    I am new to PostgreSQL. I have to recover a database which was running in widows XP machine. I have the zip folder of postgres. I have extracted postgres installation in a different PC and started a using initDB and created a new database, I was able to login, but I am not able to see any old tables. Would you please post the steps you have used to start server in another windows XP machine and how to recover tables and data in the old data folder?

  • Can I tweak a page's appearance using Google Chrome's developer tools?

    When I'm working on a web page layout, I often use Firefox and Firebug to tweak the CSS until it looks right, then modify my style sheet to match. Right now, I'm trying to fix something that looks fine in other browsers but wrong in Google Chrome. I have pulled up Chrome's Developer Tools, and can inspect the computed style, but don't see a way to edit values and see the results on my page. Is there a way to do this?

    My boss is interested in using MKS Integrity for bug tracking, feature requests, Wiki documentation and so on. However, we currently use Subversion, and he doesn't want to force us devs to use a version control system that we don't like. Is is possible to integrate a different version control program into MKS Integrity? I'm particularly interested in SVN, Git, Mercurial and Bazaar. If you've tried mixing tools like this before, I'd love to hear about your experiences.

However, I'm getting a CoreException ("Project target not loaded yet.") thrown when I attempt to call IProject.build on an Android project as part of a unit test: IProject project = importProject(...); project.build(IncrementalProjectBuilder.FULL_BUILD, monitor); Should I be waiting for the project target to load before calling the above? If so, what call should I use to poll the project target loading status?

    I have created one user named "tuser" with create database rights in SQL server 2005. and given the 'db_owner' database role of master and msdb database to "tuser". From this user login when I run the script for create database then it will create new database. But "tuser" don't have access that newly created database generated from script. Any one have any idea?, I want to write the script so "tuser" have access that new created database after creation and can have add user permission of newly created database. I want to give 'db_owner' database roles to "tuser" on that newly created database in the same script which create new database. The script run under 'tuser'.

    I can't get this script to run, because SQL management studio 2008 says the table "NewName" does not exist. However, the script's purpose is to rename an existing database, so that it does exist when it gets to that line. Ideas? Use Master; ALTER DATABASE OldName SET SINGLE_USER WITH NO_WAIT; ALTER DATABASE OldName MODIFY NAME = NewName; ALTER DATABASE NewName SET MULTI_USER; Use NewName; --THIS LINE FAILS BEFORE THE SCRIPT EVEN RUNS!

I want to load a page and display tags under a video and then when a user adds a new tag by entering it into text box to add it to the database and then refresh the part of the page which shows these tags and include the new one which has just been added all without the page being reloaded.   • If I write an algorithm to encrypt a file, are their tools available to break the encryption?

    I have an idea for encryption that I could program fairly easily to encrypt some local text file. Given that my approach is novel, and does not use any of the industry standard encryption techniques, would I be able to test the strength of my encryption using 'cracker' apps or suchlike? Or do all those tools rely on advanced knowledge of the encryption process (or intercepted 'keys'), meaning I'd have to build my own cracker for testing?

    I can not use MySQL. MySQL is on my local computer. Currently I added skip-grant-tables in My.ini so I can use MySQL. But I have no privilege to create a new database. My problem is tough, although I asked related questions on SO, but no answer can resolve my problem. I almost give up. So I lower my expectation. I am developing a website, so I need to create database, tables and operate tables. You don't have to consider security. Is there a simple solution that can give me privilege to create a new database? Maybe by adding some command in my.ini or something? You won't need to completely resolve my problem. Maybe after the development, I will upload the database and tables to another server(The current database server is my personal computer, windows XP) so I can uninstall and reinstall MySQL. The root of problem is that I lack privileges.

  • What free tools or strategies can help debug a multi-threading corruption bug?

    I have a client server application with multi-threading. The server side is failing with a std::list getting corrupted resulting in a SEGV. I suspect that there is some kind of cross thread timing issue going on where the two threads are updating the std::list at the same time and causing it to be corrupted.     Is the ASP.NET 4.0 SQL session state mechanism backward-compatible with the ASP.NET 2.0 schema for session state, or should/must we create a separate and distinct session state database for our ASP.NET 4.0 apps? I'm leaning towards the latter anyway, but the 2.0 database seems to just work, though I'm wondering if there are any substantive differences between the ASPState database schema / procedures between the 2.0 and 4.0 versions of ASP.NET.
