  • Prototype to JQuery - how to access originator of event

    - by ciaranarcher
Hi there I'm coming from a Prototype background and looking into JQuery. I'd like to know the 'right' way to do attach a click event to a bunch of elements, but then know in the event handler which one of my elements was clicked. I've come up with the following: MYNS.CarouselHelper.prototype.attachImgHandlers = function () { $j(".carouselItem").bind("click", this, function(e){ e.data.openCarouselImage(e) }); } I then have the following in my event handler: MYNS.CarouselHelper.prototype.openCarouselImage = function(e) { var img = e.currentTarget; // Do stuff to the image element }; Is this 'right'? It feels wrong to me as I am used to explicitly passing the element to the event handler in Prototype as I loop through an array of elements. Thanks in advance.

  • Jquery Auto complete append link at the bottom

    - by Ashwin Preetham Lobo
    I am using jQuery auto-complete plugin in my web project. I want to show 3 element and after that i want to append 'see all results' link to the bottom. I tried with following code. $( ".grid-search-box" ).autocomplete({ minLength: 0, source: temp, focus: function( event, ui ) { $( ".grid-search-box" ).val( ui.item.value ); return false; }, select: function( event, ui ) { $( ".grid-search-box" ).val( ui.item.value ); return false; } }).data( "autocomplete" )._renderItem = function( ul, item ) { return $( "<li></li>" ) .data( "item.autocomplete", item ) .append( "<a><span class='" + item.status + "'></span>" + item.value + "</a>" ) .appendTo( ul ); }; Can anybody suggest me, how to solve it.

  • Class as an Event Observer

    - by emi
I want to do something like this... var Color = Class.create({ initialize: function() { this._color = "white"; this.observe("evt: colorChanged", this.colorChanged.bind(this)); }, changeColor: function(color) { this._color = color; this.fire("evt: colorChanged"); }, colorChanged: function(event) { alert("You change my color!"); } }); var a = new Color().changeColor("blue"); Why the colorChange custom event will never be dispatched and I need to use, instead of this, a DOM element like document.observe? In my code I'd like to know which class dispatches the event using event.target and I can't if I must use document or some other DOM element. :( I've been working in Actionscript 3 and that's the methodology I learned to work with custom events in classes. What about Javascript?

  • PhoneGap's vibrate() and beep() functions break in iPhone, Android emulators

    - by Steve Nay
I have a PhoneGap app that I'm testing on webOS, Android, and iPhone. I'm using physical devices as well as emulators (the ones that come with their respective SDKs, not the PhoneGap emulator). Part of the code uses the navigator.notification.vibrate() and navigator.notification.beep() functions. All the physical devices I'm using either perform the behavior or ignore it if they're not capable (e.g., the iPod can't vibrate). However, the emulators behave differently. The Android emulator kills the app whenever the beep() function is called. The iPhone emulator causes the app to hang whenever the vibrate() function is called. Is there any way to get the emulators to ignore those function calls when they are unable to execute them? That is, is there a way to get them to degrade gracefully so I can test the app both places without having to modify the code specifically for the emulators?

  • How can the javascript plugin architecture in raphael/jquery be done?

    - by TimDog
I'm looking for a barebones javascript example that demonstrates how the javascript plugin architecture works with large javascript libraries (such as raphael or jquery). In either scenario, you build plugins by ensuring your custom plugin follows this pattern: jQuery.fn.pluginName -- so assume I have a library: myLibrary = (function() { //my fancy javascript code return function() { //my return object }; }); How would fn be incorporated into the above myLibrary object to ensure that he resulting plugin is callable? I instantiate myLibrary like so: var lib = new myLibrary(); And now I have included a reference to my plugin in my page: myLibrary.fn.simplePlugin = function() { //more fancy code } So finally, I can just call: lib.simplePlugin(); Basically, what magic is actually occuring when the .fn is used during the creation of the plugin?

  • Jquery mouseover change background color problem

    - by Sergio
Jquery code: $(".menu_clickable").mouseover(function() { $(this).css({'background-color' : '#F00'}).mouseout(function(){ $(this).css({'background-color' : '#FFF'}); }); }); $(".menu_clickable").live('click', function() { $(this).css({'background-color' : '#FCC'}); }); HTML source: <div class="menu_clickable prof_info2" id="prof_info" >first</div> <div class="menu_clickable prof_info3" id="prof_info" >second</div> <div class="menu_clickable prof_info3" id="prof_info" >third</div> I'm trying to make the hover efect using Jquery and it is working fine but if I want to change the DIV background color when it's clicked it's not working, actually the clicked DIV change background color but it is stay like that while the cursor is on it. If I move it out it will restore the original background color. Why?

