  • Basic Mouse Features in Silverlight

    - by Sayre Collado
    Hi Guys, I have basic sample on how to use some features of mouse events in Silverlight. The picture. The Mouse Activity Log is to record the all activity done on the projects. My simple snippets on how to add on the textbox is:         protected void MessageLog(string msg)         {             txtMouseLog.Text += msg;         }   For the Mouse Wheel sample this is the snippets:         private void chkMouseWheel_Checked(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e)         {             image1.MouseWheel += new MouseWheelEventHandler(image1_MouseWheel);         }           void image1_MouseWheel(object sender, MouseWheelEventArgs e)         {             ImgScale.ScaleX = e.Delta > 0 ? ImgScale.ScaleX * 1.5 : ImgScale.ScaleX * 0.8;             ImgScale.ScaleY = e.Delta > 0 ? ImgScale.ScaleY * 1.5 : ImgScale.ScaleY * 0.8;               e.Handled = true;         }    And the XAML:        <Image Height="139" Name="image1" Stretch="Fill" Width="178" Source="/GBLOgs1;component/Images/Sunset.jpg">            <Image.RenderTransform>                 <ScaleTransform x:Name="ImgScale"></ScaleTransform>            </Image.RenderTransform>        </Image     I have also the showing of mouse position:           private void Mouse_MouseMove(object sender, MouseEventArgs e)         {             Point point = e.GetPosition(this);             lblMouseLocation.Content = "X: " + point.X + "and Y: " + point.Y;         }           private void checkBox1_Checked(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e)         {             lblMouseLocation.Visibility = Visibility.Visible;             MessageLog("Mouse Location Visible\n");         }           private void checkBox1_Unchecked(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e)         {             lblMouseLocation.Visibility = Visibility.Collapsed;             MessageLog("Mouse Location Collapsed\n");            And even the counting of clicked event:           int clicked = 0;         private void LayoutRoot_MouseLeftButtonDown(object sender, MouseButtonEventArgs e)         {             Point point = e.GetPosition(this);             clicked++;               string msg = "Mouse Clicked " + clicked.ToString() + " time(s) " +                                     "Mouse Location X and Y: " + point.X + " " + point.Y + "\n";               MessageLog(msg);         }     And now the result of above snippets. Happy Programming.

  • Dynamic Query Generation : suggestion for better approaches

    - by Gaurav Parmar
I am currently designing a functionality in my Web Application where the verified user of the application can execute queries which he wishes to from the predefined set of queries with where clause varying as per user's choice. For example,Table ABC contains the following Template query called SecretReport "Select def as FOO, ghi as BAR from MNO where " SecretReport can have parameters XYZ, ILP. Again XYZ can have values as 1,2 and ILP can have 3,4 so if the user chooses ILP=3, he will get the result of the following query on his screen "Select def as FOO, ghi as BAR from MNO where ILP=3" Again the user is allowed permutations of XYZ / ILP My initial thought is that User will be shown a list of Report names and each report will have parameters and corresponding values. But this approach although technically simple does not appear intuitive. I would like to extend this functionality to a more generic level. Such that the user can choose a table and query based on his requirements. Of course we do not want the end user to take complete control of DB. But only tables and fields that are relevant to him. At present we are defining what is relevant in the code. But I want the Admin to take over this functionality such that he can decide what is relevant and expose the same to the user. On user's side it should be intuitive what is available to him and what queries he can form. Please share your thoughts what is the most user friendly way to provide this feature to the end user.

  • Reasons for Wi-Fi to be slower on Ubuntu compared to Windows?

    - by den-javamaniac
I'm using 64-bit Ubuntu 12.04 and Windows 7 64 bit – dual boot on the same computer. Connecting to the same wireless network. And it turns out that on Windows I get a more stable and stronger signal than on Ubuntu. To my knowledge there's a router which serves as a gateway and then there's a cable connected to the router which goes further to ISP, so the results for both OS should be the same. I've tested the issue on both OSs at various times and it gave me the same result. The question is why? Why Ubuntu networking is worse than that of Windows?

  • How to kill all screens that has been up longer then 3 weeks?

