• Put/Post json not working with ODataController if Model has Int64

See the inner exception for more details." I looked at the DataServiceContext to see if it would work and it does but it uses XML to communicate between the restful services and the client. Which would work but DataServiceContext does not give the level of messaging that HttpRequestMessage/HttpResponseMessage gives me for informing users on the errors/missing information with their post. We are planning on supporting multiple devices from our restful services platform but that requires that I can use NewtonSoft Json as well as Microsoft's DataContractJsonSerializer if need be. My question is for a restful service standpoint - is there a way I can configure/code the restful services to take in the AssignedNbr as in JSON as without the quotes. Or from a JSON standpoint is their a way I can get the JSON built without getting into the serializing business nor do I want our clients to have deal with custom serializers if they want to write their own apps against our restful services. Any suggestions? Thanks.

The issue is that when I call users.Except(matches) The matching users are not being excluded at all! I am expecting 6 users ut "excludes" contains all 8 users instead. Since all I'm doing in GetMatchingUsers(IEnumerable users) is taking the IEnumerable and just returning the IUsers whose ID's match( 2 IUsers in this case), my understanding is that by default "Except" will use reference equality for comparing the objects to be excluded. Is this not how "Except" behaves? What is even more interesting is that if I materialize the objects using .ToList() and then get the matching users, and call "Except", everything works as expected! Like so: IEnumerable users = doc.Element("Users").Elements("User").Select (u = new User { ID = (int)u.Attribute("id"), Name = (string)u.Attribute("name") } ).OfType().ToList(); //explicity materializing all objects by calling ToList() var matches = User.GetMatchingUsers(users); var excludes = users.Except(matches); // excludes now contains 6 users as expected I don't see why I should need to materialize objects for calling "Except" given that its defined on IEnumerable? Any suggesstions / insights would be much appreciated.

It seems that assigning a "ref parameter" to a field loses the reference. Is there any way to keep hold of the reference when assigning to a field? Thanks.

  Hi What I mean by this question is, when you need to store or pass a URL around, using a string is probably a bad practice, and a better approach would be to use a URI type. However it is so easy to make complex things more complex and bloated. So if I am going to be writing to a file on disk, do I pass it a string, as the file name and file path, or is there a better type that will be better suited to the requirement? This code seems to be clunky, and error prone?   Hello I've been looking for a method to strip my XML content of apostrophes (') like: <name> Jim O'Connor</name> since my DBMS is complaining of receiving those.   I use ODBC to connect to SQL Server from PHP. In PHP I read some string (nvarchar column) data from SQL Server and then want to insert it to mysql database. When I try to insert such value to mysql database table I get this mysql error: Incorrect string value: '\xB3\xB9ow...' for column 'name' at row 1 For string with all ASCII characters everything is fine, the problem occurs when non-ASCII characters (from some European languages) exist. So, in more general terms: there is a Unicode string in MS SQL Server database, which is retrieved by PHP trough ODBC. Then it is put in sql insert query (as value for utf-8 varchar column) which is executed for mysql database. Can someone explain to me what is happening in this situation in terms of encoding? At which step what character encoding convertions may take place? I use: PHP 5.2.5, MySQL5.0.45-community-nt, MS Sql Server 2005.

• Need help helping in converting jquery, ajax, json and asp.net

  I am tying out this tutorial, http://www.ezzylearning.com/tutorial.aspx?tid=5869127. It works perfectly. What I am now trying to do is to host the aspx contents as html file. This html file is hosted on my wampserver which is on my laptop. The asp.net code hosted on my test server. • Why does grails use hsqldb when I ask for mysql?

  I'm following the racetrack example from Jason Rudolph's book at InfoQ, using grails-1.2.1. I got up to the part where I was to switch from hsqldb to mysql. I think I've deleted every reference to hsqldb in the DataSource.groovy file, but I get an exception and the stack trace shows it's still using hsqldb. (I don't think groovy's connected to mysql yet.) Things I've checked: mysql-connector-java-5.1.6.jar is in lib directory. I've tried grails clean I tried putting the dataSource info in the development environment (I haven't graduated to test or prod yet), but it seemed to make no difference. The stdout shows I'm using development env. I've googled for solutions, but the only solution I've found is when people don't change the test or production environments.

• Is it bad practice to change state inside of an if statement?

However, my coworkers disliked this very much. Is this a harmful practice? Is there any reason to do it?

  Hi all, i need to generate the same number of text files as the xml files i have. Within the text files, i need the title and maybe some other tags of it. I can generate text files with the elements i wanted but not all xml files can be generated. Only some of them are generated. Something might be wrong with my parser so help out please thanks. • Why is the dictionary debug visualizer less useful in Visual Studio 2010?

  I was debugging in Visual Studio 2010, which we just installed and trying to look at a dictionary in the quick watch window. I see Keys and Values, but drilling into those shows the Count and Non-Public members, Non-Public members continues the trail and I never see the values in the dictionary. I can run test.Take(10) and see the values, but why should I have to do that. I don't have VS 2008 installed anymore to compare, but it seems that I could debug a dictionary much easier.   Hi, I have this array: string[,] productData = new string[5,7]; I bind it to a repeater and a call a method like: <img src="<%# getPhoto1WithReplace(Container.ItemIndex) %>" which is defined like: public String getPhoto1WithReplace(Object itemIndex) { int intItemIndex = Int32.Parse(itemIndex.ToString()); if (productData[intItemIndex, 3] != null) return this.ResolveUrl(productData[intItemIndex, 3].ToString()); else return String.Empty; } I do not understand why it calls getPhoto1WithReplace with itemIndex as 5. My array has 5 indexes: 0,1,2,3,4, so HOW Container.ItemIndex can be 5...?
