  • iphone NSMutableArray loses objects at end of method

    - by Brodie4598
    Hello - in my app, an NSMutableArray is populated with an object in viewDidLoad (eventually there will be many objects but I'm just doing one til I get it working right). I also start a timer that starts a method that needs to access the NSMutableArray every few seconds. The NSMutableArray works fine in viewDidLoad, but as soon as that method is finished, it loses the object. myApp.h @interface MyApp : UIViewController { NSMutableArray *myMutableArray; NSTimer *timer; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableArray *myMutableArray; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSTimer *timer; @end myApp.m #import "MyApp.h" @implementation MyApp @synthesize myMutableArray; - (void) viewDidLoad { cycleTimer = [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:4.0 target:self selector:@selector(newCycle) userInfo: nil repeats:YES]; MyObject *myCustomUIViewObject = [[MyObject alloc]init]; [myMutableArray addObject:myCustomUIViewObject]; [myCustomUIViewObject release]; NSLog(@"%i",[myMutableArray count]); /////outputs "1" } -(void) newCycle { NSLog(@"%i",[myMutableArray count]); /////outputs "0" ?? why is this?? }

  • 64-bit Alternative for Microsoft Jet

    - by David Robison
    Microsoft has chosen to not release a 64-bit version of Jet, their database driver for Access. Does anyone know of a good alternative? Here are the specific features that Jet supports that I need: Multiple users can connect to database over a network. Users can use Windows Explorer to copy the database while it is open without risking corruption. Access currently does this with enough reliability for what my customers need. Works well in C++ without requiring .Net. Alternatives I've considered that I do not think could work (though my understanding could be incorrect): SQLite: If multiple users connect to the database over a network, it will become corrupted. Firebird: Copying a database that is in use can corrupt the original database. SQL Server: Files in use are locked and cannot be copied. VistaDB: This appears to be .Net specific. Compile in 32-bit and use WOW64: There is another dependency that requires us to compile in 64-bit, even though we don't use any 64-bit functionality.

  • 3.1.3 and 3.2 different behaviour

    - by teo
    I'm using a custom cell in tableView with a UITextField - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleSubtitle reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; UITextField *txtField = [[UITextField alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 280, 24)]; txtField.placeholder = @"<Enter Text>"; txtField.textAlignment = UITextAlignmentLeft; txtField.clearButtonMode = UITextFieldViewModeAlways; txtField.autocapitalizationType = UITextAutocapitalizationTypeNone; txtField.autocorrectionType = UITextAutocorrectionTypeNo; [cell.contentView addSubview:txtField]; [txtField release]; } } This works fine and the UITextField covers the cell. When i run this with 3.2 sdk or on the iPad the UITextField isn't aligned properly to the left, overlapping the cell and i have to use a UITextField width of 270 instead of 280 UITextField *txtField = [[UITextField alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 270, 24)]; It seems something is wrong the pixel ratio. How can this be fixed? Is there a way to determine the version of os the device has ( 3.1.2, 3.1.3, 3.2 or maybe even the 4.0) or can it be done another way? Thank you Teo

  • Excel automation: Close event missing

    - by chiccodoro
    Another hi all, I am doing Excel automation via Interop in C#, and I want to be informed when a workbook is closed. However, there is no Close event on the workbook nor a Quit event on the application. Has anybody done that before? How can I write a piece of code which reacts to the workbook being closed (which is only executed if the workbook is really closed)? Ideally that should happen after closing the workbook, so I can rely on the file to reflect all changes. Details about what I found so far: There is a BeforeClose() event, but if there are unsaved changes this event is raised before the user being asked whether to save them, so at the moment I can process the event, I don't have the final file and I cannot release the COM objects, both things that I need to have/do. I do not even know whether the workbook will actually be closed, since the user might choose to abort closing. Then there is a BeforeSave() event. So, if the user chooses "Yes" to save unsaved changes, then BeforeSave() is executed after BeforeClose(). However, if the user chooses to "Abort", then hits "file-save", the exact same order of events is executed. Further, if the user chooses "No", the BeforeSave() isn't executed at all. The same holds as long as the user doesn't click any of these options.

