  • matlab: simple matrix filtering - group size

    - by Art
    I have a huuuge matrix storing information about X and Y coordinates of multiple particle trajectories , which in simplified version looks like that: col 1- track number; col 2- frame number; col 2- coordinate X; col 3- coordinate Y for example: A = 1 1 5.14832 3.36128 1 2 5.02768 3.60944 1 3 4.85856 3.81616 1 4 5.17424 4.08384 2 1 2.02928 18.47536 2 2 2.064 18.5464 3 1 8.19648 5.31056 3 2 8.04848 5.33568 3 3 7.82016 5.29088 3 4 7.80464 5.31632 3 5 7.68256 5.4624 3 6 7.62592 5.572 Now I want to filter out trajectories shorter than lets say 2 and keep remaining stuff like (note renumbering of trajectories): B = 1 1 5.14832 3.36128 1 2 5.02768 3.60944 1 3 4.85856 3.81616 1 4 5.17424 4.08384 2 1 8.19648 5.31056 2 2 8.04848 5.33568 2 3 7.82016 5.29088 2 4 7.80464 5.31632 2 5 7.68256 5.4624 2 6 7.62592 5.572 How to do it efficiently? I can think about some ideas using for loop and vertcat, but its the slowest solution ever :/ Thanks!

  • Removing duplicates (within a given tolerance) from a Numpy array of vectors

    - by Brendan
I have an Nx5 array containing N vectors of form 'id', 'x', 'y', 'z' and 'energy'. I need to remove duplicate points (i.e. where x, y, z all match) within a tolerance of say 0.1. Ideally I could create a function where I pass in the array, columns that need to match and a tolerance on the match. Following this thread on Scipy-user, I can remove duplicates based on a full array using record arrays, but I need to just match part of an array. Moreover this will not match within a certain tolerance. I could laboriously iterate through with a for loop in Python but is there a better Numponic way?

  • Sorting 2 arrays that have been added together

    - by tyler
In my app, users can create galleries that their work may or may not be in. Users have and belong to many Galleries, and each gallery has a 'creator' that is designated by the gallery's user_id field. So to get the 5 latest galleries a user is in, I can do something like: included_in = @user.galleries.order('created_at DESC').uniq.first(5) # SELECT DISTINCT "galleries".* FROM "galleries" INNER JOIN "galleries_users" ON "galleries"."id" = "galleries_users"."gallery_id" WHERE "galleries_users"."user_id" = 10 ORDER BY created_at DESC LIMIT 5 and to get the 5 latest galleries they've created, I can do: created = Gallery.where(user_id: id).order('created_at DESC').uniq.first(5) # SELECT DISTINCT "galleries".* FROM "galleries" WHERE "galleries"."user_id" = 10 ORDER BY created_at DESC LIMIT 5 I want to display these two together, so that it's the 5 latest galleries that they've created OR they're in. Something like the equivalent of: (included_in + created).order('created_at DESC').uniq.first(5) Does anyone know how to construct an efficient query or post-query loop that does this?

  • C++: static function member shared between threads, can block all?

    - by mhambra
Hi all, I have a class, which has static function defined to work with C-style extern C { static void callback(foo bar) { } }. // static is defined in header. Three objects (each in separate pthread) are instantiated from this class, each of them has own loop (in class constructor), which can receive the callback. The pointer to function is passed as: x = init_function(h, queue_id, &callback, NULL); while(1) { loop_function(x); } So each thread has the same pointer to &callback. Callback function can block for minutes. Each thread object, excluding the one which got the blocking callback, can call callback again. If the callback function exists only once, then any thread attempting to callback will also block. This would give me an undesired bug, circa is interesting to ask: can anything in C++ become acting this way? Maybe, due to extern { } or some pointer usage?

  • Isolating read and write in multithreaded

    - by the_lotus
Hi In a multithreaded application. I have a bunch of function that loop through a collection to read the information. I also have a bunch of function that modifies that same collection. I’m looking for a way to isolate all the read and the write together. I don’t want a write to be done while a read is in progress. I was thinking of using SyncLock on the collection object but this will block multiple read trying to work in parallel.

