  • AJAX Panel not throwing exceptions

    - by Grant
    Hi, i have just noticed something strange in some asp.net markup. I have a standard form with a couple of textboxes and a submit button. When clicked the code behind will attempt to perform some logic and then return. If the input values are not valid it used to throw an exception. The moment i wrapped the controls in an AJAX update panel and try to submit bad data, no exception is thrown and the panel returns like nothing was wrong. Does anyone know how to return this to the previous behavior whilst keeping the update panel?

  • How to get a List ordered by the List it's filtered by?

    - by DaveDev
    I have a method as follows. It returns a list of MyTypes which appear to be ordered by myType.Id ascending by default. public List<MyType> GetMyTypes(List<int> ids) { return (from myType in db.MyTypes where ids.Contains(myType.Id) select new MyType { MyValue = myType.MyValue }).ToList(); } So if ids contains 302 300 301 the List returned contains items in ascending order. What do I need to do to return List<MyType> in the order of ids? Thanks edit: I've tried orderby ids.IndexOf(myType.Id) but it throws the exception Method 'Int32 IndexOf(Int32)' has no supported translation to SQL.

  • Dividing n-bit binary integers

    - by Julian
    Was wondering if anyone could help me with creating a pseudocode for how to go about dividing n-bit binary integers. Here is what I'm thinking could possibly work right now, could someone correct this if I'm wrong: divide (x,y) if x=0: return (0,0) //(quotient, remainder) (q,r) = divide(floor(x/2), y) q=2q, r=2r if x is odd: r = r+1 if r >= y: r = r-y, q = q+1 return (q,r) Would you guys say that this general pseudocode algorithm would accomplish the intended task of dividing n-bit numbers or am I missing something in my psuedocode before I start coding up something that's wrong?

  • Rails: saving a string on an object -- syntax problem?

    - by Veep
    Hey there, I am trying to write a simple function to clean a filename string and update the object. When I save a test string it works, but when I try to save the string variable I've created, nothing happens. But when I return the string, the output seems to be correct! What am I missing? def clean_filename clean_name = filename clean_name.gsub! /^.*(\\|\/)/, '' clean_name.gsub! /[^A-Za-z0-9\.\-]/, '_' clean_name.gsub!(/\_+/, ' ') #update_attribute(:filename, "test") #<-- correctly sets filename to test #update_attribute(:filename, clean_name) #<-- no effect????? WTF #return clean_name <-- seems to returns the correct string end Thank you very much.

  • extracting string occurrence in c

    - by David78
    I have a string from a text file that look something like this: long_str = "returns between paragraphs 20102/34.23" - 9203 1232 "test" "basic HTML" Note: Quotes are part of the string. int match(char *long_str){ char * str; if ((str = strchr(long_str, '"')) != NULL) str++; // last " ? else return 1; return 0; } Using strstr I'm trying to get the whole substring between the last two quotes: "basic HTML". I'm just not quite sure what would be a good and efficient way of getting that match. I'm open to any other ideas on how to approach this. Thanks

  • How do I put these: @{$subset}, [@ext_subset], [$last_item] in PHP?

    - by Alex
    I'm having trouble translating a subroutine from Perl to PHP (I'm new to Perl). The entire subroutine is as follows: sub find_all_subsets { if (1 == scalar (@_)) {return [@_]} else { my @all_subsets = () ; my $last_item = pop (@_) ; my @first_subsets = find_all_subsets (@_) ; foreach my $subset (@first_subsets) { push (@all_subsets, $subset) ; my @ext_subset = @{$subset} ; push (@ext_subset, $last_item) ; push (@all_subsets, [@ext_subset]) ; } push (@all_subsets, [$last_item]) ; return (@all_subsets) ; } } My problem is that I really don't quite understand the Perl syntax, so I'm having trouble writing these @{$subset}, [@ext_subset] and [$last_item] in PHP. Thanks and sorry if the question is stupid.

  • Qt drag/drop: cannot move when copy is enabled (Ubuntu Gnome)

    - by Scott
    I'm implementing a view and a model where I want to support both moving items internally (by dragging), and copying items (by pressing Ctrl while dragging). I've done everything I need to do according to the instructions. I've set up the mime functions, I've implemented removeRows(), and flags(). The problem is when I drag, it defaults to a copy operation (I get the arrow cursor with a plus sign, and it indeed copies the item by creating a new one in the model). The only difference I can see is this: If I return only Qt::MoveAction in supportedDropActions(), it only moves. If I return (Qt::CopyAction | Qt::MoveAction), it only copies. Any ideas? I want it to work like files in Nautilus (Gnome) or Windows file Explorer: drag moves icons around, ctrl+drag copies them.

  • Misunderstanding function pointer - passing it as an argument

    - by Stef
    I want to pass a member function of class A to class B via a function pointer as argument. Please advise whether this road is leading somewhere and help me fill the pothole. #include <iostream> using namespace std; class A{ public: int dosomeA(int x){ cout<< "doing some A to "<<x <<endl; return(0); } }; class B{ public: B(int (*ptr)(int)){ptr(0);}; }; int main() { A a; int (*APtr)(int)=&A::dosomeA; B b(APtr); return 0; } This brilliant piece of code leaves me with the compiler error: cannot convert int (A::*)(int)' toint (*)(int)' in initialization Firstly I want it to compile. Secondly I don't want dosomeA to be STATIC.

