  Here's the issue. I have a database column called pymnt_meth_pref, which contains a comma separated string of payment methods chosen from a multiselect form. <td>Payment Methods Used:<br /> <input type="checkbox" name="pyment_meth_pref[]" value="Cash">I can pay with cash.<br /> <input type="checkbox" name="pyment_meth_pref[]" value="Check">I can pay by check.<br /> <input type="checkbox" name="pyment_meth_pref[]" value="Credit Card">I can pay by credit card.<br /> <input type="checkbox" name="pyment_meth_pref[]" value="Paypal">I can pay with Paypal.<br /> </td> This array is posted to a variable and turned into a comma separated string if (isset($_POST['pyment_meth_pref'])) $pymntmethpref = implode(", ", $_POST['pyment_meth_pref']); if (isset($_POST['pyment_meth_acc'])) $pymntmethacc = implode(", ", $_POST['pyment_meth_acc']); This is then inserted into the database as a comma separated string. What I would like to do, is take this string and apply the values to the original form when the user goes back to the form as 'pre-selected' checkboxes, indicated that the user has already selected those values previously, and keeping those values in the database if they choose to edit any other information in the form. I'm assuming this would need to be done with javascript but if there is a way to do it with PHP I'd rather do it that way.

  Can someone help me render a form and table on the same page? I'm sure it's easy, but can't think of how to do it. What I want is a small form above the table. How would I that?

• Rails -- Cant set value for date_select in form

  I'm pulling data from an API where the date data comes in as "2008-02-11 00:00:00 " I would like that data to go into my form within the date_select as a value so I can view it correctly before I add it into my database. The view looks like <%= f.label :start_date %><br /> <%= f.date_select :start_date, :value => " #{@stdate[idx]} " %> The object is actually an array of dates since I'm doing this action several times do thats why the [idx] is there; serving as an index. <%= @stdate[idx] % ends up outputting "2008-02-11 00:00:00 " but the fields for the date_select helper only outputs the current date "2010" "June" "5" in those dropdown date selects fields... Do I need to set the values of the Year, Month, and Date Individually? I have Chronic and tried to parse the object before using it as a value for the date_select and that didnt work either. Any ideas?

  I have a column of product views in a database (e.g. top, bottom, front, back). I'm trying to generate a series of file inputs to allow the user to upload an image for each view. • SpringMvc java.lang.NullPointerException When Posting Form To Server

  I have a form with a user name field on it when i tab out of the field i use a RESTFUL Web Service that makes a call to a handler method in the controller. The method makes a call to a DAO class that checks the database if the user name exists. This works fine, however when the form is posted to the server i call the same exact function i would call in the handler method however i get a java.lang.NullPointerException when it accesses the class that makes a call to the DAO object. So it does not even access the DAO object the second time. I have exception handlers around the calls in all my classes that makes calls. Any ideas as to whats happening here why i would get the java.lang.NullPointerException the second time the function is called.Does this have anything to do with Spring instantiating DAO classes using a Singleton method or something to that effect? What can be done to resolve this? • c# passing something from child form to parent

  hi guys. so i have this form and on it is a combo box populated from a database via a SQL method. and i have another form which allows us to maintain the database table etc. so i make a new instance of the second form doing: Form1 frm = new Form2; frm.show(); once i have done what ever i wanted to do on the second form and i close it, i need to somehow trigger an event or something which will refresh the combo box and the code behind it. i was thinking of some onchange or focus event for the whole form, the problem is i have 5 of these combo boxes and running all the SQL again. i also thought of passing somesort of variable thro but then i would still need an event for that. any ideals would be awesome

• ERB doesnt get executed in javascript scripts

  Hi guys I have a select input on my page. this select input displays/hides fields in the form. This all works fine. But the problem is that if i submit the form and lack some necessary fields, it doesnt set the select to the right value afterwards. • breaking datetime into constituent parts ASP.NET MVC form

  hi guys, i have searched the web relentlessly for this and have not found anything - which is surprising because i would think it is such a common scenario! Basically, on my model i have a DateTime field which i wish the user to populate through a form. I am using the Html helper to render all other parts of the form (along with validation) So this question is in two parts... Html Helper Firstly, is there any way to use the Html helper to split the DateTime field to be rendered as the three constituent parts of a date: day, month, year (since i do not care about the time part). This could be rendered as text boxes, drop down lists or a combination of both. Model Binding And then when the form is posted, what is the best approach for binding back up to the model? I have seen Scott Hanselmann's solution to this, but it seems a little bloated for what i need - i was hoping for a slightly more elegant solution. Is it recommended to extend DefaultModelBinder and set that as default binder (since all dates would be handled in this way) or write a class that implements IModelBionder and set it as the default binder for the DateTime type? Thanks for all the help in advance :-) i'm loving MVC but it's infuriating me that something so trivial is causing so much headaches!

