  • sqlite3 'database is locked' won't go away with retries

    - by Azarias
    I have a sqlite3 database that is accessed by a few threads (3-4). I am aware of the general limitations of sqlite3 with regards to concurrency as stated http://www.sqlite.org/faq.html#q6 , but I am convinced that is not the problem. All of the threads both read and write from this database. Whenever I do a write, I have the following construct: try: Cursor.execute(q, params) Connection.commit() except sqlite3.IntegrityError: Notify except sqlite3.OperationalError: print sys.exc_info() print("DATABASE LOCKED; sleeping for 3 seconds and trying again") time.sleep(3) Retry On some runs, I won't even hit this block, but when I do, it never comes out of it (keeps retrying, but I keep getting the 'database is locked' error from exc_info. If I understand the reader/writer lock usage correctly, some amount of waiting should help with the contention. What this sounds like is deadlock, but I do not use any transactions in my code, and every SELECT or INSERT is simply a one off. Some threads, however, keep the same connection when they do their operation (which includes a mix of SELECTS and INSERTS and other modifiers). I would appericiate it if you could shade a light on this, and also ways around fixing it (besides using a different database engine.)

  • Segment string into array, regex?

    - by Hanpan
    I have a string which looks like this: "[segment1][segment2][segment2]" What I'd like is to be able to split the string into an array, so I'd end up with: Array[0] = "segment1", Array[1] = "segment2", Array[2] = "segment3" I've tried using the string split function, but it doesn't seem to do exactly what I want. I was wondering if anyone has some regex which might help me out? Thanks in advance

Then again I'm kind of a newbie. def GET(self, filename): name = urllib.unquote(filename) full = path.abspath(path.join(STATIC_PATH, filename)) #Make sure request is not tricksy and tries to get out of #the directory, e.g. filename = "../.ssh/id_rsa". GET OUTTA HERE assert full[:len(STATIC_PATH)] == STATIC_PATH, "bad path" return open(full).read()

  • Convert object to DateRange

    - by user655832
    I'm querying an underlying PostgreSQL database using Pandas 0.8. Pandas is returning the DataFrame properly but the underlying timestamp column in my database is being returned as a generic "object" type in Pandas. As I would eventually like to seasonal normalization of my data I am curious as to how to convert this generic "object" column to something that is appropriate for analysis. Here is my current code to retrieve the data: # get records from db example import pandas.io.sql as psql import psycopg2 # define query to get all subs created this year QRY = """ select i i, i * random() f, case when random() > 0.5 then true else false end t, (current_date - (i*random())::int)::timestamp with time zone tsz from generate_series(1,1000) as s(i) order by 4 ; """ CONN_STRING = "host='localhost' port=5432 dbname='postgres' user='postgres'" # connect to db conn = psycopg2.connect(CONN_STRING) # get some data set index on relid column df = psql.frame_query(QRY, con=conn) print "Row count retrieved: %i" % (len(df),) Thanks for any help you can render. • Tkinter Gui to read in csv file and generate buttons based on the entries in the first row

    - by Thomas Jensen
    I need to write a gui in Tkinter that can choose a csv file, read it in and generate a sequence of buttons based on the names in the first row of the csv file (later the data in the csv file should be used to run a number of simulations). So far I have managed to write a Tkinter gui that will read the csv file, but I am stomped as to how I should proceed: from Tkinter import * import tkFileDialog import csv class Application(Frame): def __init__(self, master = None): Frame.__init__(self,master) self.grid() self.createWidgets() def createWidgets(self): top = self.winfo_toplevel() self.menuBar = Menu(top) top["menu"] = self.menuBar self.subMenu = Menu(self.menuBar) self.menuBar.add_cascade(label = "File", menu = self.subMenu) self.subMenu.add_command( label = "Read Data",command = self.readCSV) def readCSV(self): self.filename = tkFileDialog.askopenfilename() f = open(self.filename,"rb") read = csv.reader(f, delimiter = ",") app = Application() app.master.title("test") app.mainloop() Any help is greatly appreciated!

  • SQLAlchemy: a better way for update with declarative?

    - by hadrien
    I am a SQLAlchemy noob. Let's say I have an user table in declarative mode: class User(Base): __tablename__ = 'user' id = Column(u'id', Integer(), primary_key=True) name = Column(u'name', String(50)) When I know user's id without object loaded into session, I update such user like this: ex = update(User.__table__).where(User.id==123).values(name=u"Bob Marley") Session.execute(ex) I dislike using User.__table__, should I stop worrying with that? Is there a better way to do this? Thanx!

  • In SqlAlchemy, how to ignore m2m relationship attributes when merge?