  • How to give a textbox a fixed width of 17,5 cm?

    - by Natrium
    I have an application with a textbox, and the width of the textbox on the screen must always be 17,5 centimeters on the screen of the user. This is what I tried so far: const double centimeter = 17.5; // the width I need const double inches = centimeter * 0.393700787; // convert centimeter to inches float dpi = GetDpiX(); // get the dpi. 96 in my case. var pixels = dpi*inches; // this should give me the amount of pixels textbox1.Width = Convert.ToInt32(pixels); // set it. Done. private float GetDpiX() { floar returnValue; Graphics graphics = CreateGraphics(); returnValue = graphics.DpiX; graphics.Dispose(); // don’t forget to release the unnecessary resources return returnValue; } But this gives me different sizes with different resolutions. It gives me 13 cm with 1680 x 1050 and 19,5 cm with 1024 x 768. What am I doing wrong?

  • reactivating or binding a hover function in jquery??

    - by mathiregister
    hi guys, with the following three lines: $( ".thumb" ).bind( "mousedown", function() { $('.thumb').not(this).unbind('mouseenter mouseleave'); }); i'm unbinding this hover-function: $(".thumb").hover( function () { $(this).not('.text, .file, .video, .audio').stop().animate({"height": full}, "fast"); $(this).css('z-index', z); z++; }, function () { $(this).stop().animate({"height": small}, "fast"); } ); i wonder how i can re-bind the exact same hover function again on mouseup? the follwoing three lines arent't working! $( ".thumb" ).bind( "mouseup", function() { $('.thumb').bind('mouseenter mouseleave'); }); to get what i wanna do here's a small explanation. I want to kind of deactivate the hover function for ALL .thumbs-elements when i click on one. So all (but not this) should not have the hover function assigned while i'm clicking on an object. If i release the mouse again, the hover function should work again like before. Is that even possible to do? thank you for your help!

  • iphone coredata fetch-request sorting

    - by satyam
    I'm using core data and fetching the results successfully. I've few questions regarding core data 1. When I add a record, will it be added at the end or at the start of entity. 2. I'm using following code to fetch the data. Array is being populated with all the records. But they are not in the same order as I entered records into entity. why? on what basis default sorting is used? NSFetchRequest* allLatest = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; [allLatest setEntity:[NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Latest" inManagedObjectContext:[self managedObjectContext]]]; NSError* error = nil; NSArray* records = [managedObjectContext executeFetchRequest:allLatest error:&error]; [allLatest release]; 3. The way that I enter the records, 1,2,3,4......... after some time, I want to delete the records that I entered first(i mean oldest data). Something like delete oldest two records. How to do it?

  • Getting error when compiling debug mode: C++/CLI - error LNK2022

    - by Yochai Timmer
    I've got a CLI code wrapping a C++ DLL. When i try to compile it in debug mode, i get the following error: Error 22 error LNK2022: metadata operation failed (8013118D) : Inconsistent layout information induplicated types .... MSVCMRTD.lib (locale0_implib.obj) The weird thing is that on Release mode it compiles OK and works OK. The only difference i can see that causes the problem is when i change: Configuration Properties - C/C++ - Code Generation - Runtime Library When it's set to: Multi-threaded Debug DLL (/MDd) it throws the error. When it's set to: Multi-threaded DLL (/MD) it compiles fine. The same settings work for all the other DLLs in the project (CLI and C++) and they inherit the same properties. I'm using VS2010. So, how can i solve this ? And can I get some explanation to WHY this is happening ? Update: I've basically tried changing every option in the project's properties with no luck. I've read somewhere that this might be caused from duplicate declarations of a type of the same name. But in the CLI file i'm calling std::string etc. explicitly from std. Any other ideas ?