  • OpenThread() through diiferent thread numbers ?

    - by user354641
Hi there . I'm confusing about opening different threads with OpenThread Function and examining them with NtQueryInformationThread native function . I have no problem with NtQueryInformationThread & I can examine them finely. the problem is I don't know how to loop through different number of threads using OpenThread (with SetDebugPrivilege Consideration) . suppose we have different threads from number 5100 to 5200 & we want to examine them sequentially : for example 5100, 5101, 5102, 5103, 5104, 5105 ... 5200 ... . I don't know how to use OpenThread Function in delphi in right way ... . I'm using this syntax & I found it wrong : OpenThread(THREAD_ALL_ACCESS,false,(DWORD)5100) . if anyone could guide me how to use OpenThread though different number of threads it would be great . thanks alot .

  • Sql-server Database query help

    - by menacheb
Hi, I have a problem that I didn't manage to solve for a very long time, and I quite desperate. I have a Database (SQL Server) with table named 'ProcessData' and columns named 'Process_Name' (Data Type: nvarchar(50)), 'Start_At' (DataType: DateTime) and 'End_At' (Data Type: DateTime). I need to know for each 'Time-Interval' (let's say 1 minute) how many processes (Process_Name = PN) was open (after or equal to the 'Start_at' column and before or equal to the 'End_At' column) during this time (It can be a few rows with the same data). Does anyone know how to make this query without a 'for' loop? (It ITSELF will promote the time), (The answer will be a table with two columns (1. The time the check took place. 2. the number of open processes at this time.) and a row for each 'Time-Interval' (1 minute in this example ) Many thanks,

  • Putting li's into rows

    - by panthro
I have a long list of li's. <ul> <li> <img src="test.jpg"> </li> <li> <img src="test.jpg"> </li> //etc Each li has this styling: width: 10%; display: inline-block; vertical-align: middle; When I get to more than 10 li's in a row, they go on to the next row. Is this the correct way to do it? or should I wrap each 10 li's into something that breaks the line? What the best/correct method? i intialy chose this method as it would be easily to loop out data from a database.

  • php date() stuck

    - by WAC0020
I am getting the date from my mysql database and that date is correct but when I use the date() function the minute part is stuck a 6 minutes. My mysql is returning 2010-06-15 09:59:18 Then in php I use this code: date('M d,Y H:m A',strtotime($row[4])) ** $row[4] is from my while loop ** When I echo this out I get: Jun 15,2010 9:06 AM I also have tried converting it to unix timestamp in my sql query, does the same thing. I noticed that the hours work and the seconds work but the minutes are stuck at 6. Does anyone have any ideas on what is going on?

  • only return random number when it is unique

    - by phil
    My brain is melting today and i cannot think how to do this simple bit of code. numberList is a string of numbers seperated by commas like '2, 34, 10' etc.. when i request a random number i need to check if the string has the number, if it does i want to keep requesting a random number until the random number is definitely not in the string. i cant think what kind of loop i would do to get this to work: Random r = new Random(); public int RandomPos(int max) { int i; do { i = r.Next(max) + 1; } while (!numberList.Contains(i.ToString())); return i; }

  • Strange macro declaration in C

    - by Andrey Atapin
Exploring libusb-1.0.9 source code, I have found such line (./os/poll_windows.c:78): #define CHECK_INIT_POLLING do {if(!is_polling_set) init_polling();} while(0) As for me this is the same like: #define CHECK_INIT_POLLING if(!is_polling_set) init_polling(); Is there any reason to loop that expression? UPDATE: I couldn't still realize what'd be wrong after the answers, and the following example helped: #include <stdio.h> #define TEST if(test) foo(); #define TEST_DO do { if(test) foo(); } while(0) int test = 1; void foo() { printf("%s", "Foo called"); } int main(int argc, char** argv) { if(argc > 1) TEST_DO; /* LINE 12 */ else printf("%s", "skipping..."); return 0; } If you put TEST at line 12, a compiler will give an error "error: ‘else’ without a previous ‘if’". Hope, this will help someone.

