  • Re-define File::dirname ruby method

    I'm trying to redefine the File.dirname method to first change %20s to spaces. But the following gives me an error class File old_dirname = instance_method(:dirname) define_method(:dirname) { |s| s = s.gsub("%20"," ") old_dirname.bind(self).call(s) } end This trhows a NameError exception: undefined method 'dirname' for class 'File' What is the right way to do this?

    Each day an application creates a file called file_YYYYMMDD.csv where YYYYMMDD is the production date. But sometimes the generation fails and no files are generated for a couple of days. I'd like an easy way in a bash or sh script to find the filename of the most recent file, which has been produced before a given reference date. Typical usage: find the last generated file, disregarding those produced after the May 1st. Thanks for your help

    Why is dereferencing called dereferencing? I'm just learning pointers properly, and I'd like to know why dereferencing is called that. It confused me as it sounds like you are removing a reference, rather than going via the pointer to the destination. Can anyone explain why it is called this? To me something like destination or pointed_to_value would make more sense.

    Whenever I run this, and open the color dialog, there are many colors that do not having a proper name, the listbox will show something like "ffff8000"(Orange-Yellow). Is there another way of pushing the proper name?   • Using UNC path as paths location in Mecurial IIS6 Server2003

    I'm running the latest Mercurial and Python 2.6; IIS6 is using the wildcard ISAPI method to attach the site to the Mecurial hgwebdir_wsgi [paths] \ = \\COMP3254\TestRepo\* [web] baseurl = / allow_push = * push_ssl = false style = monoblue The setup works perfectly if I reference the local drive E:\repo* but doesnt work if I specify the network as above; I've given the server (MERCDEV01$) full permissions on the shared folder on COMP3254, I can't think of any other reason it wouldn't work. Any ideas?

    Hi, I'd like to know how people decide whether to define a method as static. I'm aware that a method can only be defined as static if it doesn't require access to instance fields. So lets say we have a method that does not access instance fields, do you always define such a method as static, or only if you need to call it statically (without a reference to an instance). Perhaps another way of asking the same question, is whether you use static or non-static as the default? Thanks, Don

    Hi all, i've installed new sdk 3.2 pre-release wich have iPad simulator, i have tried to launch an iPhone app created by me in iPad simulator; the main view of this app has an image as background; when launch it on iPad simulator this background(self.background = [[UImage..... ) it comes inverted, from top to bottom.     Hi all , Im trying to read in image file from a server , with the code below . It keeps going into the exception. I know the correct number of bytes are being sent as I print them out when received. Im sending the image file from python like so #open the image file and read it into an object imgfile = open (marked_image, 'rb') obj = imgfile.read() #get the no of bytes in the image and convert it to a string bytes = str(len(obj)) #send the number of bytes self.conn.send( bytes + '\n') if self.conn.sendall(obj) == None: imgfile.flush() imgfile.close() print 'Image Sent' else: print 'Error' Here is the android part , this is where I'm having the problem. As far as I can tell its definitely sending too as the send all method in python sends all or throws an exception in the event of an error and so far it has never thrown an exception. So the client side is messed up . I have to send the file from the server so I cant use the suggestion suggested by Brian .

I need it to be stored in the application storage so we can reference the content once downloaded. I know it's possible to download content as referenced in this question: Download Content using Air For Android but can a person download the entire folder and again store it in the application directory? The problem is that Ninject seems to reference libararies such as System.Web which are NOT in the Client Profile. Can anyone recommend an IOC container that can target the .NET Framework Client Profile (3.5 or 4) ?