  • IPhone Objectvie C

    - by Sea
    I am trying to determine if a UILabel was touched and if so do something. Give .. . . . UILabel * site = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 185, 320, 30)]; site.text = [retriever.plistDict valueForKey:@"url"]; site.textAlignment =UITextAlignmentCenter; site.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; site.textColor = [UIColor whiteColor]; site.userInteractionEnabled = YES; [theBgView addSubview:site]; [site release]; . . . Then I write the callback. - (void)touchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event{ retriever = [PListRetriever sharedInstance]; CGPoint pt = [[touches anyObject] locationInView: self]; NSURL *target = [[NSURL alloc] initWithString:[retriever.plistDict valueForKey:@"url"]]; [[UIApplication sharedApplication] openURL:target]; } The problem is right now, no matter where I touch in the View the Url is being opened. How do I determine if only just my label was touched?

  • Hibernate not saving foreign key, but with junit it's ok

    - by Leonardo
    Hi All, I have this strange problem. In a J2ee webapp with spring, smartgwt and hibernate, it happens that I have a class A wich has a set of class B, both of them mapped to table A and table B. I wrote a simple test case for testing the service manager which is supposed to do insert, update, delete and everything work as expected especially during insert. In the end I have one record in A and records in B with foreign key to A. But when I try to call the service from the web app, the entity in B are saved without a foreign key reference. I am sure that the service is the same. One thing I noticed is that enabling hibernate logging, seems that when the service is called from the application, one more update is made: insert A insert B update A update B update B (foreign key only) update A <--- ??? update B <--- ??? Instead, when junit test case is run, the update is as follows: insert A insert B update A update B update B (foreign key only) I suppose the latest update is what is causing the erroe, maybe it is overwriting values. Considering that the app is using spring, with the well known mechanism of DAO + Manager, where can I investigate to solve this issue ? Someone told me that the session is not closed, so hibernate would do one more update before release the objects by itself. I am pretty sure that all the configuration hbm, xml, and the rest are fine...but I maybe wrong. thanks

  • ASP .NET page runs slow in production

    - by Brandi
    I have created an ASP .NET page that works flawlessly and quickly from Visual Studio. It does a very large database read from a database on our network to load a gridview inside of an update panel. It displays progress in an Ajax modalpopupextender. Of course I don't expect it to be instant what with the large db reads, but it takes on the order of seconds, not on the order of minutes. This is all working great until I put it up on the server - it is very, VERY slow when I access it via the internet - takes several minutes to load the database information into the gridview. I'm baffled why it would not perform the exact same as it had from Visual Studio. (It is in release mode and I have taken off the debug flag) I have since been trying things like eliminating unneeded update panels and throwing out the ajax tool. Nothing has made it any faster on production. It is not the database as far as I know, since it has been consistently fast from my computer (from visual studio) and consistently slow from the server. I am wondering, where do I look next? Has anyone else had this problem before? Could this be caused by update panels or Ajax modalpopupextenders in different parts of the application? Why would the live behaviour differ so much from the localhost behaviour? Both the server with the ASP .NET page and the server with the database are servers on our network. I'm using Visual Studio 2008. Thank you in advance for any insight or advice.

  • How to: generate UnhandledException?

    - by serhio
    I use this code to catch the WinForm application UnhandledException. [STAThread] static void Main(string[] args) { // Add the event handler for handling UI thread exceptions to the event. Application.ThreadException += new System.Threading.ThreadExceptionEventHandler(Application_ThreadException); // Set the unhandled exception mode to force all Windows Forms errors // to go through our handler. Application.SetUnhandledExceptionMode(UnhandledExceptionMode.CatchException); // Add the event handler for handling non-UI thread exceptions to the event. AppDomain.CurrentDomain.UnhandledException += new UnhandledExceptionEventHandler(CurrentDomain_UnhandledException); try { Application.Run(new MainForm()); } catch.... There I will try to restart the application. Now my problem is to simulate a exception like this. I tried before try (in main): throw new NullReferenceException("test"); VS caught it. Tried also in MainForm code with button : private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs ev) { ThreadPool.QueueUserWorkItem(new WaitCallback(TestMe), null); } protected void TestMe(object state) { string s = state.ToString(); } did not help, VS caught it, even in Release mode. How should I, finally, force the application generate UnhandleldException? Will I be able to restart the application in CurrentDomain_UnhandledException?

  • How can I free all allocated memory at once?

