  • Threading multiple WebBrowser in VB .net

    - by Code_Seeker
I'm building a multiple webbrowser inside tabs( 1 predefine webbrowser control per tab) and I want them all to load at the same time or other words must run in thread. Unfortunately I feel a valid fact came from the error message that this is something not possible. Pls help me to check my simple program code below and its error in case i tried releasing 2 webbrowser controls but when I leave it to single web browser control it works fine. Any workaround? Imports System.Threading Public Class Form1 Dim mythread1 As Thread Dim mythread2 As Thread Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load mythread1 = New Thread(AddressOf mysub1) mythread2 = New Thread(AddressOf mysub2) mythread1.IsBackground = True mythread2.IsBackground = True mythread1.Start() mythread2.Start() End Sub Public Sub mysub1() Dim HTML As String WebBrowser1.Navigate("about:blank") mythread1.Abort() End Sub Public Sub mysub2() WebBrowser2.Navigate("about:blank") mythread2.Abort() End Sub

  • In Python, how to use a C++ function which returns an allocated array of structs via a ** parameter?

    - by Jon-Eric
    I'd like to use some existing C++ code, NvTriStrip, in a Python tool. SWIG easily handles the functions with simple parameters, but the main function, GenerateStrips, is much more complicated. What do I need to put in the SWIG interface file to indicate that primGroups is really an output parameter and that it must be cleaned up with delete[]? /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// // GenerateStrips() // // in_indices: input index list, the indices you would use to render // in_numIndices: number of entries in in_indices // primGroups: array of optimized/stripified PrimitiveGroups // numGroups: number of groups returned // // Be sure to call delete[] on the returned primGroups to avoid leaking mem // bool GenerateStrips( const unsigned short* in_indices, const unsigned int in_numIndices, PrimitiveGroup** primGroups, unsigned short* numGroups, bool validateEnabled = false ); FYI, here is the PrimitiveGroup declaration: enum PrimType { PT_LIST, PT_STRIP, PT_FAN }; struct PrimitiveGroup { PrimType type; unsigned int numIndices; unsigned short* indices; PrimitiveGroup() : type(PT_STRIP), numIndices(0), indices(NULL) {} ~PrimitiveGroup() { if(indices) delete[] indices; indices = NULL; } };

  • Performance of Managed C++ Vs UnManaged/native C++

    - by bsobaid
I am writing a very high performance application that handles and processes hundreds of events every millisecond. Is Unmanaged C++ faster than managed c++? and why? Managed C++ deals with CLR instead of OS and CLR takes care of memory management, which simplifies the code and is probably also more efficient than code written by "a programmer" in unmanaged C++? or there is some other reason? When using managed, how can one then avoid dynamic memory allocation, which causes a performance hit, if it is all transparent to the programmer and handled by CLR? So coming back to my question, Is managed C++ more efficient in terms of speed than unmanaged C++ and why?

  • Using Cases to change background colour | Visual Studio 2008

    - by Simon
I really need help working with cases, I'm only learning it so far, but just can't get a drop down menu to work that would change the background of a Textbox. Private Sub cbColours_SelectedIndexChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cbColours.SelectedIndexChanged Select Case colours Case Is = "Red" txtSpace.BackColor = Color.Red Case Is = "Blue" txtSpace.BackColor = Color.Blue Case Is = "Green" txtSpace.BackColor = Color.Green End Select End Sub It isn't doing anything at all... In the dropdown menu, it has Red, Blue and Green one per line When the value (e.g. Green) is clicked, it will then change the Textbox to the colour selected. Many help appreciated :)

  • Parsing and validating arbitrary date formats in ruby (on rails)

    - by Matt Briggs
I have a requirement to handle custom date formats in an existing app. The idea is that the users have to do with multiple formats from outside sources they have very little control over. We will need to be able to take the format and both validate Dates against it, as well as parse strings specifically in that format. The other thing is that these can be completely arbitrary, like JA == January, FE == February, etc... to my understanding, chronic only handles parsing (and does it in a more magical way then I can use), and enter code here DateTime#strptime comes close, but doesn't really handle the whole two character month scenario, even with custom formatters. The 'nuclear' option is to write in custom support for edge cases like this, but I would prefer to use a library if something like this exists.

