  • Use SECEDIT to export "Security Options" from one computer and import on another

    Can I use secedit.exe to export out the "Security Options" from the local security policy and then import them on another machine? I'm trying to do this on Windows Server 2008. Update I just tried with: secedit /export /db C:\andy.db /cfg C:\andy.inf /areas SECURITYPOLICY /log C:\andy.log But it didn't work with error: Warning 2: The system cannot find the file specified. Error opening C:\andy.db. Where do I get the DB file from?

  • Nvidia driver for Dell xps M1330 in XP

    I need to run xp, and cannot find a driver that works for this laptop in windows xp. I have tried quite a few of them, from my google searches, but none work, they all come up and say no proper driver can be found for your hardware. I have tried to replace the inf files on driver installs but I still get nothing, same error. Any ideas will be appreciated, thank you.

  • Make exe or bat require admin privileges UAC

    I am trying to create an install CD to install multiple windows updates and hotfixes in one. The Autorun.inf launching a .bat (or .exe) running each update in turn. Currently if I run this .bat each update brings up a UAC prompt individually which can be annoying. However if I run the .bat as administrator it can launch and install each update with just one prompt. Is there a way to force the bat (or .exe) to need admin priviledges no matter who runs it.

  • JDBCRealm can't find sqlite file

    My authentication fails with java.sql.SQLException: no such table: credentials where credentials is the name of the user/password table. I have checked the db file and the table is there. I think you also get this error when sqlite jdbc can't even find the file. I am specifying my realm in a META-INF/context.xml file. Is there any trick to getting the path right? I have tried just about everything I can think of.

(*.doc,*.txt, *.inf, ...), not (*.conf, *.dat, *.*, ...) Microsoft search filters don't contain any filter I can use for this. Any idea?

    I would like my TrueCrypt virtual drive to act as a newly inserted USB drive or CD/DVD by executing commands in the partition's autorun.inf file. I've read several suggestions online including creating a .bat file or installing software so Windows will think this is a CD, but I'd like to know the easiest and least intrusive way to pull it off. i.e. I want to keep from installing or messing with the host computer as much as possible, as this is intended to be a fully portable drive.

  • Problem deploying GWT application on apache and tomcat using mod_jk

    I'm trying to deploy a GWT app on Apache using mod_jk connector. I have compiled the application and tested it on tomcat on the address localhost:8080/loginapp and it works ok.   • Computer suddenly dies; screen displays weird flickering lines, then restarts

    I've been having this terrible problem for a little while and just managed to get a picture of 'dead screen' for the first time and I am posting it to seek help. Randomly, at irregular intervals (typically once a week), while working on something (it's been different things every time) my computer will just suddenly go dead - the screen turns to exactly the picture below (the lines flicker a little bit), it hangs there for a few seconds and then restarts. Obviously this is extremely frustrating and I want to try to stop it. I've searched numerous postings with similar keywords but nothing exactly the same as mine. Does anyone have any idea what might be the cause of this? I would post all my system settings and installed programs but the list is long and I don't know how much relevance each item would be. If you'd like to know something specific, please comment and I'll let you know whatever you need.   • Alienware m15x (older model) BSOD investigation

    A frined of mine asked me to help him with an Alienware m15x laptop that had a little service history. It was bought in june 2008, serviced in january 2009 for a random fps drop problem, Alienware returned it saying nothing was wrong. The laptop still had hiccups, but after juggling a few drivers and settings, the fps drops weren't as noticeable. Eventually it died in Sept. 2009. It would not boot up locking itself on a white/gray screen. (i think it was overheating .. clocking in 100 degrees Celsius). So back to Alienware it went. They replaced the GPU and all was fine. Up until these blue screens started showing up. One other thing that was updated was the HDD and a Windows 7 reinstall, in August. From then on it seems to have started its BSOD. Could this be the culprit? Why? 0_o The original Windows was Vista but it was upgraded with a digital download/purchase of Windows 7 Home Premium and activated after installing windows. No errors on the old HDD, just on the latest installation. LE:Due note that now the old HDD is used to see if issues re-occur. So please, I am in need of someone who can interpret these windows dump files: Minidump I may have come to some conflicting conclusions. So if someone can clarify each dump/date and the probable cause/error it had; and a final conclusion or solution, we would be very grateful.   • Configure startup order of websphere application withing EAR