    - by Darkmage
Im creating a script that i am executing every night at 03.00 that will kill all screens that has been running longer than 3 weeks. anyone done anything similar that can help? If you got a script or suggestion to a better method please help by posting :) I was thinking maybe somthing like this. First do a dump to textfile ps -U username -ef | grep SCREEN dump.txt then do a loop running through all lines of dump.txt with a regex and putting pid of the prosseses with STIME 3weeksago in a array. then do a kill loop on the array result.

  • What does the the reconstruction process of mdadm do exactly on raid10

    - by Azrael
I've got a system with 4 disks set up as raid10. All disks are usable, and mdadm all states them with UUUU. Due to a recent system crash, the raid is currently reconstruction the raid as it was marked as "not clean," and a reconstruction process was started. On a closer look smartctl shows problems on one disk: sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Unhandled sense code sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Result: hostbyte=DID_OK driverbyte=DRIVER_SENSE sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Sense Key : Medium Error [current] [descriptor] Descriptor sense data with sense descriptors (in hex): 72 03 11 04 00 00 00 0c 00 0a 80 00 00 00 00 00 24 cd 78 d4 sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Add. Sense: Unrecovered read error - auto reallocate failed sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] CDB: Read(10): 28 00 24 cd 75 1e 00 04 00 00 With a research about the reconstruction process, I only found information concerning raid5 but nothing for raid10. Can I replace this problematic disk during the reconstruction process, or will I kill the raid with this?

  • Weird UIView transforms in Retina iPhone

    - by ggambett
I'm having a problem I don't understand. I'm developing an OpenGL app for iOS. Because at some points I want to force the orientation of the view programatically, and Apple for whatever reason doesn't make it easy (or even possible), I'm doing it by hand. I return always NO in shouldAutoRotateToInterfaceOrientation, and when I want to change the orientation (to portrait, for example), I do something like this in the UIView: [self setTransform:CGAffineTransformMake(1, 0, 0, 1, 0, 0)]; [self setBounds:CGRectMake(0, 0, 768, 1024)]; This works fine. In order to support Retina devices, I started checking [UIScreen mainScreen].scale, and setting self.contentScaleFactor accordingly. I also modified the code above to account for the new dimensions, like this: [self setTransform:CGAffineTransformMake(1, 0, 0, 1, 0, 0)]; [self setBounds:CGRectMake(0, 0, 2*768, 2*1024)]; Same rotation, different size. The weird result with this is that I get a "screen" with the right size, but offsetted half a screen to the bottom and the left. To correct for this, I need to do the following: [self setTransform:CGAffineTransformMake(1, 0, 0, 1, 0, 0)]; [self setBounds:CGRectMake(-768, -1024, 2*768 - 768, 2*1024 - 1024)]; This works, but it's ugly, I also need to make similar corrections when I get touch coordinates, and worst of all, I don't understand what's going on or why the above "correction" works. Can anyone shed some light on this issue?

  • MySQL Unions/Subselects not utilizing keys from associated tables

    - by Brett
I've noticed by doing EXPLAINs that when a MySQL union between two tables is used, mysql creates a temporary table, but the temp table does not use keys, so queries are slowed considerably. Here is an example: SELECT * FROM ( SELECT `part_number`, `part_manufacturer_clean`, `part_number_clean`, `part_heci`, `part_manufacturer`, `part_description` FROM `new_products` AS `a` UNION SELECT `part` as `part_number`, `manulower` as `part_manufacturer_clean`, `partdeluxe` as `part_number_clean`, `heci` as `part_heci`, `manu` as `part_manufacturer`, `description` as `part_description` FROM `warehouse` AS `b` ) AS `c` WHERE `part_manufacturer_clean` = 'adc' EXPLAIN yields this: id select_type table type possible_keys key key_len ref rows Extra 1 PRIMARY <derived2> ALL (NULL) (NULL) (NULL) (NULL) 17206 Using where 2 DERIVED a ALL (NULL) (NULL) (NULL) (NULL) 17743 3 UNION b ALL (NULL) (NULL) (NULL) (NULL) 5757 (NULL) UNION RESULT <union2,3> ALL (NULL) (NULL) (NULL) (NULL) (NULL) In this case, part_manufacturer_clean and manulower are keys in both tables. When I don't use the subselects and union, and just use one table, everything works fine. I'm not sure if the issue is with the union or with the subselects. Is there any way to union two tables and still use keys/indexes for performance?

