Is there any difference in (asymptotic) performance between Orders.OrderBy(order => order.Date).First() and Orders.Where(order => order.Date == Orders.Max(x => x.Date)); i.e. will First() perform the OrderBy()? I'm guessing no. MSDN says enumerating the collection via foreach och GetEnumerator does but the phrasing does not exclude other extensions.

Suppose there is Adam as author of works in all tables. So when i put Adam in search box it should result from all tables. I know this can be done by having single table or renaming fields names but that's not required. Please help.

How SQLite on Android handles long stings?

Hi! I'm wondering how Android's implementation of SQLite handles long Strings. Reading from online documentation on sqlite, it said that strings in sqlite are limited to 1 million characters. My strings are definitely smaller. I'm creating a simple RSS application, and after parsing a html document, and extracting text, I'm having problem saving it to a database. I have 2 tables in database, feeds and articles. RSS feeds are correctly saved and retrieved from feeds table, but when saving to the articles table, logcat is saying that it cannot save extracted text to it's column. I don't know if other columns are making problems too, no mention of them in logcat. I'm wondering, since text is from an article on web, are signs like (",',;) creating problems? Is Android automaticaly escaping them, or I have to do that. So I'm trying to get the salesID from my table "sales" that haven't got any rows in the sales_item table. Threadpool with pasistant worker instances

So basically what im trying to do is queue up tasks in a thread pool to be executed as soon as a worker becomes free, i have found various examples of this but in all cases the examples have been setup to use a new Worker instance for each job, i want persistent workers. Im trying to make a ftp backup tool, i have it working but because of the limitations of a single connection it is slow. What i ideally want to do is have a single connection for scanning directories and building up a file list then four workers to download said files. It has a bug. It will omit those FundingId for which the minimum WorkList date is less than latest Letter date (even though it has another worklist with greater than letter created date). SQL Server Composite Primary Keys

I am attempting to replace all records for a give day in a certain table. The table has a composite primary key comprised of 7 fields. One such field is date. I have deleted all records which have a date value of 2/8/2010. When I try to then insert records into the table for 2/8/2010, I get a primary key violation. The records I am attempting to insert are only for 2/8/2010. Since date is a component of the PK, shouldn't there be no way to violate the constraint as long as the date I'm inserting is not already in the table? Thanks in advance.

How do I post to a webservice and display the returned Response in MVC3 Razor Application?

I have need to call a webservice from an HTML helper extension I created (combinbation of Action and Image) and placed in the view as follows @Html.ActionImage("CallService", new { number = ViewBag.number, code = ViewBag.code, account = ViewBag.account, amount = ViewBag.amount }, "~/Content/sb_200x61.png", "Start the Process") I am making the action call and it calls the service and returns a string of the html response, but it doesn't look right. I am using the typical HttpWebRequest to do the POST Action in C# code. Here is the controller action code: public MvcHtmlString CallService(string number, string code, string account, decimal? amount) { string response = MyService.ServiceLayer.ClassName.callService(number, code, account, Convert.ToDecimal(amount); MvcHtmlString mstring = new MvcHtmlString(response); return mstring; } When it returns the string back it's looking like the all styling and js is removed. It that due to MvcHtmlString? Is there a better way to do this? Redirect somehow ?

"); stmnt.setDate(1, new java.sql.Date(cal.getTime())); stmnt.executeQuery(); NOTE: thre is currently an error - cannot find symbol (java.sql.Date) line 4 here db is an instance of a sort of wrapper class that exposes what I need from java.sql - its just getting a prepared statement from my connection object here. Time (the column) is a date time in my database, and I can only see sedDate and setTime method but I want to store both - also my code does not work anyway ;-) if anyone could give me some pointers on inserting a combined date time (current time would be a great help as that's my first goal) into a MySql DB using a prepared statement I would be very grateful.
