I have a number of secure emails sent to my Outlook 2007 client. Most arrive fine and display the prompt with regards to granting access to the certificate and then open. Today I received two that crash Outlook whenever I try to open them. I've tried restarting Outlook and my computer but still have the same problem.
Any ideas what might be causing this, and how I can fix it?
I'm working on Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit.
Is it possible to mount remote file system (on Windows 2003 server) as local disk in Windows 7?
I have Windows 2003 server with software RAID and some shares. On another computer with Windows 7 I have software which can access only data form local or USB disks.
This solution doesn't work because program doesn't see files in folder:
Mount Remote CIFS/SMB Share as a Folder not a Drive Letter
Everything is the same LAN.
I'm sniffing my current connection, but I have second computer linked to mine with ICS. And my app makes no difference between the two. How can I detect the second one and filter it?
I'm a little embarrassed I can't seem to fix this issue:
Running a Dell D630 laptop with a VGA to an external monitor. Every time the computer goes to sleep the Dualview setting reverts to single display. I click the Nvidia dualview setting again but the external monitor remains black screen. The only way I can get it working again is to restart :(.
What's going on here??
thanks yall

If you were provided a computer running Windows 2000 or newer and you have no passwords, what method do you use to gain access with administrator privileges so you can use the system?
Is there a way to allow many shadow sessions on the same remote desktop?
I am looking for a simple and free way to share my computer desktop with many read only users.
OS: WinXP SP3
When pressing win+E or open Windows Explorer, under My Computer, usually there are several disk drives. But somehow they just disappeared.
If I type c:\ in address bar, then the disk will re-appear in the tree though. How to get them back to normal? Thanks.
I was copying large files over to my computer for video editing and keeping an eye on available hard drive space I knew I should have had just enough space to put everything. However, as I was getting close to filling up my hard drive, the available free space suddenly jumped by about 30GB. Any idea what happened?
I have backed up my failing hard drive using a ddrescue Linux command to two partition files - p1 and p2 5GB and 90GB each.
Now, without saving this back to an actual disk - is there a way for me to boot my old computer virtually, using Virtual PC or Parallels or VMWare? How?
Thank you.
I have a virtual Windows 7 computer using VirtualBox on a Linux host. How can I mount this virtual pc's harddisk (VDI file) in Linux? It's a dynamic file, meaning that it only takes up as much space as is actually used.
I'm remotely investigating issue with my friend's WIN XP computer. The browsers (Chrome and IE) won't show any pages but message with err_connection_reset in details.
I've tried to perform "telnet google.com 80" and send there "HEAD / HTTP/1.0" from console and everything went fine, but browsers refused to give me anything. I've checked for presence of firewalls and proxy servers in the settings, but nothing seems to be there. What else to check?
I have my msn email account setup with a bunch of folders to put all my different emails in. I don't use rules, just drag and drop sort. On my current computer, I have it go to outlook, and all the folders pop up fine. But I set that up 4 years ago, and now I'm setting up a new laptop and have no idea how to get it going again. Any ideas?
I need to execute a MMC Snap-in function from the Command Shell of a Windows computer. I need it to schedule this command in the same Windows PC and executes in background.
Probably this questions could seem a little bit strange but I have a program that creates a debug log only through its MMC Snap-in console. And I need to automatise this task to programatically read this log!
Dows anyone know how to do this?
thanks
Is there a software that can detect and list previously installed programs on a computer?
Or any method you know which I can use so that I could see what programs were previously installed assuming that those programs were only uninstalled using the add/remove programs in control panel.
Or if you know a method which will also detect and list previously installed programs which are uninstalled using advanced uninstaller like revo.
Is there a software or program that lets me SMS/text for free to cell phones and gives me a phone number to distribute to let people text my computer? all this for free? running Windows. Thanks!
Hello,
CentOS 5.3
After booting up. I am wondering what is the name of the log file that contains if all services where successfully loaded or not?
For example when computer boots you get a list of start services and they can be OK or FAILED.
Is there a log file where this information is kept? I had a look in the following directory /var/log/ but not sure which one will contain the informaiton that I need.
Many thanks for any advice,
I have a Dell Inspiron 6400/E1505 model laptop. I've recently installed Windows 7 on my computer and now my battery is not charging ? What can I do ? Is there any one who once had the same problem and then solved it ?
Thanks.
I just followed How to use Group Policy to remotely install software in Windows Server 2003 to try publishing a software (MSI file). I could follow all the steps, but the supposedly successfully published software does not appear on client/user machine's Add/Remove Programs.
Could some help figure why this may not be working.
Update:
On reading this question on Experts-Exchange, tried gpresults. Output extract follows:

The following GPOs were not applied because they were filtered out

When I am trying to connect to a MySQL database from a remote computer I get a prompt saying: Connection Failed: [HY000] [MySQL][ODBC 5.1 Driver]Can't Connect to MySQL server on 'XXX.XXX.XX.XX' (10060)
I have created a user account in the MySQL Administrator and added a host to enable remote access, I have also made an exception for my Windows Firewall on port 3306 but the connection still fails.
What is the problem?
Thanks!
I wanted to install a new driver for my Wireless Network Card but Windows 7 reported the driver was up to date. So I decided to uninstall the driver. That seemed to do more than I expected...
My WiFi card no longer shows up on the computer. Nothing in Device Manager. I have no idea how to get it back.
How can I get Windows to find the device? :/
I have an OS X box running iTunes on it. I play music with iTunes connected to an Apple TV. In iTunes I can select Apple TV as the output sound device. Am I able to do that with any other application? Apple TV does not show up as a seperate device in System Preferences. I'd like to browse and play YouTube videos in my computer and stream their sound to Apple TV.
As soon as I logon to Windows 7 64bit, the computer restarts.
It isn't a hardware issue, as linux works fine.
Windows 7 64 bit.
Safe mode, last known good configuration etc, nothing makes any difference. Nor does startup repair or sfc.
I used DaRT to check the event log, and nothing is recorded.
How can I troubleshoot this?
I am an IT Administrator. I would like to create and distribute simple troubleshooting guides for my end-users. Does anyone know if these can be purchased anywhere? Has anyone tried a similar project and have any advice?
For instance a sample entry would read:
Can't connect to the internet
1) Check physical connection to internet (cable attached to your computer)
2) check wireless connection
3) ping dns server
4) if Ping fails call Tech Support
The Windows Domain I manage has hundreds of computer names which I don't recognise and I'd like to remove old ones which aren't in use before trying to track down the misnamed ones.
Is there someway to see when the last time a machine logged onto the network? Either via dhcpd or a user login event or something else.