    - by Tommy
    Here is what I am working with: char* qdat[][NUMTBLCOLS]; char** tdat[]; char* ptr_web_data; // Loop thru each table row of the query result set for(row_index = 0; row_index < number_rows; row_index++) { // Loop thru each column of the query result set and extract the data for(col_index = 0; col_index < number_cols; col_index++) { ptr_web_data = (char*) malloc((strlen(Data) + 1) * sizeof(char)); memcpy (ptr_web_data, column_text, strlen(column_text) + 1); qdat[row_index][web_data_index] = ptr_web_data; } } tdat[row_index] = qdat[col_index]; After the data is used, the memory allocated is released one at a time using free(). for(row_index = 0; row_index < number_rows; row_index++) { // Loop thru all columns used for(col_index = 0; col_index < SARWEBTBLCOLS; col_index++) { // Free memory block pointed to by results set array free(tdat[row_index][col_index]); } } Is there a way to release all the allocated memory at once, for this array? Thank You.

In test function, if I use [self.navigationController pushViewController:jbc animated:YES]; nothing gets loaded, but if I use [self presentModalViewController:jbc animated:YES]; it loads another view haveing "Back Btn" on it. Case 2: I did create another Navigation Based Applicaton and used [self.navigationController pushViewController:jbc animated:YES]; it worked as I wanted. Can someone please explain why it was not working in Case 1. Does it has something to do with type of project that is selected? @interface MWViewController : UIViewController { } -(void) test; @end @interface JobViewCtrl : UIViewController { } @end @implementation MWViewController (void)viewDidLoad { UIButton* btn = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect]; btn.frame = CGRectMake(80, 170, 150, 35); [btn setTitle:@"Job List!" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [btn addTarget:self action:@selector(test) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [self.view addSubview:btn]; [super viewDidLoad]; } -(void) test { JobViewCtrl* jbc = [[JobViewCtrl alloc] init]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:jbc animated:YES]; //[self presentModalViewController:jbc animated:YES]; [jbc release]; } (void)dealloc { [super dealloc]; } @end @implementation JobViewCtrl -(void) loadView { self.view = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:[[UIScreen mainScreen] applicationFrame]]; self.view.backgroundColor = [UIColor grayColor]; UIButton* btn = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect]; btn.frame = CGRectMake(80, 170, 150, 35); [btn setTitle:@"Back Btn!" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [self.view addSubview:btn]; } @end

  • Extended SurfaceView onDraw never called

  • Hibernate 3.5.0 causes extreme performance problems

    - by user303396
    I've recently updated from hibernate 3.3.1.GA to hibernate 3.5.0 and I'm having a lot of performance issues. As a test, I added around 8000 entities to my DB (which in turn cause other entities to be saved). These entities are saved in batches of 20 so that the transactions aren't too large for performance reasons. When using hibernate 3.3.1.GA all 8000 entities get saved in about 3 minutes. When using hibernate 3.5.0 it starts out slower than with hibernate 3.3.1. But it gets slower and slower. At around 4,000 entities, it sometimes takes 5 minutes just to save a batch of 20. If I then go to a mysql console and manually type in an insert statement from the mysql general query log, half of them run perfect in 0.00 seconds. And half of them take a long time (maybe 40 seconds) or timeout with "ERROR 1205 (HY000): Lock wait timeout exceeded; try restarting transaction" from MySQL. Has something changed in hibernate's transaction management in version 3.5.0 that I should be aware of? The ONLY thing I changed to experience these unusable performance issues is replace the following hibernate 3.3.1.GA jar files: com.springsource.org.hibernate-3.3.1.GA.jar, com.springsource.org.hibernate.annotations-3.4.0.GA.jar, com.springsource.org.hibernate.annotations.common-3.3.0.ga.jar, com.springsource.javassist-3.3.0.ga.jar with the new hibernate 3.5.0 release hibernate3.jar and javassist-3.9.0.GA.jar. Thanks.

  • How to add images while moving finger across UIView?