  • Getting data from a ListView into an array

    - by Joe
I have a ListView control on my form set up like this in details mode: What I would like to do, is get all the values of the data cells when the user presses the Delete booking button. So using the above example, my array would be filled with this data: values(0) = "asd" values(1) = "BS1" values(2) = "asd" values(3) = "21/04/2010" values(4) = "2" This is my code so far: Private Sub Button3_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button3.Click Dim items As ListView.SelectedListViewItemCollection = _ Me.ManageList.SelectedItems Dim item As ListViewItem Dim values(0 To 4) As String Dim i As Integer = 0 For Each item In items values(i) = item.SubItems(i).Text i = i + 1 Next End Sub But only values(0) gets filled with the first data cell of the selection (in this case "asd") and the rest of the array entries are blank. I have confirmed this with a breakpoint and checked the array entries myself. I'm REALLY lost on this, and have been trying for about an hour now. Any help would be appreciated, thanks :) Also please note that there can only be one row selection at once. Thanks.

  • Bind a WPF combobox and get selecteditem to a richtextbox

    - by Peter
Hi, I am using a dataset on the server, in this dataset I have a datatable that calls a stored procedure and returns column names from three tables. I call this stored procedure using a web service. I manage to show all the column names in my combobox but when I want to click a button and insert selected column name into a richtextbox I get System.Data.DataRowView in the textbox instead. My code: 'the combobox 'if I don't have this textblock all the values are shown vertical instead of the normal horizontal lines 'the stored procedure SELECT COLUMN_NAME FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS WHERE (TABLE_NAME = 'Customer') OR (TABLE_NAME = 'Invoices') OR (TABLE_NAME = 'Orders') 'the button Private Sub btnAddColumnNames_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs) Handles btnAddColumnNames.Click ' Add column names to the richtextbox Dim tr As New TextRange(rtbText.Selection.Start, rtbText.Selection.End) tr.Text = cboColumnNames.SelectedItem.ToString() rtbText.Focus() End Sub Any suggestions on how to get the selected text in the combobox to the richtextbox? Any help is appreciated.

  • How do we name test methods where we are checking for more than one condition?

    - by Sandbox
I follow the technique specified in Roy Osherove's The Art Of Unit Testing book while naming test methods - MethodName_Scenario_Expectation. It suits perfectly well for my 'unit' tests. But,for tests that I write in 'controller' or 'coordinator' class, there isn't necessarily a method which I want to test. For these tests, I generate multiple conditions which make up one scenario and then I verify the expectation. For example, I may set some properties on different instances, generate an event and then verify that my expectation from controller/coordinator is being met. Now, my controller handles events using a private event handler. Here my scenario is that, I set some properties, say 3 condition1,condition2 and condition3 Also, my scenario includes an event is raised I don't have a method name as my event handler is private. How do I name such a test method?

  • Using Function return in global variable vb.net

    - by Cold Assassin
Can't seem to figure out how to use a function return variable in global Dims example code: Public Class Main Dim Path As String = FixPath() Dim fixwrongtxt As String = Path & "tryme.txt" Private Sub Main_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load FixPath() On_load() End Sub Private Function FixPath() As String Path = "C:\test" MsgBox(Path) //First Message Box' Return Path End Function Sub On_load() MsgBox(fixwrongtxt) //Second Message Box End Sub End Class when I run it all I get the first message box that contains "C:\test" and I click ok and on the second messagebox I get "custom.dll" with out the "C:\test" or "Path Return" What am I doing wrong? I know I can't use // in vb.net. I have also tried adding "FixPath()" under Sub On_load() but got same result. Also the reason I have to have these global is because I have around 30 Subs that refer to "Path" Variable... Thanks

  • Where would async calls make sense in an ASP.net (MVC) Web Application?

    - by Michael Stum
I'm just wondering, if I have an ASP.net Web Application, either WebForms or MVC, is there any situation where doing stuff asynchronously would make sense? The Web Server already handles threading for me in that it spins up multiple threads to handle requests, and most request processing is rather simple and straight forward. I see some use for when stuff truly is a) expensive and b) can be parallelized. but these are the minority cases (at least from what I've encountered). Is there any gain from async in the simple "Read some input, do some CRUD, display some output" scenario?

