  • Bullet indents in PowerPoint 2007 compatibility mode via .NET interop issue

    Hello. I've got a really difficult bug and I can't see the fix. The subject drives me insane for real for a long time. Let's consider the following scenario: 1) There is a PowerPoint 2003 presentation. It contains the only slide and the only shape, but the shape contains a text frame including a bulleted list with a random textual representation structure. 2) There is a requirement to get bullet indents for every bulletted paragraph using PowerPoint 2007. I can satisfy the requirement opening the presentation in the compatibility mode and applying the following VBA script: With ActivePresentation Dim sl As Slide: Set sl = .Slides(1) Dim sh As Shape: Set sh = sl.Shapes(1) Dim i As Integer For i = 1 To sh.TextFrame.TextRange.Paragraphs.Count Dim para As TextRange: Set para = sh.TextFrame.TextRange.Paragraphs(i, 1) Debug.Print para.Text; para.indentLevel, sh.TextFrame.Ruler.Levels(para.indentLevel).FirstMargin Next i End With that produces the following output: A 1 0 B 1 0 C 2 24 D 3 60 E 5 132 Obviously, everything is perfect indeed: it has shown the proper list item text, list item level and its bullet indent. But I can't see the way of how I can reach the same result using C#. What's it? I've got problems here. First, the paragraph.Text value is trimmed until the '\r' character is found (however paragraph.Text[0] really returns the first character O_o). But it's ok, I can shut my eyes to this. But... But, second, I can't understand why the first margins are always zero and it does not matter which level they belong to. They are always zero in the compatibility mode... It's hard to believe it... :) So is there any way to fix it or just to find a workaround? I'd like to accept any help regarding to the solution of the subject. I can't even find any article related to the issue. :( Probably you have ever been face to face with it... Or is it just a bug with no fix and must it be reported to Microsoft? Thanks you.

  • Emacs persistent folding mode

    There are plenty of ways to fold code in Emacs and I've settled in on using the outline minor mode... it works great! However, I really want my folding to be persisted when I close and re-open files. It is quite frustrating to have folding set up in a file the way I like it, only to have that lost when I restart Emacs. Has anyone found a way to keep the folding state of a file persistent?

  • How to locate chrome bookmarks in linux

    I upgraded from Karmic Koala to Lucid Lynx beta, was working fine for a while (was even rebooting). But, after some time, it is not booting and i cant find a solution. I have tried installing the grub again, doesn't help. Well, the problem is all my settings, bookmarks and passwords are blocked in that partition. I cant find where the Chrome stores bookmarks in Ubuntu. Can you help me either getting my system rebooted or getting the bookmarks ? Thanks. p.s. I am currently on liveusb.

  • How to load tun module in linux?

    I cannot manage to load the tun module in my archlinux box. I'm trying to connect with openvpn, but the log says nm-openvpn[6662]: Note: Cannot open TUN/TAP dev /dev/net/tun: No such device (errno=19) lsmod | grep tun returns nothing. If I run sudo modprobe tun it returns failure, but no error message, and lsmod still has no tun. The module seems to exist, as there is a tun.ko.gz in /lib/modules/....... I really dont know what else to try. Thanks in advance

  • Great User Group if based near Gloucester + Links from Entity Framework 4.0 session

    I had a really fun evening doing “my final” EF 4.0 session last night (26th May 2010) at GL.NET based out of Gloucester (although secretly I made it into a IronRuby and Windows Azure session). They are a great crowd and Jimmy makes for a fantastic host + it is a very nice venue (Symantec offices in Gloucester, lots of parking, good room etc) + free pizza + free SWAG + trip to pub afterwards (the topics were very varied!). What more could you ask for? The next session is June 16th and will be on multi-tenanted ASP.NET MVC and comes highly recommended.   • Lightest Linux Desktop supporting Firefox/graphic browser

    I am on Windows and I have a remote server with Ubuntu 10.10. I want to use Firefox or other graphic browser on that remote server. The problem is, the server's memory is only 512MB, so I can install larger desktop environment. I used to use XFCE and NoMachine NX, but they consume too much memory on that Ubuntu server. The only thing I want to use is a graphic browser (for example firefox) on that server. Nothing else. Do you have any good suggestions? Thanks a lot!

  • How to remove the graphical user interface?

    Ok my question is that, I want to run a heavy application, on a Virtual Machine (VirtualBox) with just 2 GB RAM (Windows 7 32Bit Host has 4 GB, 3.5 GB effective). Initially I thought of installing Ubuntu Server 12.04.1, which doesn't come with a GUI, so I thought it would be efficient in performance, but I have only Ubuntu 12.04 Desktop. My question is, is it possible to remove the GUI parts in Ubuntu 12.04 Desktop (Not Server), keeping only the core OS, after installation in a virtual machine? Or, is there anyway to improve the performance of the OS? If you need more information, I am ready to provide. I don't want the GUI or anything, even a small terminal window is fine for me, I can access files through FTP.

  • Communication between Page and User Controls

    I have a main page that has multiple user controls on it. All the user controls have static text and some data to be retrieved from the DB. The aysnchronous DB call is clubbed at the page level and one call is made to avoid multiple calls (in the different user controls) to get the same data. I want the page and user controls to load initially with the static text and later refresh the contents obtained from the server. To sum it all up, Page Loads = Asyn calls fired on page load = Data received back from the server (XML/text/whatever) = User controls to load with this data using AJAX. What methods do I have to let the user controls know that I have the data from the server and they need to update with this data?

  • Sphinx 2.0.8 with Postgresql 9.2.4

    I want to install Sphinx 2.0.8 from source on CentOS 5.6 with PostgreSQL 9.2.4 my server type : Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.18-348.6.1.el5 #1 SMP Tue May 21 15:29:55 EDT 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux. First, i compile with : ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/sphinx --with-pgsql --without-mysql --with-pgsql-libs=/var/lib/pgsql/9.2/data/ --with-pgsql-includes=/usr/pgsql-9.2/include/ then it seems work, but after i run make errors appeared /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lpq I have installed postgresql92-devel and libs also libpqxxx and worked with that error all day long but i am not solve that yet.   • User Acceptance Testing Defect Classification when developing for an outside client

    I am involved in a large development project in which we (a very small start up) are developing for an outside client (a very large company). We recently received their first output from UAT testing of a fairly small iteration, which listed 12 'defects', triaged into three categories : Low, Medium and High. The issue we have is around whether everything in this list should be recorded as a 'defect' - some of the issues they found would be better described as refinements, or even 'nice-to-haves', and some we think are not defects at all. They client's QA lead says that it is standard for them to label every issues they identify as a defect, however, we are a bit uncomfortable about this. Whilst the relationship is good, we don't see a huge problem with this, but we are concerned that, if the relationship suffers in the future, these lists of 'defects' could prove costly for us. We don't want to come across as being difficult, or taking things too personally here, and we are happy to make all of the changes identified, however we are a bit concerned especially as there is a uneven power balance at play in our relationship. Are we being paranoid here? Or could we be setting ourselves up for problems down the line by agreeing to this classification?

  • DB access denied with ASP.Net MVC application after switching to windows authentication mode

    I have a MVC application that I am now trying to add authentication and authorization to. I want to allow users to get to the site and be automatically authenticated. So I set authentication mode="Windows" in the web.config, and enabled NTLM in the project options. The site now shows my domain name in the top right when I run it, but when I hit a action than needs DB access, it tells me access is denied for my user-name? What step am I missing?
