  • No sound in any web browser(s)

    Hello I recently tried to compile and update alsa from source via this guide http://www.stchman.com/alsa_update.html. Afterwards the sound in any web browser I open Firefox, Opera, Chrome, Chromium, Iron there is no sound on any pages. I went back through the script listed on the site and found where it had installed the drivers and deleted it and than re-installed alsa via synaptic. Though I still have no sound in my browser(s). All system sounds work as they are supposed to only web sounds don't work. Here is my alsabase.conf http://paste.ubuntu.com/1073135/ also a snapshot of alsamixer Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank You and let me know if any more information is required.

    Hey all, Recently, I uploaded a new site to an existing domain and I'd like to figure out how I can forward all links to said domain to a new domain. I'm looking for a wordpress solution if possible, but in the end I I seem myself writing a small header script that I will paste into ever directory's index file saying header('Location:http://xxx.yyy.zzz') Is there a cleaner way to do this without having to resort to managing the whole file structure? No, I do not have access to the apache runtime. Unfortunately it is a shared-host server. Thanks in advance.

    I want to use certain parts of the Game State Management Example in a game I'm making, but I'm not sure how to do this legally. It says in the license that I'm supposed to include a copy of the license with it. So if I make a Visual Studio Solution, I just add the license.txt to the solution? Also, if I use a class and change it, do I have to keep the license info at the top or add that I changed it or what?

  • Windows 7 won't boot? Tried Boot Repair (dual-boot)

    I downloaded Ubuntu and installed it so that my computer was dual boot. The first day, Ubuntu and Windows both worked great. Unfortunately, the next day, after messing around on Compiz Config Settings Manager to get the rotation cube, I tried booting into windows 7, and it wouldn't boot. It just goes to the screen where the Windows logo comes up and says Windows 7, and then reboots without even displaying an error message.   • Ubuntu "Server" but with a better terminal?

    I'm currently using Ubuntu Server installed in VirtualBox for running various server services. The only drawback it posses for me is that I cannot use mouse in the terminal and select/copy/paste stuff. What would be an alternative in this situation to get a better terminal? I guess Ubuntu Server itself doesn't support mouse, so I'd have to go for Ubuntu Desktop, but it seems like a huge waste of resources to run Unity/Gnome3 in VirtualBox only to have a terminal. So then I'm wondering whether Xubuntu/Lubuntu would be suitable alternatives, although they still take a lot of time to boot up, etc. Any ideas how to solve this scenario?

  • Ubuntu 11.04 windows XP dual boot problem

    I have installed Ubuntu 11.04 direct from installation disk in a separate partition alongside an existing Windows XP installation. Ubuntu operates fine. I can see the old XP file system and the other network computer and access the internet. The problem is when the computer starts I get the boot selection list for Ubuntu or XP; but I am not allowed to select Windows XP (I cannot scroll down the list with tab or arrows keys). This would be fine for me but the computer is used by other people who are only familiar with windows XP at the moment. I have downloaded and run Boot Repair.   • Unable to boot OS X after installing Ubuntu 12.04

    I installed Ubuntu 12.04 on my MB (aluminium late 2008). After installing Ubuntu I am unable to boot into OS X. Sequence of events: Install reFit on OS X Install Ubuntu on a partitioned drive. I also installed grub. Now when I boot my MB only the grub menu shows up. When I select OS X under grub I see a black screen for a while and the machine restarts (when selecting OS X 64 bit) or it hangs indefinitely(OS X 32 bit). Could you please help?   • Why wont SVN work on the Google Code Source? [closed]

    I installed SVN Toroise. I then proceeded to the desktop and right clicked and clicked on SVN checkout. I then entered under the URL of Repository "http://apple-crunch.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/ apple-crunch-read-only" but after a few seconds the checkout fails saying that the URL doesn't exist. I got the command line from http://code.google.com/p/apple-crunch/source/checkout I'm trying to get a direct copy instead of browsing through the source.

    I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 on my computer, but at the end of the installation it gave me an error and it didn't install grub2. Installing GRUB there could result in FILESYSTEM DESTRUCTION if valuable data is overwritten by grub-setup (--skip-fs-probe disables this check, use at your own risk). I fashioned this handy script to swap the left and right mouse buttons over: [My mouse is a Razer] /usr/bin/xinput set-button-map `xinput list | grep 'Razer' | grep -o \=[0-9]* | grep -o [0-9]*$` 3 2 1 4 5 6 7 8 1 10 11 12 13 When I run this in a Terminal it works. When I go to Startup Application Preferences - Add and then literally paste the above into the command field as an 'Additional startup program' It does not run on startup. Why not? I'm using Ubuntu 11-10 but this also applied to the 10-10