  I have a model service and a ModelForm named Service which I use to add and update the service model. The model looks like this: class Service(models.Model): categories = models.ManyToManyField(Category) The categories field is displayed as a tag with that allows multiple selection. It works well when I'm adding a new record but when I'm updating it, only one service is showing up on the request.POST['categories'] even if I selected multiple categories. I tried dumping the request object and I can see that the categories is showing something like: u'categories': [u'3', u'4', u'2'] I tried calling the request._get_post() and it did return only 1 category, hence the request.POST['categories'] returns only 1. Anybody who knows what's happening and how to fix it?

  Hi everyone! I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I feel my situation is a little different... I have a huge form (like 50 questions involving checkboxes, drop downs, text boxes and textareas) When a user submits a form and the validation page throws an error, is there an easy way to keep the info they entered? My intitial form is on form.php and then the form action is form_posted.php, before anything is run on form_posted.php I have my validation code which sends the user back to form.php with an error number (eg. form.php?error=3) if there was a problem with any in particular. This is done with header("form.php?error=3") so on form.php do the posted variables exist? even tho the page wasn't specifically sent with any posted variables. Also if this is the case, is it completely secure to be making the value of a textbox what it was before? like <input type="text" value="php echo $_POSTED["username"] ?>">

• How would I go about letting a user add and associate a comma separated list of categories while add

  I've been struggling for quite a while to get this feature working: I want my user to be able to select categories when uploading a photograph, but additionally be able to specify a comma-separated list of categories to create/find and associate with the photograph. I've had this working by using an attr_accessor :new_categories on the photographs model, but having that there without the column existing breaks both Paperclip and Exifr. Obviously, image upload and EXIF data retrieval are pretty important for a photography website, but not being able to add categories while uploading a photograph is a pain in the arse. Methods I've tried so far: Using attr_accessor to add a field for new_categories. Breaks gems. Using an Ajax sub-form to add categories. Formtastic can't handle it. Adding a column for new_categories to the photograph model. It works, but it's horrific. I haven't tried using a nested form, but I'd need to intercept it and stop it from processing it as normal.   Hi, let's say I have a blog with a module "post". now I display a post like this: post/index?id=1 in the index-action i generate a new CommentForm and pass it as $this-form to the template and it is being displayed at the bottom of a post (it's just a textfield, nothing special). form action is set to "post/addcomment". How can I display the validation errors in this form? using setTemplate('index') doesn't work because I would have to pass the id=1 to it... thanks

• Adding new records in Access without wrecking the form

  I'm working on a simple Access 2003 application to keep track of things that need to be done for clients for some colleagues. Each colleague has a set of clients, and each client has a set of actions that need to be taken by a certain date. I've set up a form that consists of a combobox for client ID (indexed), a drop-down for the person who is handling that client's case, and a button for adding new clients (a standard Access-created Add Record button). The actions are listed in a subform below these three elements. The problem I've run into is that the first person I tested this on clicked the button to add a new record, then didn't fill it out and tried to select another client from the drop-down list. Access interprets this as an attempt to set the selected Client ID as the ID for the new record and rightfully throws an error for duplicate primary keys. I can think of a couple of ways around this problem, but I'd much rather hear your elegant solutions than kludge together some junk in a language I don't know. Let me know if you have any questions. • jQuery focus on content of input / textarea - not working properly in IE8

  I want the input fields on my site to select all the text when the user first clicks on them, but in IE8 the text is selected for a split second then reverts back to normal. Works fine in FF.   I'm building a site using CakePHP and am currently working on adding data to two separate tables at the same time.. not a problem. The problem I have is that I'm looking to dynamically alter the form that accepts the input values, allowing the click of a button/link to add an additional row of form fields. I'm very new to jQuery, having done a few minor bits, but nothing this advanced (mostly just copy/paste stuff). Can anyone help? Thank you.

  I have a simple login form with 2 input fields: "username" and "password". "username" field is focused by default. The problem is that when user clicks outside "username" or "password" fields, the focus is gone (it is neither on "username" nor on "password" fields"). How can I force the focus to be on these 2 fields only ? I was fast and I said "yes".So my original aim to teach people to troubleshoot MySQL changed to teaching of how different is MySQL from Oracle in troubleshooting aspects. Although both RDBMs have very much in common they are definitely very different. • How to allow certain HTML tags in a form field in Symfony 1.2

  I'm playing around with Symfony and have encountered a road block. I created a model "CmsPage" which has a field called "content" which is stored as a clob (this is specific to doctrine I believe). When I created the app I set "--escaping-strategy=on" so if I enter any html when editing a CmsPage that gets encoded with html entities or something along those lines. I would like to allow html in this field and a quick googling hasn't helped much. Maybe I'm searching for the wrong terms. Anywho I would like to disable character escaping for this field and possibly only allow a small selection of html tags. What is the correct way to do this in Symfony?