  • Reflection velocity

    - by MindSeeker
I'm trying to get a moving circular object to bounce (elastically) off of an immovable circular object. Am I doing this right? (The results look right, but I hate to trust that alone, and I can't find a tutorial that tackles this problem and includes the nitty gritty math/code to verify what I'm doing). If it is right, is there a better/faster/more elegant way to do this? Note that the object (this) is the moving circle, and the EntPointer object is the immovable circle. //take vector separating the two centers <x, y>, and then get unit vector of the result: MathVector2d unitnormal = MathVector2d(this -> Retxpos() - EntPointer -> Retxpos(), this -> Retypos() - EntPointer -> Retypos()).UnitVector(); //take tangent <-y, x> of the unitnormal: MathVector2d unittangent = MathVector2d(-unitnormal.ycomp, unitnormal.xcomp); MathVector2d V1 = MathVector2d(this -> Retxvel(), this -> Retyvel()); //Calculate the normal and tangent vector lengths of the velocity: (the normal changes, the tangent stays the same) double LengthNormal = DotProduct(unitnormal, V1); double LengthTangent = DotProduct(unittangent, V1); MathVector2d VelVecNewNormal = unitnormal.ScalarMultiplication(-LengthNormal); //the negative of what it was before MathVector2d VelVecNewTangent = unittangent.ScalarMultiplication(LengthTangent); //this stays the same MathVector2d NewVel = VectorAddition(VelVecNewNormal, VelVecNewTangent); //combine them xvel = NewVel.xcomp; //and then apply them yvel = NewVel.ycomp; Note also that this question is just about velocity, the position code is handled elsewhere (in other words, assume that this code is implemented at the exact moment that the circles begin to overlap). Thanks in advance for your help and time!

  • How do I break down and plan a personal programming project?

    - by Pureferret
I've just started a programming job where I'm applying my 'How to code' knowledge to what I'm being taught of 'How to Program' (They are different!). As part of this, I've been taught how to capture requirements from clients before starting a new project. But... How do I do this for a nebulous personal project? I say nebulous, as I often find halfway through programming something, I want to expand what my program will do, or alter the result. Eventually, I'm tangled in code and have to restart. This can be frustrating and off-putting. Conversely, when given a fixed task and fixed requirements, it's much easier to dig in and get it done. At work I might be told "Today/This week you need to add XYZ to program 1" That is easy to do. At home (for fun) I want to make, say, a program that creates arbitrary lists. It's a very generic task. How do I start with that? I don't need it to do anything, but I want it to do something. So how do I plan a personal programming project? • Ubuntu 11.10 loads from live usb fine, but boots to black screen from harddrive. Why?

    - by Estel
A few days ago I had a hard drive failure, which was running Windows XP (32-bit) just fine. The second hard drive in my computer held a few unimportant files, so I formatted it in the Ubuntu setup and installed 11.10 without a hitch. I had been using it for about a week, but decided to install Windows 7 (64-bit) in order to utilize Networking with my home server (running Windows Server 2000). My system is 64-bit based, and thus I had no problems installing other than a basic RAM error that required me to remove my RAM down to a single stick. I played with the settings in Windows 7 for around an hour before I shut down. After reinstalling the RAM, Windows 7 would not boot. In this, I then assumed that something about my system was rejecting Win7 and I reinstalled Ubuntu. However, now Ubuntu (11.10) boots into black screen, and I've already attempted activating the grub menu with the shift key, and following steps listed here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/BlankScreen but nothing seems to work. I've reinstalled twice now, with the same result each time. Now, the very odd part about this whole scenario is that the USB I installed from has no problems booting as a live USB. This puzzles me greatly, because the hard drive boots straight to black screen and the live USB loads normally. At this point, my only theory is that the boot sector of the hard disk was somehow corrupted with Win7, and that Ubuntu was unable to completely write through. I used Darik's Boot n Nuke to wipe the drive, but was met with an error, this also puzzles me because the hard disk has no promblems reading or writing. Any suggestions/comments are appreciated. If you have a theory, I will be more than happy to oblige. • recover deleted files from other computer

    - by Giorgi
Hello, I moved a html file from my computer to another and accidentally deleted it from that computer which I accessed from my computer like this: \name\folder As a result the file did not go recycle bin. I tried ntfsundelete and it did found the file on my computer but when I recovered, it looks like as if you opened binary file with notepad. I then tried Recuva and it says that part of the file is overwritten. Is there any chance to recover it? Can I recover it from another computer? Thanks.