    - by Luke Irvin
    I am having issues adding an image across a view while moving finger across the screen. Currently it is adding the image multiple times but squeezing them too close together and not really following my touch. Here is what I am trying: -(void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { UITouch * touch = [touches anyObject]; touchPoint = [touch locationInView:imageView]; if (touchPoint.x > 0 && touchPoint.y > 0) { _aImageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:aImage]; _aImageView.multipleTouchEnabled = YES; _aImageView.userInteractionEnabled = YES; [_aImageView setFrame:CGRectMake(touchPoint.x, touchPoint.y, 80.0, 80.0)]; [imageView addSubview:_aImageView]; [_aImageView release]; } } -(void)touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { [self touchesBegan:touches withEvent:event]; } Any suggestions is much appreciated. EDIT: What I want: After taking or choosing an image, the user can then select another image from a list. I want the user to touch and move their finger across the view and the selected image will appear where they drag their finger, without overlapping, in each location.

  • Favourite Features of VS 2010

    - by Noldorin
    With the general public release of Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 today, this latest version has created a lot of hype and interest. Indeed, the opinion I've gauged is that VS 2010 has resolved a great deal of the minor flaws left over from previous versions, as well as added some particularly useful new code editor and project development tools (in particular the Premium/Ultimate versions). My question here is: what are you favourite new features in VS 2010 that have really got you excited? Or similarly, what are the flaws of VS 2008 that you are most glad to have resolved? There is a wealth of changes in VS 2010, of course, but these are some of the ones that have interested me most (about which I know!). Integrated support for F# (with multi-targeting for .NET 2.0 - 4.0)/ Much improved WPF designer. The VS 2008 was more than a bit buggy at times. Great improvements to the code editor, such as call hierarchy viewing. A decent add-in framework. A greatly expanded testing framework (now capable of database testing, for example) in Premium/Ultimate. Project planning and modelling features in Premium/Ultimate. If I could request one point/feature per post, I think that would be best, so we could vote them individually.

  • Are function-local typedefs visible inside C++0x lambdas?

    - by GMan - Save the Unicorns
    I've run into a strange problem. The following simplified code reproduces the problem in MSVC 2010 Beta 2: template <typename T> struct dummy { static T foo(void) { return T(); } }; int main(void) { typedef dummy<bool> dummy_type; auto x = [](void){ bool b = dummy_type::foo(); }; // auto x = [](void){ bool b = dummy<bool>::foo(); }; // works } The typedef I created locally in the function doesn't seem to be visible in the lambda. If I replace the typedef with the actual type, it works as expected. Here are some other test cases: // crashes the compiler, credit to Tarydon int main(void) { struct dummy {}; auto x = [](void){ dummy d; }; } // works as expected int main(void) { typedef int integer; auto x = [](void){ integer i = 0; }; } I don't have g++ 4.5 available to test it, right now. Is this some strange rule in C++0x, or just a bug in the compiler? From the results above, I'm leaning towards bug. Though the crash is definitely a bug. For now, I have filed two bug reports. All code snippets above should compile. The error has to do with using the scope resolution on locally defined scopes. (Spotted by dvide.) And the crash bug has to do with... who knows. :) Update According to the bug reports, they have both been fixed for the next release of Visual Studio 2010.

  • Programming time schedule for porting a program.

    - by Lothar
    I'm working on a large program which has an abstracted GUI API. It is very GUI based, many dialogs and a few nasty features which rely heavily on the message flow of the GUI (correct sequences of focus/mouse/active handling etc.) - not easy to port I now want to port it from the currently used FOX Toolkit to native Cocoa/MFC. I give myself a timeframe until the end of the year but my main work will be to continue development work with the existing toolkit, but there is no planned release for end customers before both tasks are done. My question is how should i spend my time? Stop working on the main program and do a 90% port (about 3 month) of the GUI first Splitting everything into smaller sessions of one month each. Assigning Monday/Tuesday to the GUI project and the rest of the week for the app. Finishing the App first, then port. I think there are three arguments which i need to balance. Motivation, i want to see something going on on both projects Brain Input Overflow, both tasks require a lot of detail information in my brain and sometimes enough is just enough. I guess the porting is intervowen so porting would also require a lot of code changes in the existing code and the new code that will be written in the meantime.