I have been scratching my head with this error for at least an hour, what the heck is wrong here? In a loop: if (selectedItems[x].ImageIndex == 3) { List<ListViewItem> dupes = CP.listCache.FindAll(delegate(ListViewItem item) { return item.Text == selectedItems[x].Text; }); if (dupes != null && dupes.Count == 1) dupes[0].ImageIndex = 0; } I can access the imageIndex, but not set it. ArgumentOutOfRange exception occurs.

  • Python - alternative to list.remove(x)?

    - by Seafoid
Hi, I wish to compare two lists. Generally this is not a problem as I usually use a nested for loop and append the intersection to a new list. In this case, I need to delete the intersection of A and B from A. A = [['ab', 'cd', 'ef', '0', '567'], ['ghy5'], ['pop', 'eye']] B = [['ab'], ['hi'], ['op'], ['ej']] My objective is to compare A and B and delete A intersection B from A, i.e., delete A[0][0] in this case. I tried: def match(): for i in A: for j in i: for k in B: for v in k: if j == v: A.remove(j) list.remove(x) throws a ValueError.

  • In silverlight how do you scrub a string

    - by jvcoach23
I have a string that looks like this " Into" and I can't figure out what the " " value is just before the Into. It's not a space, it's not an enter. At least i don't think so. I've tried doing a replace to get rid of it.. So now i'm just trying to figure out what that character value is. Convert.int32 doesn't get it done... What can i use to get rid of that character... I guess i could write a function that would loop through the alphabet and do it that way.. but figured there was a better way. thanks shannon

  • tiled images in swing

    - by sasquatch90
I have task to prepare two windows with swing. One contains grid of squares, with random numbers in them. In second I need to load pieces of tiled image and then show them in the correct order, forming tiled image. Windows should look like this : http://img535.imageshack.us/img535/3129/lab8a.jpg Okay so how to bite this ? I've used swing only few times to draw some 2d polylines, so basically I just theoretically now what to do. Ok, so window number 1: I start with creating Jframe for the window. Then I do for loop and in it create 16 JLabels with random numbers in them ? How to set margins between each tile and the whole window ? Window number 2 : So I start the same, but instead of loading numbers I add images ? Now, how can I load image from file and then set it as background ?

  • jquery specific show buttons on hover

    - by bob
I have an application creating a bunch of divs through a loop. Each div has the class "product" so it looks like <div class="product"> !.....stuff here ....! <div class="show_on_hover">...buttons here... </div> </div> so there are about 12 of these same divs per page. I would like to hover over a specific one and show the specific "show_on_hover" div which is initially set to display:none. $('.product').hover(function() { $(.show_on_hover).show(); }, function () { $(.show_on_hover).hide(); } ); That is what I have so far but it will show ALL of the .show_on_hovers on the page so I am wondering how to get only the specific one you have moused over to show. This effect is seen on youtube when you mouseover any of the comments, and some comment tools pop up. Thanks!

  • Is it a problem if i query again and again to SQL Server 2005 and 2000?

    - by learner
Window app i am constructing is for very low end machines (Celeron with max 128 RAM). From the following two approaches which one is the best (I don't want that application becomes memory hog for low end machines):- Approach One:- Query the database Select GUID from Table1 where DateTime <= @givendate which is returning me more than 300 thousands records (but only one field i.e. GUID - 300 thousands GUIDs). Now running a loop to achieve next process of this software based on GUID. Second Approach:- Query the database Select Top 1 GUID from Table1 where DateTime <= @givendate with top 1 again and again until all 300 thousands records done. It will return me only one GUID at a time, and I can do my next step of operation. What do you suggest which approach will use the less Memory Resources?? (Speed / performance is not the issue here).

  • How to get size of file in visual c++?