  • How would I strip an '&' symbol out of an ESRI dropdown before any of it's default control logic is

    - by Carter
I have an ESRI dropdown control inside of an ESRI toolbar. One of the items in the dropdown needs to have an '&' symbol in it. As it turns out ESRI stuff builds it's callback strings as & delimited strings, so when an item is selected the parent toolbar immediately builds and handles the callback string. At one point it splits strings based on the '&' crashing the app. In effect, having an ampersand in an esri dropdown causes nasty stuff to happen when you select the item. What I need to do is find out how I can hop in before the callback stuff starts happening and strip that & out. I was thinking that perhaps I'd have to create a custom esri toolbar control, but I'm not sure and that'd be pretty undesirable. Any ideas?

  • Best way to perform authentication on every request

    - by Nik
Hello. In my asp.net mvc 2 app, I'm wondering about the best way to implement this: For every incoming request I need to perform custom authorization before allowing the file to be served. (This is based on headers and contents of the querystring. If you're familiar with how Amazon S3 does rest authentication - exactly that). I'd like to do this in the most perfomant way possible, which probably means as light a touch as possible, with IIS doing as much of the actual work as possible. The service will need to handle GET requests, as well as writing new files coming in via POST/PUT requests. The requests are for an abitrary file, so it could be: GET http://storage.foo.com/bla/egg/foo18/something.bin POST http://storage.foo.com/else.txt Right now I've half implemented it using an IHttpHandler which handles all routes (with routes.RouteExistingFiles = true), but not sure if that's the best, or if I should be hooking into the lifecycle somewhere else? Many thanks for any pointers. (IIS7)

  • Recommendations for C# controls that can be used to create a hierarchical list of prioritised items?

    - by Mendokusai
I need to be able to display and edit a hierarchical list of tasks in a C# app. It can either be a Windows form app, or ASP.NET. Basically, I want similar behaviour to the way Microsoft Project handles tasks. The control would need to: 1) Maintain a list of items made up of several fields 2) Each item can have a number of children (at least 3 levels of nesting) 3) It needs to be very easy to change the parents/children of an item 4) It needs to be very easy to edit the fields (as fast as changing cells in Excel) 5) It needs to be very easy to reorder the items by dragging and dropping or cut and paste 6) If I can easily connect the control to a database, even better Anyone got any recommendations for controls for me to look at?

  • Servicestack CorsFeature Global Options Handler Not Firing on Certain Routes;

    - by gizmoboy
I've got a service setup using the CorsFeature, and am using the approach that mythz suggested in other answers, collected in a function used in the appHost file: private void ConfigureCors(Funq.Container container) { Plugins.Add(new CorsFeature(allowedOrigins: "*", allowedMethods: "GET, POST, PUT, DELETE, OPTIONS", allowedHeaders: "Content-Type, Authorization, Accept", allowCredentials: true)); PreRequestFilters.Add((httpReq, httpRes) => { //Handles Request and closes Responses after emitting global HTTP Headers if (httpReq.HttpMethod == "OPTIONS") { httpRes.EndRequest(); } }); } However, the pre-request filter is only firing on some of the service requests. One of the base entities we have in the service is a question entity, and there are custom routes defined as follows: [Route("/question")] [Route("/question/{ReviewQuestionId}", "GET,DELETE")] [Route("/question/{ReviewQuestionId}/{ReviewSectionId}", "GET")] Using POSTMAN to fire test queries (all using the OPTIONS verb), we can see that this will fire the pre-request filter: http://localhost/myservice/api/question/ But this will not: http://localhost/myservice/api/question/66 Presumably, this is because the second and third routes explicitly defined the verbs they accept, and OPTIONS isn't one of them. Is it really necessary to spell out OPTIONS in every defined route that restricts the verbs supported?

  • How to represent datetime of deifferent time zomes in C#

    - by Mohoch
Hi. I have a .NET WebService (written in C#), that is supposed to serve people around the world. With each request I get the user's datetime in his own time zone with the format : "yyyy/MM/dd HH:mm ZZZZ". I have to convert the string to something representing the original date and time and specifying the time zone in GMT. I have to make some logical calculations and keep it in the database. The regular DateTime doe's not support this. it does not have a property specifying the time zone. When I try to convert my string into DateTime - it simply converts it to my local time. I do not want to keep my time in UTC, because I have some logic that has to run per user by his own time. Does anyone know a C# class that handles this? Thanks!

  • Can't inherit from auto_str without problems

  • Any Google API in perl working with OAuth

    - by Julien
Hello, I've looked at Net::Google, and 90% of the modules use AuthSub with a mandatory login/password. The right way for a web application to interact with Google applications on behalf of a customer is to use OAuth. That way, the authentication is done by Google, and the application does not know the user's password. This is supported by Net::Google::DocumentsList for example. Are you aware of modules that can work well with Picasa and Blogger, for example, using OAuth. The current Net::Google::PicasaWeb handles read-only queries, no add/remove/update actions.