  • Foreign Key Relationships

    - by Yehonathan Quartey
    I have two models class Subject(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=100,choices=COURSE_CHOICES) created = models.DateTimeField('created', auto_now_add=True) modified = models.DateTimeField('modified', auto_now=True) syllabus = models.FileField(upload_to='syllabus') def __unicode__(self): return self.name and class Pastquestion(models.Model): subject=models.ForeignKey(Subject) year =models.PositiveIntegerField() questions = models.FileField(upload_to='pastquestions') def __unicode__(self): return str(self.year) Each Subject can have one or more past questions but a past question can have only one subject. I want to get a subject, and get its related past questions of a particular year. I was thinking of fetching a subject and getting its related past question. Currently am implementing my code such that I rather get the past question whose subject and year correspond to any specified subject like this_subject=Subject.objects.get(name=the_subject) thepastQ=Pastquestion.objects.get(year=2000,subject=this_subject) I was thinking there is a better way to do this. Or is this already a better way? Please Do tell ?

  • How to assure applying order of function decorators in Python?

    - by Satoru.Logic
    Some decorators should only be used in the outermost layer. A decorator that augments the original function and add a configure parameter is one example. from functools import wraps def special_case(f): @wraps(f) def _(a, b, config_x=False): if config_x: print "Special case here" return return f(a, b) How can I avoid decorators like this getting decorated by another decorator? EDIT It is really disgusting to let everyone trying to apply a new decorator worry about the application order. So, is it possible to avoid this kind of situation? Is it possible to add a config option without introducing a new parameter?

  • Review of a locked part of an function in C#.NET

    - by Lieven Cardoen
    Is this piece of code where I lock a part of the function correct? Or can it have use drawbacks when multiple sessions ask concurrently for the same Exam? Purpose is that client that first asks for the Exam will assemble it, all next clients will get the cached version. public Exam GetExamByExamDto(ExamDTO examDto, int languageId) { Log.Warn("GetExamByExamDto"); lock (LockString) { if (!ContainsExam(examDto.id, languageId)) { Log.Warn("Assembling ExamDto"); var examAssembler = new ExamAssembler(); var exam = examAssembler.createExam(examDto); if (AddToCache(exam)) { _examDictionary.Add(examDto.id + "_" + languageId, exam); } Log.Warn("Returning non cached ExamDto"); return exam; } } Log.Warn("Returning cached ExamDto"); return _examDictionary[examDto.id + "_" + languageId]; } I have a feeling that this isn't the way to do it.

  • How does make_pair know the types of its args?

    - by bobobobo
    The definition for make_pair in the MSVC++ "utility" header is: template<class _Ty1, class _Ty2> inline pair<_Ty1, _Ty2> make_pair(_Ty1 _Val1, _Ty2 _Val2) { // return pair composed from arguments return (pair<_Ty1, _Ty2>(_Val1, _Val2)); } I use make_pair all the time though without putting the argument types in angle brackets: map<string,int> theMap ; theMap.insert( make_pair( "string", 5 ) ) ; Shouldn't I have to tell make_pair that the first argument is std::string and not char* ? How does it know?

  • Multiple WCF Services implementing same Service Contract interface

    - by andrewczwu
    Is it possible for multiple wcf services to implement the same service contract interface? What I want to do is allow for a test service to be interchangeable for the real service, and to specify which service to be used in the configuration file. For example: [ServiceContract] public interface IUselessService { [OperationContract] string GetData(int value); } Test implementation public class TestService : IUselessService { public string GetData(int value) { return "This is a test"; } } Real class public class RealService : IUselessService { public string GetData(int value) { return string.Format("You entered: {0}", value); } }

  • Need help with jquery sorting

    - by Klerk
    I have a column within which are multiple 'records' (each a div). Each record has a bunch of fields (each a span whose id is the fieldname). I want to allow the user to sort all the records based on a field. I also want, the field that has been sorted to be moved to the beginning of the record. So I came up with this. But its really slow for a large sets. Not sure whats the best way to do this. Any ideas? $(".col1 div").sort( function (a,b) { if($(a).children("."+field).text() > $(b).children("."+field).text()) return -1; else return 1; }).appendTo(".col1");

  • including a string as a parameter to a function in a header file? c++

    - by Nara
    hello everyone, total newbie is here :) i have this header file, zeeheader.h, and i wrote some classes in it, i'm having problems giving a string as a parameter to one of the functions: class DeliTest { public: void DeliCheck(Stack*,string); void ComCheck (unsigned,string); bool EofCheck (unsigned,string); }; as i was implementinng it in the cpp file, i added #include to it, it seemed to be working, for example : as i was writing the "data." i got the "length()" appear by the intellisense, so i thought that it was working, but it wasn't. i got errors like: syntax error : identifier 'string' overloaded member function not found in 'DeliTest' this is one of the fucntions in the cpp file: bool DeliTest::EofCheck(unsigned i, string data) { if (i == data.length()-1) return 1; return 0; } am i supposed to be adding something to the header file??

  • Cannot submit form when disabling JSF page

    - by Steve
    Simple submit button. <h:commandButton actionListener="#{regBean.findReg}" action="#{regBean.navigate}" value="Search" /> The form tag is displayed like so: <h:form onsubmit="this.disabled=true;busyProcess();return true;"> This is so if the submit button is pressed, the page shows a "busy" icon until request is processed. The problem is, the request is never submitted and it never reaches the backend. However, if I instead take out the "disabled" call like so: <h:form onsubmit="busyProcess();return true;"> Everything works. Any ideas?

  • C++ OOP: Which functions to put into the class?

    - by oh boy
    Assume I have a class a: class a { public: void load_data( ); private: void check_data( ); void work_data( ); void analyze_data( ); } Those functions all do something with the class or one of its members. However this function: bool validate_something( myType myData ) { if ( myData.blah > 0 && myData.blah < 100 ) { return true; } return false; } Is related to the class and will only be called by it, so it won't be needed anywhere else Doesn't do anything with the class or its members - just a small "utility" function Where to put validate_something? Inside or outside the class?