    - by karikari
    Below is my code. My problem is, my destination file always has a lot more strings than the originating file. Then, inside the for loop, instead of using i < sizeof more, I realized that I should use i < sizeof file2 . Now my problem is, how to get the size of file2? int i = 0; FILE *file2 = fopen(LOG_FILE_NAME,"r"); wfstream file3 (myfile, ios_base::out); // char more[1024]; char more[SIZE-OF-file2]; for(i = 0; i < SIZE-OF-file2 ; i++) { fgets(more, SIZE-OF-file2, file2); file3 << more; } fclose(file2); file3.close();

  • Trying to add data to sql from link click and return results via jquery or ajax

    - by Jay Schires
I am not familiar with jquery or ajax, but i do know it is whats needed to perform the action I want. I have created a wordpress plugin that updates a database table based on the users click. Right now it refreshes the page to return the results, but I want to stop the page refresh and return data via ajax I believe. If anyone is interested in helping me figure this out I would be very appreciative or even willing to pay. Thanks! Here is the plugin code: function BoardLikeItGetDelim($postid) { global $wp_rewrite; if($wp_rewrite->using_permalinks()) { if(isset($_GET['mbpost'])) return "?mbpost=".$postid."&"; return "?"; } else { if(isset($_GET['mbpost'])) return "&mbpost=".$postid."&"; return "&"; } } function AddBoardLikeItButton($postid) { global $user_ID; if(isset($_GET['board-like-it-action']) && $_GET['board-like-it-action'] == "like" && $_GET['bpid'] == $postid) BoardLikeItLike($user_ID, $_GET['bpid']); if(isset($_GET['board-like-it-action']) && $_GET['board-like-it-action'] == "unlike" && $_GET['bpid'] == $postid) BoardLikeItUnLike($user_ID, $_GET['bpid']); $num_likes = BoardLikeItGetNumLikes($postid); if(!BoardLikeItIsLiked($user_ID, $postid)) echo "<HREF LINK='".BoardLikeItGetDelim($postid)."board-like-it-action=like&bpid=".$postid."#mngl-board-post-message-".$postid."'>Like</a> ".$num_likes."" . • What is the best way to update a field for each row in a table?

    - by pixel
I have a table called artists. Within it, there is a field for the artist name (artist_name). Then there is a field for SEO friendly artist name, we'll call it search_name. I have over 40,000 artists in this table. So, I'd like to convert all artists names to search friendly. What is the best way to accomplish this? Not looking for code here, just ideas. This is what I have thus far. I'm just not sure if I should call all 40,000 artists, loop through them and update? // Does this artist name have any symbols, apostrophes, etc. If so, strip them out // Does this artist have a space (the beatles)? If so, replace with + (the+beatles). // insert into search field

  • How can I use "IF statements" in a postgres trigger

I have a trigger function that I only want to fire on certain instances of INSERTS, in this case, if do_backup = true. If it fires in all instances, I get an infinite loop. The logic seems pretty simple to me, and the rest of the function works. But the trigger function does not seem to register my conditional and always runs, even when backup = true. • int i vs int index etc. Which one is better?

    - by Earlz
Coming from a C background I've always used int i for generic loop variables. Of course in big nested loops or other complex things I may use a descriptive name but which one had you rather see? int i; for(i=0;i<Controls.Count;i++){ DoStuff(Controls[i]); } or int index; for(index=0;index<Controls.Count;index++){ DoStuff(Controls[index]); } In the current project I am working on there are both of these styles and index being replaced by ndx. Which one is better? Is the i variable too generic? Also what about the other C style names? i, j, k Should all of these be replaced by actual descriptive variables?

  • how to set and access variable values from another classess

    - by BittenApple
I am modifying QuartzDemo example app and want to do set and read values of integer type variables in other classes which are already included. For example, in MainViewController.m I want to set a numeric value (simple numbers from 1-100) to a variable which is then going to be called (read) in file QuartzImages.m. Question is how to define variable properly, set and access (read) the value. I am a beginner with Obj C and iPhone SDK in general and have some experience with Delphi and VB but this doesn't help at all :) Thank you, whoever and wherever you are, person who will take me out of this endless googling loop.