  • Using Queries with Coherence Read-Through Caches

    - by jpurdy
Applications that rely on partial caches of databases, and use read-through to maintain those caches, have some trade-offs if queries are required. Coherence does not support push-down queries, so queries will apply only to data that currently exists in the cache. This is technically consistent with "read committed" semantics, but the potential absence of data may make the results so unintuitive as to be useless for most use cases (depending on how much of the database is held in cache). Alternatively, the application itself may manually "push down" queries to the database, either retrieving results equivalent to querying the cache directly, or may query the database for a key set and read the values from the cache (relying on read-through to handle any missing values). Obviously, if the result set is too large, reading through the cache may cause significant thrashing. It's also worth pointing out that if the cache is asynchronously synchronized with the database (perhaps via database change listener), that an application may commit a transaction to the database, then generate a key set from the database via a query, then read cache entries through the cache, possibly resulting in a race condition where the application sees older data than it had previously committed. In theory this is not problematic but in practice it is very unintuitive. For this reason it often makes sense to invalidate the cache when updating the database, forcing the next read-through to update the cache.

  • Can a GPO Startup Script starts a background process and exit immediately?

    - by pepoluan
I have Googled, and not yet found an answer. Scenario: One of my GPOs have a Startup Script that takes a long time to finish. For some reasons, we have to run the scripts synchronously. Naturally, this causes slow startup time (sometimes as long as 15 minutes!) before the Logon screen appears. After profiling and analyzing the perpetrator script, I conclusively determined that the step where it's taking a long time to finish will not affect the result of the succesive GPOs. In other words, that particular step (and all steps afterwards) can run in the background. My Question: Is it possible for the Startup Script to just 'trigger' another script/program that will run to completion even when the Startup Script exits? That is, the "child processes" of the Startup Script continues to live even when the Startup Script's process ends? Additional Info: The Domain Controllers are 2008 and 2008 R2's. The workstations are Windows XP.

  • How do I install a language pack in Windows 7 Home Premium?

    - by ekaj
Specifically, I want Korean (link), but I hope this helps other people in general. According to this page, it is only possible for Ultimate and Enterprise. Specifically, I'd like to enable my keyboard to type in Korean, and I specified Korean as the input language (Start - type "Input Languages", only result). Under the General tab, I selected Add, and specified Korean.. but it doesn't work, because the language pack isn't installed I presume. Would anyone know how to add different language input / packs to Windows 7 Home Premium? Also, I tried following this tutorial on adding a language pack to HP, but the .cab keeps disappearing so it will not work. Note: Unlike the link in the tutorial as well, I do not have an option to change the display language of Windows, only the option to change input methods.

  • Using VMware's ESXi, can I plug in 30 USB Wireless adapters and allow each of 30 VMs one?

    - by 31eee384
I'm assuming ESXi will act very similarly to VMware Workstation or other products, so answers based on knowledge of those programs might also help. I want to plug in 30 USB Wireless or Ethernet adapters into my server, and let each VM access one and only one of these devices. Unfortunately, I don't have the hardware to just try it out as the purchase of hubs and adapters hinges on the result of this question. The answer could be a resounding "yes, easy!" and that would be great. I couldn't find any answers to this question with google, and it's possible that this is because it's so easy to do. Thanks!

  • SQL Server 2008 R2 Writing To Text File

    - by zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I used to write to text files from SQL Server using the code listed below: DECLARE @FS INT --File System Object DECLARE @OLEResult INT --Result message/code DECLARE @FileID INT --Pointer to file --Create file system object (OLE Object) EXECUTE @OLEResult = sp_OACreate 'Scripting.FileSystemObject', @FS OUT IF @OLEResult <> 0 PRINT 'Scripting.FileSystemObject.Failed' -----OPEN FILE----- EXECUTE @OLEResult = sp_OAMethod @FS, 'OpenTextFile', @FileID OUT, @FileName, 8, 1 IF @OLEResult <> 0 PRINT 'OpenTextFile.Failed' It appears this is no longer supported in sql server 2008 r2. • Homedir inside homedir restricted access

    - by blid
On my VPS i've installed debian, apache+php. I have 2 users: foo and bar. Apache is configured to execute php files from /home/foo/htdocs. I created dir: /home/foo/htdocs/bar/ and made it home dir for user bar. Hover, I need to make a restriction: bar can't read, write or executre any files outside his own dir, but Apache has to be able execute all php files from /htdocs. I tried to chown the bar dir only for user bar, also experimented a lot with chmod but without a result so far. If there's any better way to satisfy my needs don't hesitate to write about it. Thanks in advance

  • Are there any good examples of open source C# projects with a large number of refactorings?