  • LINQ DataLoadOptions - Retrieval of data via Fulltext/Broken Foreign Key Relationship

    - by Alex
I've hit a brick wall: I have an SQL Function: FUNCTION [dbo].[ContactsFTS] (@searchtext nvarchar(4000)) RETURNS TABLE AS RETURN SELECT * FROM Contacts INNER JOIN CONTAINSTABLE(Contacts, *, @searchtext) AS KEY_TBL ON Contacts.Id = KEY_TBL.[KEY] which I am calling via LINQ public IQueryable<ContactsFTSResult> SearchByFullText(String searchText) { return db.ContactsFTS(searchText); } I am projecting the ContactsFTSResult collection into a List<Contact> which is then given to my viewmodel. Here is the problem: My Contacts table (and therefore the Contact object created via LINQ to SQL) has multiple FK relationships to other information, such as Contact.BillingAddressId is an FK to an Address.Id. That information is missing after I do the fulltext search (e.g. if I try to access Contact.BillingAddress it is null). Can I add this information somehow via DataLoadOptions? I tried LoadWith<Contact>(c => c.BillingAddress) but this doesn't work, I assume because of the fact that I'm calling the function instead of doing the whole query via LINQ.

  • jQuery live change problem

    - by Milos
    When I click an element from list, jQuery get class from clicked element and write it in input field. Then value from input need to be written in div#content without any action. HTML: <ul> <li class="NewYork">New York</li> <li class="Paris">Paris</li> <li class="Moscow">Moscow</li> </ul> <input type="text" id="city" value="" /> <div id="content"></div> jQuery: $(document).ready(function() { $('ul li').live('click', function() { var select_value = $(this).attr('class'); $('input#city').val(select_value); return false; }); $('input#city').live('change', function() { var content = $(this).val(); $('#content').text(content+' is beautiful city'); }); });

  • Recommended way to remove events on destroy with jQuery UI Widget Factory

    - by user1031947
I'm using the jQuery UI Widget Factory to build a jQuery plugin. My plugin binds custom events to the window... _subscribe: function() { $(window).on("dragger.started", function() { ... }); } I am wondering how to go about removing these events, when a particular instance of the plugin is destroyed. If I use... destroy: function() { $(window).off("dragger.started"); } ...then that will mess up any other instances of the plugin on the page, as it will remove all "dragger.started" events. What is the recommended way to go about destroying only those events that are associated with an instance of the plugin? Thanks (in advance) for your help.

  • Dynamically add new HTML elements on page load after getting JSON data from Web API

    - by Luis D Urraca
I'm building an hybrid Android App using Phonegap/Apache Cordova. My app should get data from my web api. I'm using JSON to serve the data to the APP. So i got a the following code: function init() { document.addEventListener('deviceready', onDeviceReady, false); var url = "http://23.21.128.153:3000/regions.json";var jsonresults; $.getJSON(url, function(data){ jsonresults = data; $.each(jsonresults, function(i,v){ $('#main-content').append('<li>'+jsonresults[i].name+'</li>'); }); }); } and also on the body of the html i have a div called main-content. Everythings works fine in the Eclipse browser, but on the Android Emulator is not working. Not sure if there's another way to pull data from Web API using JSON and dinamically create HMTL elements after getting the data. https://gist.github.com/2956660

  • Change DIV background color for all inputs in form

    - by Erik
I have a form with 20 input fields. Each input field is inside a DIV I have a script that changes the background color of the DIV via keyup function along with two other DIV tags. Rather than duplicating the script 20 times for each DIV and Input, is it possible to re-write the script to do all DIV's and their Inputs? <script> $(document).ready(function(){ $("#id").keyup(function() { if($("#id").val().length > 0) $("#in1, #nu1, #lw1, #id").css("background-color", "#2F2F2F").css("color", "#FFF"); else { if($("#id").val().length == 0) $("#in1, #nu1, #lw1, #id").css("background-color", "#E8E8E8").css("color", "#000"); } }); }); </script>

  • Simulated click on "add more value" button of multi value cck field causes whole content form to sub

    - by ninja
Hi I have a multi value cck field in my cck content type. I want to simulate click on "add another item" using jquery. which is like $('#edit-field-supp-quan-field-supp-quan-add-more').trigger('click'); but it causes whole content form to submit instead of adding extra multi value cck field. Manuall clicks are working perfectly. Can anyone tell me why behavior of manual clicks and simulated clicks are different. thanks ----Update ---- This is the code I was using:- $('#edit-field-freightamount-0-value').click(function(){ alert('hello'); $('#edit-field-supp-quan-field-supp-quan-add-more').trigger('click'); //$('.form-submit ahah-processed').trigger('click'); }); I actually intended to call this from inside some other function but I just wanted to test it before that . So i wrote this dummy function which is like if i click inside a texrfield it should simulate a click on "add more item" How do we prevent default action of click?