  • mod rewrite, title slugs and htaccess

    - by chris
I have been taken in to provide some seo guidance on a website which has been running since 2005. My problem is i want to use clean urls. The code that handles the url is hidden away in some class file.. and with over a few thousand lines of code its a struggle to rewrite it. So I'm think, I have gone through all the products and created a slug for them as a field in the product table. Is it possible to do something like an intermediate file for htaccess. Some thing like 1./clean-slug-comes-in/ 2.htaccess catches this and uses slug.php to find the relevant product id for the slug. 3.Then product.php?id=(ID.found.from.2) is loaded?

  • "SendMessage" to 3 different processes in C++

    - by user1201889
I want to send keystrokes to multiple processes. For example, if I press “1”, then I want to send the “1” to 3 "Notepad windows". Frist I want to try to send a keystroke to notepad, but it fails on the HWND: //HANDLE hWin; HWND windowHandle = FindWindowA(NULL, "Notepad"); //Can’t find a proccess //Send a key if( windowHandle ) //This one fails { while(true) { if( GetAsyncKeyState(VK_F12) != 0 ) { SendMessageA(windowHandle, WM_KEYDOWN, VK_NUMPAD1, 0); Sleep(1000); SendMessageA(windowHandle, WM_KEYUP, VK_NUMPAD1, 0); } Sleep(100); } } But the "FindWindow" method is not good enough for my program. There is also no way to get 3 different processes with the same name. So how can I make 3 handles to 3 different processes with the same name? And how can I send key’s to the processes?

  • Do I need a view controller for MVVM-light in Silverlight?

    - by Stefan de Vogelaere
I have the following question regarding MVVM light: what "drives" the UI? I see I can have a ViewModel per View I am showing; the ViewLocator handles all the ViewModels (for caching as I understand). But what is driving the UI? If I have a Command defined in my ViewModel that says "ShowDetail"; do I have to write the code for displaying this View inside the ViewModel? Are there any examples of this? Thanks!

  • How to prevent UI from freezing during lengthy process?

    - by OverTheRainbow
Hello, I need to write a VB.Net 2008 applet to go through all the fixed-drives looking for some files. If I put the code in ButtonClick(), the UI freezes until the code is done: Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click 'TODO Find way to avoid freezing UI while scanning fixed drives Dim drive As DriveInfo Dim filelist As Collections.ObjectModel.ReadOnlyCollection(Of String) Dim filepath As String For Each drive In DriveInfo.GetDrives() If drive.DriveType = DriveType.Fixed Then filelist = My.Computer.FileSystem.GetFiles(drive.ToString, FileIO.SearchOption.SearchAllSubDirectories, "MyFiles.*") For Each filepath In filelist 'Do stuff Next filepath End If Next drive End Sub Google returned information on a BackGroundWorker control: Is this the right/way to solve this issue? If not, what solution would you recommend, possibly with a really simple example? FWIW, I read that Application.DoEvents() is a left-over from VBClassic and should be avoided. Thank you.

  • Avoiding Nested Blocks

    - by Helium3
If there is a view controller that wants to execute a number of block based tasks one at a time, how can the control be given back to the view controller after a completion block has executed. Lets say ViewControllerOne wants to execute a number of tasks, each relying on the result of the previous one, how would this control be given back to the viewcontroller after each completion block has been executed? I started thinking about this and I was heading towards a deeply nested block pattern that will surely only cause confusion to whoever else reads or tests it. A task executes and the completion block returns the result or error which is needed by the next task, which has its own completion task, that the next task relies on and so forth. How can the control be managed in one place, the viewcontroller? Would the completion block just call the next function that handles the next task, using a pointer to the view controller?

  • Good IM/Chat solution for pasting code

    - by Matt Miller
We've got several distributed developers working together on a couple of projects. We've been using Skype to host chats with all the developers, and it works okay except for one thing: It REALLY mangles any code we copy and paste into the chats -- especially the whitespace in Python. This question has tons of opinions about chat clients & servers, but no one has much to say about pasting in code. (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/36415/best-chat-im-tool-for-developers) Is anybody out there using a chat or im client that handles source code really well?