    - by ablmf
    There is a m2m relation in my models, User and Role. I want to merge a role, but i DO NOT want this merge has any effect on user and role relation-ship. Unfortunately, for some complicate reason, role.users if not empty. I tried to set role.users = None, but SA complains None is not a list. At this moment, I use sqlalchemy.orm.attributes.del_attribute, but I don't know if it's provided for this purpose.

  • slicing 2d numpy array

    - by MedicalMath
    I have a 2d numpy array called FilteredOutput that has 2 columns and 10001 rows, though the number of rows is a variable. I am trying to take the 2nd column of FilteredOutput and use it to populate a new 1d numpy array called timeSeriesArray using the following line of code: timeSeriesArray=p.array(FilteredOutput[:,0]) I got this syntax from the following link. But the problem is that I am getting the following error message: TypeError: list indices must be integers, not tuple Can anyone show me the proper syntax for populating the 1d array timeSeriesArray with the contents of the second column of the 2d array FilteredOutput?

  • Get particular row as series from pandas dataframe

    - by Pratyush
    How do we get a particular filtered row as series? Example dataframe: >>> df = pd.DataFrame({'date': [20130101, 20130101, 20130102], 'location': ['a', 'a', 'c']}) >>> df date location 0 20130101 a 1 20130101 a 2 20130102 c I need to select the row where location is c as a series. I tried: row = df[df["location"] == "c"].head(1) # gives a dataframe row = df.ix[df["location"] == "c"] # also gives a dataframe with single row In either cases I can't the row as series.

  • Images to video - converting to IplImage makes video blue

    - by user891908
    I want to create a video from images using opencv. The strange problem is that if i will write image (bmp) to disk and then load (cv.LoadImage) it it renders fine, but when i try to load image from StringIO and convert it to IplImage, it turns video to blue. Heres the code: import StringIO output = StringIO.StringIO() FOREGROUND = (0, 0, 0) TEXT = 'MY TEXT' font_path = 'arial.ttf' font = ImageFont.truetype(font_path, 18, encoding='unic') text = TEXT.decode('utf-8') (width, height) = font.getsize(text) # Create with background with place for text w,h=(600,600) contentimage=Image.open('0.jpg') background=Image.open('background.bmp') x, y = contentimage.size # put content onto background background.paste(contentimage,(((w-x)/2),0)) draw = ImageDraw.Draw(background) draw.text((0,0), text, font=font, fill=FOREGROUND) pi = background pi.save(output, "bmp") #pi.show() #shows image in full color output.seek(0) pi= Image.open(output) print pi, pi.format, "%dx%d" % pi.size, pi.mode cv_im = cv.CreateImageHeader(pi.size, cv.IPL_DEPTH_8U, 3) cv.SetData(cv_im, pi.tostring()) print pi.size, cv.GetSize(cv_im) w = cv.CreateVideoWriter("2.avi", cv.CV_FOURCC('M','J','P','G'), 1,(cv.GetSize(cv_im)[0],cv.GetSize(cv_im)[1]), is_color=1) for i in range(1,5): cv.WriteFrame(w, cv_im) del w

  • Self Authenticating Links in Django

    - by awolf
    In my web app I would like to be able to email self-authenticating links to users. These links will contain a unique token (uuid). When they click the link the token being present in the query string will be enough to authenticate them and they won't have to enter their username and password. What's the best way to do this?

  • Removing a node from a linked list

    - by lost_with_coding
    I would like to create a delete_node function that deletes the node at the location in the list as a count from the first node. So far this is the code I have: class node: def __init__(self): self.data = None # contains the data self.next = None # contains the reference to the next node class linked_list: def __init__(self): self.cur_node = None def add_node(self, data): new_node = node() # create a new node new_node.data = data new_node.next = self.cur_node # link the new node to the 'previous' node. self.cur_node = new_node # set the current node to the new one. def list_print(self): node = ll.cur_node while node: print node.data node = node.next def delete_node(self,location): node = ll.cur_node count = 0 while count != location: node = node.next count+=1 delete node ll = linked_list() ll.add_node(1) ll.add_node(2) ll.add_node(3) ll.list_print()

  • Django adminsite customize search_fields query

    - by dArignac
    Howdy! In the django admin you can set the search_fields for the ModelAdmin to be able to search over the properties given there. My model class has a property that is not a real model property, means it is not within the database table. The property relates to another database table that is not tied to the current model through relations. But I want to be able to search over it, so I have to somehow customize the query the admin site creates to do the filtering when the search field was filled - is this possible and if, how? I can query the database table of my custom property and it then returns the ids of the model classes fitting the search. This then, as I said, has to flow into the admin site search query. Thanks!
