The time has gone and I am presented with this: So, it goes along with the top answer here (which I shall shortly accept) --- update again--- It did reset!!! My battery went critical and it turned itself off, I turned it back on (out of suspend) when it was plugged in, I logged in and the first thing it did was automatically restart - closing my open tabs in Chrome :( Oh well...

  We have some workstations that will not import hardware inventory into the SCCM 2007 database. What I've done: Client - verified workstation object is discovered in SCCM - installed ccm client on workstation - manually ran hardware inventory action - verifed Inventory report was sent successfully "Successfully sent report Destination:mp:MP_HinvEndpoint, ID ..... - watched file on client enter and exit temp folder on client. - successfully ran MP Spy to verify client communicates with server - uninstalled client, deleted ccm and ccmsetup folders and reinstalled. Server - no entries in MP_Hinv.log file that coorespond with time stamp of workstation - no entries in dataldr.log file that coorespond with time stamp of workstation Where are these files going? All T/S blogs expect entries in these logs. This is driving me crazy.

  I'm attempting to copy a directory tree, maintaining its ownership information using the command: XCOPY S:\ProjectsDefault\Tempalte\admin S:\Projects\00\111\admin /S /E /I /O the command gives an Access denied error message, and while it does create the directory tree, the ownership and ACL information is not copied. This is being done on a Windows 2008 R2 Server which has mounted a share from a Windows 2003 R2 domain controller. The user has been been granted full access to the share and is a member of the Domain Admins security group. Oddly enough, the command does work if performed on a different (Windows 2003 R2 Server). (It also works if done using the Domain Administrator account on the 2008 server.)

• Replacing sick NTP server source and re-synching (with internal time currently 2 minutes late)

  One of the external NTP servers (the primary one--currently) we're using as source seems to not be responding to NTP calls. Unfortunately, on our core router (Cisco 6509), the NTP functionality hasn't switched to the secondary NTP external server as it was expected. As a result, our core router which is pretty much our main internal NTP source is 2 minutes late. I'm planning to fix the external router issue by making the external NTP source be the one currently working. I'm wondering, how much will a 2 minute change affect my users and services? Specially since these days, we're heavily relying on certificate-based authentication. We're a Windows/Cisco shop.