  • NSTimer Reset Not Working

    hi, i have a nstimer and it works perfectly counting down from 2:00 but when i hit the reset button it does not work it just stops the timer and when i press start again it will carry on with the timer as if it had never been stopped. Here is my code `@implementation TimerAppDelegate @synthesize window; (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { timerLabel.text = @"2:00"; seconds = 120; // Override point for customization after application launch [window makeKeyAndVisible]; } (void)viewDidLoad { [timer invalidate]; } (void)countDownOneSecond { seconds--; int currentTime = [timerLabel.text intValue]; int newTime = currentTime - 1; int displaySeconds = !(seconds % 60) ? 0 : seconds < 60 ? seconds : seconds - 60; int displayMinutes = floor(seconds / 60); NSString *time = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d:%@%d", displayMinutes, [[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", displaySeconds] length] == 1 ? @"0" : @"", displaySeconds ]; timerLabel.text = time; if(seconds == 0) { [timer invalidate]; } } (void)startOrStopTimer { if(timerIsRunning){ [timer invalidate]; [startOrStopButton setTitle:@"Start" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; } else { timer = [[NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:1.0 target:self selector:@selector(countDownOneSecond) userInfo:nil repeats:YES] retain]; [startOrStopButton setTitle:@"Stop" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; } timerIsRunning = !timerIsRunning; } (void)resetTimer { [timer invalidate]; [startOrStopButton setTitle:@"Start" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [timer invalidate]; timerLabel.text = @"2:00"; } (void)dealloc { [window release]; [super dealloc]; } @end` thanks

  • How to access webbrowser object on this code? C++

    - by extintor
    I found this example http://www.mvps.org/user32/webhost.cab that host an Internet Explorer WebBrowser object, and it uses this code to access the object void webhostwnd::CreateEmbeddedWebControl(void) { OleCreate(CLSID_WebBrowser,IID_IOleObject,OLERENDER_DRAW,0,&site,&storage,(void**)&mpWebObject); mpWebObject->SetHostNames(L"Web Host",L"Web View"); // I have no idea why this is necessary. remark it out and everything works perfectly. OleSetContainedObject(mpWebObject,TRUE); RECT rect; GetClientRect(hwnd,&rect); mpWebObject->DoVerb(OLEIVERB_SHOW,NULL,&site,-1,hwnd,&rect); IWebBrowser2* iBrowser; mpWebObject->QueryInterface(IID_IWebBrowser2,(void**)&iBrowser); VARIANT vURL; vURL.vt = VT_BSTR; vURL.bstrVal = SysAllocString(L"http://google.com"); VARIANT ve1, ve2, ve3, ve4; ve1.vt = VT_EMPTY; ve2.vt = VT_EMPTY; ve3.vt = VT_EMPTY; ve4.vt = VT_EMPTY; iBrowser->put_Left(0); iBrowser->put_Top(0); iBrowser->put_Width(rect.right); iBrowser->put_Height(rect.bottom); iBrowser->Navigate2(&vURL, &ve1, &ve2, &ve3, &ve4); VariantClear(&vURL); iBrowser->Release(); } I don't have much experience with cpp, I want to know how to access that same ie object (to use Navigate2 for example) from a button or something like that. How could I achieve this?

  • Pointers, am I doing them correctly? Objective-c/cocoa

    - by Chris
    I have this in my @interface struct track currentTrack; struct track previousTrack; int anInt; Since these are not objects, I do not have to have them like int* anInt right? And if setting non-object values like ints, boolean, etc, I do not have to release the old value right (assuming non-GC environment)? The struct contains objects: typedef struct track { NSString* theId; NSString* title; } *track; Am I doing that correctly? Lastly, I access the struct like this: [currentTrack.title ...]; currentTrack.theId = @"asdf"; //LINE 1 I'm also manually managing the memory (from a setter) for the struct like this: [currentTrack.title autorelease]; currentTrack.title = [newTitle retain]; If I'm understanding the garbage collection correctly, I should be able to ditch that and just set it like LINE 1 (above)? Also with garbage collection, I don't need a dealloc method right? If I use garbage collection does this mean it only runs on OS 10.5+? And any other thing I should know before I switch to garbage collected code? Sorry there are so many questions. Very new to objective-c and desktop programming. Thanks