    Is it possible to define startup order of the WebSphere enterprise application within EAR (some of descriptor/binding files, META-INF or anywhere else)? The procedure described in IBM InfoCenter requires using AdminConsole, but I would prefer to set fixed order in the EAR to assert that our 2 EAR's will start in fixed order (one is requiring the other to start before). Unfortunatelly, I haven't found in Internet any way for setting startup order other then AdminConsole/wsadmin. I don't want to go into AdminConsole each time I redeploy the EAR.

    I have downloaded NXEngine (The Open Source version of Cave Story). I have a make file in the directory, which I execute using msys. However, the make file uses sdl-config: g++ -g -O2 -c main.cpp -D DEBUG `sdl-config --cflags` -Wreturn-type -Wformat -Wno-multichar -o main.o /bin/sh: sdl-config: command not found And apparently sdl-config does not exist under windows since there's no sdl installation. There's also no documentation on the official sourceforge website about this! What do I do?

  • Custom session: Window does not capture full screen area by default. 12.04

    I am trying to create a custom session by creating a custom.desktop file in /usr/share/xesessions folder. Remember this is not a gnome or some other session. I have created my own application for this session, which are simple. Case 1 Chrome Browser Contents of custom.desktop file [Desktop Entry] Name=Internet Kiosk Comment=This is an internet kiosk Exec=google-chrome --kiosk TryExec= Icon= Type=Application Issue Chrome browser starts in kiosk mode but does not capture complete screen area. Some area is left at the bottom and right side of the screen. Case 2 Custom pyGTK app (Quickly) Contents of custom.desktop file [Desktop Entry] Name=Custom Kiosk Comment=This is a custom kiosk Exec=~/MyCustomPyGTKApp TryExec= Icon= Type=Application Issue My custom pyGTK app has window.fullScreen() in the code. That means it should open in full screen without the window chrome (and it does under the normal session). But that too, leaves lots of space around it. Need Help Can anyone tell me whats going on here. I think its some issue with borders as pointed out at http://www.instructables.com/id/Setting-Up-Ubuntu-as-a-Kiosk-Web-Appliance/?ALLSTEPS in Step 8 If by chance, Google Chromium is not stretched to the edges with the --kiosk switch enabled there is a simple fix. To stretch Chromium simply log in as your regular user and edit chromeKiosk.sh to not have the --kiosk switch. Then log in as the restricted user, click the wrench and choose options. Then on the Personal Stuff tab select Hide system title bar and use compact borders. Close the options screen and stretch Chromium to fit the monitor. Then go back into the options window and set it to Use system title bar and borders. After this is done, log out of your restricted user (might need to just reboot) and log into your regular user. Edit chromeKiosk.sh back to include the --kiosk switch again and Chromium should be full screen next time you log into the restricted user. If I were to use a custom pyGTK or a gtkmm app, how should I get around this issue. window.fullScreen() should occupy the complete screen area. This has to be done programmatically or in some other way that can scale. I have to deploy this on large number of machines located at different geographical areas. Doing it manually on every machine is not possible.

    En préparation, un sujet sur l'installation et la configuration de Grid Infrastructure 11.2 sur Oracle Enterprise Linux 5 (OEL 5.2 32bits). Plusieurs sites relatent ce type de config test, mais aucun ne semble décrire les problèmes pouvant survenir à l'installation, les résolutions possibles et les pièges à éviter, notamment sur la configuration d'ASMlib ou lors de la configuration du cluster par root.sh. La doc semble manquer cruellement dès qu'on rencontre un problème de configuration de Grid Infra sur VMWare, je vais tacher d'y remédier...A suivre :)