    - by Arjen Kruithof
I'm doing research into software evolution and C#/.NET, specifically on identifying refactorings from changesets, so I'm looking for a suitable (XP-like) project that may serve as a test subject for extracting refactorings from version control history. Which open source C# projects have undergone large (number of) refactorings? Criteria A suitable project has its change history publicly available, has compilable code at most commits and at least several refactorings applied in the past. It does not have to be well-known, and the code quality or number of bugs is irrelevant. Preferably the code is in a Git or SVN repository. The result of this research will be a tool that automatically creates informative, concise comments for a changeset. This should improve on the common development practice of just not leaving any comments at all. EDIT: As Peter argues, ideally all commit comments would be teleological (goal-oriented). Practically, if a comment is made at all it is often descriptive, merely a summary of the changes. Sadly we're a long way from automatically inferring developer intentions!

  • Booting off a ZFS root in 14.04

    - by RJVB
I've been running a Debian derivative (LMDE) on a ZFS root for half a year now. It was created by cloning a regular ext4-based install with all the necessary packages onto a ZFS pool, chrooting into that pool and recreating a grub menu and bootloader. The system uses an ext-3 dedicated /boot partition. I would like to do the same with Ubuntu 14.04, but have encountered several obstacles. There is no Trusty zfs-grub package The default grub package doesn't have ZFS support built in. I found a small bug in the build system responsible for that (report with patch created) and built my own grub packages. The built-in ZFS support is dysfunctional, it does not add the proper arguments to the kernel command line I thus installed the ZoL grub package I also use on my LMDE system, which does give me a correct grub.cfg However, even with that correct grub.cfg, the boot process apparently doesn't retrieve the bootfs parameter from the ZFS pool; instead the variable that's supposed to receive the value remains empty. As a result, initrd tries to load the default pool ("rpool"), which fails of course. I can however import the pool by hand, and complete the process by hand. If memory serves me well, I also had to disable apparmor, to avoid the boot process from blocking after importing the pool. Am I overlooking something? Just for comparison, I installed the Ubuntu 3.13 kernel on my LMDE system, and that works just fine (i.e. the identical kernel and grub binaries allow successful booting without glitches on LMDE but not on Ubuntu).

  • Windows screen resolution change: lengthen timeout

    - by Jonathan J
Occasionally I need to change the screen resolution of the console of a Windows virtual machine using XenCenter. When you attempt this change, Windows will revert if you don't accept the changed resolution within 15 seconds of clicking 'apply.' (Normally, this is a good thing.) The problem is that if I have a slow connection between XenCenter and the Xen hypervisor, the virtual console display may not refresh quickly enough to allow me to respond within 15 seconds. As a result, I can't change the resolution, even though the new resolution is valid. Is there a way to increase the timeout before reverting to the original display resolution?

  • Anemic Domain Model, Business Logic and DataMapper (PHP)

    - by sunwukung
I've implemented a rudimentary ORM layer based on DataMapper (I don't want to use a full blown ORM like Propel/Doctrine - for anything beyond simple fetch/save ops I prefer to access the data directly layer using a SQL abstraction layer). Following the DataMapper pattern, I've endeavoured to keep all persistence operations in the Mapper - including the location of related entities. My Entities have access to their Mapper, although I try not to call Mapper logic from the Entity interface (although this would be simple enough). The result is: // get a mapper and produce an entity $ProductMapper = $di->get('product_mapper'); $Product = $ProductMapper->find('[email protected]','email'); //.. mutaute some values.. save $ProductMapper->save($Product) // uses __get to trigger relation acquisition $Manufacturer = $Product->manufacturer; I've read some articles regarding the concept of an Anemic Domain model, i.e. a Model that does not contain any "business logic". When demonstrating the sort of business logic ideally suited to a Domain Model, however, acquiring related data items is a common example. Therefore I wanted to ask this question: Is persistence logic appropriate in Domain Model objects?