  • Customer session is different in different parts of a Magento website

    - by Josh Pennington
I have a function inside of a Helper in Magento that returns whether or not a customer attribute equals one. Here is my Helper class class Nie_Nie_Helper_Data extends Mage_Core_Helper_Abstract { public function isNieAdmin() { if(Mage::getSingleton('customer/session')->getCustomer()->getNieAdmin() == 1) { return true; } else { return false; } } } Now when I call this function from a class that extends Mage_Core_Block_Template, everything seems to work fine. However when I try to use this inside one of my controllers, it does not work. In fact when I do Mage::getSingleton('customer/session')-getCustomer()-debug() the only variable that is returned is the website_id. Does anyone know what I have to do in order to get this to work? Thanks Josh Pennington

  • Haskell Syntax: Parse Error On Input

    - by NuNu
As part of a mini-haskell compiler that I'm writing, I have a function named app. What I want this function to do is take in these arguments epp (App e1 e2). The first step would be to evaluate e1 recursively (epp e1) and check if the output would be an error. If not then evaluate e2 and then call another function eppVals to evaluate the outputs of the calls on e1 and e2 which I defined as v1 and v2 respectively. epp (App e1 e2) | epp e1 /= Error = eppVals v1 v2 | otherwise = Error where v1 = epp e1 v2 = epp e2 <- parse error on input `=' Logically I believe what I have written so far works but I'm getting a parse error on input = where I stated above. Any idea why? My second try epp :: Exp -> Error Val epp (App e1 e2) = (eppVals v1 v2) where v1 = (epp e1) v2 = (epp e2) But now throws Couldn't match expected type Val with actual type Error Val

  • Convert args to flat list?

    - by Mark
I know this is very similar to a few other questions, but I can't quite get this function to work correctly. def flatten(*args): return list(item for iterable in args for item in iterable) The output I'm looking for is: flatten(1) -> [1] flatten(1,[2]) -> [1, 2] flatten([1,[2]]) -> [1, 2] The current function, which I from another SO answer doesn't seem to produce correct results at all: >>> flatten([1,[2]]) [1, [2]] I wrote the following function which seems to work for 0 or 1 levels of nesting, but not deeper: def flatten(*args): output = [] for arg in args: if hasattr(arg, '__iter__'): output += arg else: output += [arg] return output

  • Why does an onclick property set with setAttribute fail to work in IE?

    - by Aeon
    Ran into this problem today, posting in case someone else has the same issue. var execBtn = document.createElement('input'); execBtn.setAttribute("type", "button"); execBtn.setAttribute("id", "execBtn"); execBtn.setAttribute("value", "Execute"); execBtn.setAttribute("onclick", "runCommand();"); Turns out to get IE to run an onclick on a dynamically generated element, we can't use setAttribute. Instead, we need to set the onclick property on the object with an anonymous function wrapping the code we want to run. execBtn.onclick = function() { runCommand() }; BAD IDEAS: You can do execBtn.setAttribute("onclick", function() { runCommand() }); but it will break in IE in non-standards mode according to @scunliffe. You can't do this at all execBtn.setAttribute("onclick", runCommand() ); because it executes immediately, and sets the result of runCommand() to be the onClick attribute value, nor can you do execBtn.setAttribute("onclick", runCommand);

  • Making element draggable with Android WebView (ideally, just with Javascript) ?

    - by GJTorikian
I'm building an app with a build target of 1.5 . I have a variable, WebView browser, that is calling loadUrl to load a static HTML page from my assets folder. In that HTML page, the following JavaScript is defined: var supportsTouch = ('createTouch' in document); ... var w = $('wrapper'); w[supportsTouch ? 'touchmove' : 'onmousemove'] = move; w[supportsTouch ? 'touchend' : 'onmouseup'] = function(event){ dragging = false; }; where move is another function that handles the dragging. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to work. I cannot figure out a concise list of which touch events are available to Android--is it ontouchmove, or touchmove? Am I supposed to set up an onTouchEvent call back in my Java code, which then launches the JavaScript function?
